This fall Los Angelesﾒ crowned hip hop duo Bleu Collar has released the Los Angeles Designer Music, Vol.1 mix tape for the unbeatable price of ﾓFree-Ninety Nine.ﾔ Every first Friday of the month Bleu Collar packs the Little Temple (4519 Santa Monica Bl. in Silverlake) beyond capacity and gives a performance worth twenty times the 99-cents you pay at the door. Beginning Sunday, October 23rd Bleu Collar will have a second residency at the notable Temple Bar (1026 Wilshire Bl. @11th Street in Santa Monica).
Basik and Reese One are Bleu Collar, a Los Angeles duo with a classic sound unparalleled by any other hip-hop act. Compared to groups such as Outkast and UGK for their chemistry and contrasting rhyme styles, Bleu Collar runs a fine line between gritty underground lyricists and the mainstream circuit. “Weﾒre not gangstas, but we arenﾒt backpackers, either,” Basik says. “Bleu Collar represents what we believe is the majority of the world, the common man, but with our creative flare.” Basik says, “Everyone raps and everyone puts out their own CDﾒs these days but, everyone canﾒt rock a show and have the line down the block like Bleu Collar!”
“Residencies are usually reserved for rock bands,” Reese One says proudly. “Underground promoters wouldnﾒt book us because weﾒre not underground enough and big time promoters wonﾒt book us because weﾒre too far under their radar, so we created our own scene.”
