news 1188899610 - January 1, 1970 By : Delaware's own Fred Knuxx has been a staple artist on Dubcnn since 2004 with his various releases and appearances on projects coast to coast. From his DJ Kurupt hosted mixtape; "The Repo Man - Taking The Game Back," which can be downloaded here, to his long awaited debut album "Delafornia."

In June we released the "Delafornia" album sampler, an 8 minute showcase of the album that will feature artists including Spider Loc, Eastwood, Akil from Jurassic 5, Bad Lucc, Jazzy D, Bangloose, Problem, Mykestro, Dresta The Gangsta, Coniyac and many more - due for release in late 2007.

Today we are back with news that one of the hardest working men in the industry is preparing three releases that will lead up to his debut album; one a mixtape entitled "Face Of De" due out next week, and two collaboration projects, one with AO and the second with westcoast up and comer Noni Spitz entitled "Coastal Conflict."

We have some audio from the latter project "Coastal Conflict" to premiere today, a freestyle track with Fred Knuxx and Noni Spitz entitled "The Game." The new record sees the duo do what they do best over the beat of the same name produced by Kanye West from Common's latest album "Finding Forever."

Well as promised I'm back with some exclusive audio from the mixtape. Matter of fact I put together a 5 minute sampler of the mixtape, to give ya'll an idea of what most of the songs sound like.

The first song on the sampler is produced by Dr. Dre and is called "Synonomous II". Other producers include Rick Rock & Fredwreck. Check out the sampler in MP3 quality below, and be on the lookout for the mixtape to drop on mixtapemp3.com.

"The mixtape is called W.I.M.S. Radio, Walk In My Shoes, cause basically I'm taking everybody on a walk through my shoes, showing you what my sound and my style and basically all about.", he says about the mix CD. "I'm bringing something new, fresh to the West Coast, hard core Hip-Hop soul, that's what I'm bringing, with a high lyrical content. The whole mix CD is based on the title "mixtape album" cause when you pop it in, the quality of the songs, everything is original, it's all album material, but we mixed it up, got it sounding like a mixtape. It's hosted by Mike Live from K-Day and Gangsta Granny, so it's got a whole radio feel to it, it's hot!"

He's also got some of the hottest New West artists featured on "Walk In My Shoes", Bishop Lamont, Roccett, Scipio, Dae One, Taje, Mykestro just to name a few. Noni Spitz is part of Jazzy Management, along side Clinton Wayne, The Young Hoggs, Fred Knuxx and more, so that should be a hint towards the quality of the music you can expect from Noni Spitz.

Bun B mentioned him as one of his favorites in his dubcnn interview, he's co-signed by Kanye West and Jay-Z, and now he's officially under the wing of musical mastermind Mark Ronson. It looks like this could be Wale's year and in preparation for his album, the shoe fanatic is releasing a "Mixtape About Nothing". We have a track off the tape available for ya'll to check out, peep "The Perfect Plan" below:

Wale - The Perfect Plan

We've been reporting on Delaware rapper Fred Knuxx for a minute now. His planned solo album "Delafornia" still hasn't come out, but he's keeping the buzz alive through various mixtape appearances, and will be putting a new video to "Get Lost" and a new tape called "The King Of Grind" within the next few weeks. On there he jumped on Prodigy's joint "The Life" off P's current LP "HNIC 2", check it out below:

Prodigy - The Life (Remix) (ft. Fred Knuxx)

Let's get to another artist who long time dubcnn visitors will be familar with. I'm talking about South Central's own Wallet. We brought you his mixtape "In My Grindtime Vol. 2" last year, and now he's leaked a new street single on which he linked up with producer Dem Jointz. The track has a cool little club feel to it, definitely worth a listen. Check out "Sittin' High" by Wallet producedy by Dem Jointz below:

Wallet - Sittin' High (Prod. by Dem Jointz)

Last but not least is a new single by up and coming rapper Trey-C. He reached out to Glasses Malone and Ya Boy to join him on the remix of his track "Showboatin'", which also features singer Matt Blaque, who you heard on Yukmouth's "Hey Boy". The result is certified banger with mainstream appeal, make sure to check out the "Showboatin' (Remix)" below:

news 1089677637 - January 1, 1970 By : Goddaaaaaaaaaamn, what a show! Last night, at the Henry Fonda Theater, a live crowd witnessed the reunion of some of both coasts most notorious artists. Mobb Deep had their anticipated show with Sly Boogy opening up, but it turned out to be much more than just a Mobb Deep show.

Mobb Deep, Kurupt, Jayo Felony, 40 Glocc, Boo Yaa TRIBE, Eastwood, Dilated Peoples, Alchemist, Bushwick Bill, Tri-Star and many more, all on one stage???? Now that's some shit!

The Riflemen is official, oh boy, it is official! After Havoc & Prodigy performed a few of their hits including Shook Ones, they called the Riflemen along with everybody else on stage, and from then on, it was a party on stage. Everywhere you looked, a big name artist was rocking off. The Mob put down a hot show, and with Jayo's new invention, which brings the left half of the crowd to yell out "FUCK THAT SIDE" to the right half, the crowd was really and into it and rowdy.

Everything remained peaceful though, it was a hot ass show, and hopefully this is just the beginning of a flourishing relationship between Mobb Deep & Riflemen. After the West Coast left the stage, Mobb Deep closed it off with some more cuts including their current smash hit "Twisted".

DUBCNN was present for you, from back at the hotel before the show, to backstage, to on stage, to back at the hotel after the show. We have tons of pics, aswell as a 1hour+ film. The movie aint on the computer yet but for now you can check out some of the pictures below:

We do this by combining the presence of celebrities along with sponsors such as Pepsi, Pro-Line hair care and Dada Foot Wear that gives the student a totally fun experience while we are on campus.

We are proposing a one week, seven city college tour, that will run from April 15th until the 22nd, 2005. The tour will act as a caravan of exposure for your up and coming acts who are looking to connect with an audience that’s likely to consume their projects. We will maximize the college market for your artists by putting them on campuses in a festive environment. We will set up an autograph session from 11 AM to 1PM in each school’s student union. During this time we will entertain students with games, giveaways and music. We will also invite local media (news, video show, magazines, and newspapers) to cover the event. We will spend the rest of the afternoon making scheduled appearances. Then we will return to the campus in the evening for a performance. In some cases we will perform on campus during lunch.

Past tour participants include David Banner (With Crooked Lettaz), Young Bloodz, C-Murder, Do Or Die, Mr. Short Khop, Beelow, Red Café, Messy Marv to name a few. The headliner will be announced in February.

Grooveline has put together an all inclusive tour that will provide for all the artist’s needs, while supplying the label with the manpower it needs to properly promote an artists.

Grooveline Magazine is offering the following package:

1. Provide transportation for four people per group. (45 ft, 50 passenger charter bus)

2. Provide two rooms per night in a three star hotel. (Holiday Inn, Ramada, Hilton)

news 1107831661 - January 1, 1970 By : The second issue of Hood Grown Magazine goes to the presses today. This issue contains the following interviews and features: A Tribute to Ol' Dirty Bastard, Hip Hop Beef-The Next Level?, How To Start A Record Company For Under $1000, The Game, Ciara, Cormega, Miri Ben-Ari, Lord Have Mercy, Noah, Angelous, Maverick Video, Record Reviews, Hood Grown Girl of the Month, and Upcoming Artist & Producers. It's also includes a free Amplifire sampler cd inside every issue all for only 50 cents!!!!!!

Hood Grown's purpose is to cover urban music in a street oriented, yet intelligent manner with content driven by artist, music, and African A0merican culture as it pertains to the art form. The magazine is 36 pages, features full colors covers on 80lb glossy paper, with black & white insides on 70lb glossy paper, and is published bi-monthly.

One of the unique aspects of Hood Grown magazine is that it fosters the discovery of new music and artists whether they're on a major or independent music label. We're one of the few magazines where you'll see major artists featured along side independent artists with no seperation based on the celebratory status of their record label. Our specialty is featuring unknown upcoming labels, artists, &roducers exposing them to an audience that might have little knowledge of them.

To this end we have decided to provide Hood Grown magazine at a minimal cost to the consumer in order to gain readership for those with limited budgets who would be more likely to pick up XXL or the Source magazines. Hood Grown magazine's cover price is 50 cents and in some stores it is given away for free. In order to do this, Hood Grown is totally advertiser supported. We understand the limited budgets of most independent labels and have priced our advertising rates so that even the most cash strapped label can afford to advertise their product.

Hood Grown magazine is distributed to "mom & pop" and specialty stores throughout the country through Clout Distribution, Domination Distribution, and in the Newbury Comics chain of stores. Currently in talks with Barnes & Nobles and Borders.

For more information go to:
HoodGrown.com

Hood Grown Magazine (wwww.hoodgrown.com), the new Hip Hop magazine with it's focus on featuring major and indie artists without bias, will soon be launching it's new endeavor, Hood Grown Records (www.hoodgrownrecords.com). With the launch of Hood Grown
Records, the focus of this new upstart is to bring back the spirit of Rawkus Records in it's hey day.

"With the success of artists such as Kayne West, we feel the climate is right to release hip hop artists who want to release hard hitting, intelligent music, and don't feel the need to conform to the commercial formats dominating popular radio and video shows." said Christopher English, CEO of Hood Grown Records. "We can use our magazine to get our music in the public eye and use our distribution channels to get it in stores."

The first release on the new Hood Grown Records imprint will be the BombSounding Compilation which will be followed by an EP release from upcoming artist, Frozen Heat.

news 1109103472 - January 1, 1970 By : Yes sir, you read correct! We done did it again! Last saturday, myself, Yash & the big homie Lil Jay had the chance to hook up with Bigg Snoop Dogg after his show in Cologne, Germany, with The Game opening up for him. We have all of this on video, yes sir, a Snoop Dogg video interview!

Time was limited, but I believe the most important questions that have been very requested by the fans were answered. Yash had his "Free Tray Deee" shirt on, so you know Snoop had to speak on the Tray Deee/Eastsidaz situation. He also talked about the 213 and why it wasn't promoted well, his relationship with Dr. Dre and how he's still pushing for that Break Up To Make Up album. He also answered my question about working with producers like Battlecat, Meech Wells & Fredwreck again, and hooking back up with his old people such as Bad Azz and others. His answer to Jay's question, wether he will be going back to his Gangsta style, G-Funk, will probably anger alot of you... But hey, that's how he feels!

Highlights are him announcing that The Lady Of Rage is back in the studio, and his statement on Kurupt is very interesting too. We were pleased to see that Snoop is up on his internet game, and knew all about DubCNN already.

This is not all that's coming though, in a few days we will have some exclusive video footage from the show up for those who weren't there, and we also conducted a video interview with Soopafly, who answered alot of questions.

And in addition to all that, we also have an exclusive video interview with Snoop's 213 buddy Warren G coming. Matter of fact, we have TWO Warren G video interviews completed, yes sir!

'Nuff talk, check out the video footage of Snoop Dogg now by clicking below:

news 1118523093 - January 1, 1970 By : The Atlanta duo Ying Yang Twins have found success as of late with their first single off their new album United States Of Atlanta, entitled "Wait (The Whisper Song)." The Twins keep a whisper flow through out the entire song telling the ladies how they're going to put it on them in bed. As with any hit, people hop at the chance to Remix it or put their own spin on the track.

Philly Producer Extratrodinaire, Chops, is well known for his Remixes. He flipped the track with his own beat and add his own verse! As of late he's remixed Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot," Swisha House's "Still Tippin'" and many others. Underground heads will remember Chops from his group the Mountain Bros. Others might remember his 2004 album Virtuosity which featured Ras Kass, Planet Asia, Phil Da Agony, Bahamadia, Kanye West and many others.

So if his resume doesn't impress you, then go a head and peep

Ying Yang Twins feat. Chop - Wait (Chops Remix)

As an added bonus, check out 15 minutes of Chops' latest Mixtape with DJ Lt. Dan, It's Going Down, hosted by Houston staple Paul Wall.

Chops & DJ Lt. Dan - It's Going Down Mixtape Sampler hosted by Paul Wall.

"Dale duro, dale duro, dale duro, dale du!" Next up, Dade County's Finest, Pitbull teams up with the H-Town's Chingo Bling to flip the Twins' track.

Mr. Bad Boy Latino and the Tamale Kingpin have been putting it down together a lot lately and this song is a great showing of their chemistry on tracks. The Cuban/Mexican combo go hard dropping their Spanglish rhymes in the whisper flow!

Here's the track:

who are looking to connect with an audience that’s likely to consume
their projects. We will maximize the college market for your artists by putting them on campuses in a festive environment. We will set up an autograph session from 11 AM to 1PM in each school’s student union.
During this time we will entertain students with games, giveaways and
music. We will also invite local media (news, video show, magazines, and newspapers) to cover the event. We will spend the rest of the afternoon making scheduled appearances. Then we will return to the campus in the evening for a performance. In some cases we will perform on campus during lunch.

Past tour participants include David Banner (With Crooked Lettaz),

news 1129623507 - January 1, 1970 By : Another new westcoast act that many of you may not be familiar with is the group, NV. The duo consists of Absolute and Dolla, two young men who have grown up in L.A. and come together to form the group NV. Absolute speaks on the groups focus: ""The hip hop community is used to the norm. As a group, people feel like we should have a similar sound or flow but I think thats where n*ggas fail at. Its time for something fresh and new."

Regarding the name NV, Dolla revealed: "The name came with our experience. In school we were the flashy n*ggas that had what other n*ggas wanted but n*ggas know we are street niggas so they never came at us but it was obvious that the envy was there."

Initially the duo started out with their sights set on gaining money and fame however over a period of time maturity set in and the goals of the group changed: "I started rappin as a hobby. I met a producer back in high school and told him i rapped and he put me on. N*ggas in the hood were feelin it so I chose to pursue it and then brought Dolla on." to which Dolla replied, "I didnt rap at all but after we did our first show and we seen the reaction i fell in love with it. I saw it as a way to make money but me and Loot [Absolute] both realize its much bigger than that. We speak on what we've experienced and what we see which can be the same way a n*gga from my hood feels, a person from the sub-burbs or even someone in another country may be feeling. When you listen to Pac, Jay-Z, Game and 50 and see how their music reaches people who dont even speak your lanuage thats big. Its time for us to share our experiences with the world as well."

So with all the background on the group and it's goals laid down i know you will want to hear some product! NV currently have a compilation in the streets called Go Hard or Go Home which features production from Goldeneye, THX, J Classic, Ink, And Ric Rude. news 1138437707 - January 1, 1970 By : With Tuesday, February 21 2006 already looming i'm back with the new Dilated Peoples album cover, tracklist and a link to the album sampler. The trio’s first three albums - 2000’s The Platform, 2001’s Expansion Team and 2004’s Neighborhood Watch may be a distant memory to some however over the years they have been hailed as exemplary examples of quality hip-hop. After enjoying the biggest radio and television exposure of their career with the 2004 hit "This Way," produced by and featuring Kanye West, Dilated Peoples have opted to make a point that they had a clear vision for their music, hence the title for the new album, "20/20":

"We’ve done a lot of experimentation, worked with a lot of different people and tried a lot of different things. With this record, we wanted to really get back to a real, uncut pure vision and get back to the pure, boom-bap sound that really made us all get together as people and want to make music together," Rakaa explains.

Last year dubcnn premiered the lead single "Back Again" which sees DJ Babu (also a member of the World Famous Beat Junkies) accenting the thumping cut with his precision scratching while both Evidence and Rakaa update their fans on their musical agenda and highlight their dedication to the art of rhyme. Evidence explained: "In today’s rap game, people are worried about whether or not I’m making money, but it’s not glorified that I’m writing my own rhymes or making my vision clear; I just felt it was a bold statement and needed to be said."

Other tracks on the album include "Alarm Clock Music," where the crew get across equally thought-provoking rhymes over a powerful, keyboard and scratch-propelled beat. Rakaa said: "We named the song ‘Alarm Clock Music’ because it is supposed to wake people up. We wanted the beat and those cuts to come across like that. Lyrically, the third verse in particular had to do with conflict, whether it’s on the block or nation to nation. It doesn’t matter if it’s across the street or across the world because they’re very closely related. The song itself is a wake-up call."

"You Can’t Hide, You Can’t Run," is a cut where the group raps about making the best of a bad situation: "Life is going to come at you regardless," Rakaa says. "It doesn’t mean you can’t flip lemons to lemonade and lemonade to Minute Made. You can make the best of a bad situation and I think it’s more necessary than ever. There’s no shortage of nonsense coming at you because it’s a crazy world right now."

Dilated Peoples then get aggressive on the confrontational "Kindness For Weakness" before teaming up with reggae king Capleton on the pounding, politically charged "Firepower (The Tables Have To Turn)." Elsewhere Evidence highlights his lyrical acuity on the intense "Another Sound Mission" and DJ Babu showcases his superior turntable and production skills on the scratch-heavy "The One And Only."

The beats on the album come from Alchemist, Evidence, Joey Chavez and Bravo and DJ Babu and are among the most forceful of Dilated People’s career. The group made a point to feature intense production on "20/20," something that makes the album an exciting aural experience that will translate well to the group’s highly regarded stage shows. DJ Babu explains: "We said to ourselves, ‘The energy levels have to be up, a big part of our group is performance. Another way of looking at the songs that we make for the record is things that we’re adding to our live show. That’s another side of us that fans really love us for, having music that translates well onto stage. Rakaa put it well when said, ‘A lot times when we’re in the studio we try to capture the energy that happens on stage.'"

Evidence wrapped up by explaining: "20/20, the whole album was made on a 12" mentality, we weren’t worried about the whole album, how it was going to connect and if we had two love songs and one party song. We just banged it out. We put the record together two or three days before the end of it. We didn’t sit and ride with it. We had it and knew where we were going, but it was more about the individual tunes. There was no questioning ourselves. It was just about making music."

As ever dubcnn has the audio we have already premiered over the past few months for those who missed to check and as we recently featured the new Dilated Peoples video as "Video of the Week" i have that for you all again too. news 1139554466 - January 1, 1970 By : Look out for the "Greatest Hits Live" DVD coming soon from DJ Quik and the Mad Science camp.

I recently had the opportunity to attend the DJ Quik Greatest Hits Live show at the House of Blues on Sunset. Here is a brief review I found, written by BEN QUIÑONES of L.A. Weekly. (This review is in reference to the February 3rd show)

"My Grammy Week got poppin’ tonight with a DJ Quik show that was off the hinges! A perm'd out Quik walked out and warned the audience, “This is something you don’t see in a hip-hop show.” True that: With a nine-piece live band and two back-up singers, Quik began to rap (or sing, really) classics from his first album, Quik Is the Name, like “Sweet Black Pussy,” “Born and Raised in Compton,” and the cool irie -feelin’ reggae hit “Tha Bombudd.” Bass player Erick Coomes made the night sound real deep-funky, especially on the James Brown cover “The Payback.” Quik also went into his new album, Trauma, including “Fandango” — with B-Real at his side — “Till Jesus Comes,” and “Black Mercedes,” with Nate Dogg joining him onstage. Quik even brought out surprise guest Chingy on the cut “Get Down.” For the encore he performed “Tonite,” and celebrated the night with some Veuve Clicquot champagne, some bottles of which he passed out to his loyal fans. We saw producer Fredwreck, Power 106’s Big Boy, Capitol Records’ Richie Abbott and the Mijares clan, Sara and Zazil. (Man, those girls can dance!) Quik finished things off by stage diving into the crowd. It was a night to remember."

** Robert Bacon was also playing with the band throughout the whole set.

news 1139855892 - January 1, 1970 By : Bay Area revolutionary Paris is one of the so-called "underground" artists with a very loyal fan-base that stays supporting the rapper, who never fails to deliver music for those still fighting the system. Never allowing himself to get drawn into the watered-down rap category, Paris recently produced the entire latest Public Enemy album "Rebirth Of A Nation", which is in stores March 7th through Guerilla Funk Recordings.

Also dropping the same day is a compilation called "Hard Truth Soldiers Vol. 1". Started as a response to the current apolitical climate in commercial music, the "Hard Truth Soldiers compilation series is a rallying cry for social justice. Each volume is a collection of material that goes against the grain of commercial hip-pop by providing content of substance, touching on subjects ranging from war and police brutality to black on black crime and domestic violence.

And the Hard Truth Soldiers don't miss a beat.

Featuring Paris' trademark massive sonic production, Volume 1 showcases contributions from Public Enemy, The Coup, Dead Prez, Paris, T-KASH, Kam, The Conscious Daughters, MC Ren, Sun Rise Above, and The S.T.O.P. Movement (Mobb Deep, Tray Deee, Soopafly, KRS-One, Defari, Daz, J-Ro, RBX, Bad Azz, WC, Dilated Peoples, Mac Minister, The Alchemist, Mack 10, Evidence, Defari, Everlast, and B-Real), among others. Fredwreck produced the two S.T.O.P. Movement tracks.

Some of the tracks you may have heard before, others are new. Whatever the case, this is all powerful music, don't sleep on it. I have the tracklisting, along with two preview tracks for ya'll to download below.

The first track is by Bay Area artist T-K.A.S.H., who really gets a chance to shine on this compilation. His solo track "Made In America" is my personal favorite, a real banger. Check it out below:

The second one features once again T-K.A.S.H., who on this one hooks up with Paris and the Conscious Daughters. By the names alone you know this is gonna be a hard one, and you won't be dissapointed. Revolutionary rhymes over a pounding beat, check it below:

news 1140744484 - January 1, 1970 By : San Diego's hope Mitchy Slick is finally ready to release his sophomore album. After the smash album "Triggeration Station", Mitchy had everybody fiending for more Wrong Kind music. He's also part of the Strong Arm Steady crew with Xzibit, Krondon & Phil Da Agony. Now, after settling for Angeles Records as his new home, Mitch is set to drop his highly anticipated "Urban Survival Syndrome" on May 16th 2006.

Check out the official press release below:

After releasing two huge albums in one day on October 25, 2005 – DJ Muggs vs. GZA/The Genius “Grandmasters” and Self Scientific “Change” – Angeles Records has announced the next big thing…Urban Survival Syndrome from MITCHY SLICK . Urban Survival Syndrome, or USS, will hit the streets on May 16th, 2006.

After building a name for himself on the local scene in San Diego, also known as the “Salty D,” with his independent label Wrong Kind Records and his smash independent album “Triggeration Station” Mitchy became a member of the Strong Arm Steady crew alongside Xzibit, Krondon and Phil the Agony. After working with DJ Khalil, and building a business friendship with DJ Muggs, Mitchy chose Angeles Records for the home of Urban Survival Syndrome. “My thing was that Muggs and them got a steady track record of keeping they businesses running. I peeped they style and how they get down it wasn’t like most of these labels that’s really a gang or ‘hood or family-oriented – Angeles just seemed like a regular record label to me. ‘Cause I’m about business, I’ve already done a lot of ‘hood shit, now it’s about business,” explains Mitchy.

DJ Muggs is equally excited about the working relationship with Mitchy and the upcoming album, “Mitch has a great work ethic, and he’s built himself a following already. I’ve been peeping him for a while – the way he moves is straight business and he understands the way the game works – on top of being the next big thing out of the west,” Muggs explains. “When I got him in the studio, he works like a vet. Ya’ll better recognize Mitchy Slick…the new West.”

The album’s title, Urban Survival Syndrome, is based on an actual disorder. After releasing Triggeration Station, Mitchy came up with the title for USS because Urban Survival Syndrome is a last option used in murder cases or urban-area cases. There was a cat named Damian Osby – he caught 2 murder beefs in Texas. He basically tried to use the fact that he didn’t have no other choice because of his environment and what he grew up having to endure. That was his defense plea in his case, just like post-trauma! tic stress disorder.”

Unlike many “gangsta rappers” and studio gangsters, Mitchy Slick is the product of the rough streets of San Diego – a place where youth are bred to become gang members. Mitchy himself was indoctrinated into gang life in the most unlikely of places – a youth football league. “Pop Warner was the hangout, and the Pop Warner colors were the color of my gang. That’s slick though, I’m 9 years old, I’m the quarterback, the linebacker is lookin’ at me crazy, and they got on the color that their gang wear – the red and black – and I got on the color my neighborhood wear – green – and at 9 years old, you expect me to make the right choice about gangbanging?”!

Mitchy Slick is a new breed of street MC, who hustles harder at the music business than he did in the streets. And with production from DJ Muggs, DJ Khalil, and Fredwreck; Urban Survival Syndrome is sure to rock the streets and the airwaves alike.

news 1144316866 - January 1, 1970 By : As Dubcnn previously reported, Tha Dogg Pound are getting ready to drop their new album entitled "Cali Iz Active" on June 27th. We recently premiered the self titled single from the album, "Cali Iz Active", featuring Snoop Dogg with production by Battlecat. The promotion for the album will be starting in the next couple of weeks, so you will definitely read and hear a lot about this album right here on Dubcnn. Here is the official press release:

(April 4, 2006) - Los Angeles, CA - It was over ten years ago that Tha Dogg Pound laced the music world with their multiplatinum-selling debut album, Dogg Food. With Bigg Snoop Dogg again at the helm along with Daz Dillinger and Kurupt a.k.a. Young Gotti, the bangin' and much-anticipated new disc CALI IZ ACTIVE is re-energizing the Golden State music movement and galvanizing the West Coast.

"We just came back together and made a classic Dogg Pound gangsta album," says Daz Dillinger. "Some of the original G sounds with a new twist, new millennium G shit!" adds Kurupt.

Doggy Style Records in conjunction with KOCH Records will release Tha Dogg Pound's new album, "Cali Iz Active", on June 27, 2006. The CD follows Snoop's "Welcome to Tha Chuuch - Da Album", which contained the Dogg Pound heater, "Real Soon."

This summer, Tha Dogg Pound will open for Ice Cube in a national tour which is set to kick off on April 20th in Anaheim, CA and run through June. The West Coast bill is sure to be one of the hottest tickets around.

Besides Daz and Kurupt spittin' fire on the mic, the new album features Tha Dogg Pound family (Snoop Dogg, RBX, Soopafly, and Bad Azz). Also appearing are B-Real, Busta Rhymes, David Banner, Paul Wall and producing legends Battlecat, Fredwreck, The Alchemist, Swizz Beatz, Jazzy Phae and Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs. "A lot of people came together to make this Dogg Pound record the biggest and best it can be, and with Snoop's leadership we can never go wrong," says Kurupt.

"I'm like the quarterback," says Snoop Dogg, "putting the team together, gluing it together. I'm the one that puts everything in the proper perspective. Get everyone thinking alike, moving alike, loving alike. Let everybody know that it's built on love first. If we love each first, the music will kick right in."

Tha Dogg Pound album's long list of hardcore cuts will be strong contenders for heavy national radio rotation-- like the first single, the Battlecat-produced and soon-to-be classic, "Cali Iz Active," producer Ryan Leslie's contribution "Heavyweights," and "Dogg Pound Gangstaz" produced by The Alchemist.

"I'm letting everybody know that the West Coast is definitely making a strong comeback," says Snoop Dogg. "Tha Dogg Pound sound is fresh and fly. It's a beautiful thing for me to be able to work with them, and when we drop this album it's gonna shake the whole game up! Chuuch."

news 1145638365 - January 1, 1970 By : The Dogg Pound just hit up Dubcnn to let us know that Snoop Dogg recently reached out to the Ambassador of the Yay, E-40, for a guest appearance. They laid down the vocals a couple of weeks back, and the song is scheduled to appear on Snoopy's next solo album "The Blue Carpet Treatment", due out later this year.

This project will surprise a lot of people, as it will have a total different vibe than his last album "R&G: The Masterpiece". And this feature with E-40 is another indication for a switch-up.

In related news, Kurupt has already started working on his next solo album which is still untitled. He's putting it out on the major market through Snoop's Doggystyle Records at the end of the year (Snoop also took over the executive producer role). So far they recorded 6 songs, the first 3 songs are produced by Fredwreck and the other 3 are produced by Mel-Man. Until then, watch out for Kurupt's upcoming underground project "Same Day, Different Shit", and of course the DPG album "Cali Iz Active" which is out in stores June 27th.

news 1152191800 - January 1, 1970 By : Los Angeles based singer LaLa has been making a lot of noise here on Dubcnn and in the music industry period. LaLa's name popped up a couple of times, most recently for her hook on the United State unity project "Dear Mr. President" which we featured on Dubcnn, but most notably for her current hit single "La La La".

While enjoying the success for "La La La", the latina already went back to the studio not too long ago to put a gangsta twist to the song. She hooked up with Mack 10 to record the official remix of "La La La" with the beat laid down by E. Miles. What came out is a perfect West Coast hit for the summer. The remix is already receiving spins on Los Angeles radio stations, and the feedback has been tremendous.

For her upcoming album, LaLa has secured a bunch of A-list producers and features, such as Fingazz, Fred Wreck and Nate Dogg. Stay tuned to Dubcnn for more info on LaLa and her pretty brown LA sound.

For now, Dubcnn has the "La La La" remix available for download.

news 1156787623 - January 1, 1970 By : Mawuli Kulego, aka Lazee Lizzel, came to the world in 1985 and was brought up in Malmö, Sweden, with his mom and two sisters. In 1998, "Mum Kulego" however decided that Malmö didn't provide the right environment for her son. She therefore sent Lazee to London where he could "become something". 6 years later Lazee moves back - with the ambition of finishing his first hip-hop album.

Lazee found hip-hop in the early 90's and wrote his first rhyme as a 10-year old. Back then, it was just for fun - the big turning point came when he heard "Players Anthem" with Notorious BIG. During his years in London, Lazee did several tracks for mixtapes. He also produced music with SkrillaKidz, whose name later on came to inspire the establishment of SkrillaMusic in Malmö.

Back in Sweden with SkrillaMusic, Lazee has been hard at work for the past 2 years and passionately spent most of his time in the recording studio, and now he’s finally ready to face Sweden, as well as the world, with his debut album “It is what it is”.

Dubcnn hooked up with Scandinavia’s tightest rapper to show the world how dope Lazee really is.

Check below for an exclusive album sampler from his upcoming album:

Lazee - Album Sampler

You can also watch his first music video “The Bigga Nigga” by clicking here. The video is produced by Jan Vasquez who is doing the latest Loon video! Be on the lookout for Lazee's debut album dropping late 2006 with featurings from a long line of brilliant producers such as Soul Supreme (KRS One, Big Daddy Kane, Petter), DJ Large (Promoe, MBMA), Collén & Webb (Jeru Da Damaja, Afu Ra), Nicolay (Little Brother), El Sheriffo, Ishi and T-Town.

“It is what it is” has also had the privilege of being hosted by great singers and rappers like Jovan Dais, Joel Ortiz, Link, Adam aka ADL, Wayne Beckford, Million Stylez and Pauline.

For more info on Lazee’s album stay tuned to Dubcnn!

news 1160422036 - January 1, 1970 By : Scion continues to support independent artistic expression through its latest Scion Audio/Visual (SA/V) 12" vinyl release of El Michels Affair and Raekwon and Scion CD Sampler v.15 - Award Tour mixed by Cosmo Baker and DJ Ayres.

"Scion Audio/Visual opens up a path that connects creative artists and avid listeners," said Jeri Yoshizu, Scion sales promotions manager. "We encourage artistic creativity and the A/V label is one of Scion's approaches to supporting the music community."

The latest 12" vinyl installment, available this month, sees Brooklyn's El Michels Affair paired up with hip-hop legend Raekwon (of Wu-Tang Clan) for a "live remix" of Raekwon's song with Pete Rock called "The PJs," as well as an original El Michels song and a couple interlude/bonus beats. Raekwon wrote some new lyrics for "The PJs" track, and El Michels flipped it with their signature vintage soul sound.

SA/V brings you Scion CD Sampler v.15 - Award Tour mixed by Cosmo Baker and DJ Ayres. Along with partner DJ Eleven, they comprise The Rub crew.

The Rub started as a monthly party in the summer of 2002 at Southpaw in Brooklyn, and it quickly grew into "the best party in NYC" (New York Press). Now in its fourth year, The Rub continues to live up to the accolades - packing in a diverse crowd who'll wild-out to hip-hop, '80s, disco, rock, funk, house, reggae and everything in between.

The Rub's Cosmo Baker played a crucial part of Philadelphia nightlife for years - holding down the now-legendary Back to Basics party with King Britt; spinning at house parties back in the day with The Roots; and launching the beloved Remedy monthly alongside Rich Medina. The Rub's DJ Ayres got his start spinning hip-hop on college radio and at parties, and has released upwards of 50 mixtapes in 10 years, prompting the New York Times to call him "one of New York's best mixtape DJs."

Included on Scion CD Sampler v.15 - Award Tour are songs by Ghostface & MF Doom, Memphis Bleek, The Streets, Aloe Blacc, Chromeo, Bloc Party, and UK Mercury Prize nominee Sway, among many others. Scion CD Sampler v.15 will be available at upcoming Scion events across the country.

SA/V continues to bring listeners, those with and without the skills to cut it up on the turntable, the heart and soul of music through its vinyl and CD releases.

Look out for future installments of the mix CDs and 12" vinyl from Scion DJ Contest winner DJ Cutler and from Connie Price & The Keystones w/ Big Daddy Kane, respectively.

About Scion Audio/Visual:
Scion Audio/Visual (SA/V) was founded to give true artists a voice in a noisy world. Scion has consistently championed independent thinking and alternative culture. With its Audio/Visual in-house record label, Scion continues to promote that culture with a series of CD mixtapes and 12" vinyl releases, both given out for free, which focus on getting exposure for these talented musicians and DJs. With global vision and diversity through expression, SA/V champions individuality with no genre boundaries.

Each 12" release features an up-and-coming live band with a special guest vocalist (an established MC or singer) doing a "cover" or "live version" of that vocalist's song. Past collaborations have included the daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra featuring Guru of Gangstarr; The Fyre Dept. with GZA; and Rhythm Roots Allstars featuring Raheem Devaughn, Aloe Blacc and Afrodisiac Sound System.

On the other side of the SA/V concept, the mix CDs span the gamut of hip-hop, funk, soul, reggae, world, and electronic music. Previous installments have featured mixes from Wax Poetics' DJ Monk One, Mr. Scruff & Nicolay, The Oakland Faders, Peanut Butter Wolf & Jazzy Jeff, and others.

news 1160739238 - January 1, 1970 By : Last month we introduced a new westcoast group called S.O.P.. As we reported the latest Hip Hop duo to combine to create new material are the MC E Dubb and producer Jynxx; who has featured on dubcnn in the past with his critically acclaimed project "Beats & Life" earlier this year [see Jynxx Showcases Talent On "Beats & Life"].

Since then the group have been working tirelessly on their debut album entitled "Music 4 Da Deaf & The Lyrically Challenged" which sees the two Inland Empire residents outline their perception on life and try to get a hold of what they feel Hip-Hop is lacking.

In September we released the albums single "Listen" which generated a great buzz amongst our listeners. As promised the group are almost done and have released to us the albums Maxi-Single/Album Sampler for everyone to get a taste of what to expect. The download includes the full single with Radio Edit and instrumental as well as some other tracks off the album. We also have "Listen" available for download again so those who missed it can hear the thought provoking lyrics, evocative sample and the melodic beat.

news 1171627243 - January 1, 1970 By : Two of the busiest men in music have recently taken time out of their hectic schedules to combine and form an organistation to help aspiring artists get heard, get constructive cristicism and ultimately - get deals!

Damizza, who is hard at work on the upcoming collaboration album "Back B4 Ur Lonely" with Butch Cassidy, and Bishop Lamont, Aftermath Records' signee and Dr. Dre protégé who is currently finalising two mixtapes and his debut album "The Reformation" - are asking you to "Let Me Hear It"

That's right, Damizza and Bishop Lamont want to hear your music and be able to give you the time and energy you deserve on getting your music heard, critiqued and all importantly get the feedback direct from them.

The concept behind this move, which can be seen at
Let Me Hear It Music, is the result of the pair being inundated with demos and requests that they can't always deal with; this new venture will ensure they can get through material that people really want them to hear and then take the time to listen and evaluate the music properly.

The pair will endevour to listen to all the material submitted, when they cannot then the studio teams, the Mad Scientists, will evaluate the music and then let the pair know what's hot and what's not! Bishop Lamont and Damizza have recorded a video on the new Let Me Hear It Music website to explain it all in detail however we think this quote sums it up; "Don't make it if you can't take it! news 1172829902 - January 1, 1970 By : Emerging to the mainstream in 2004 was Chicago born, Compton raised Guerilla Black. His album "Guerilla City" received a mixed response due to many listener's problem with him sounding like the late Notorious BIG however none could dispute the then Virgin Records signee's choice of production and guests on the album.

With credits that included Red Spyda, Mario Winans, Jazze Pha, Rodney Jenkins, Rick Rock and Fred Wreck and appearances from Nate Dogg, Mario Winans, Beenie Man and Brooke Valentine the album did ensure attention however in the two and a half years since its release Guerilla Black has remained relatively silent, save last years "400 Shotz The Funeral" track that, im similar style to The Games iconic "300 Bars," took aim towards an array people he had issues with.

Since then Guerilla Black has been hard at work on his latest album, said to be titled, "God Bless The Child" and with this in mind has recently released his first track from the project "Okay" which features Hot Dollar, an artist currently riding a wave of success with his hit single "2 Step." We have the new record below where he talks about the hatred he has received and announces his reemergence - those who love name dropping and gonna dig this track.

Guerilla Black -
Okay (Feat. Hot Dollar)

Enjoy the new music and stay tuned for the latest on Guerilla Black and his upcoming album right here on dubcnn - in fact we can also reveal he recently shot a video to another track from the album that you can expect to see and hear soon.

news 1177931762 - January 1, 1970 By : Although featured in countless updates as a feature or a name referenced by another artist, Jay Rock has not as yet been a mainstay on dubcnn. That changed last week when staff member Eddie Gurolla caught up with the man himself at the Rimac Arena in San Diego, CA.

Hailing from Watts, California, rap sensation Jay Rock is being groomed to dominate the West Coast rap scene. His powerful single "Lift Me Up" is currently in heavy rotation on Los Angeles’s number one radio station, Power 106.

After grinding hard to get his name out to the public and opening up for stars like (DJ) Quik, The Game and Slim Thug, Jay Rock is ready to step into the spotlight.

His debut album, "Follow Me Home," due out July 10th, is what Jay Rock describes as "a straight, real ghetto album." The CD, coming out on Warner Bros/Top Dawg Productions, features an all-star production lineup, with the likes of (DJ) Quik, Fred Wreck, Kay Gee from Naughty by Nature and JR Rotem contributing tracks. When asked about his time in the studio with (DJ) Quik, Jay Rock told us that "he’s definitely the most creative person I’ve worked with."

The unique opportunity to work with Kay Gee arose when Jay Rock’s associate Niam Ali reached out to the super producer on Jay Rock’s behalf. "We flew out to a studio in Jersey and made it happen," reflects Jay Rock. The album features guest appearances from E-40, Yung Joc and K-Dot as well as The Game, who also contributed production. Be on the lookout for more on Jay Rock on dubcnn soon!

For more information on Jay Rock and the debut album "Follow Me Home" in the meantime, head over to his official

news 1178215043 - January 1, 1970 By : Earlier this week we brought you details on Watts representer Jay Rock and his impending debut album "Follow Me Home." In that update [see; Watts' Jay Rock Readies "Follow Me Home" For July] we mentioned a feature from K-Dot. As with Jay Rock, I recently caught up with K-Dot live at the Rimac Arena in San Diego, CA.

Coming straight outta Compton, Top Dawg Productions signee K-Dot is working hard on his new album. He has a prospective deal from a major label, which is currently being held under wraps.

In the meantime, K-Dot is focusing on the record, making sure that it comes out exactly how he wants it. When asked about his still untitled debut album, K-Dot excitedly replied, "It’s gonna be a well rounded album, real artistic. I’m expressing myself over the tracks, [and I’m going to give the listeners] something that I feel is missing from the game."

He has already collaborated with big name producers such as Quik, JR Rotem, and Fred Wreck, whom he shared a special chemistry with in the studio. "We knocked out about three tracks, and they all came out blazin’. We’re probably gonna have to keep all three of them for the album." More of the production is coming from in-house producers Soundwave and 4th Quarter. K-Dot feels that "for a good album...you’ve got to have a concept, it has to have the lyrics, and you have to have the [production] tracks...and that’s what I’ve been putting together for the last couple months."

It is apparent that K-Dot has a strong work ethic. He told us that "The key to success is loyalty, dedication, consistency, and keeping your faith in God." Looking back on it, he feels, "That’s what got me to the point I’m at. I remember when I was back in middle school, it was just a dream to be in the office [of a major record label.]" He also went on to explain how he holds Compton native The Game in a high light. "The West Coast gotta appreciate The Game, because he opened a lot of doors for a lot of new West Coast cats. He’s really been an influence to me coming out of [my] city, showing that you can come out of the hood and do your thing...So shout outs to The Game."

K-Dot's new album will assuredly be a treat for all West Coast fans. He hopes for the record to be a unique experience for listeners as well. "I’m trying to bring the good music back, back to the city. And something different from the city too, [but] I ain’t gonna tell you just yet." For more on K-Dot, check his official MySpace page or TopDawgProductions.com - we will keep you updated on his debut due later this year. Be sure to buy his new mixtape, "Training Day," available now for purchase on his MySpace page.

news 1181207085 - January 1, 1970 By : San Diego has been the breeding ground of talented artists for some time now and today we have the pleasure of introducing someone who hopes to add to the ranks of MC's next to blow.

24 year old Clayton Scott commonly known as Skeez grew up in the Southeast side of San Diego, California and developed his love for Hip-Hop from an early age. From Break Dancing at the age of three to freestyling at twelve, Skeez became more and more involved in the artform, at the age of 15 he was participating in and winning various street battles - Skeez was even runner up at the Source Unsigned Hype And1 tour when it passed though San Diego.

"Many people I meet know me from battles at the Shamrock and on the beach. Taking money and hurting feelings," recalls Skeez. The notoriety he gained locally led him to a job with San Diego’s #1 Hip Hop radio station Z90, hosting parties and promotional events. In 2004 and 2005 Skeez performed at The House of Blues opening for Grammy winning Bone Thugs-N-Harmony as well as performances alongside Frankie J, Baby Bash, J-Kwon, Lil’ Jon, Pitbull and Ying Yang Twins. He was also a feature performer at Spring Break in Rosarito that same year.

With the birth of his son Hasani in 2005 and the sudden death of his mother in 2006, life’s hardships and added responsibilities refueled his desire to bring his passion, creativity and prowess to the masses. Having linked back up with childhood friend Tytanik, as well as Mike Wheelz, G.O.S., Mac Shawn and Chris Barclay they formed the collective The Enterprise which has been making noise around San Diego.

Moving into 2007 saw the buzz continue with the release of his mixtape and album sampler entitled "The Awakening" [download at DatPiff] which is set to lead up to the release of his planned debut album "Follow Me" due in the Summer. Skeez is currently on a mini promotional tour through San Diego called the No Passport Needed Tour as well as shows where he is opening for Keak Da Sneak and Too Short.

Below we have three tracks to sample from Skeez that are set to be on his debut album "Follow Me" due later in the Summer. One is the Czar Beatz produced "Do That," the albums lead single, and the hard hitting "My System" produced by Tommy Redding. The third track is "Muthaf-cka" or "Mutha Mutha" (Radio Version) that is produced by DJ Happee (Z90.3/Bumsquad DJ's).

Skeez - Do That (Produced By Czar Beats)
Skeez - My System (Produced By Tommy Redding)
Skeez - Muthaf-cka (Produced By DJ Happee)

In related news Skeez is currently in talks with Black Shield Entertainment of Atlanta regarding his management and is already in the process of working with the renowned Slip N Slide Records to be their "On the Grind" artist which will include a mixtape feature and radio play. We also just got word that DJ EFN will be hosting his next mixtape titled "619 To Da 305: The Initiation."

Stay tuned to dubcnn for the latest news and audio from Skeez, until then make sure you check him out at his official MySpace page.

news 1183656493 - January 1, 1970 By : Over the last couple of years, the Bay Area has been known for doing new things musically. They've even spawned a new sub genre in the process. With Hyphy being the new sound of the bay, it seems that most artists in the area are buying in and doing their part to contribute; bringing more attention to the region.

With eyes and ears on the Bay Area, Fredrock and The Trench Town Husltaz are bringing something else new and fresh to the Bay Area, West Bay to be exact.

They've conceived an idea to bring in something old and make it new and fresh again. They've recorded an entire album with a reggae twist. This isn't the type of music you'd expect to come out of the region, but they pulled it off. They've managed to keep the same vibe that the music intended, while rapping and singing over the instrumentals. Reggae Meets the West Bay will be dropping in August. Below we have 2 songs to check out from the album.

news 1186780942 - January 1, 1970 By : Producer 9th Wonder is gearing up to release his solo debut, "Dream Merchant Vol. 2" on October 9th.

When asked about the album, 9th Wonder had this to say about it: "this record means alot to me! The crazy thing is, the actualization of Dream Merchant is an idea that is six years old. My Uncle Fred has crazy records; he was an avid collector from his days in NYC back in the 70’s. Back in 1987, I went to visit him and my Aunt, they lived in the South Bronx (East 169th and Grand Concourse) and it was my first trip to NYC.

I was only there for a week when the newspapers flashed “Scott La Rock killed” (crazy right). In 1991, my Uncle and Aunt moved to Winston Salem (North Carolina) and I was working in a UPS call-center in High Point (North Carolina) and made a crazy decision to quit my job and pursue music full-time. I went to visit my Uncle Fred afterwards, because I remembered all of those records he had when I was a kid. I went downstairs and the first record I pulled out of the crate was Jerry Butler’s “Dream Merchant.” I though the title was so fly, that I decided to do a compilation album with me doing all the beats and cats I knew that rhymed. I think more then anything; fate sparked my decision to do this all the way - just from that cover and that moment."

The album features guest appearances from Mos Def, Memphis Bleek, Little Brother, and Royce Da 5'9, among many others. We've got a preview track from the album as well. The carefree song is called "Sunday," and it features Keisha Shontelle & Chaundon. Download it below.

news 1219430238 - January 1, 1970 By : Back in January 2008 we caught up with B-Real for an exclusive interview where we discussed his long awaited solo album "Smoke & Mirrors." In that interview he told us how he hoped to have it out in May and described it as "...it's definitely different from Cypress Hill. Different content a little bit, different sounds and all that stuff. With Cypress Hill it's a certain formula, but with my stuff I had to be different, cause if I'm doing the same stuff, then I'm really not doing a different album, it would just be an extension of Cypress, and I don't want it to be an extension of Cypress. I want it to be able to stand on its own, that way when the Cypress shit comes, that stands on its own too."

Since then news on "Smoke & Mirrors" has been scarce however today we have news that B-Real has found a home to release the project on next year. January 27th, 2009 will see the long awaited release of "Smoke & Mirrors" via Duck Down Records

As B-Real indicated exclusively to us in early 2008 the project is set to feature Snoop Dogg, Damian Marley, Buckshot, Sean Price and Sen Dog of Cypress Hill. Production on the release is set to include tracks from DJ Quik, Fredwreck, Scoop Deville and B-Real himself for Audio Hustlerz Inc.

B-Real is the latest addition to Duck Down Records, who just recently announced a group project with KRS-ONE & Buckshot, that will be in stores in 2009, along with upcoming projects from DJ Revolution entitled "King Of The Decks" (September 16th) and a re-united Heltah Skeltah, comprised of Rock and Sean Price, aka Ruck, who, after ten years, are releasing their third album, "D.I.R.T." (Da Incredible Rap Team) on September 30th.

Dru Ha, co-owner of Duck Down Records told Dubcnn; "Adding another living legend in B-Real to our roster is really giving Duck Down a "dream team" line up for independent Hip Hop. Buckshot and I have been strategic with our label partnerships mixing the right blend of emerging artists with proven veterans. When you add the upcoming Random Axe Project (Sean Price, Guilty Simpson and Black Milk collaboration set for a 2009 release) we're excited about our ability to continue contributing quality Hip Hop albums to the game."

B-Real is currently on the Dubcnn Sponsored Rock The Bells Festival Tour with Nas, Tribe Called Quest, Method Man, Ghostface, Immortal Technique, Kidz In The Hall and more. Stay tuned to Dubcnn for more on the "Smoke & Mirrors" project.

news 1225826145 - January 1, 1970 By : It's been a couple of years in the making with delays and pushbacks all along the way but right now there appears to be a date within reach that will stick for the long awaited release from Erick Sermon and Parish Smith - better known by their collective title of EPMD.

The duo are releasing the new album "We Mean Business" on their own imprint EP Records and having got back together after their initial split in 1993 the duo said in an interview earlier this year; "We’re not out here to conform to radio or worry about who’s digging it. The core fans are going to speak up and they’re liking it and that’s all who we care about.

We're gonna let the music do the talking on this one as we have just received the "We Mean Business" album sampler and we have it here for download or to listen to via our streaming flash audio players.

news 1227514552 - January 1, 1970 By : It's hard to believe two years have already passed since Bay Area Hip-Hop veterans Zion I [DJ AmpLive & MC Zion] released the acclaimed collaboration album with The Grouch of Living Legends "Heroes In The City Of Dope" - for fans it sounds as fresh and as the day it dropped - for those that never picked it up we want to awaken you once again to Zion I.

Firstly lets re-cap with two tracks from "Heroes In The City Of Dope." The duo and The Grouch linked up with Mistah F.A.B. for Hit 'Em produced by AmpLive and we also have Trains & Planes also produced by AmpLive.

Now that fans and the curious alike are switched on lets move onwards with the new material from Zion I we have today. Zion I are currently heating up to release their latest album "The TakeOver" due for release on January 27th 2009 via Gold Dust / Live Up - regular visitors will have already heard two new tracks on the Gold Dust Media Sampler (Mixed By Large Pro) that we dropped back in August.

One of the tracks on that Sampler has been made the lead single from "The TakeOver" and a video has just been completed. "Juicy Juice" is the track and once again is produced by AmpLive. The video is a spontaneous and fun take on being at the top of one's game. See for yourself why the Oakland duo won't stop ballin' 'till there's plaques on the wall.

Zion I - Juicy Juice (Video)

As if that wasn't enough to whet your appetite for the release of "The TakeOver" Zion I have been leaking innovative tracks including remixes, verses and interpretations of/by the likes of Santogold, Public Enemy, Talib Kweli & more. The time has now come for those leaks to form a free mixtape entitled "The Search And The Seizure". This free project is built for heavy walkman rotation in the classic sense, the A-side features Zion I putting their spin on hip-hop classics, with the B-side stepping into indie rock and electro territory. Boom-bap addicts and fans of Amp's recent remixes for Radiohead, Jamie Lidell, Tapes N Tapes and more should have plenty to sink their teeth into.

We have "The Search And The Seizure" for Free Download as in mixtape format and also both Side A and Side B available to listen to or download individually via our Streaming Audio pages. The full tracklist and Old-School cassette covers are available on the Mixtape Download Page too.

Zion I - The Search & The Seizure (Free Download)
