Introducing: The Back Court

Pariah Entertainment was formed in 2003 by Moe Arnaiz, Charles Jolivette and Desi Gallardo, with the common goal of separating the art of music from the complex business that it embodies. At Pariah we are dedicated to supporting musicians as they develop artistically, encouraging experimentation and change. We as a corporation are determined to provide our artists with the highest level of marketing, distribution and production while allowing their focal point to be the music. Pariahs goal is to bring quality, affordable music to the masses through networking, touring and Internet-selling campaigns. So please join us as we look to reshape the music industry and restore the art back into this business.

This being the groups first album together, we want to make a good first impression to our audience, and I feel that Soul Gossip is just that. Any song on this album has the power to stand alone as a single,” said The Backcourt?s manager, Moe Arnaiz. With the first single “Summer Daze” already receiving airplay from radio stations such as the Bay Areas 106.1 KMEL and Hot 98.7 in Santa Rosa, the future is looking bright for The Backcourt?s debut album, Soul Gossip.

Pariah Entertainment has made the official decision to release the album, Soul Gossip , with distribution to various record stores nationwide. But they are looking to experiment by making their primary distribution outlet their company Web site, TheBackcourt.com. Pariah Entertainment insists that this method of distribution presents several benefits to its audience.

“Usually, fans are stuck paying $10 to $15 for CDs in stores. With our new method of online distribution the CDs only costs $7.99, and we will even have promotions that will enable buyers to avoid shipping costs,” said the Pariah Entertainment CEO. This new method of distribution is becoming common in the independent music industry with national distribution remaining expensive and difficult to attain.

Hopefully the internet becomes the future of record distribution. “It will give indie labels, like ourselves the opportunity to compete with the big labels, and it will provide independent artists with the ability to carve their niche into the music industry,” said one Pariah Entertainment staff member. Pariah is even planning to post three singles from the Soul Gossip album on the Web site for the FREE listening pleasure of their audience. Pariah artist Rap4Rights commented, “We encourage our fans to listen to our singles. Once they hear those tracks we are confident that they will be back to buy the complete CD.” With the album price only a fraction of the cost compared to most albums, Rap4Rights may have a valid point, but only time will tell, as for now the coming months for Pariah Entertainment and The Backcourt look to be full of excitement and experimentation.
