news 1088000759 - January 1, 1970 By : I would like to Introduce you to a up and coming R&B artist (Unsigned) out of Southern California, "KROOK". Krook has been around for awhile on the underground circuit working with artist such as Kurupt, Roscoe, Bad Azz, 40 Glocc, Latin artist Capone', Nite Owl, Snapper, Kid Frost and many more.
But Krook has branched out on his own with a completed album, album cover and ready for press under his cousins Independent label Soulyric. I'm not going to hype him up, I'll let the music speak for it self. Krook's looking for a warm R&B label that's self contained, artist to work with, meaning writting, appearing on tracks and just networking with artist period. Most of you will ask the question "why isn't this cat out, his music is off the chain"!!, well Krook has been overlooked, but also things happen for a reason, and we hope that a label will have the ears and eyes to realize that. Krook has been spoke on in New York alot lately and he's getting radio spins in Syaracuse New York!!!! top mix show, that's a start but not enough!!!!!

I don't want you guys to read a book, so let me send you to krooks E.P.K. site for you to view, we're adding things daily so check back frequently. I hope you enjoy Krook, and the definition of Krook is "DON'T LEAVE YOUR LADY UNATTENDED" Think about it!!!!!!!!

Check out the site by clicking
HERE.
There you can check out his bio and much more, and listen to three songs. You can download the three songs directly by clicking below too:

Krook - Passion
Krook - What Would You Do
Krook - Shake That Thang

Enjoy, and look for much more coming from Krook soon!

news 1155077370 - January 1, 1970 By : Dubcnn received tremendous feedback for the Snoop Dogg interview the last couple days, from both fans and artists. One of the many artists who reached out to embrace the unity was Mr. Capone-E.

Capone-E and the Hi Power Entertainment camp wanted people to know that they are definitely a force to be reckoned with on the West Coast. "We at Hi Power have sold close to a million records in the last year alone, with swap meets and soundscan combined. We run the streets of the West Coast swap meets and all chain stores. We are the streets and we are coming up with our artists Bizzy Bone, Layzie Bone, Lil Flip, MC Eiht & Compton's Most Wanted." Mr. Capone-E told Dubcnn.com in an exclusive statement.

"We haven't really spoken our minds but since this is an issue about the West I'm here letting people know we are the West. We respect Snoop for being of the pioneers of the West and we recognize what he has done, but Hi Power is blowing up with or without anyones approval period! So when it comes to vatos, we are the vatos of the West Coast. On that note I would like to show respect to Snoop on the black & brown unity." Mr. Capone-E continued.

Capone-E has a lot to say, and the full story will be told on his upcoming album "Don't Get It Twisted" due out August 29th. We've already premiered the lead single from the album a while ago, the self-titled cut "Don't Get It Twisted" featuring Twista.

Capone-E has just laced Dubcnn with yet another exclusive song from the new album called "The New West Coast" which reflects his statement. The song features Lil Eazy-E on a verse with production and talkbox by Fingazz. Hit the link to download the song:

news 1163176314 - January 1, 1970 By : Lil Flip' is giving his fans what they want in addition to setting his sights in on the booming Hispanic market - Mr. Capone-E is shooting for the mainstream.

Two of the hardest hustlas' in the rap game get Connected a new project with a release date of November 14. Houston's "Freestyle King" Lil' Flip and the West Coast's "Hustle King", Mr. Capone-E combine their flow to create a raw, hard-hitting 20-track reflection of their worlds entitled Connected.

After a tumultuous and successful year that included a label switch, Lil' Flip was exploring ways to build some inroads into the West Coast. Always having an ear to the street, Lil Flip had heard about Mr. Capone-E's string of Billboard successes on Hi Power/B-Dub Records These included collaborations' and full CD's with Twista, (whose single Don't Get It Twisted is currently receiving power rotation nationwide), Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Zapp, and Mr. Criminal. Of course, Mr. Capone-E's was also enjoying tremendous success with his own releases.

Lil' Flip recognized the underground hustle of a man moving over a million plus units with no major label promo machine behind him and wanted in. Capone-e's very own Hi Power label is distributed through indie power-house B--Dub, a subsidiary of Thump Records and exclusively distributed by Universal Music Distribution.

Mr. Capone-E's fan base is primarily Latino and maintains a loyal stronghold throughout the West Coast, Southwest and Midwest. The emerging Latin market is rapidly becoming an important factor in urban radio and strong record sales. The B-Dub label and its parent company, Thump Records, have been industry leaders in the Latin rap and hip-hop market both label's inception as the musical partner of Lowrider Magazine over 20 years ago.

There is no denying the street tenacity of Lil' Flip and Mr. Capone. There is also no denying the sales pull of these 2 heavyweights. Connected will have the old fans and new fiendin' for a piece of Lil' Flip and Mr. Capone-E. Get Connected on November 14th!

Their lead off single is a banger entitled King of the Streets. Dubcnn has the track available for download:

news 1169245204 - January 1, 1970 By : "I showed the trailer to my friends & everybody was laughing like a motherfucka. They thought it was real" - Too Short

"Gangsta Rap: The Glockumentary" will have its theatrical release Friday, March 2 on nearly two dozen screens in the L.A. area. The feature-length comedy is independently released by Ill Ville Films/Big Business.

Written and directed by Damon "Coke" Daniels, who co-wrote My Baby's Daddy with Eddie Griffin for Miramax, "Gangsta Rap: The Glockumentary" owes its street cred to Daniels' extensive turn in the world of hip hop, during which his group Madkap (Loud Records) toured with the likes of Notorious B.I.G, The Pharcyde, Twista, Common, The Alkaholiks and the Wu Tang Clan. Daniels also served as producer, alongside Craig Chapman, Chris Dreyer and Paul Stewart, who also handled the film's music supervision.

Shot in mockumentary style, with Daniels in the role as filmmaker, Gangsta Rap follows the flickering fortunes of Gangsta Rap, "the hardest group you've never heard of," a trio of old school, West Coast rappers: Murder Mike, Du Rag and DJ Ballistics. Despite run-ins with the law, shady dealings, numerous child custody cases, and a serious slide into irrelevance with the public, these self-proclaimed godfathers of gangsta rap are hell-bent on staging a comeback.

With fresh tracks such as "My Mamma's A Bitch" and "In My House Shoes," Gangsta Rap is angling to re-establish their supremacy. The group originally burst on the scene in the mid-eighties, virtually ruling the West Coast underground into the next decade. Following a slew of setbacks and some vicious in-fighting, the O.G.s put the past behind them to take one more stab at success.

The film features an ensemble cast of both real-life rappers and stand-up comedians, including Howie Bell (P. Diddy Presents...The Bad Boys of Comedy; Jamie Foxx's Laffapalooza), Gerald Johnson (aka, Slink Capone The Cutaluff, produced by Too Short), Schuylar Harvey, Leslie (aka Leslie Jones; HBO's Def Comedy Jam; Girlfriends; National Security) Tomy'a Bowden (The Steve Harvey Show; Dahmer), Clifton Powell (Ray; Woman, Thou Art Loosed) and Sam Maccarone, director of the recently released National Lampoon's TV: The Movie and also features cameos by rappers Too $hort and GLC.

news 1174523125 - January 1, 1970 By : Despite rumors that Shafiq, Om’Mas and Taz of the musical trio Sa-Ra have disbanded, the group known best for their work wiith Kanye West (they were signed to his G.O.O.D. Music label) is putting those rumors to rest with the May release of The Hollywood Recordings, the prequel to their forthcoming major label debut, on renowned indie Babygrande Records.

With high profile guest spots including Featuring Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, Bilal, J Dilla, Capone-N-Noreaga, Pharaohe Monch, Kurupt, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Lord Nes and more, The Hollywood Recordings defies categorization and represents Sa-Ra’s complete vision, which encompasses more than just music. “We take the best of all doctrines, practices and sciences, and have developed our own style,” Om’Mas explains. Taz adds, “Our music contains a deeper meaning, a real purpose.”

“You look at James Brown, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Parliament -- all of the originals, the Gs of whatever they did -- people didn’t get it at first,” Shafiq says. “It wasn’t until they madde it cool. Then, when they made it cool, everybody was doing it. Our job is to make history, not to entertain. Our job is to change, add and contribute to what the greats have already contributed.”

A product of South Central Los Angeles and the South Bronx, group founder Shafiq cut his teeth producing with Ice-T and Lord Finesse. Om’Mas was a quality mixer and engineer for a host of talent, including Ice-T, Foxy Brown, Mobb Deep and Jam Master Jay. While meeting with fellow South Central Los Angeles-based Taz in 1989, Shafiq realized that the three could make magic together, and formed Sa-Ra, meaning “offspring of the most powerful energy in the universe;” the name also means “children of the cosmos.”

The group’s subsequent production work with and for the likes of Dr. Dre, Kanye West, John Legend, Jurassic 5, Ice-T, Lord Finesse and others was accompanied by Sa-Ra releases: the Dark Matter And Pornography Mixtape and The Second Time Around. All of Sa-Ra’s work is marked by a connection to your soul, your being. It’s an intangible link to your inner self, making their output indispensable. It is something that cannot be ignored, as it cuts to the core of existence.

news 1185043835 - January 1, 1970 By : It's been a minute since the West has heard from names like Slip Capone, Knoc-Turn'al, or Time Bomb. All of them were signed to L.A. Confidential Records, which was headed by Big D. One of the label members, Slip Capone, was supposed to have his big debut with his album "Caponey Boy", which had completed songs with Nate Dogg, Dr. Dre, and other big names.

"My album never dropped due to different reasons." Slip told Dubcnn.com. "For one, there were a lot of creative differences. People want to put you in a box and make you a certain image.

But I'm way more than a gangsta rapper. I'm a gang member but I can rap my ass off about everything, not just jerry curl music. That was one problem, but there were a lot of haters in the mix. Not artists wise, but behind the scenes. The problem was the management and the people handling the business. I mean how can you have Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Aaron Hall on your album, but the album never drops? You can tell that it had nothing to do with money or how dope the record was. It's obvious that you have to be some kind of hater to not put out a record with all those names. The business just wasn't right, so I'd rather just walk away.
"

Today, Slip is currently putting together his upcoming project called "Kill The Industry". As far as features you can expect Bad Azz, Daz and Kurupt, Aaron Hall, and other, even international, guests. Production on "Kill The Industry" was handled by S-Dog, Dae One and other upcoming producers. "These are all West Coast guys that ain't Dr. Dre yet, but I guarantee you, they will be!" Slip continued.

Dubcnn has some old and some new audio from Slip Capone. We got two tracks from the new project "Kill The Industry", as well as two exclusive tracks from his unreleased "Caponey Boy" album, one of them being "Mind On My Money" featuring Nate Dogg with production by S-Dog.

Slip Capone - Devils Dance Floor
Slip Capone - Starvin Artist

news 1193341268 - January 1, 1970 By : Dubcnn is always bringing you the latest on all sorts of talent - from established veteran acts to future stars. Today we're bringing Da Grizzly to your attention!

Da Grizzly is a young rapper/entrepreneur from Los Angeles who is ready to take the rap game by storm. Originally known as Young Temp, the ambitious rapper changed his name because there were too many "Youngs" in the game. He decided on the moniker "Grizzly" because the beast represents California on our state flag.

For the past four years, Grizzly has been pushing his name on the streets, dropping seven mixtapes with the Cali Untouchables' DJ Artillery. He's also got his own record company called ShowGun Ent. that he has been working hard on. Grizzly has been named "The West Coast Pitbull" by many, and is now looking for the right deal with a major label.

Grizzly is making a name for himself on the LA concert scene as well. In the past couple months, he has done shows with The Reyes Bros, Bobby Valentino, and Baby Bash. news 1210432070 - January 1, 1970 By : Due to the overwhelming feedback to last week's Weekend Audio update, we decided to try and make this a weekly feature. We got a nice blend of new music this time around, mostly collaboration tracks, from some straight Hip-Hop sh-t to some gangsta sh-t.

The first one I want to give ya'll is a Butch Cassidy track, which appeared on Pr1me's "Transformers" mixtape. We have the untagged version for ya'll, courtesy of the producer of track Dae One. It's called "Now Here We Are", Butch Cassidy featuring Pr1me and Taje, West Coast as smooth as it gets:

Butch Cassidy -
Now Here We Are (ft. Pr1me & Taje) (Prod. by Dae One)

Next up is a coast to coast collaboration. Los Angeles Hip-Hop veterans Styles Of Beyond, who are currently working on their new album "Reseda Beach" which is set to drop this summer, have collaborated with the Wu Tang Clan's own RZA aka Bobby Digital. The result of the pairing is a track called "Don't Feel Bad", which I'm urging all of you to check out by clicking below:

Styles Of Beyond - Don't Feel Bad (ft. RZA)

We'll keep you up to date on Styles Of Beyond's "Reseda Beach" album.

Let's get to another coast to coast collaboration. Capone-N-Noreage have released a remix to their track "My Hood", which originally only featured The Clipse. They reached out to Daz Dillinger and Kurupt from the West Coast, as well as Uncle Murda and Maino from the East to assist them on this remix. The untagged version is here, grab it below:

C-N-N - My Hood (Remix) (ft. Dogg Pound, Clipse, Uncle Murda & Maino)

Next up is a joint off Bay Area rapper Errevelent's album "The Redefinition". We've been dropping tracks from his album for the past few months, and if you're not convinced enough to pick up his album yet, this track right here should change your mind. Errelevent linked up with one of the most talented up and coming rappers, the Primo co-signed Termanology. They knocked out a track called "The Formula", which you can download below:

Errelevent - The Formula (ft. Termanology)

Last week, we brought you a new Krondon solo track, along with a new Strong Arm Steady freestyle called "Tha Gang". We've recieved another new Strong Arm Steady track this week, this time it's a collaboration with Spliff Star called "Drugs & Money".

This is for those of you who like that drug talk, check it out below:

Strong Arm Steady - Drugs & Money (ft. Spliff Star)

And last but not least, we have a track by a new female singer that Daz Dillinger has been working with. She goes by the name of Melody Mona Lisa, and we have recieved her single "N Ur Bed", which features Daz himself on a verse. This is a cool feel good summer track, nothing that's going to change your life but definitely worth a couple spins, Daz comes off on his verse. Check it out below:

Melody Mona Lisa - N Ur Bed (ft. Daz Dillinger)

Enjoy this week's Weekend Audio, and check back with us next week for some more exclusives!
