The Time Has Come For L.A Talent Mykestro

0

It’s two years on May 28th since we introduced Mykestro to the world on dubcnn in a news article/interview with both Mykestro and his older brother and westcoast legend Battlecat. [View the article in the Archives].

When asked to describe himself he told dubcnn: “I would say I’m absolutely universal. I have alot of versitality, and definitely not what you would expect out of L.A. I come from a musical background, MC and production wise. I’m very consistent as far as lyrics go, I’m a MC!”

When asked about his influences growing up Mykestro shouts without hesitation that “Kurupt was my hero! That’s my hero right there! That’s who I looked up to when coming up, I always felt like he was a different type of MC, so that was my main influence from the gate. But now I listen to alot of different shit, I like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharaohe Monch, Ice Cube.. I like real MC’s, I like Slum Village, Jigga of course, Eminem is a monster, Busta Rhymes, of course Biggie & Pac.. Yeah those are the main ones” While his big brother told dubcnn; “To me man, Mykestro is like Jay-Z and Common Sense in one… yeah he’s like the mix of the two!”

Since then things have only been on the up for the artist that Tawala Sharp of KKBT Los Angeles said; “Hip-Hop is a couple, lost on a dark highway…Mykestro is the map that will set West Coast Hip-Hop back in the right direction.”

Dubbed “The Best West OF The 110,” Mykestro is THAT dude who is grinding hard and making his presence felt on the westcoast. His pedigree includes appearances on LPs by Snoop Dogg, countless mixtapes, and working with his older brother, the prodcution legend that is DJ Battlecat. On his debut single, Mykestro has linked with two of L.A.’s newest and brightest stars, Glasses Malone (Blu Division/Sony Music) and Bishop Lamont (Aftermath/Interscope) to deliver a record that could be a contender for CD Single & 12″ of the year come December. Even rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother got nothing but love for Mykestro: “I f-cks wit Mykestro.”

We have the audio from the single which is being released by ABB Records featuring Glasses Malone and Bishop Lamont with production from Terrace Martin and Diverse; cop the single to enjoy the “Raw & Uncutt” mix produced by DJ Battlecat.
