news 1180960779 - January 1, 1970 By : When your the youngest protégés of the original Penthouse Players Clique your certain to get noticed and its important to come out swinging. Thats exactly what the group who we are ready to premiere to the world today are doing; and they are not here to disappoint.

The Young Giantz consist of Deuce Mac and Bigg Joe West aged 22 and 20 respectively both of whom are the sons of West Coast legend Playa Hamm. The duo have been writing and recording together for some time now and are finally ready to step into the public eye and have their music heard with the backing of their father Playa Hamm.

When asked about the name Young Giantz they referred us to Webster's Collegiate Dictionary which definites a "Giant" as "a legendary being of great stature and strength, of more than mere mortal powers..." - a definition they want to impress upon you with their new single.

Being the first release from the P Suite, a company built of long standing industry veterans and experience, the Young Giantz have a wealth of expertease at their disposal. Currently working on their debut EP which is set to feature production from up-and-coming beats masters including Qluso, Boogaloo and Bokie Loc as well as established producers DJ Battlecat, Blaqthoven and I-Roc.

With the researgence of the West Coast their primary aim, they have set their stall out on the EP's lead single with intent. "Weeest!" features hard hitting, bass heavy, crisp production from Battlecat affiliate Qluso - with equally vicious lyrics and killer flows from this undeniably talented duo. "Weeest" also features Playa Hamm on the chorus and is a track that deserves attention and spins; with that in mind we have it for exclusive download below.

Young Giantz - Weeest! (Feat. Playa Hamm)

We are asking that all Radio/Mixtape DJ's download this and utilise it where possible and that fans let everyone know about the Young Giantz and direct them to Dubcnn for the exclusive audio and news. We will be keeping you updated on their debut EP over the coming months leading up to its release.

news 1207506478 - January 1, 1970 By : We first introduced the duo known as Young Giantz back in June 2007 when we premiered their first single Weeest! which featured their father the legendary Playa Hamm. The youngest protégés of the original Penthouse Players Clique, Deuce Mac and Bigg Joe West, are the brothers that make up the Young Giantz.

Last year, with the release of their debut single Weeest!, the group were working on their debut EP which ended up being pushed back and has now become a mixtape that is due over the coming months.

"G-Qcality" will feature production from names including Qluso, N/A, Boogaloo, Bokie as well as DJ Battlecat, Amplified and Blaqthoven.

Today we have a track for download that is set to feature on "G-Qcality" that is produced by N/A entitled "Big Big Bizness."

When asked about their music Bigg Joe West told Dubcnn; "We [are] basicallu just continuously making good music daily. Being the sons of Playa Hamm we makin' sure we come right considering he never got the credit he deserves. We [are] just carrying the torch ya know. Me, Bigg Joe West and my brother Duece Mac [are] just here to make good music and take the world on beautiful ride."

news 1209324730 - January 1, 1970 By : It's been some time since we heard new music from Penthouse Playas Clique member and long time DJ Quik collaborator Playa Hamm. However, thanks to Dubcnn's relationship with his sons, Young Giantz, who have been featured on Dubcnn over the past year [see updates] - we have a track that has, until recently, lain unreleased and unheard.

The track in question is the DJ Quik produced anthemic "L.A." which according to Playa Hamm was "Recorded a while back when Quik and I were still trying to put things together. We were in the process of making plans for a remergence.

"L.A." is a very mellow production with Playa Hamms trademark flow making this an ideal chill out summer song and a great time for us to be allowed to release this for download to the public courtesy of the man himself.

Playa Hamm - L.A. (Produced By DJ Quik)

When we asked him about any plans for an album release or any project with this or other unreleased tracks Playa Hamm told us; "As far as the prescence and the future is concerned, it's all about the Young Giantz and playing the position to the fullest extent of my ability. I greatly appreciate the love and support of Dubcnn, and it is definite that we reciprocate that!"

Our thanks go back out to Playa Hamm and the Young Giantz. Check out the track and leave your feedback on our very own forums.

news 1216917219 - January 1, 1970 By : One half of the Young Giantz is back on Dubcnn today with an exclusive freestyle for our readers. Bigg Joe West, the son of Playa Hamm and brother of Duece Mac who make up Young Giantz, had some issues to get off his chest and has delivered it in the form of a freestyle track entitled "Weeest" - the same title as the track we dropped from them back in 2007, listen again here.

Bigg Joe West, pictured, had this to say about his current situation when he dropped off the track; "We are currently in the streets selling our music everyday you know just paying our dues. You know we been doing this seriously for the last eight years so were just creating our buzz. There's no reason why people should not know about the the beautiful music we out here making you feel me?

He also took some time to state what led to this freestyle; "I also been checking out the Dubcnn Forum peepin what the fans like and dislike which is what inspired me to submit this freestyle. No disrespect to anyone making music but I feel like alot of non thought-provoking bullsh-t is being praised, which makes us continuosly give to the world from the heart. Take it personal if one must. Love, peace and blessings to Dubcnn. Weeeest!

See what Bigg Joe West had to say by checking out the track below and drop your feedback on his thoughts on the same forum that caused him to create it; the Dubcnn Forum.

Bigg Joe West - Weeest! Freestyle

Stay tuned to Dubcnn for the latest news and media from Young Giantz including the latest on "G-Qcality"" - their debut mixtape that will feature production from names including Qluso, N/A, Boogaloo, Bokie as well as DJ Battlecat, Amplified and Blaqthoven.

news 1085557204 - January 1, 1970 By : Aight, overall, the show was hot. Visionaries got a little slept on, but there was no opening acts, the crowd wasn't in the mood just yet. Lot's of people were smoking, but security were trying to confiscate weed and kick out people. Nonetheless, people still smoked. Visionaries did stuff off of Pangaea, Sophmore Jinx and Galleries, as well as a few solo's by 2Mex. The highlight of their show was when DJ Rhettmatic had his time to shine. He showed the crowd the skills he and his Beat Junkies crew are known for on the turntables. He then hopped on the beat machine and tore it up there, too. They had a good set. Look out for Pangaea, it's still in stores. 2Mex's album is still in stores. LMNO just released a solo album as well. Peep those out.

Next up was Cypress Hill. B-Real walked out and started doing "Another Body Drops," then Sen Dog came out and did his verse. Already the crowd was hype. They went through a lot of their jams, from "Latin Thugs," "Busted In The Hood," "How I Could Just Kill A Man," "Hand On The Pump," "Cock The Hammer," "Lick A Shot," "Hits From The Bong," "Dr. Green Thumb," "What's Your Number," "Insane In The Brain" and more. But, there ALWAYS has to be some idiots that have to fuck up a good show. A little scuffle broke out right behind me, I was very close to the front, and somehow Pepper spray was sprayed into the air. The mist hit me in the face, as well as any and everyone in the vicinity. A lot of people cleared out, including me. I inhaled some of that shit and my eyes were killing me. I missed the rest of the show, which went on for about 30 minutes after. I'm unsure if they closed to show down or if Cypress just finished their set. Either way, up until that little disaster, the show was hot.

To anyone who goes to a Cypress Hill show or any Hip Hop show that may have moshing, DO NOT take it personal. If you do, then don't join in. People who take that shit to the heart is why things like that happen.

news 1087993458 - January 1, 1970 By : Ya'll know about Lil Flips new album "Can U Feel Me" which has been out for a little while with the huge single "Game Over".
He is now set to release the follow up single, called "Sunshine"! Sandy Lal, Flip's manager and attorney of Kingpin Entertainment Group, had the following to say about the single: ""This track is a collaboration with Lil' Flip and our newest artist Lea, just signed to Kingpin. It's produced by The Synphony. Lea's sweet voice combined with Flip's playalistically catchy rhymes really takes this song over the top. The single speaks for itself; it's already at over 3000 radio spins and will be going to Top 40 this week. I asked Flip to collaborate with Lea and he just jumped right on it. That was no surprise; she is as talented as she is beautiful. As for Flip, he gets up close and personal on "Sunshine", he's still a player but not on the courts on this track."

And Flip himself had a few words about the song too, ""Sunshine is a little different from what people have heard from me. I wanted a smooth track for the ladies this time. My manager Sandy originally
did the song for Lea but then decided to put me on it. When I heard the track, I got right on it and wrote it in fifteen minutes! I wanted to lay down the rules for dating a rapper like myself. Since I'm always on the road, she has to be patient. I'll definitely be in touch once I get into town but I can't stick around for too long. I can't be a steady boyfriend because of my schedule, but when I have the time, I will definitely give it to my babygirl. I touch on these things in the song. I think everyone will appreciate "Sunshine", both the males and females.

news 1104883334 - January 1, 1970 By : Damn that was quick huh... Told ya'll I'll be back with more news about the upcoming Suga Free album "Just Add Water" which they have just started working on. My homie grafikpimp was present at one of their studio sessions at Kenny McCloud's studios the other day and got some info and pictures for our visitors right here at the Dub.

Also look for the first single to be premiered here around the end of the 1st quarter of 2005. The guest appearances for the album aren't confirmed yet, but look for some hot names... What I've heard has been very promising. We're also going to be conducting a video interview with the Neighbourhood Playa Patna himself, so lookout for that coming soon.

Suga Free was in the lab with his crew, including producer Freeze who had produced the unreleased song "Cool" which was buzzing all over, which didn't make Free's last album due to sample clearance. Also present were Kenny McCloud, Mike (Free's Cousin), Clue Dawg, J-Steez and more.

From what we heard, the song they layed down last night, produced by Freeze, and with Clue Dog on the hook, is sounding real promising, hopefully Free will deliver another banger with "Just Add Water"!

Check out some pictures below, and lookout for our video interview, which will clear up alot of rumours, including the situation with DJ Quik.

Pictures:

Suga Free & The Crew (from left to right): Kenny McCloud, one of the homies, Mike (Frees Cousin), Suga Free, Clue Dawg, J-Steez, Freeze

news 1112891448 - January 1, 1970 By : Some of the greatest MCs that ever touched a mic have past away while others have retired, but the streets is talking and everyone wants to know who has what it takes to elevate the rap game to another level.
In Hip Hop, it is about survival of the fittest and Al Gator a.k.a. “Da Free Agent” is definitely ready to put the rap game on his back.

The question is are we ready for him?

23 year-old Georgia native, Alden “Al Gator” Portress grew up in the streets of College Park where initially he started working in music production. Shortly thereafter Gator formed a rap group, with the Hip Hop artists now known as Ludacris and DTP, called “Playaz Circle” this enabled him to sharpen his writing skills as well as his lyrical prowess.

In less than two years of writing and battling, Gator has received a tremendous amount of critical acclaim being compared to rap elites such as Nas & Jay-Z in their earlier careers. As the Source Magazine’s unsigned talent to watch in 2005, Gator is making everyone aware that southern hip-hop is going to take on a totally different meaning once he’s officially in the game.

After listening to his infectious flow, heavy hitting producers in the game such as The Alchemist, Focus (Aftermath Ent.), Dent, Midi Mafia, Mr. DJ from Organized Noise, and Rick Rock have proven that Gator has what it takes to lace even their flyest beats. “Man, this dude is hot,” says Focus (Aftermath Ent.).
Aside from working with the some of the best producers in the game, Gator has created a buzz on the underground scene by independently moving over 3000 units of his first mixtape entitled “Da Free Agent Vol. 1.”

Gator has been approached by A&R executives from Island Def Jam, Star Trak Entertainment, Soso Def Recordings, TVT Records, Blackbaby Ent. and Roc-A-Fella Records.

Dubcnn Brings you two hot tracks from this young cat both produced by Aftermath producer Focus(who did Where Im From on Game's album):

Al Gator
"Nothin 2 Lose" Produced By Focus (Aftermath)
Al Gator "Mouf Of The South" Produced By Focus (Aftermath)

Lookout for an indepth interview with Al Gator later this week.

You may have heard him on Crooked I's Young Boss Mixtape. Today we bring you 3 tracks from One-2 that you may or may not have heard.

One-2 is a problem on the mic. He spits with the hunger of 1996 Chino XL, but with a very appealing style. Listen to him hold his own with one of the illest emcees in Hip Hop Crooked I by clicking below:

One-2 & Crooked I - The Muthafuckin' W.

"You ain't never seen a blast from a hammer/Just a flash from a camera/They be snappin' and takin' a bunch of photos/See that Panther on that logo?/It means that you Wolfs can never fuck with One-2 or Bullet Loco!"

Dig that quote? Then you'll wanna peep One-2 and Jayo Felony both murder this track entitled "So Treacherous" below:

Last but not least, we have this solo track called "Posted Up", another heater:

news 1120424635 - January 1, 1970 By : Beats By The Bay is a Documentary film by Filmmaker Bobby Mardis, about the Bay Area Rap scene. The Bay is a very important, but often forgotten, factor in Hip Hop today. As you already know, and you'll see in this film, many of today's Rap trends started in, but are rarely credited to, The Bay. From Independent to Major, The Bay has it all. In Beats By The Bay, you can see live performances and/or Interviews from E-40, Mac Dre(R.I.P.), Paris, San Quinn, Suga T, Tajai of Hieroglyphics/Souls Of Mischief, Skip of UTP, Conscious Daughters, MC Hammer, Too Short, Outlawz, Mac Mall, B-Legit, Mr. Kee, Dutch, Lil Ric, Laroo, Luni Coleone, Marvaless, Mistah F.A.B., The Mosse, Nuttso, Whoridas and many more.

The story is told by up and coming Bay rapper Kontac, whom we had a chance to speak with briefly about the project. Here's what he had to say:

"Beats By The Bay is a series of Dvds: Volume 1, 'Something To Say' is the first in the series, which drops July 5th in The Bay, July 9th Nationwide. 'Something To Say' deals with what Bay Area artists go through when doing their music. How they do it, this volume is more of the Social film."

He continues:

"Volume 2, 'The Independent Game' is a step above 'Somthing To Say,' to where you see the artist show you how some of them work on their CDs Art Work, Production, Mastering, Distrobution, get point of views from retial outlets and Mom and Pop chains. Get info straight from the artist's mouth."

"The other 2 volumes are the Indusrty Music guide. 1 and 2 talks to ASCAP and BMI people, who talk about publishing and lawyers. You will see Russell Simmons and his wife (Kimora Lee Simmons) talk about the music game. If you watch these last 2 films, it's like going to The Gavin or The How Can I Be Down summitts in one CD. A new artist can watch these and do basically everything needed for putting out an album."

I asked Kontac about how he and the DVD's will help The Bay, to which he responded:

"I will help The Bay get world wide reconition where the world can see where the terms 'Pop ya Collar,' 'Oh Boy,' and 'Player Haters' came from. The world can see where the Independent Game came from."

As for what Kontac is up to musically:

"Next up, I got my artist Erase E who was on the first Westcoast Bad Boy's album. His album 'Smoove But Aggresive' drops the end of July and features Twista, Frontline, Silkee, Kontac and a host of others. The Kontac album drops the end of August and features San Quinn, Ya Boy, Erase E, Sean T, Balance, 2 Live Crew, Dap, Mac n AK, and others. The Beats By The Bay Soundtrack is fire, features San Quinn, Hoodstars, JT The Bigga Figga, Cellski, A-Wax, Frontline, Balance, Mistah F.A.B., Erase E, Sean T, Mac n AK, Mr. Kee, and others. First single 'Bay Ridin' features San Quinn, Kontac and J.Slimm is getting radio play now. The video is being shot middle of August and features Super Model Rita-G."

Finally, I asked Kon where he sees The Bay in 5 years:

"5 years from now The Bay will be where it was from 1992-1995. We can not fumble the ball when we get it! Hit up
BeatsByTheBay.com for more info. Thank you DubCNN for ya support."

news 1126238581 - January 1, 1970 By : Ya'll know how the The Queen of the West, Diamonique, does it. Whether it's rapping or singing, Diamo holds it down, everytime. Coming out of the bubbling Inland Empire (I.E.) area, she's worked with Xzibit, DJ Quik, Sly Boogy, Dirty Birdy, Kurupt and many others.

Her debut album "Diamond In The Ruff" created a nice buzz, she kept it going with the release of her Mixtape, "Still Shinin'," in the Spring. She's preparing for the release of her Sophmore effort, "Queen Of The West."

On this single, Diamo blends her singing and rapping abilities over melodic strings provided by the E's hottest Producer, Fingazz. She raps:

"I Used To Be A Playa, I Used To Crush A Lot, Now I'm Cryin' Over You, Somethin' I Never Thought"

Anyone who's been in a relationship will be able to relate to this track. Look for it to hit the airwaves very soon. But, for you DJ's out there, we're putting up the clean version of this track. So, download it and bang it on the station!!

Here's the track:

Diamonqie - Taboo Remix (Prod. Fingazz)

news 1130349485 - January 1, 1970 By : Does that bother you? Well it should; as Bad Lucc in this case takes the form of Terence Harden, an artist who has evolved from the streets of Los Angeles and adopted the pseudonym Bad Lucc. Earlier this month some of you will have noticed the name Bad Lucc on the release we covered by NV, "Go Hard Or Go Home." Since then Watts MC Bad Lucc has been in touch to provide us with audio from his latest projects, which include his forthcoming solo album and the follow up to the group release The Westurn Union "Jackin 4 DJ's" which consisted of himself and Damani. That mixtape along with the new tracks are available for download below courtest of Bad Lucc. Firstly a little background on Bad Lucc;

It was the influence of his older sister that drew him towards hip-hop: "My sister wrote my first rap when I was 10 years old. I performed it at a get-together in front of family and friends and their reaction was like no other. I owe her my life" he reveals

From there Bad Lucc worked tirelessly to hone his writing skills and went on to write his first rap in 1995 after becoming intrigued by a couple of his closest friends as they performed in a battle at the high school lunch tables. "They were just so dope I had to get down", he proclaims. From there he took the route of battling competitors which gained him the attention and respect from various urban-driven record labels and famed artists such as Jadakiss and Swiss Beats. Bad Lucc has a signature style while maintaining the ability to transcend both audience and region. Bad Lucc states quite simply: "The streets made me. Now they have to listen. From the block to the boardroom."

news 1136556977 - January 1, 1970 By : Pomona City Ryder Pimpin Young is already setting off 2006 with a bang! With his current projects "Pimpin Nation II" and "Daddy’s Side of the Closet" listed in the June ‘05 - December ’05 issues of AVN’s monthly magazine; as the top 25 DVD’s of the year, Must See and Most Watched! Pimpin Young has gained instant attention and recognition from the industries top critics.

With the announcement of this year’s AVN Award Nominees in November ’05, Pimpin Young is in the running to receive two of the industries top honors in the following categories:

- Best Ethnic Release for Pimpin Nation II, with cameo appearances by Goldie Loc, Slim the Mobster, Suga Free, Sugar Boogar, AJ Johnson and The Bishop Don Juan.

- Best Soundtrack for Daddy’s Side of the Closet featuring Silk, Chocolate, Kokane and Baby S, just to name a few.

Although this is Pimpin Young’s first AVN Nomination he is no new comer to the game. Pimpin Young is no stranger to The Annual Playa’s Ball having won over five trophies since 2003. The Annual Playa’s Ball is not a fad or gimmick. It’s a prestigious honor just to be invited; only the real godfathers and pioneers true to their Pimpin attend the Playa’s Ball. Nominees are based on GAME recognizing GAME! Pimpin Young quotes the meaning of the word PIMP as “Power in Moving People in Entertainment. He has been powerful enough to move through Pimpin his hoes, the adult film industry and through hip-hop (teachings). Pimpin Young is also getting ready to release his first solo debut “Daddy’s Side of the Closet” Pimpin is more than an artist, he’s an entrepreneur juggling money, clothes and hoes all he’s only ever known!

Pimpin is best known for his eight contributions to the first TRUE CRIMES video game and soundtrack. Over the last decade Pimpin Young has worked with almost every West Coast artist’s such as:
Pomona City Rydaz, Goldie Loc, Suga Free, Suga Booga, Slim Tha Mobster, Snoop Dog, Nate Dogg, Jellyroll, Troop, Battlecat, Kokane; are there any other West Coast artists left? His credits in music aren’t as important as being respected and awarded for doing what he does best... Pimpin!

Being a seasoned vet in the industry, one would think that Pimpin Young is used to all the hype. However, when asked how he feels about being nominated for an AVN award this year (also known as the Grammy’s of the adult industry) Pimpin quotes: "It’s not magic, it’s just amazing!" West Coast fans stay tuned Pimpin Young is just getting started!

news 1142422161 - January 1, 1970 By : "I spit for South Central and speak for the ghetto. From my hood to your hood we all go through similar things and im hear to report what's real for the real." Words from the voice of South Central Los Angeles; Cash Dniro.

Why that name? Well it combines the birthname of Mohammed Ali (Cassius) & the surname of the actor Robert De Niro in shortened format; the reasoning, Cash Dniro is a combination of both Power and Skill. Raised in the 80's in South Central he was growing up in the crack era of Los Angeles. In the late 80's he related to life through music and opted that in later life it would be an avenue he could vent his thoughts through.

We have been brought to the attention of Cash Dniro and have been impressed by his flow and his style, when you hear the tracks below the lyrics and the tone of his voice will stick with you. He is currently working on new material this year however he already as a full album available for free download on his
Soundclick page. Also look for Cash Dniro to make apperances with the other memebers of the LA Zuu later this year. For now we have two tracks available for download, both produced by Vyente who has laced beats for Ras Kass, Black Rob & Nivea. Both tracks are from Cash Dniro's street album; "True Lies (My Reality)" available on his imprint A.M.P Ent (About My Paper/About My People) - look for more news and audio on dubcnn over the coming months from Cash Dniro. news 1142441064 - January 1, 1970 By : Underground Stand-Up; the duo who are devoted to jazzy samples, danceable beats, intricate rhyme skills and laid-back humor are back, westcoast please open the door once again to the People Under the Stairs.

The group who formed when Mike Turner (Double K) and Chris Portugal (Thes One) met on the fringe of L.A.'s late-'90s hip-hop underground. They came together to release their 1998 acclaimed debut album "The Next Step" and followed it up in 2000 with "Question in the Form of an Answer."

With the acclaim and underground success they toured with De La Soul and took their road experiences and brought it to the studio to record their next album. The final results became apparent in the summer of 2002 under the album name O.S.T. This release received acclaim worldwide and as such has sold over 35,000 copies to date bringing People Under the Stairs to the forefront of the underground and its follow-up album, "Or Stay Tuned..." complemented this release and allowed the group to headline nation-wide tours.

Known for serving up playful back-and-forth rhymes set to vinyl-centric production, Thes One and Double K are now back with Stepfather and had this to say about the release: "People are really going to be surprised by this album, we’re flipping the script on this one, coming with an extremely progressive approach. We study a lot of music theory and classic material, and this album reflects that. Even when we did the old school tracks on the album, we still tried to push the envelope with vocal settings and drum patterns," explained Thes One.

Using obscure vintage drum machines and running mic pre-amps to the point of intentional distortion, PUTS created a sonic kaleidoscope of textured and layered beats which are complimented by their refreshingly cool narratives of the L.A. Hip Hop life. A better description of Stepfather might be that of a Hip Hop history book on tape. From the old school beats with those classic SP 1200 drums and rich Hammond organ keys to new school progressive tracks with live guitar and bass, "Stepfather" is by far PUTS’s most intricate and musically advanced album.

It can be seen on the album that the group are offering a much more personal perspective into the lives of Thes One and Double K. On the track “Days Like This,” Double K reflects on his modest upbringing and the struggles that his mother endured in order to provide for the family, while Thes One offers a personal thanks to his father who labored has a fruit field worker so that his son may live a better life. On “Reflections,” Double K and Thes One lament in vivid detail their recognition of the moral vacuum that plagues today’s society. From these heavy hearted songs to the light and head nodding barbecue anthems such as “Jamboree pt. 1”, Thes One and Double K explore the spectrum of human emotions and offer their most personal music to date.

With an amazing live show and a loyal fan base hungry for their next album, People Under The Stairs"Stepfather" will undoubtedly be one of Hip Hop’s biggest releases of 2006! "Stepfather" features guest appearances from legendary Funkadelic and Parliament member George Clinton, Monty Stark (Stark Reality), and Kat of Crown City Rockers. The album will also included a bonus documentary-style DVD that includes show footage and a short film.

As ever dubcnn has been given some new audio from the release to share with you and we urge you to take a listen, both fans and new listeners alike, People Under The Stairs are unique and have an ear for production and a melodic flow that I guarentee will get you hooked! Enjoy the audio and let us know your thoughts via the dubcnn community.

news 1145227578 - January 1, 1970 By : I decided to end this years Easter holiday with a huge audio update from upcoming albums that we think you guys should definitely give a listen to.

We start with the album from Messy Marv & San Quinn called Explosive Mode 2. It is a very solid album with zero featurings, which is refreshing.
How I Came Up is my favourite song from the album but pretty much all of the songs are certified bangers.

Now let’s move on to one of the realest groups from the west called The Coup; who have an album coming out April 25th on Epitaph entitled "Pick A Bigger Weapon"; the release has some of the freshest audioscapes The Coup have ever produced. Backed by Tom Morello, Dwayne Wiggins, veterans of Parliament-Funkadelic, The Gap Band, Toni Tony Tone, Jesse Johnson, and Frankie Beverly and Maze.

Listen to the song called My Favourite Mutiny featuring Black Thought & Talib Kweli.

Next up we bring a banger from Ant D.O.G. entitled "Playaz Party" featuring Yukmouth, Shock G, Ray Luv, Mac Mall, JT.
His brand new album is called "Dogshit" and apart from the above mentioned artists, he also has T Kash, Skrilla & Roc on the album, which is in stores now.

This weekends’ r&b song is from Avant's upcoming album "Director". The album drops April 25th on Geffen. The song we have for you features JD and is called "GPSA". Make sure you checkout our interview with Avant for more info on this smooth r&b album by clicking here.

This week we decided to showcase the soundtrack to Touchstone Pictures' new comedy "Stick It"; the movie starts playing in cinemas April 21st and the OST is in stores right now. We have the song called Crowded by Jeannie Ortega and Papoose. Missy Elliot and Talib Kweli are some of the other artists who are on the soundtrack.

RBX is working on his upcoming album, but for now you can check him out on the Da Danker's debut album "Vallejo's Top Exec".
Da Danker's album is out in stores and features San Quinn, Keak Da Sneakand few other bay rappers. Checkout the song titled "End Of Days" ft RBX and Jt The Bigga Figga.
RBX is about to do some stuff with Dresta the Gangsta but more news on that later.

Last but not least I got a slumper from DJ Fresh Presents...The Tonite Show with Smigg Dirtee. The song I'm talking about is "A Gust Of Wind" featuring Ya Boy & Tower..

As ever we feature "Weekend Audio" to remind you of what new material is out and urge you all to go out and buy the albums and mixtapes if you are feeling any of the tracks!

That's right, Colton City's Infamous/G-Unit artist 40 Glocc has been creating a buzz with his latest street single "Where Them Hammers At", produced by none other than Rick Rock and featuring Def Jam recording artist Sam Scarfo.

We brought ya'll the track last week but it was slept on, and I just got the dirty and radio edits for all you DJ's out there, so I thought I'd give ya'll another heads up on the song. So make sure you go ahead and grab which ever version suits you and bang the track, cause 40 is on his way!

news 1146396137 - January 1, 1970 By : Everybody and their mama knows the classic 80's hit "Love Is A Battlefield" by Pat Benatar. Well, what happens when you take that sample, and let an Infamous/G-Unit artist from Colton City, California give it his own twist?

40 Glocc is a household name on dubcnn, and took that task upon himself. Sometime last year he let me hear his version of "Love Is A Battlefield", but we decided against releasing it at that time. People weren't ready! Now it's 2006, people got a better understanding of who 40 Glocc is, and through his Infamous/G-Unit affiliation, the world got to see him on "The Massacre Tour 2006" all over the world.

With his current street banger "
Where Them Hammers (ft. Sam Scarfo)" (Prod. by Rick Rock) blazing radio stations nationwide, and his buzz steadily growing, I thought now would be a good time to let ya'll get a glimpse of some, you might say, different Hip-Hop.

Anyway, enough talking, it's time to let ya'll check it out! Listen to 40 Glocc's "Love Is A Battlefield" by clicking below:

40 Glocc - Love Is A Battlefield

40 Glocc is also getting ready to go on tour with Mobb Deep & the Infamous camp (Nyce, Gail Gotti, Sam Scarfo, 40 Glocc, Alchemist) for the release of Mobb's new album "Blood Money". I will be bringing ya'll the tour dates asap, lookout for them to take over the House Of Blues in Hollywood around the end of May, where 50 Cent is rumoured to be making a surprise appearance. Stay tuned!

news 1147885225 - January 1, 1970 By : "I would like to dedicate this album to all people around the world who live in constant fear of being arrested, deported, attacked, or murdered just because of who we are." - K-Salaam

Queens, New York Producer K-Salaam is gearing up to hit the Industry and the world over the head with his infectious music filled with tons of social commentary. Along with Beatnick, the production duo's Shining Star Music, with backing from Koch, will be releasing The World Is Ours on Jully 11th. The Album is sizing up to be massive with features from Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Saigon, Rakaa Irescience of Dilated Peoples, Sizzla, Papoose, Da Backwudz, dead prez, Bobbitto and others. On top of the quote above, K-Salaam also had this to say about the project:

"I would also like to dedicate this album to all people who have had their land stolen from them, from New Orleans to Palestine. We must take it upon ourselves to learn about what is really happening around the world, rather than watching the news because we are not going to get any type of truth from watching a media broadcast that is funded by vampires...Furthermore, I would like to dedicate this album to the people who created this music and culture that is currently being raped by major corporations and record labels. The majority of people who are making big money off of hip-hop are people who have added nothing to the culture, and are not giving anything back to the communities where it originated."

These quotes, plus more, will be in the inlay of each CD. So, if you're feeling what he's saying here and would like to read more, cop the album on July 11th. Here's a few quotes from a couple of the artists on the album:

"It is a blessing to be a part of this project, to be doing something positive for the people through our music, thats what we do. The Lord would not have created the World if he didnt mean for us all to live in it peacefully. We gotta work together to make things right. We stand behind K-Salaam. The World Is Ours." - Da Backwudz

"The world belongs to the people, but it is controlled by the strongest army...through organiztion we can fully excercise our power as a people and as individuals. As individulas we have to do what we can to survive and gain position that can help the whole...THE WORLD IS OURS!" - dead prez

Here's the tracklist and 3 tracks for ya'll to preview:

His street banger "Where Them Hammers At" is getting airplay and on "G-Unit Radio 22", Forty and Fifty team up with Prodigy of Mobb Deep to take on the "Serial Killa" beat from "Doggystyle".

We will hear the result of this collaboration on Friday when the mixtape drops. 40 Glocc is also about to release his new mixtape with DJ Whoo Kid called "Outspoken Vol. 3: Infamous/G-Unit Edition". news 1157968358 - January 1, 1970 By : Carson California is home to some of the emerging talent out here on the westcoast in 2006, most notably Bishop Lamont who signed a deal with Dr. Dre on his Aftermath imprint.

Two other artists from Carson hoping to make similar waves are Blaze-1 and Profit who are two-thirds of of a new collective known as the SouthWest Click. The final member of the crew is Skillz who hails from Atlanta.

So in Atlanta you will find the hit making, state-of-the-art studio, Patchwerk Recording Studios - the team which are planning to bring you their first group in over six years with this project.

Blaze-1 and Profit have grown up together and have been rhyming together for well over 10 years yet it was through their affiliations with Patchwerk Recording Studios, that saw them hooked up with Skillz in early 2001. Blaze-1 and Profit were at that time part of the local Los Angeles trio, Last Word Clique, before they ventured to Atlanta in 2000 to work with Blaze-1's older brother, Curtis Daniel III, who is the COO of Patchwerk and longtime friend of Patchwerk CEO and former Atlanta Falcon, Bob Whitfield.

Growing up in Carson, California (the city north of Long Beach, southwest of Compton) Blaze-1 and Profit, who are now both 23, were constantly surrounded by the notorious Crips and Bloods gangs. While everyone in their hoods were out gangbanging, they always allowed rapping to take precedence over negativity. The two of them spent most of their time busting raps on the block and both cite musical influences from artists including Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ras Kass and Ice Cube

The southern half of the SouthWest Click is brought by the aforementioned Skillz who got his start in music early on. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, 24-year-old Skillz started writing in the 9th grade. Coming from a musical family, (his aunt was part of the 70's group, LaBelle), it didn't take long for him to find his way into music. Skillz, who gets his name from his long list of musical talents such as artist, writer, and producer, has worked on projects with T-Boz of TLC and R&B artist, Nivea. A life-long fan and admirer of UGK, NWA, Outkast, old school and alternative music, Skillz brings witty humor and lyrical finesse to every track the group unleash.

So far they have released some singles and the "Hustle Harder" and "SouthWest Click" mixtapes however they are now turning their attention to their debut album entitled; "SouthernCaliforniaSixtyFourHydraulicMusic." If it bears any resemblance to the similarly titled "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" from Outkast then we are in for a real treat.

The album is due to drop later this year however until then, enjoy the music we have below which includes a collaboration with Ras Kass called "Street Fame", their new single "Ridin' Real Slow" and finally "Get Ya Money."

SouthWest Click - Street Fame (Feat. Ras Kass)
SouthWest Click - Ridin Real Slow
SouthWest Click - Get Ya Money

We will keep you informed on this talented trio as the debut album draws near but until then ensure you catch them on your local radio station and performing at the hottest venues and car shows in your city. To learn more about the SouthWest Click head over to their Official Site.

news 1160759717 - January 1, 1970 By : Official Press Release: Emerging West Coast rapper Damani has signed with My Block/Sony Urban Music, who will release the young artist's first full-length album.

An Inglewood native, Damani is pioneering a new approach to West Coast rap, breaking musical and lyrical boundaries as a dominant force in the current Los Angeles hip-hop scene. An in-demand MC in local hip-hop clubs, Damani began to draw airplay on major LA radio stations -- including serious BDS spins on Power 105.9 and K Day 93.5 -- with tracks like "Inglewood" and "Gotta Stay Paid."

Raised on the streets of LA, Damani was determined to develop a sound and style that would transform the LA hip-hop world. Toward that goal, he released his breakout mix-tape, "Congratulations Playa," hosted DJs Reflex and Skee, which made him one of the most sought-after artists on the West Coast.

As admiration for his skills grew in the local rap community, Damani earned the respect of a number of West Coast rap pioneers, whose work had first inspired him to go into music, including Dr. Dre, Mel Man, and his biggest influence, Snoop Dogg, who called Damani an artist "….I could pass the torch to and watch it burn."

"Damani is an important new voice in West Coast hip-hop, combining the truth and soul of the streets with hypnotic rhythms and an incredible musical sophistication," said Lisa Ellis, President, Sony Urban Music. "Sony Urban is proud to welcome him to our label family and look forward to working with him in creating a new chapter in hip-hop history."

"Damani brings a new perspective to West Coast hip-hop," said Kawan "KP" Prather, Executive Vice President, A&R, Sony Urban Music. "As much as he was born and raised in Inglewood and has the respect of the streets, he has also seen other parts of the world. And he's able to let people know, through his music, that it's ok to represent your hood, but it's also great to experience as much life as possible. To me, that's gangsta, for real."

We will keep you updated on everything surrounding Damani. Incase you missed his mixtape "Congratulations, Playa", which he had available for download, check it out now below:

news 1171043838 - January 1, 1970 By : Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Baldy exploded on to the hip hop scene in the early 90’s when he connected with cross-town rivals “New Breed of Hustlers” of Riverside, California. There he began producing for Mobstyle Records connecting with childhood friend and platinum producer Meech Wells.

In the words of Baldy, “Me and Meech were always cool, we lived in the same neighborhood and knew each other, but we never actually worked together until Mobstyle. They had their own commercial studio and I was able to hone my production skills and learn some tricks of the trade from him”.

Baldy later moved to Vancouver to mix down his debut solo album “9991” and ended up opening his own independent record company, Hard Tymez Records. After receiving radio and sales success with a string of 5 albums, the label came to a halt for personal reasons.

Baldy then returned to LA, where he reunited with Wells who was working on numerous other projects including Wells’ first solo album “The Cure”.

“Meech was working on his record and he asked if I wanted in; there was no question” claims Baldy. “He was workin’ with The Game, Freeway, Bad Azz, Kokane, Drastik, Rob Dog and others so it was phat.”

Meech signed Baldy as a producer to his production company “In a Zone”. And in his spare time while working with Meech, Baldy began work on his new solo album “Overtime”, which Meech Wells subsequently executive produced along with Mr Cas from New Breed of Hustlas.

Baldy then returned to Vancouver to put the finishing touches on his album and hook up with some more artists. With tight production and a definite West Coast feel “Overtime” has it all; the personal songs, the conscious songs, the club bangers, and the smoke songs. Be on the look out for “Overtime” soon, and check the tracklist below.

Unlike the city of sin, you will find Ali Vegas to be a humble contestant who has fought hard to keep his integrity, spirituality, and positive outlook in this game -- a rarity that is refreshing to find in a world of self-centered, materialistic hip-hop.

On the verge of releasing Generation Gap 2: The Prequel, a concept album merging old school artists and new school artists in the form of teachers and students, Ali Vegas speaks with Dubcnn about his original idea to introduce the past to the future, and vice vegas.

“If yesterday could understand tomorrow or tomorrow could understand the troubles of yesterday, then today would be a better day,” says Ali, adding, “[I wanted to] put the students and the teachers in one classroom.” And with marquee appearances from Rakim, Styles P and AZ, and production from the heavy-hitters such as DJ Premier, L.E.S., Scott Storch, Cool and Dre, this emcee’s future is looking very bright.
