Topic Is Back & Confirms “Freedom Ain’t Free”

It’s hard to believe its almost 5 years since we first linked with West Covina representer Topic for this exclusive interview where the then SRC/Universal signee talked about signing with Steve Rifkind‘s label and his breakthrough The Coast Guard mixtape hosted by DJ Skee.

In the updates that followed we dropped a Promo Video where you could seeTopic recording his verse to “Cali Niggaz” as well as some footage of Topic with Steve Rifkind, David Banner & DJ Skee as well as singles Ridin’ Threw The West and Creep & Crawl.

In 2008 he was back to drop the American Hustler mixtape with DJ Warrior and Felli Fel and was soon back on Dubcnn in September 2008 for this Exclusive Interview where he discussedAmerican Hustler and more.

It was almost a year until we next heard from the talented MC with his single Eyes Off You featuringSwag over production from The Academy before he dropped his The Appetizer mixtape.

In November 2010 he was back planning to release “American Hustler 2.0” in 2011 and dropped off the Glasses Malone featured New WestTyrant and Hatin’ On Me – but the mixtape never came.

Thankfully the hiatus from Topic is now over and the man who has been through tough times in his personal and industry life over recent years is back and finally free from his previous record deal with SRC/UNIVERSAL. Topic has now taken his career into his own hands, with the formation of independent company Boss Life World LLC and is looking to release a new project titled “Freedom Ain’t Free” – which is sounding like his highly acclaimed The Coast Guard release from 2007.

We have been sent the “Freedom Ain’t Free Intro” as the first official track from the project produced by new comers The RadioFliers – check it below!

“Freedom Ain’t Free” will drop later this summer – and you know, as Topic states at the start of this record, it’ll be on Dubcnn.com! In the meantime check his official website and hit him on Twitter.
