1186140680 - January 1, 1970 By : Almost a month ago we reported that "The General" was getting ready to strike back and today we can finally build up to the imminent release of Watts' own Jag's second mixtape release in the planned trilogy of projects leading to his album debut. Since we first introduced him back in July 2006 Jag has ensured his name has steadily grown thanks to his constant work ethic and grinding across the local scenes and within the industry. His debut mixtape ""Money Over Fame," which was released in conjunction with Dubcnn for free download in January of this year, was the first installment in his "Music Money" mixtape series.
The former New York "Fight Klub" competitor kept the mixtape simple ensuring he showcased his skill, mic prescense and lyrics over a blend of original production and mixtape style freestyles. With original production on the mixtape being handled by Ricc Rude, 1500 Or Nothing, THX, The Animal House, Notch, and DJ Prosper it was evident the musical talent was there and Jag made sure he delivered his multi-dimensional persona.
Today we are back with more news and audio from the sequel mixtape in the "Music Money" series entitled "Tha General Strikes Back." Last month we released the first track that had just been mixed and mastered called Check Out My Swag which features a bass heavy, club friendly instrumental produced by The Animal House with a Jay-Z sampled hook.
In this update we have an incredible new record from "Volume 2" in this series entitled "One Day" which features the vocal talents of BJ The Chicago Kid whom many will remember appeared in our recent Behind The Scenes Feature With Westurn Union as well as various updates. The new track is produced by DJ Prosper and will be one of two new songs on "Tha General Strikes Back" that feature BJ The Chicago Kid, the second being the Kanye West produced "You Gotta Believe" - yes you read that right; Watts' own Jag got a beat from Kanye!
Jag - One Day (Feat. BJ The Chicago Kid) (Streaming)
In related news Jag is currently heading back out to Milwaukee to re-record his street single called "I'm A West N*gga!" - as soon as we have more news and media we will update you all right here on Dubcnn. Until then make sure you check out and download the afmorementioned free mixtape from Jag Music Money: Volume 1 (Money Over Fame) as well as visiting his official MySpace page.

1123521709 - January 1, 1970 By : Mtv.com hooked up with DJ Quik to talk breifly about his Trauma Mixtape. Here's the article:
DJ Quik is readying his new LP, Trauma, and put this mixtape out as a warmup. Along with the new tracks, Quik mixed in some of his greatest hits, like "Tonight" and "Pitch in on a Party."
"I'm 14 years in the game," Quik said. "There's some kids that weren't even born when my first album came out. I wanted to draw a timeline between my old stuff and my new stuff and bridge it to where there's a level of continuity."
Quik describes some of the songs that appear on the mixtape ...
Joints To Check For
"Fandango" featuring B-Real. "It was like watching Michael Jordan play," he said about working with the leader of Cypress Hill. "Having a ticket to a Chicago Bulls game, when Jordan was playing with the Bulls. Watching him in his zone when he had 40-45 points. Dude is a perfectionist."
Quik said his new record has nothing to do with the famous Internet movie Web site. "Fandango was around before the Internet. Fandango is a Spanish-American dance. It's a lively tempo dance. It's almost like the tango. That's what it says in the Merriam-Webster [dictionary]. The second entry is [defined as] 'tomfoolery.' That's what it says in the dictionary, that's what I go by. I remember Queen saying it too on 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' When I was little I never understood what they meant by 'do the fandango.' "
"Does the Good Life Exist" with Shawn Anthony. "I was just venting," Quik said of the song. "I was talking about some people that pissed me off a little bit. The funny thing about that record is that people liked it, but they thought I was taking a shot at Aaliyah at the beginning by saying 'I feel like that plane in the Bahamas.'
"But before I did the record I went to the Bahamas to be a part of that salt water and relax. Jet ski," he added. "I came back to New York and recorded that record. We had an issue with the plane. The baggage-claim dude was flirting with my girl and she checked him. I wasn't taking a shot at Aaliyah, but I didn't want to change the line because I lived it. It was just wordplay. I was shouting out Mausberg [on another line in the song] too because I miss him. Him being dead is a great injustice to hip-hop because I feel he was next."
"Doughe." The Compton, California, legend said that this record is dedicated to Mixmaster Spade and Quik's niece, who both died this year.
"I grew up with my niece, she was 28 years old," he said. "And to see a kid in a coffin — especially to see a kid you saw when they was first born and to see them at the end of their life — it f---ed me up. It affected my breathing. F--- my psyche, it affected the way I breathe. It was like somebody took an organ away from me without my permission. She was a gorgeous kid. She was the anchor of the family, a peacemaker. So I did [the beat for the song] all in a major key. I didn't want to darken the mood. Death sucks, but I played it in all major key because it always makes you happy even though it's a death march, in a sense."

1147879586 - January 1, 1970 By : He's one of the hottest commodities in the South on the Mic. And the other IS the go to guy for all Southern Mixtapes. I'm talking about the NO's Lil Wayne and Atlanta resident, by way of Philly, DJ Drama, respectively. In 2005, the Emcee and DJ released Dedication, a part of the famed Gangsta Grillz series, as a follow up for Wayne's album The Carter. To keep it uniform, they're readying a follow up to the highly acclaimed Dedication Mixtape, with Dedication 2, which is also a follow up to Wayne's latest album The Carter 2, dropping May 23rd.
We got a track off the Mixtape for ya'll to preview. It's a Remix to the Busta Rhymes and T.I. collaborative effort "Cannon." This go around, we find Weezy teaming with a host of emcees from all over the Map such as Philadelphia native and G-Unit/Roc-A-Fella repper, Freeway, Chicago's Lupe Fiasco and Juice of The Replacementz, as well as Michigan up and comers Detroit Red from Detroit and Willie The Kid from Grand Rapids (Who is also the brother of Wu Tang affiliate LA The Darkman).

1160568049 - January 1, 1970 By : I have some new music from V.O., who most of you might recognize as Devoe, which he was formally known as. The Lynwood rapper is currently working on his new project "Tha Black Experience", which is set to hit the streets in January 2007.
The direction he's taking on this one is different from what you might expect, V.O. comes with some real lyrics and researched subject matter. The production is also very clean, on the title track "Tha Black Experience" V.O. speaks on the trials and tribulations in the black community, and on "When I Talk To God" he tells us about his faith, and the struggle young kids have to go through to grow up where he grew up.
We have a few tracks available for you to listen to, to get an idea of what the record sounds like. Check them out below:
V.O. - Tha Black Experience V.O. - When I Talk To God V.O. - Thatz Hood
V.O. is also featured on the "Bloods & Crips: Rep Yo Hood" CD & DVD which is in stores now, so catch him on that! For more information, check out myspace.com/devomuzik.

1172832689 - January 1, 1970 By : Since we first unleashed Watts flame spitter Bad Lucc onto our readers in 2005 things have snowballed dramatically for the up and coming artist.
From relative obscurity he emerged and instantly made the world sit up and take note; from his vocal tone to his flow, from his lyrics to his ability to craft a song - he made sure that when he dropped a track it was fresh and worthy of listeners attention.
Westurn Union, a group that he had been in with Damani for some time at this point, also started reciving attention with the "Jackin' 4 DJ's" series they were putting out and soon recruited a third member, Soopafly. The buzz grew stronger, the music kept getting fresher and before anyone knew what was happening the group was working on their debut album, made an appearance on Snoop Dogg's "The Blue Carpet Treatment" and Damani inked a deal with Sony Records. Not bad for a year's work!
While Damani and the Westurn Union as a collective continue work on their debut albums, Bad Lucc also wants to ensure 2007 is the year of his first solo outing. Since the turn of the year he has had his head down grinding out hits for his release which, although not yet titled, will be out after the Westurn Union album in the summer.
The first track we have is a THX produced banger that sees Bad Lucc getting real serious for a moment on the issues that are really effecting his life; "I cant really hit the streets cause i aint risking it all, i don't wanna say oh sh-t but there's chickens involved, i gotta take life slow, that was passing me by, too weak to hold my head, too much of a man to cry, on the comp all day, myspace and the blogs, i would love to get out, no money no cars, bills popping up and i ain't made no moves, i feel sick, shit stunna must've took my groove, i could fall down through it, but that ain't my style i just conjour up a way to keep making these smiles."
The lyrics don't get the angst he creates with his voice as he delivers these heatfelt verses and when they align with the killer hook by B.J. The Chicago Kid you really get the truth he is trying to get across. Bad Lucc - Real Sh-t (Feat. B.J. The Chicago Kid) (Produced by THX)
On the second cut Bad Lucc enlists Westurn Union partner in rhyme Damani and fellow Watts native Halla [see our On The Come Up article] for a track called "Gangstas." This high tempo, heavy bass production is by none other than Swiff D, who laced the acclaimed Pacific Division track "Women Problems" that we dropped last year, all the MC's on this track match the hard hitting beat with equally vicious lyrics.
When asked about the track Bad Lucc told Dubcnn; "This one is just about how in Cali, we dont need a reason to do sh-t. We just go. Whether it's shooting, fighting, whatever. We dont need a reason to do that sh-t. We from Killa Cali. Its all green light. This is more war than peace, ya dig!"
Bad Lucc - Gangstas (Feat. Damani & Halla) (Produced by Swiff D)
We guarantee that if your a fan of Lucc already then he has not dissapointed again with this new music and those of you new to the talent then this is sure to turn your attention and make you a believer! Stay tuned to dubcnn for the latest on Bad Lucc's debut, Damani's album and the Westurn Union project. In the meantime head over to Bad Lucc's MySpace page for more information, images and audio.

1211224824 - January 1, 1970 By : In the packed confines of clubs around their hometown of Chicago and throughout the world The Cool Kids' irresistible, hooky rhymes and club cramming beats seamlessly bridge the old and new schools of hip hop while assuring them a sure-fire path to world-wide attention. In their short amount of time as a duo The Cool Kids have been featured in Rolling Stone, XXL, The Source, Spin, Paper Magazine, CBS News, The New Yorker, The Fader, and on the cover of The Urb - all without a single release to their name!
Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks met on MySpace in 2005 while Chuck was attending Illinois Art Institute in Chicago and Mikey was still in High School. In August 2006, under a year from their formation, the duo began performing at venues and parties around the city. They grabbed the attention of breakout DJs Flosstradamus, who were responsible for a much-hyped monthly dance night at the Town Hall Pub in Chicago. They invited The Cool Kids to appear and word of their energizing performances spread quickly. In March 2007 The Cool Kids joined Flosstradamus and other Chicago artists for a show at SXSW. Following this performance and an appearance at the WMC in Miami with A-Trak, The Cool Kids began grabbing the attention of national media.
After hosting reviews of several of their mp3s, Pitchfork offered The Cool Kids a coveted spot at the 2007 Pitchfork Festival, where they shared the stage with De La Soul and Clipse. Impressed by their talents, DJ Benzi gave the duo space in a track entitled "Getting It" where the two decidedly hold their own pitted against Lil Wayne, one of the most inventive, competitive, and successful MCs in the world. Their songs "Mikey Rocks" and "88" have been featured in the HBO series Entourage and the game NBA Live08, respectively. The video for the debut single "Black Mags." was featured on MTVu's Freshman Five. They concluded 2007 with a 30-day, sold out tour with M.I.A., bringing their tally of performances to over 150 for that year.
Early on The Cool Kids established their own "Creating Art for Kids Everywhere" recordings - the label under which the duo have written, record, and produced all their own music. Initially, the duo planned to release their own album on C.A.K.E. in July 2007. Due to such tremendous success in such a short period of time the release date was pushed back. "We thought we'd only need to press up a thousand CDs at best," said Mikey. "But when we started getting messages from Sweden, Iceland, France and Germany we knew this may be bigger than we can handle at this stage." Last October The Cool Kids signed a deal with Chocolate Industries. The highly anticipated debut EP "The Bake Sale" is expected early Spring 2008 on C.A.K.E. / Chocolate Industries.

1213553117 - January 1, 1970 By : A little over a year ago, we first introduced you to a duo from Seattle, WA called the Parker Brothaz, who dropped their debut "Meet The Parkers" at that time. A year later, Stretch and Eclipse have stayed on the grind and recently released their new album "So Freshcoast" which is on iTunes now.
They have an incredible track they just did with Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother, a remix to their track "Text Me", which convinced me to re-introduce these guys to our dubcnn viewers. Make sure to check out the Kuddie Mak produced track below:
Parker Brothaz - Text Me (ft. Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother)
The "So Freshcoast" album is executive produced by Dow Jones and J-Hen aka Tha Bizness, who also handled most of the production. Additional production was handled by Jake One, Vitamin D and the aformentioned Kuddie Mak.
Dubcnn has teamed up with Tha Bizness to give away 5 exclusive copies of the "So Freshcoast" album. All you need to do is email nima@dubcnn.com with your full name and mailing adress, the 5 winners will be picked randomly. Good luck!
Be on the lookout for another "Text Me" remix to drop soon, featuring Talib Kweli, Glasses Malone, Mistah FAB and Naledge of Kidz In The Hall. Parker Brothaz just got off a Northwest tour with E-40, so be on the lookout for the full remix on dubcnn soon!

1214956495 - January 1, 1970 By : There is no doubt that Double-0 and Nalledge aka Kidz In The Hall have an unconventional success story compared to what you hear most of the time when talking to rap artists. The Chicago/New Jersey duo released their debut album "School Was My Hustle" in 2006 through Rawkus Records, and later aligned with Duck Down Records to release their latest album "The In Crowd".
Some refer to their style as "hipster hip-hop", but you don't have to categorize them in order to dig their music. Incase you aren't familiar with Kidz In The Hall, we have just what you need to get introduced to them.
They just released a West Coast remix to their current single "Driving Down The Block", using the "Nuthin' But A G Thang" sample. They reached out to fresh Universal signees Pacific Division, Young Money's Tyga, Blu Division's Glasses Malone and the Prince of the Bay Mistah FAB to jump on the remix with them.
Shouts out to okayplayer.com for the exclusive, check out the "Driving Down The Block" West Coast remix:

1215556638 - January 1, 1970 By : A new official press release for Lil Eazy-E's solo debut "Prince Of Compton" has just been issued. This raises hopes for the Compton rapper to finally drop his album, which fans have now been waiting on for several years. Check out the press release:
"The West Coast has birthed some of the hardest lyrics to hit the rap world, with songs like “F**k the Police,” “6 N the Mornin,” and “It Was a Good Day.” The heart of some of the grittiest rhymes emerged from the streets of Compton, where hustling, and gangbanging were a way of life.
NWA introduced the world to Gangster Rap in the 80’s; Lil Eazy-E will resuscitate it in 2008, with his debut release on the Universal/Blackground label “Prince of Compton,” scheduled to drop September 16, 2008. The first release “What We’re Claimin” is a gangster’s anthem, with rich lyrical flow over funky, hard hitting beats.
Lil Eazy-E continues the legacy of his late father, rap icon Eric Eazy-E Wright, by delivering a searing collection of bone-crushing songs about the streets of his hometown, Compton. Lil Eazy’s lyrics reflect on the life and untimely death of his father, giving listeners an intimate look into their world.
He is prepared to put his own personal twist on the legacy left by his father. Lil Eazy-E’s lyrics tell the story of his life growing up in Compton, and living with one of the icons of gangster rap. He addresses all who have questioned his skills, the life and death of his father, and studio gangsters building careers by imitating the appearance and persona of West Coast pioneers that brought the streets of South Central to the rap game. Having grown up with many of the legends of gangster rap, it’s only natural that he call-out those that are faking in their music and in front of the cameras.
Lil Eazy-E is holding nothing back. He is dealing with subjects that until now have been fueled by rumors, such as his lifestyle since his fathers passing.
“A lot of people probably think I grew-up in the Suburbs of Southern California, living a privileged life. What they don’t know is I was born and raised in the same house as my father, the oldest of nine kids. We were a big family that all grew-up together. I lived the same life as my father, and I’m giving you that life on ‘The Prince of Compton’,” explains Lil Eazy-E.
“Prince of Compton” brings West Coast rap back with a vengeance, merging the flavor of N.W.A on songs such as “Money and Power” and “They Killed You,” and mixing things up with “This Ain’t a Game” featuring Bone Thugs, which takes listeners back to the Ruthless days. Lil Eazy-E also pays homage to one of his childhood hero’s Ice Cube on “Shotgun” which was inspired by the street classic “Today Was a Good Day.”
“Ice Cube was a huge influence on my record. Knowing him as a kid and then working with him as a man was a great learning experience,” said Lil Eazy-E.
With a phenomenal debut album, budding record company and fledgling roster of talented rappers, Lil Eazy-E is poised to become the next West Coast Rap Kingpin, just as his father did nearly 20 years ago."

1085559595 - January 1, 1970 By : Big Hutch a.k.a. Cold 187um, of the Legendary West Coast supergroup, Above The Law returns with his second solo release, "Live From The Ghetto."
Hip-Hop heads especially those west-coast purists last heard from Hutch back in 1999. He released his first solo debut "Executive Decisions" on his independent label, WestWorld Records. A lot has went on in the past five years and just when people thought that he and Above The Law were finished, they creep back and re-invent themselves and the game.
After the release of "Executive Decisions" and ATL’s "Forever Rich Thugs", Hutch received a call from then-incarcerated mogul Suge Knight to run the music production end at Death Row Records. Hutch’s signature G-Funk sound could be found on 2Pac’s "Until The End Of Time", The Dogg Pound’s "The Dogg Pound 2002" Snoop Dogg’s "Dead Man Walkin’", and the Death Row compilation "2 Gangsta For Radio." Despite the success of Death Row’s post 2Pac era, the label and Hutch couldn’t see eye to eye about the direction or release of the Above The Law album, then called "Diary Of A Drug Dealer" says Hutch, "As the owner of WestWorld, I wanted to see ATL in the upper echelon of the business, not just caught up in the mill of things."
"Live From The Ghetto" is not a mere title nor a misnomer, it is the mind state and environment that 187um has always been a part of and it’s evident throughout the album. This path has taken Hutch back to his gritty and grimy foundation as a premier emcee and producer. He had pulled back from his production duties for the past few years, by inviting new up-and-coming producers into the fold. Hutch always felt a need to help those burgeoning talent get immediate exposure. In fact the last two WestWorld releases featured affiliated producers who were inspired and hung around the group long enough to get bit by the G-Funk bug. In 2004, Cold 187um felt that it was time that he got behind the boards again and give the fans those patented gangsta-funk beats behind his well-known thugged out delivery. But never breaking the mold, well known west-coast producer Mark Sparks contributed 4 tracks to the album to add a slightly different, but certified west-coast rhythms that doesn’t stray away from the musical foundation Hutch has created for the album.
Cold 187um decided to remake a classic love song, "Give Me Your Love (Love Song)" performed by none other than the late great Curtis Mayfield. The formula for tackling a noted classic from a classic movie from the blaxploitation era of African American cinema? "Curtis Mayfield is one of my all-time favorite musicians" says Hutch. "The song is classic and you can’t top it, so all I could do is pay homage to him by adding my style to it and telling a similar story that the original is based on. Basically, "Give Me Your Love" is about a brother on the daily grind doing what he got to do, but knowing whatever happens, his woman got his back regardless of the outcome."Above The Law, Kokane, and upstarts Young Madd, Geno, and Vietnam graces the album.
Hutch feels that "Live From The Ghetto" is very reminiscent of Uncle Sam’s Curse not necessarily in the way of political opinion, but the overall realness that was the at the core of that noted classic album. The overall subject matter may be a bit racy for the commercial radio format, but for those who are familiar with 187um and ATL know they always offer a positive and possible solution within the content of their music. As an entrepreneur, Hutch has always envisioned himself as being the sole controller of his destiny even before he decides to retire. He would like to see his company, WestWorld Entertainment Group, become the independent powerhouse that rivals the legendary Ruthless and Death Row Records, both of whom he is very familiar with. Hutch is very comfortable with his current distribution deal, which he has a history with from the days Above The Law were recording for Tommy Boy Records.
"Live From The Ghetto" is WestWorld Record’s third major release. The first single is entitled "Lyrical Murda" WestWorld Records has already hit various markets around the country with their own mixtape hosted by none other than Big Hutch himself. "The mixtape basically re-introduces me to the community and lets them know what they can expect with this album. We’ve been receiving great feedback from the mixtape, the streets is definitely feeling it, especially here in Los Angeles."
"Live From The Ghetto" will be released nation-wide on June 8th, 2004.

1088000759 - January 1, 1970 By : I would like to Introduce you to a up and coming R&B artist (Unsigned) out of Southern California, "KROOK". Krook has been around for awhile on the underground circuit working with artist such as Kurupt, Roscoe, Bad Azz, 40 Glocc, Latin artist Capone', Nite Owl, Snapper, Kid Frost and many more. But Krook has branched out on his own with a completed album, album cover and ready for press under his cousins Independent label Soulyric. I'm not going to hype him up, I'll let the music speak for it self. Krook's looking for a warm R&B label that's self contained, artist to work with, meaning writting, appearing on tracks and just networking with artist period. Most of you will ask the question "why isn't this cat out, his music is off the chain"!!, well Krook has been overlooked, but also things happen for a reason, and we hope that a label will have the ears and eyes to realize that. Krook has been spoke on in New York alot lately and he's getting radio spins in Syaracuse New York!!!! top mix show, that's a start but not enough!!!!!
I don't want you guys to read a book, so let me send you to krooks E.P.K. site for you to view, we're adding things daily so check back frequently. I hope you enjoy Krook, and the definition of Krook is "DON'T LEAVE YOUR LADY UNATTENDED" Think about it!!!!!!!!
Check out the site by clicking HERE. There you can check out his bio and much more, and listen to three songs. You can download the three songs directly by clicking below too:

1088535771 - January 1, 1970 By : The Pedestrian is walkin’ it like he talks it on this hookladen, jeep ready album slated for release by Blak Ice Records. Third Degree, who hails from South Central Los Angeles, grew up living right around the corner from Dub C of Westside Connection. “I went to Hiphop High,” says Third. “Washington High School was where I came up. A lot of hiphop people have gone there, like Dub C, Crazy Tunes from The Maad Circle, YoYo, DJ Alladin, and Sir Jinx, who DJ’s for Xzibit, and more. Crenshaw High may have had the sports people locked up, but Washington has had the music people.” Third Degree is destined to be the next hiphop alumni to speak with authority. With rhymes constantly flowing out of every pore of his being, Third is definitely at no loss for words. The album, which is largely produced by the musically eloquent Yabie, is tightly packed with 21 serious tracks, including the runaway single “Do My Thang.” This quotable album is consistent all the way through, with no fillers or throwaway tracks. “I like real writers who have subjects and topics,” he professes. “I’m a purist kind of guy.” Third points out that Yabie’s work “sounded like music, it didn’t just sound like beats. He had a whole band of people available to play guitar, bass, all that. He thinks in a very musical way.” In this manner, he compares Yabie to DJ Quik. “He’s got a unique style. I can’t quite figure out his formula.” The single, "Do My Thang," will be out soon. The battle-ready rapper’s name came his basketball days. “We called ourselves the Burn Unit,” he says. “We had names like Thermostat, Third Degree and Lava Rock.” Third’s government name is Wayne Guillory. “Like guillotine. It’s French,” he explains. “All my people come from Louisiana.” Either way, the world is his. It’s Wayne’s world, as he’s young, gifted and black, and prolific to an extreme. His father was a coach, who lost his life to cancer. “My mom was real concerned about me after he died. That year, she asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I told her. Had my father lived, I would have definitely not gotten those turntables!” he reminisces, shaking his head with a smile. Third became obsessed with hiphop with gospel-like devotion, and he began interpreting the world through the mind of a rhymesman. It seemed that every event in life was suddenly transformed into a searing rhyme by the verbal prodigy. The prolific Third notes, “The single “Do My Thang” is a way to introduce me to people. I felt it was representative of where I was coming from. It lets people know a couple things about me, and I feel it describes me,” explains Third. “My raps give people another view of Los Angeles. People who don’t live here think it’s all either gangbanging or Hollywood. L.A. is not all about being a gangsta. I just wanted to make this record about the regular person in L.A,” he concedes. Third believes there’s a lot of pressure to rap about banging, because some of the earlier great L.A. rappers before them. “People who don’t even gangbang,” he points out. “I think rappers should talk about what they do. If you gangbang and you rap, talk about gangbangin’ in your rap. If you sell crack all day, talk about selling crack all day. Whatever it is that is you. That’s what “Do My Thang” is all about. Just be yourself. If it’s you, do it. If not, don’t do it.” He adds, “Some of my best friends bang. But that’s them. It just never occurred to me to do that.” As far as his home front, Third’s neighborhood is well-known for being Crips territory. “NHC, Neighborhood Crips. Them and Watergate Crips. They’re kind of borderline,” he observes. “Slip from Comptons Most Wanted, he stayed in the Watergate for a while. As far as the NHC, Dub C, Cube and Crazy Tunes stayed there.” He comments that there’s just one little street that separates everybody. The intersection on the album’s cover is the nearby corner of Imperial and Western. However, in many ways, Third’s songs reflect corners all over the country, so his rhymes hit home with those who are both near and far. Jay Z and Ice-T may have “99 Problems,” but Third says he has “Problems” of his own. “The reason I wrote the song “Problems” is that for some reason, people always come talk to me about things they need to get off their chest. So I listen a lot. One day I was arguing with my mother, and that was one of the things that came out. I’m not saying don’t talk to me about your problems. I’m just saying come back in a while, because I have mine to figure out.” Some of Third’s own deepest, personal predicaments are revealed in the song, including the fact he has a handicapped brother. The inspired “Stylistic” is one of Third’s favorite tracks on the album. “I was listening to “Betcha By Golly Wow,” and I like to make up words to songs, so that’s how that came about. It’s basically telling people I have a new style here in L.A.,” says Third. “I studied niggas’ style and found what not to do, it’s the total opposite, I rock it better than you, whoever you are niggas bite and get trophies, a Grammy for their best Tupac on Karaoke.” “Hit This 40” is a party song, and it’s also an anti-gold diggers song. Its 40 proof melody came about much in the same way, but it comes from a Chaka Khan song called “Night In Tunisia,” which Third used that part for the song’s chorus. Going even deeper, he explains, “It’s actually a remake of a Coltrane song or something like that she was doing.” Observes Third, “The culture of Los Angeles is gangs, and people get influenced by it a lot, like the white t-shirts and all, so it definitely isn’t all hip hop here. However, I can take you to places here that are definitely hiphop. But yes, a lot of it is gang culture here. People in the parks out here aren’t breaking and rapping against each other; it’s probably drinking and smoking weed, and a fight is going to break out any minute. But still, there is definitely a hiphop community in this city.” The disc’s determined track “The One” is Third’s way of saying, “I’m entirely here for hiphop.” With “Favorite Shade Of Brown,” it’s all good, and love comes in all shades to Third. “Eye Candy” features Pupa Don, one of the illest West Coast dancehall cats. There are a slew of other radio driven songs on the album, and the Pedestrian is no doubt, walking tall. You’re now at that intersection of hiphop beats and masterful rhymes, as the Pedestrian is making his way through your speakers.

Pink & The Almighty is a magazine focusing primarily on the underground. Underground culture influences the mainstream of which we are always one step ahead. It is the all-preview source for the Los Angeles alternative lifestyle: music, art, movies, sports, fashion, clubs, nightlife and anything else relevant. We’re creating an informative and entertaining magazine that provides a thorough listing of events, spotlighting “hot” bands, art openings, movies, theater, action sports, and misc. oddball happenings. Our Magazine also provides a forum for various mediums of expression including profiles, compelling fiction, political essays, and the like. The magazine is actually a two-parter, making it two physical magazines in one.

Record companies - Because first and foremost, Pink & The Almighty is a music magazine. - We will be featuring your bands, reviewing your records, and listing their shows. - We will have the eyes of a very large market of record consumers.
Retail Shops - Are you seeing fewer and fewer new faces walk in to your store? That’s because no one knows where you are or what you do. We can change that for you with an ad in Pink & The Almighty. - Great way to publicize sales, in stores and other events! - Do I have to spell it out? Our readers have money and they need to know about your shop and what you do.
Restaurants/Coffee Shops - Do you have a great cool restaurant that you want everyone to know about? We can get them word for you. - The Pink features local restaurants and coffee houses. Don’t you want your ad right next to review?

1092827127 - January 1, 1970 By : When I first arrived backstage they told us digital cameras and videocameras were forbidden. Even the tv station in Sweden wasn't allowed to film or take pictures.. After a few hours of waiting 50 Cent and G-unit showed up, they had cleared the backstage area and all backup artists were moved into this big tent or was forced to sit around the taped area so they wouldn't be able to speak to 50 Cent and crew when they arrived. My friend from Kingsize magazine was with me and he did a interview with them the day before after signing a 20 page contract he spoke to them for a few minutes without cameras etc. Youngbuck had been without weed for a few days and all he kept asking him was "can you please get some weed".
Anyways I had spoken to Youngbuck about hooking up so when he saw me in the tent he sent his bodyguard and got me. I went back and met 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Youngbuck. I'll just put it like this he was so happy about Yash gettin him some of that sticky icky that he gave me the hotel room nr with a big smile on his face:)
The Game wasn't there and Tony Yayo had a restraining order so he couldn't leave the country.
They smoked some chronic and headed up the stage to do the show. 50 started with ”What up gangsta”, ”Wanksta” and ”21 questions" in a fastpase tempo then came his biggest hit "In Da Club" and the 10 000+ crowd went crazy. After 15-20 minutes 50 Cent started doing G-Unit songs then Lloyd Banks did "On Fire" with crazy fire effects. Youngbuck later did a few songs from his upcoming album. I was surprised that most of the people knew the lyrics to "Let Me In". Because they haven't played that song in scandinavia that much. After each song they performed they ended with a Gunshot that Dj Whoo Kid is famous for in his mixtapes. 50 Cent finnished up with "If I Can't" and a few other solos. He stopped the music took off his cap and threw it out and told the crowd I gotto give yall something to remember me by then took off his new G Unit Boots and threw those out aswell which unfortunately hit one girl in the head and knocked her unconcious for a few minutes. He even dropped his diamond ring while he threw stuff out but they later found and gave it back to him.
After the show I went to the hotel where we where planning to do a few interviews. Now that The Game and Yayo wasn't there I was thinking of doing a interview with just 50 Cent but he was so tired so he went to his room and slept.
So I took Youngbuck and his peoples to the club called KB in Malmo. Oh boy we had a great time partying we even went on stage got Youngbuck a mic and he rocked the club and tookover the Dj's job.
Youngbucks new album has been pushed back and he has recorded new songs that will replace some of the ones that were leaked to the internet. Youngbuck was one of the nicest most humble people i've ever kicked it with too bad the people in his security and entourage was straight assholes to people in general.
We will post a 50 Cent Interview which my boy from Kingsize magazine did later this month. So be on the lookout for that and make sure you go out and cop Youngbuck's album "Straight Outta Cashville" BOOOOOW!

1095874676 - January 1, 1970 By : "If you listen to my lyrical content, I'm bigging up the West and saying how people forgot about how the West was won. I'm reminding them." — Game
Like his teammate 50 Cent did with "Wanksta," G-Unit's Game wants to get a buzz going by putting out a record for the 'hood, then hitting the masses upside the head with a blockbuster Dr. Dre-produced official single.
So far he feels he's on the right track.
"That's like my 'Wanksta,' " Game said of his current record, "Westside Story," also produced by Dre. "That ain't even the single, that's my street single. It's picking up like crazy. I took the title from the movie ['West Side Story']. If you listen to my lyrical content, I'm bigging up the West and saying how people forgot about how the West was won. I'm reminding them."
"Westside Story" features 50 on the hook rapping, "If you take a look in my eyes/ See I'll be a gangsta till I die/ That California chronic got me so high/ Game, tell 'em where you from/ Westsiiiide." There's also a version of the song with Snoop Dogg saying the identical rhymes as 50.
"Higher," Game's real-deal lead cut produced by the leader of the Aftermath Records squad, should surface soon.
"It's a club knock," he said of the record. "After that, we're off to the races. It's just 'Operation Bring the West Coast Back.' I'm happy to be a part of this sh--. It seems like everything is falling in my hands."
Besides 50 Cent, Dre and Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Nate Dogg and Mary J. Blige will also appear on Game's debut LP. If the Compton MC gets his way, he'll have yet another Cali icon on the album as well: the late Eazy-E. Nothing is definitive, but Game is contemplating adding the mixtape cut "Still Cruising," which features never-before-heard lyrics by Eazy.
"I didn't expect it to blow like it did, but since everybody is loving it, I might have to bonus track that," the 24-year-old said. "Red Spyda and Whoo Kid produced it. I don't know where they got the Eazy vocals from, but they found them. They brought them to me. I know every Eazy verse line-for-line and I never heard that one. I heard it, I ran out the studio. I couldn't believe that. I followed Eazy my whole life and to hear an unreleased Eazy track, I went bonkers."
As the ultimate show of respect to Eazy and Dre, who were both members of legendary rap crew N.W.A, Game wants to title his album N.W.A Volume 1, but that name might hit a red-tape snafu. Regardless, the LP is tentatively scheduled for release before the end of the year. Game is shooting the video for "Higher" in the next couple of weeks.

The human mind also thrives & prospers from fantasy & hope. Perhaps 'Fear of a Mixed Planet' is an intermission from the front line & a visit to the recreation tent."

1097602507 - January 1, 1970 By : MTV.com have some news up on Ice Cube. Check it out below:
Shooting the $118 million "XXX: State of the Union" has been a different sort of movie experience for Ice Cube.
"This movie's taking up a lot of time," the rapper said during a break at a soundstage last week.
Between training for the role and shooting all summer in Baltimore, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., Cube has had little opportunity to work at his other job. An album planned for late '04 is now looking like a fall 2005 release (see "Ice Cube Ready To Work On Solo LP, Still In Talks With Dre").
In the meantime, Cube has found the time to do one track and hopes to do another before his "XXX" sequel hits theaters.
"I did a single with Lil Jon. He from the dirty dirty, so it's gotta be gutter. He flew out here and we put it down. I think he's doin' a rock version of it. It's called 'The Real N---a Roll Call,' so we had to do it right."
The song, which has been called "Roll Call" on mixtapes, will be featured on Jon's Crunk Juice, due November 16 (see "Lil Jon Mixing Up A Potent New Batch Of Crunk Juice"). Cube and Jon are also talking about teaming to do a song for the "XXX: State of the Union" soundtrack.
"I want something hard," Cube said. "So we been kinda putting our brains together trying to come up with it."
But while Cube's been hitting it off with Jon, talks regarding teaming up with Dr. Dre have fizzled.
"I don't know if that situation is gonna work out, but who knows," said Cube, who was poised to record with Dre and sign to the producer's Aftermath imprint (see "Dr. Dre To Produce Next Ice Cube Record"). "Dre got real busy last year, and the year before that he dropped 50. So I'm doing my thing, he doing his. I'd love to [work with] him."
On the movie front, Cube can next be seen alongside Jay Mohr and Nia Long in "Are We There Yet?," opening January 28. "I play a bachelor who don't like kids, [and I'm] trying to get with their mother, and of course they don't like me," Cube said. "So we kind of meet in the middle and by the end of the day we're at each other's throats."
"XXX: State of the Union" follows a few months later, on May 13.

1098868924 - January 1, 1970 By : YinSumi Press, the world's first publishing house dedicated to documenting the political and social aspects of the Hip Hop sub-culture, in conjunction with www.lyricalswords.com , is proud to announce the release of Adisa Banjoko's highly anticipated book "Lyrical Swords Vol. 1: Hip Hop and Politics in the Mix" on November 2nd 2004. "Lyrical Swords" is a collection of essays and interviews on Hip Hop culture and the political, social and spiritual trends within it. Hip Hop culture's political effect has been a highly discussed topic in this Presidential election year. While new to most of America, this arena has been Adisa's stomping ground for over 15 years. Under the pen name "The Bishop of Hip Hop", Adisa Banjoko has entertained and educated many on Hip Hop culture, Eastern philosophy, Martial Arts, Islamic culture, and African American social issues. His new book "Lyrical Swords" however, has garnered much attention in various media circles. Recently, Adisa Banjoko has been seen on KRON with Isabel Duron, Phil Matier and SF Mayor Willie Brown discussing the potential power of the Hip Hop vote. He was also featured on KPIX with Barbara Rogers. Hip Hop Historian Davey D featured Mr. Banjoko as a guest for "Hard Knock Radio" on KPFA radio. He was also a recent guest on Air America's radio show "Unfiltered", hosted by Hip Hop political icon Chuck D of Public Enemy. You can also find his book getting an honorable mention in the new issue of The Ave Magazine. "Lyrical Swords" features intervews and essays with some of Hip Hop's greatest icons including Russell Simmons, Q-Tip, Everlast, Martial Arts Legend Royce Gracie, Paris, Mystic, Dilated Peoples Rakaa, Encore, Shamko Noble, Shaolin Monk Shi Yan Ming, and many others. He is easily one of the most respected, hated and loved people in the Hip Hop community. Mr. Banjoko’s knowledge has earned him countless invitations to lecture at prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Santa Cruz and San Francisco State, just to name a few. He has shared the stage with political and cultural icons such as S.F. Mayor Willie Brown, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich, Hip Hop pioneer Afrika Bambataa, rap legend Chuck D, and pioneer b-boy Crazy Legs. "I'm trying to get the young people of the world to arm themselves mentally and politically" stated Mr. Banjoko. On November 2nd after you go to the polls, vote for yourself and get 'Lyrical Swords'. I'm gonna be touring the continental U.S. the next few months. Before the official tour, I'll be holding Bay Area book jams at Future Primitive Sounds in SF with Champion DJ Kid Dragon and my man B-boy Remind. On the Nov. 5th I'll be at Marcus Books in SF w/ MC Shamako Noble and AK Black. On Nov. 6th I'll be at the Rumi Bookstore in Fremont w/ MC Shamako Noble and Inspector Dbl. Negative. I will also have a mixtape dropping with my man Rob Flow from Spin Dynasty. I plan to change the way we all view Hip Hop and politics." "I sold out of all of my pre-order books at Hip Hop events and political events here in the Bay. I sold them from the back of my Ford F-150. I learned how to hustle watching Short Dog, Master P, Andre Nickatina and E-40 do their thing. People will find me all over the streets of the Bay, LA, NY, the ATL and Philly with this wisdom. Wherever people are getting boxed outta the game by these snakes and fakes, I'm gonna be handing out these swords to liberate minds."
People looking for a glimpse of "the swords" can go to www.lyricalswords.com (designed by graf legend Scape Martinez) and get 3 complimentary chapters of the book sent to them via email.

1099241374 - January 1, 1970 By : First of all I have to say that I am really dissapointed in this album... I'm sure none of us were expecting a classic from Snoop Dogg on the Neptunes label, but atleast something decent.
The newest Snoop Dogg LP features Nelly (!), Lil Jon, Justin Timberlake (!!!), Trina, Daz, Soopafly, Pharell and more.
The main subject of the album is love, alot of love songs or about women in general.
However there a few decent tracks on there, check out 3 preview songs from the record below and make up your own mind wether you will be spending your $15 on this record or not.
Snoop Dogg - Promise I
Snoop Dogg - Step Ya Game Up (ft. Daz)

1099460299 - January 1, 1970 By : Xzibit is set to release "Weapons of Mass Destruction" on December 7th, it will be released on Sony Music. The album features production from Timbaland, Hi-Tek, Rick Rock, Battlecat, Denaun Porter, Jellyroll, Sir Jinx and more. (No word on if the Dr.Dre produced "Grown man business" makes the album, or if it's retitled)
Those who have heard the Timbaland produced first single "Hey Now" will be pleased to know that the album will have more serious subject matters. Xzibit told MTV: "I have always been aware of my surroundings. So not putting that in the forefront of my creativity would be a travesty. I had to put it out there." The first track on the album takes aim at George W. Bush, twisting his own words against him, comparing Bush to his enemies. The Jellyroll produced "Cold World" also have a political message.
About working with Timbaland: "Timbaland was crazy to work with. When he stepped in the studio, it was like working with Morpheus from 'The Matrix' — he stepped in with three beats and said, 'Pick one.' They all sounded crazy, but I could only pick one. I picked one and he hooked me up. I never wrote like that before either. He scatted out something for me and then I wrote the lyrics to it."
Tracklist:
1. State of the Union 2. LAX 3. Cold World 4. Saturday Night Live (featuring Jelly Roll) 5. Muthafucka 6. Beware of Us (featuring Strong Arm Steady) 7. Judgement Day 8. Criminal Set 9. 1100202852 - January 1, 1970 By : Waxploitation Records, a leading record label for hip hop and electronic music, is releasing a charity CD in an attempt to assist in the fight against the Genocide taking place right now in Sudan. The CD, titled Genocide in Sudan, is slated for a November 23rd release and includes Jurassic 5, Danger Mouse/Murs, Jill Scott, Mark Farina, Thievery Corporation, Kinky, X-ecutioners, DJ Spooky, Tweaker, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and Teargas & Plateglass amongst others. More than half the album includes exclusive songs and rarities. According to the UN, the conflict in Sudan has created the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with more than one million people driven from their homes and up to 50,000 people killed by government supported militias (CNN 8/31/04). The systematic rape of women and the murder of children has been widely reported. “We’re trying to address two things with this CD,” says Waxploitation CEO Jeff Antebi, the album’s executive producer. “The first is to get the United Nations to declare the ongoing atrocities a genocide, so that real action can take effect to stop what is obviously an ‘ethnic cleansing’ taking place, in violation of the 1948 Geneva Convention. The second is to raise money for the dire relief situation effecting over 1 million innocent civilians who might die from starvation and disease if aid does not reach them right now.” In 1994 in Rwanda an estimated 800,000 people were killed in just 100 days, in one of the worst genocides of the last century. One of the primary reasons cited for why this happened was a lack of outside intervention by the United Nations. Even with UN troops on the ground in Rwanda, they were unable to intervene because it was not legally declared a Genocide until too late. Waxploitation will donate all of the profits from the Genocide in Sudan CD to the United Nations Refuge Agency and UNICEF (www.unhcr.ch and www.UNICEF.org ), build awareness for solutions that anyone can easily assist with, including signing the petition at (www.darfurgenocide.org/action.htm), and guide people to protests and events in their area. The CD will be available at most major retailers as well as at www.waxploitation.com/genocide. 1100729325 - January 1, 1970 By : MC Eiht has long been considered a “Menace II Society” by his fans, and his crime spree continues with his role in the Rockstar Playstation II video game, “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.” The gangsta game title is currently topping sales statistics around the world. On it, the veteran rapper, Eiht, plays the role of the featured character, Ryder, and the song, “Hood Took Me Under” from his group, Comptons Most Wanted is included on its soundtrack. Just a few weeks ago, he also released a solo album, “Veterans Day” on West Music/Native Records and the album made its way on the “Billboard” Top 100 R&B Albums chart.
Although in addition to his music, Eiht is also famous for his role as A-Wax in the feature film, “Menace II Society,” the rapper says, “I would compare Ryder’s character more to O Dog from the movie than to A-Wax, because he’s more reckless, and he’s more drug induced. A-Wax was still down for the neighborhood, but Ryder is an instigator, and he likes to pump up the other characters, especially his homeboy CJ. Ryder likes to instigate and get trouble started. He’s on dope and he’s always smoking, plus he’s hyper about getting trouble started.”
Rockstar Games’ Dan Houser, the executive producer of the game, which market analysts predict will help make this holiday buying season a record breaker for new games, says, “Eiht’s powerful and funny delivery insures that Ryder steals the show. From the moment we walked into the studio, we knew he was going to blow us away with his performance.”
“Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” debuted at the Number 1 spot on the UK game charts, and according to industry estimates, the gangsta title sold more than 2 million copies during the first 2 weeks of its release. “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” was developed by Take-Two Interactive Software, an imprint of Rockstar Games.
Eiht says the combination of West Coast elements with the game world makes perfect sense. He observes, “Basically, one game was pretty much East Coast, and there was Vice City, which was Miami-based, or whatever. So now basing one on the West Coast, which is where the name San Andreas fits in, that is taken from our earthquake fault, and then hooking up with people like me and DJ Pooh, and getting that West Coast feel, you can only base the game around gangs and the element of the West Coast lifestyle. That means it is essentially gang bangin,’ drive-by shootings, drugs, police corruption and police brutality, all of that element. So it was only right, and this is not to say that is how all people live out here, but that element and culture would fit right here.”
As far as both the exponential success and the reaction to the gangsta phenomenom that is being incorporated into the game world, Eiht notes, “In the other games, you’re playing the stereotypical characters named Joe or Bill, and he’s been robbed by the mob. But in making it West Coast originated, and by putting gangs and drive-bys in it, activities that normally go on in the West Coast, it makes the game more realistic for people to play. Kids relate to the game because they know that stuff is what really happens. It is more realistic to them, because this stuff is going on everywhere, and not just on the West Coast, either, so it appeals to them. With this game, you really put yourself in the settings of living in Los Angeles and living in the gang scenario. This game shows what’s really going on in the streets.”
As far as the game’s music soundtrack, Eiht says, “They took a classic Comptons Most Wanted song, “Hood Took Me Under,” and they put it on the game. That song describes the scenario the players are dealing with. You’re stuck in the ‘hood, you’re having rivalries and shootouts, and you have enemies. Back in the day, that was the perfect song, and one that people felt, because there were so many black people, who were stuck in the neighborhood, stuck in poverty, stuck in the struggle, so that song fit what so many people were going through. When Rockstar was looking at all the possibilities of what songs to use in the game, they knew you could not do a West Coast video game without a classic Comptons Most Wanted song. Originally, they had contacted me because they needed to have permission to use the song in the game. Everything was good. We built a relationship, and they asked me to play the character, so it just fell into place like that.”
Eiht also says he wants it to be known that the success of “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” is important for hiphop. He points out, “It will touch a lot of people who maybe weren’t previously interested in hiphop. The game introduces them to a whole new realm, and it will help open the door of hiphop to expand to a whole new era. Millions of people will have this game, and it’s significant, whereas it becomes incorporated into the rap game. So it’s beautiful for all who are involved. It gets more people exposed to hiphop, even if they never really wanted to before.”
Eiht says he is constantly approached these days by “all kinds of people,” who have asked him to autograph the game. “Kids come up to me saying they heard my song in the game,” says Eiht. “It happens on the streets, just everywhere. Not just kids have the game, but even old people have the game.” Eiht adds, “There are also people who come up to me and tell me it’s a challenge to get to my character.”
It has all been very rewarding to the players of the game, as well as to Eiht, himself. He contends, “It’s another experience that people get to indulge in, especially when it incorporates hiphop, and one of their favorite rappers who represents the ‘hood.”
MC Eiht’s West Music signed an alliance with Native Records to distribute his current release, “Veterans Day,” through Penalty Associated Labels/Ryko. Ken M. Smith, president of Native Records states, "Eiht's current album, "Veterans Day," could also be the soundtrack for the game, because the tales that Eiht raps about on the album coincide in many ways with the story line of the game. Lovers of the game will definitely be lovers of "Veterans Day."

Blunts is an emcee out of South Central and has been putting in work, in the Hip Hop scene, for years. I'm pretty sure a lot of you have slept on him, but it's time to wake up. 1102381206 - January 1, 1970 By : Mark it on your calendars people! January 25th, 2005!!! The Geto Boys are back! Willie D, Scarface & Bushwich Bill's new album War & Peace is dropping on Rap-A-Lot Records and is already looking promising. As usual, it's being executive produced by J.Prince. I know I can't wait for it. DubCNN, like we always do, bring you the exclusives. Here's the first video for ya'll to peep out. It's called Yes Yes Ya'll. I dig the video. It shows the group back in the hood and still in the club. There's plenty of good lookin' women in it and cameos from Juvenile, Slim Thug & Bun B.
Also, here's what Willie D has to say:
"It’s definitely not a departure from the old Geto Boys shit. The only thing that is really different about the album is the beats are more up-tempo. But our energy level is still the same and our subject matter is still the same. We’re still championing the cause of the underserved. We’re still Geto Boys for life.”
As you can see it's official! I'm glad to see these dudes back. Real legends in the game, still putting out quality records.

1102553873 - January 1, 1970 By : I just wanted to pay respect to a local lady who wasn't afraid to play West Coast music and unsigned artists that were hungry to be heard. You'll be missed Break-A-Dawn =(
MAITLAND, Fla. -- Orlando radio listeners are mourning the loss of a local morning show personality.
Complications from pregnancy killed Dawn Blackstone Fleming Wednesday morning, who used the on-air name "Break-A-Dawn," WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.
She was a newlywed and a new mom.
Break-A-Dawn was part of the "Wake-Up Posse" on the morning drive at 102 JAMZ. She handled community and entertainment news for the hip-hop station and used her talents to help dozens of charities in Central Florida.
Earnest James, the senior vice president at 102 JAMZ, said everyone at the station feels they've just lost a family member. Fleming was more than an on-air talent: She was the station's leader in community outreach and a sparkplug personality with a warm heart who will be sadly missed.
She was newly married and set to deliver her first child when doctors told her she was having trouble with dangerously high blood pressure. She went off the air and into the hospital last month. She delivered her new daughter just before Thanksgiving, but then lapsed into a coma.
"The birth of her child is what she gave her life for. So, it's important that I do my part to recognize Dawn as the heroine that she was," James said.
Just 31 years old, Fleming lost her battle Wednesday morning. Her co-workers are being offered grief counseling, and sympathy cards are likely to pour into the station, joining the dozens of thank-you notes and awards from the charitable organizations that benefited from Break-A-Dawn's weekly broadcasts that focused on people most in need.
Karen Yeager, who runs Place of Comfort in Longwood, said she'll remember Fleming not just for her radio broadcasts that helped her agency collect food and toys, but for her personal commitment to help struggling kids and families.
"She truly had the heart of a volunteer. How else to be remembered? She really has a legacy," she said.
On her station Web site's bio page, Break-A-Dawn wrote: "We are not promised tomorrow."
Her co-workers now understand that painful truth.
"Her way would have been to live fully for today," James said.
102 JAMZ has been flooded with calls about Fleming. Funeral arrangements are being made as her family struggles to cope. Station management said at least one of the services being planned will be open to the public.
One ray of light in all of this: Her new daughter, born premature, appears to be healthy and doing well.

1103901413 - January 1, 1970 By : Wednesday December 22, 2004 at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood found DubCNN in the midst of one of the illest shows this year. The line up included headliners and people you brought us this amazing show, the F.I.L.T.H.E.E. Immigrants, as well as Underground legends Mykill Myers, 2Mex & Busdriver. Along with plenty of Up and Coming artists like Global City, Borettta, Second State, Fats and others.
How much was it to get in you ask? 5 dollars or a Toy. All of these artists came out in support of a Toy drive! That's real ill. As they said during the show, "This time of the year is for the kids." The house was packed there's gonna be some very happy kids this Christmas. Props to Rif, Dutch & F.I.L.T.H.E.E. for putting this together.
The show was a heat rock in it's own. Everyone was given 10 minutes to do their set. And it moved very quickly. There was only one point of dead time during the entire show that boasted performances from over 10 artists. Pretty damn good, if you ask me.
All the acts were good. But, it wasn't until 2Mex and crew came out, that the crowd got crazy. On the first song of his set, a Mosh pit erupted. F.I.L.T.H.E.E. Immigrants continued the onslaught of hard hitting jams, keeping the Mosh pit going strong. But, when they brought out the special guests of the night, the place was truely bumping. For the first time since 1998, Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm and B-Real were on the same stage performing together. Along with Street Platoon, it was a perfect way of ending the night.
So, not only did the kids get a treat, but so did the fans. They witnessed Hip Hop history! Again, I'd like to thank the F.I.L.T.H.E.E. Immigrants for putting this together and giving back to the community. Also, I really would like to thank them for showing DubCNN so much love. Pick up their muthafuckin' album!!!!! Shouts to everyone who came out to support the kids!

1104460052 - January 1, 1970 By : The homie Mauzip talked to Chicago based and former Cash Money Records rapper Mikkey. Before I start talking about the interview, I’d like to take this opportunity to point out that Mikkey is dope as hell and is fuckin slept on! Not only is this man -who worked among others with the likes of TQ, Mack 10, Kanye West and Jazze Pha- very gifted as a rapper, but lyrically he belongs to the top of the rap industry also. In this interview Mikkey talked about his time on Cash Money, his anger towards Baby, his affiliation with Kanye West, upcoming projects and much much more! On top of the exclusive interview Mikkey also dropped a freestyle for ya’ll to check out!
