1163034042 - January 1, 1970 By : The West Coast event of the season in the Bay Area this year will be the official and Concert Series, scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2006, the gig, sponsored by Laid Black Productions. The evening will feature San Francisco favorites including Unda Da Influence (U.D.I.), Charlie Manhattan, Esbee, and a slew of other great Bay Area hiphop artists. The show will be held at The Rawhide, known to hiphop fans as simply “The Hide.” The club is at 280 7thStreet, conveniently located off Folsom. The entire party will be hosted and taped by the popular Boyowski and A-1 Sway of the infamous “Hypnotik Show.”
The house will also be rocked with the likes of DJ Unda Cut of the beloved Def Con DJ’s. Rapper Esbee says of the 21 and over only gig, “This is hiphop for the grown and sexy!” Ladies who arrive before 10:30 pm will be admitted free of charge, and among those representing for the ladies, Myss Wyld Chyld, herself, will also be performing. M-Lott Gang, Pacific Division and T-Gunna (formerly known as Tayda Tay of 11/5) are among the many others who will grace the stage. The evening will also unveil some of the new tracks that will be released by the upstart label, RNB Entertainment Group in the coming year.
Says Laid of Laid Black Productions, “This was a lot of work to put together, but it is going to be well worth it to see the Yay partying together.”
The evening is considered significant as well, because several of the artists who will perform have new albums that will be released during the New Year, and many consider the evening to be a preview of what is to come from the Bay Area in the ’07.

1170356597 - January 1, 1970 By : It was October of last year when we first introduced you to one of L.A.'s finest hip hop groups, Pacific Division. The group, that comprises of Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung, had at that point just released their acclaimed "Blend Tape" which created a huge buzz among the Los Angeles hip hop community, even getting the attention of Snoop Dogg on his pre-album track "My Peoples".
We released two track for readers to check back then "Fareal" and much talked about cut "Women Problems" with production from Swiff D.
We also reported that they were working with their counterparts, Bleu Collar, Diz Gibran, and Ben Kartwright on their collaborative project entitled "The Great Wall," a project that we premiered the first single from the project, where they flipped Busta Rhymes' "NY Sh-t" into a new anthem for Los Angeles, "L.A. Sh-t."
We have all this music once again for download below; however, as the title suggests Pacific Division have moved ever onwards and upwords earning them their first mention in The Source magazine as part of the Off The Radar feature. They can be seen on Page 32 of this months Power 30 issue, a scan of which we have below.
Pacific Division - Off The Radar (Scan)
Pacific Division - Fareal
Pacific Division - Woman Problems
The Great Wall - L.A. Sh-t
We will be keeping you up to date on this trio that are set to blow in 2007; including an exclusive interview, this is another example of the fresh talent that the westcoast has to offer. Until then check Pacific Division at their official MySpace page.

1172425227 - January 1, 1970 By : The Hip-Hop concerts known as Unity originally started in 1991 and became the central point of a whole Los Angeles Hip-Hop movement. Started by William Lanakila Operin aka "Bigga B," Unity catered to a growing Hip-Hop audience and laid the foundation for an environment where Gangsta Rap prevailed in the early nineties.
Unlike countless other events of its time, Unity saw legendary Hip-Hop artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Pharcyde, Biggie, Jay Z, Hieroglyphics, Boot Camp Click and others grace their stage.
A decade-and-a-half later, Unity is being resurrected by the legendary Soul Assassins under the new name title Soul Assassins Unity Festival.
The previous sold out show was a monumental display of Hip-Hop enthusiasts and performing artists alike connecting in the true spirit of Unity. The show was an over-whelming success and The Source magazine was there to capture it all, which resulted in a feature two-page spread in the January 2007 edition. Chace Infinate of Self Scientific said; "The first show was an incredible night, it was proof that people still want to see quality Hip-Hop shows, March 8th is gonna be crazy!"
Due to the first Unity's sold out show, the second installment of Unity on March 8th 2007 had to be expanded and will now be held at the famous Avalon Theater in Hollywood. This event promises to be an eclectic resurgence of mind blowing Hip-Hop energy which features the first official Los Angeles performance by La Coka Nostra, a supergroup comprised of House Of Pain's Everlast, Danny Boy, and DJ Lethal, Non Phixion's Ill Bill, and Boston's very own Slaine.
Also onstage will be Evidence of Dilated Peoples along side Defari of the Likwit Crew, plus Puerto Rican rap star Chino XL and new Hip-hop buzz group heavily featured on dubcnn Pacific Division. All star DJ's for the night are DJ Mark Luv / Zulu Nation, J-Rocc of the Beat junkies, and Mr. Choc. The event will also feature a cash only retail installment by L.A.'s premiere streetwear boutique Grey One.
In the continuous spirit of excellence Unity will host special surprise celebrity performances only to be revealed once you step in the door. We urge everyone to get tickets in advance to guarantee entry as this show will also be Sold Out! Tickets are available at Groove Tickets or via the Unity Myspace page

1172832689 - January 1, 1970 By : Since we first unleashed Watts flame spitter Bad Lucc onto our readers in 2005 things have snowballed dramatically for the up and coming artist.
From relative obscurity he emerged and instantly made the world sit up and take note; from his vocal tone to his flow, from his lyrics to his ability to craft a song - he made sure that when he dropped a track it was fresh and worthy of listeners attention.
Westurn Union, a group that he had been in with Damani for some time at this point, also started reciving attention with the "Jackin' 4 DJ's" series they were putting out and soon recruited a third member, Soopafly. The buzz grew stronger, the music kept getting fresher and before anyone knew what was happening the group was working on their debut album, made an appearance on Snoop Dogg's "The Blue Carpet Treatment" and Damani inked a deal with Sony Records. Not bad for a year's work!
While Damani and the Westurn Union as a collective continue work on their debut albums, Bad Lucc also wants to ensure 2007 is the year of his first solo outing. Since the turn of the year he has had his head down grinding out hits for his release which, although not yet titled, will be out after the Westurn Union album in the summer.
The first track we have is a THX produced banger that sees Bad Lucc getting real serious for a moment on the issues that are really effecting his life; "I cant really hit the streets cause i aint risking it all, i don't wanna say oh sh-t but there's chickens involved, i gotta take life slow, that was passing me by, too weak to hold my head, too much of a man to cry, on the comp all day, myspace and the blogs, i would love to get out, no money no cars, bills popping up and i ain't made no moves, i feel sick, shit stunna must've took my groove, i could fall down through it, but that ain't my style i just conjour up a way to keep making these smiles."
The lyrics don't get the angst he creates with his voice as he delivers these heatfelt verses and when they align with the killer hook by B.J. The Chicago Kid you really get the truth he is trying to get across.
Bad Lucc - Real Sh-t (Feat. B.J. The Chicago Kid) (Produced by THX)
On the second cut Bad Lucc enlists Westurn Union partner in rhyme Damani and fellow Watts native Halla [see our On The Come Up article] for a track called "Gangstas." This high tempo, heavy bass production is by none other than Swiff D, who laced the acclaimed Pacific Division track "Women Problems" that we dropped last year, all the MC's on this track match the hard hitting beat with equally vicious lyrics.
When asked about the track Bad Lucc told Dubcnn; "This one is just about how in Cali, we dont need a reason to do sh-t. We just go. Whether it's shooting, fighting, whatever. We dont need a reason to do that sh-t. We from Killa Cali. Its all green light. This is more war than peace, ya dig!"
Bad Lucc - Gangstas (Feat. Damani & Halla) (Produced by Swiff D)
We guarantee that if your a fan of Lucc already then he has not dissapointed again with this new music and those of you new to the talent then this is sure to turn your attention and make you a believer! Stay tuned to dubcnn for the latest on Bad Lucc's debut, Damani's album and the Westurn Union project. In the meantime head over to Bad Lucc's MySpace page for more information, images and audio.

1214956495 - January 1, 1970 By : There is no doubt that Double-0 and Nalledge aka Kidz In The Hall have an unconventional success story compared to what you hear most of the time when talking to rap artists. The Chicago/New Jersey duo released their debut album "School Was My Hustle" in 2006 through Rawkus Records, and later aligned with Duck Down Records to release their latest album "The In Crowd".
Some refer to their style as "hipster hip-hop", but you don't have to categorize them in order to dig their music. Incase you aren't familiar with Kidz In The Hall, we have just what you need to get introduced to them.
They just released a West Coast remix to their current single "Driving Down The Block", using the "Nuthin' But A G Thang" sample. They reached out to fresh Universal signees Pacific Division, Young Money's Tyga, Blu Division's Glasses Malone and the Prince of the Bay Mistah FAB to jump on the remix with them.

1092804373 - January 1, 1970 By : YinSumi Press, the worlds first publishing house dedicated to documenting the political and social aspects of the Hip Hop sub-culture, in conjunction with www.lyricalswords.com, is proud to announce the release of Adisa Banjoko's highly anticipated book "Lyrical Swords Vol. 1: Hip Hop and Politics in the Mix" on November 2nd 2004. Edited by journalist Ali Asadullah, "Lyrical Swords" is a collection of essays and interviews on Hip Hop culture, politics and social issues written over the last decade. Hip Hop cultures political effect has been a highly discussed topic in this Presidential election year.
While new to most of America, this arena has been Adisa's stomping ground for over 15 years. "I was raised in my early days politically by my parents" says Mr. Banjoko. "In my young adult years I was raised poltically by panthers, rebellious artists, poltical activists and urban educators in my world. This book, is a cliff note of that journey."
Pioneer Hip Hop journalist, Adisa Banjoko, hails from the San Francisco Bay Area. His articles have graced the pages of The Source, The Harvard Hip Hop Archive, XXL, Vibe, Yoga Journal, Grappling, Daveyd.com, Rapstation.com, Pacific News Service, and Allhiphop.com among others. His book "Lyrical Swords" features intervews and essays with some of Hip Hop's greatest icons including Russell Simmons, Q-Tip, Everlast, Martial Arts Legend Royce Gracie, Paris, Mystic, Dilated Peoples Rakaa, Encore, Shamko Noble, Shaolin Monk Shi Yan Ming, and many others. He is easily one of the most respected, hated and loved people in the Hip Hop community.
Under the pen name ᶴThe Bishop of Hip Hopᶴ, Adisa Banjoko has entertained and educated many on Hip Hop culture, Eastern philosophy, Martial Arts, Islamic culture, and African American social issues. Host of the critically acclaimed One Mic Radio show, his poltically charged antics got him swiflty removed from the wickedly conservative 910 AM KNEW which host radio personalities such as Mike Savage and Bill O'rielly. "I knew I was doing something right, when they booted us", Adisa laughs. Nevertheless, his online support grew globally. Downloadable at www.lyricalswords.com, it has proven to be a core bridge between the Hip Hop and Political realms. Past guests include Presidential Candidate Al Sharpton, WMD Insp. Scott Ritter, Warren G, Jackie O, Paris, MC Lyte, Daz Dillenger, DJ QBert, T-La Rock and Wu-Tang Clan's Masta Killa.
Mr. Banjoko㙠s knowledge has earned him countless invitations to lecture at prestigious universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Santa Cruz and San Francisco State, just to name a few. He has shared the stage with political and cultural icons such as S.F. Mayor Willie Brown, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich, Hip Hop pioneer Afrika Bambataa, rap legend Chuck D, and pioneer b-boy Crazy Legs. "I'm trying to get the young people of the world to arm themselves mentally and politically. On November 2nd after you go to the polls, vote for yourself and get 'Lyrical Swords'. I'm gonna be touring the continental U.S. the next few months. I'll be walking all over the streets of the Bay, LA, NY, the ATL and Philly with these books. Wherever people are getting boxed outta the game by these snakes and fakes, I'm gonna be handing out these swords to libirate minds."
People looking for a glimpse of "the swords" can go to www.lyricalswords.com (designed by graf legend Scape Martinez) and get 3 complimentary chapters of the book sent to them via email.

1119384148 - January 1, 1970 By : June 20, 2005 (Los Angeles, CA) Multi-platinum rap producer DJ Muggs has joined forces with critically acclaimed hip-hop duo Self-Scientific and formed a new label, Angeles Records. Angeles is the latest addition to Fontana Distribution, the independent distribution division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company. Initial releases will include DJ Muggs vs. GZA, a unique collaboration between Muggs and Wu Tang Clan’s GZA. The second release, Change, is the much-anticipated follow-up LP by one of LA’s most talented, but underexposed groups, Self-Scientific. Both albums are due out in October.
“The industry has changed profoundly over the past decade,” explains Chace, the MC of Self-Scientific, about why they decided to ink a label deal of their own. “The majors aren’t interested in --or prepared to-- deal with developing acts anymore.”
“That’s where we come in,” explains Muggs, and adds that while most indie hip-hop labels today are putting out very left of center music, Angeles is about “true, pure, quality hip-hop.”
“Muggs and Self-Scientific are true entrepreneurs in every sense of the word,” notes Steve Pritchitt, General Manager of Fontana, “we are thrilled that they have chosen to be part of the Fontana family.”
Most known for his seminal work as the DJ and producer behind the legendary rap group Cypress Hill, Muggs has worked alongside rap heavyweights from Dr. Dre, Wyclef, Mobb Deep, GZA, and RZA, to name a few. Indeed with such an extensive credo, Muggs is a heavyweight himself. Also part of the group the Soul Assassins, Muggs today has his own radio show on Sirius Satellite on Shade 45 called “Mash-Up Radio” and tours with multi-platinum groups like Blink 182. Most recently, Muggs scored one scene in the new Ice Cube movie "XXX.”
Self-Scientific, composed of Chace Infinite and producer DJ Khalil, burst on the scene with their much lauded LP, The Self Science. Since then, Khalil, long heralded as one of L.A.'s best up and coming producers, has kept busy working with Dr. Dre and Aftermath Records on a production deal. MC Chace can be heard on Sway and Tech’s latest album Back to Basics and Talib Kweli’s Beautiful Mixtape Vol. 1. The duo released a compilation earlier this year called Gods and Gangstas.

1127865593 - January 1, 1970 By : Hip-Hop is in for a change of guard. Two young artists are currently cultivating their talents, while in the last leg of their college careers. They are Tec Beatz and Juice, collectively known as The Replacementz. The two, who are both lyricists and producers, have been a team since the respect of their peers brought them together during their sophomore year at Clark Atlanta University.
Each of them had transformed their dorm rooms into makeshift production studios; and though they did not know each other, Tec and Juice were making music in sync. "My friends came down and told me there was some dude down the hallway making beats too," recalls Tec. "I got down to his room, and he was doing the same stuff I was doing. Same type of music and all that." Since then, The Replacementz have fallen into the perfect dynamic with Tec as the producer and Juice as the lyricist of the group.
What gives them an edge over many other young up-and-comers is that each artist understands the other's style and skill. "I can do things to his beats that other people probably would be scared to do," says Juice. Their unique sound, which Tec defines as "futuristic," combines the soulfulness of the Midwest with the crunk rhythms of the South and the lyricism of the East Coast; a versatility which comes from Tec and Juice's individual musical backgrounds.
Born and raised in Chicago, Juice's interests in the music business were sparked by his brother, who is ten years older than him. "He was one of my role models," he explains, "so everything he did, I wanted to mock." When Juice was in the 8th grade, his brother released a single, which inspired Juice to seriously consider a career as an MC. While Chicago artists like Twista, Do or Die, and Crucial Conflict were exposing the world to "fast rap," Juice felt at a young age that the game needed something new. Thanks to his older brother, he had been exposed to more than just the Chicago sound, listening to MC Eiht, Geto Boyz, Nas, Jay-Z, and Three 6 Mafia. In high school, Juice and his best friend formed a group and took the underground scene by storm. Once he relocated to Atlanta, though the distance put a strain on his group, Juice's personal career goals remained undeterred.
Tec Beatz grew up in Gainesville, GA in a family of musicians. Fascinated by the sounds to which he was constantly exposed by his uncles, he knew at a young age that the music itself was what he was interested in making. After one of his uncles gave him a drum sequencer when he was in the 7th grade, Tec started making beats and never looked back. His natural talent was strengthened by a formal education acquired through years as a percussionist in both his high school band and the Clark Atlanta University marching band. When other lyricists were slow to catch Tec's vibe, he made himself into the MC needed to navigate his sound. "I'm looking ahead to the future. I might not live to see it, but that's how my mind set is," he states. "I try to make the most futuristic sounding music as possible."
Less than two years since The Replacementz got together, they have attained an impressive level of success both in and outside of Atlanta. Supported by their management, Division 1 Entertainment, they have performed on stages ranging from college talent shows to the first annual Vibe Music Fest, and have collaborated with such mainstream artists as T.I. and Stat Quo. And so impressed was the latter, that he endorsed and hosted The Replacementz first mixtape, The Panic Room Mixtape, Vol. 1. In addition to their own mixtapes, The Replacementz have also been featured on mixtapes by some of the most respected DJs in the game, including DJ Drama, DJ Don Cannon, and DJ G-Spot. In March of 2005, the group released The Panic Room Mixtape Vol. 2, featuring their first single, "Worldwide." They are in the studio constantly, taking advantage of every opportunity to continue to hone their skills, while expanding their already impressive catalogue. The group has gotten the attention and support of several major players in the game. As Stat Quo said, "The Replacementz are the real deal! Check for anything these young cats are doing along with the Division 1 Entertainment staff."
"If you want something you've never had, you must do things you've never done"

"Robin Thicke is going to change music." - Pharrell Williams
Dubcnn was privileged to be invited to a private gathering held by Star Trak and Interscope Records Rap Department entitled the "Wanna Love You Girl" lounge which showcased artist Robin Thicke. The affair was hosted by the Vice President of the Rap Division, Kevin Black.
We have film footage of this extraordinary talent, as Robin Thicke performs songs from his upcoming album live on a grand piano.
Video: "Wanna Love You Girl" lounge showcasing Robin Thicke
Music Video: "Wanna Love U Girl" Featuring Pharrell
Visit the official Robin Thicke website at www.robinthicke.com
Big thanks to Echo and Echoing Soundz for inviting us to the event.
Robin Thicke's Bio
One year ago Pharrell Williams asked Jimmy Iovine, CEO of Interscope, “What are you doing with Robin Thicke?” A few months later, Robin was recording his first single “Wanna Love You Girl” with Pharrell in Miami, as a newly signed artist on Pharrell’s label, Star Trak Records. This explosive, smash single immediately attracted the attention of radio and club DJs across the country.
The Evolution of Robin Thicke is the second solo album from the critically acclaimed, Grammy award winning songwriter, producer. The album is a timeless work of art. With a voice of purity, passion and soulfulness, Robin brings to life the stories and emotions of the last two years of his life. Admittedly, those two years have been a tumultuous ride of ups and downs.
The Evolution of Robin Thicke is filled with incandescent magic. It is an album that tells the tales of love, loss, temptation, redemption and finding hope when all the odds are against you. “My greatest desire with this album was to write songs that were completely honest and sing them with the emotion I was feeling when I wrote them, so that whoever listens to my music is brought as close to my experiences and life as possible.”
With this intention, Robin created songs such as, “Lost without You” (the second single). An instant classic, this song is about Robin’s insecurities and his need to be desired and loved. With sweeping vocals over rhythmic Spanish guitar, this song takes you away and makes you sing along.
On the psychedelic, “High School Man” is where Robin infuses rock and hip-hop and poetically admits “I’m a hater” as he hates on those with more success than him realizing, ironically, he just wants what they have.
Finishing off The Evolution of Robin Thicke is the hopeful and encouraging “Thank You.” On this gospel inspired, piano ballad Robin sings, “maybe I’m the one who never gets up ‘till he falls,” making the discovery that he has to be thankful for everything that comes into his life…the tears, the joy, the failures and the successes.
Always carrying a heavy heart, Robin taught himself to play piano at the age of twelve so he could have an outlet to express himself. By the age of fourteen, he could play anything he heard on the radio. At sixteen, with no formal training, Robin began professionally writing and producing music for recording artists like Brandy and Brian McKnight. Over the years he has amassed dozens of gold and platinum records with artists including Usher, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera.
Reflective, redemptive, passionate and etched with a soulfulness that is undeniable, The Evolution of Robin Thicke is an imaginative and heart-felt album that you cannot help but be moved by, bob your head to and smile throughout.

1132122756 - January 1, 1970 By : Big Shouts to Black Wall Street for hitting YOUR number one West Coast news source with this Exclusive news. Sony Urban Music along with Big Ego Entertainment has signed the newest star from the West Coast, G.Malone. The same man who found superstar The Game, Former Aftermath Music A&R Exec Mike Lynn, is behind this signing. Mike Lynn, who has his own label imprint through Sony Music, just inked the Watts native's 1.7 million dollar label deal. Sony and Mike Lynn were so impressed with the grimey Watts rapper that they not only signed him as an artist, but gave him his own label imprint Blu Division.
G.Malone’s debut album The Beach Cruiser will be on Blu Division/Big Ego Entertainment/Sony Music Distribution. As stated earlier, Mike Lynn was the one who brought Multi Platinum rapper The Game to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath imprint, has now saw the same vision and the movement in G.Malone. He was so eager to sign the Watts emcee that he was willing to pony 1.7 million dollars for the deal and give G.Malone his own label imprint. G.Malone, who has been bubbling on the underground nationally, had label offers from Def Jam and The Game’s own Black Wall Street, but decided Mike Lynn and Sony saw his vision clearly for his Blu Division Movement and how he plans to shakeup the rap game.
G.Malone, who is a Black Wall Street affiliate, is still managed by G-Ride and Big Fase 100 of the Black Wall Street. G.Malone’s debut album The Beach Cruiser will be dropping in the 2nd quarter of 2006. He will be dropping the follow up to his smash mixtape White Lightning Sticks before the year is out. The Blu Division Movement is in full swing stay tuned.

1141172492 - January 1, 1970 By : Lockz and Ludeboi both born in Inglewood, look to represent their city to the fullest. While Lude was raised in Inglewood, his counterpart Lockz was raised in what is known as the "outskirts" of Inglewood, on the Inglewood/Los Angeles border line.
Though the two are definitely different in styles there is one thing that remains identical; their love for music. That love for music overcame the clashes of personality that once divided them in high school. But from writing never recorded songs to hallway freestyle battles, they always sought to advance to the next step of making music.
Throughout those battles the two were rarely seen apart, and although they were different their styles seemed to mesh well. And after long contemplation the two decided to "join forces" and make music as a group. The two formed The HomeTeam.
They just wrapped up their debut mixtape "First Swing", and are actually having a release party for the mixtape March 5th @ The Joint in L.A. along with Glasses Malone's artist Conflict, who's celebrating the release of his "2nd Wind" mixtape. To check out the flyer for the release party, click here. Invited guests include Bishop Lamont, Glasses Malone, DJ Warrior and many more.
I have two tracks from the "First Swing" mixtape for ya'll to check out. The first one is the title track, "First Swing", featuring Quiz, who is no stranger to dubcnn visitors. Quiz just let me know yesterday that he is now signed under G. Malone's Blu Division/Sony imprint. Check out the track below:
The HomeTeam - First Swing (ft. Quiz)
The second track features Vino and has a reggae feel to it. It's called "Welcome 2 Cali", and Lockz and Lude demonstrate their chemistry once again. Grab it below:

Enjoy the music, and hit up the forum to leave feedbacj! Make sure to hit up the release party if you get a chance!

1147381561 - January 1, 1970 By : It's two years on May 28th since we introduced Mykestro to the world on dubcnn in a news article/interview with both Mykestro and his older brother and westcoast legend Battlecat. [View the article in the Archives].
When asked to describe himself he told dubcnn: "I would say I'm absolutely universal. I have alot of versitality, and definitely not what you would expect out of L.A. I come from a musical background, MC and production wise. I'm very consistent as far as lyrics go, I'm a MC!"
When asked about his influences growing up Mykestro shouts without hesitation that "Kurupt was my hero! That's my hero right there! That's who I looked up to when coming up, I always felt like he was a different type of MC, so that was my main influence from the gate. But now I listen to alot of different shit, I like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharaohe Monch, Ice Cube.. I like real MC's, I like Slum Village, Jigga of course, Eminem is a monster, Busta Rhymes, of course Biggie & Pac.. Yeah those are the main ones" While his big brother told dubcnn; "To me man, Mykestro is like Jay-Z and Common Sense in one... yeah he's like the mix of the two!"
Since then things have only been on the up for the artist that Tawala Sharp of KKBT Los Angeles said; "Hip-Hop is a couple, lost on a dark highway...Mykestro is the map that will set West Coast Hip-Hop back in the right direction."
Dubbed "The Best West OF The 110," Mykestro is THAT dude who is grinding hard and making his presence felt on the westcoast. His pedigree includes appearances on LPs by Snoop Dogg, countless mixtapes, and working with his older brother, the prodcution legend that is DJ Battlecat. On his debut single, Mykestro has linked with two of L.A.'s newest and brightest stars, Glasses Malone (Blu Division/Sony Music) and Bishop Lamont (Aftermath/Interscope) to deliver a record that could be a contender for CD Single & 12" of the year come December. Even rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother got nothing but love for Mykestro: "I f-cks wit Mykestro."
We have the audio from the single which is being released by ABB Records featuring Glasses Malone and Bishop Lamont with production from Terrace Martin and Diverse; cop the single to enjoy the "Raw & Uncutt" mix produced by DJ Battlecat.

1151504141 - January 1, 1970 By : Compton, California has seen the rise of some of the greatest artists in the history of Hip Hop. The City boasts a resume of legendary artists such as Eazy-E, Dr. Dre & Ice Cube to name a few. But, with the rise of the latest Compton based record label, it is now poised to witness yet another phenomenon from the West Coast. Brazil Street Record's is releasing their latest Mixtape, Brazil Street Hustlaz, which is going to hit the streets hard. The project had such a magnitutde that Brazil Street Records & My World Management had to enlist a DJ of the same magnitutde, the Cali Untouchable himself DJ Warrior to Mix and Present the 33 track monster of a Mixtape.
With a solid Brazil Street roster, they are aiming to cement Compton, once again, as the foundation of Gangsta rap. Their movement comes full swing with this Mixtape, which features bangin' new tracks from Friday, KBL, B-Fly, Badseed & Ya-O (The Lost Soulz), Broadcast, Chase, Lawless, Inessa, Yung Klev, The Set and Sony/Blu Division's the Watts native G. Malone. Big Fase Hunned himself even makes an appearance on the project. While everyone has heard rappers claiming to spit fire, The Brazil Street artists all lace each track with nothing less than certified Grade A napalm. Watch as The Brazil Street Hustlas hit the street in full force with this release, as they bring some of the sickest flows delivered in years. On top of the flurry of hot up and coming emcees, enlisted for Production is Frequency, Soundwave, Focus & The Otz, to name a few.
In case you're not sold on this Mixtape yet, we have a little write up for ya'll: Starting the Mixtape off is the menacing "Snap Freestyle," where we find Friday delivering a brash flow and unprecedented lyricism that paints a poetical portrait as this young talent is prepared to dominate the industry. G. Malone upgrades his breakthrough anthem "200" and now adds 100 Eses, to show love to all those that have supported him, creating the street banger of the year "300". The Mixtape also includes features from Major Blood, Finesse and the Bay's own Ya Boy. Make sure you dont miss out on the biggest release to hit the streets in a while. This Mixtape is 33 barely containable tracks from the streets leading movement. Just in time for Summer, this is guaranteed to be bangin' on systems from West to East, North to South and everywhere in between. Compton's next generation emcees are prepared to carry on the legacy of those before them, and along with the help of DJ Warrior, the Compton cartel is set to take the streets by storm and establish their dominance. Don't miss the project that'll take the streets in a chokehold, show your support.

1164974472 - January 1, 1970 By : One of the West's hottest up and coming artists Glasses Malone, who's been known to tell the truth, nothing but the truth, no matter how hard to take that truth is, released a public service announcement over the internet last night, called "Kingdome Come", where he adresses the negative comments about Jay-Z's latest album "Kingdome Come", as well as the West Coast artists/fans in general.
Read it below:
"Why cant hip hop artist grow up? This Jay Z album should help alot of us with our transition into being older, wiser, and responsible adults. The Hip Hop critics have try to crucify this cd. Whats wrong with a 37 year old man to show growth. That nigga is ole enuff to be someone's grandfather for christ sake. It would've been a crime for that man to rap about slangin rocks, or gunnin people down. Its a shame to see rappers his age rap about juvenile shit such as gang bangin, slangin, and other ignorant things.
Not to mention these artist who have been successful don't even understand whats really going on in the hood. Thats why we constantly see these lowriders, khakis, and all type of other shit in these videos. Niggaz aint wearing that in the hood. Its just a foul misrepresentation. When was the last time they been to South Central, Inglewood, Watts, Compton, Long Beach? We look so old to the rest of the world. Where are the Dodge Chargers? where are the Harleys? If you been to L.A. lately, muthafuccas are wearing $500 jeans. Niggaz rarely even go to Crenshaw. The New Crenshaw is Broadway. Have you been there?
Rocks aint poppin in L.A. anymore. Pills are the new crack rock, Cush is the new crack rock. Open your eyes L.A.! Fuck that open your eyes whole world. Jay Z has commited the worse sin in hip hop. Being SUCCESSFUL! But is it really that horrible? Is it wrong to tell the youth what type of things lie ahead if you handle ya finances correctly? Is it wrong to convince the youth to stop putting worthless rims on a car? Is it wrong for a man to say don't waste your money on jewelry? Sounds like something my father would say. Guess what, Dude and my pops aint that far apart. So why not give worthwile advice like getting your credit together. Buyin property(nightclubs). These are the dreams people should aspire to achieve. Not a Phantom. Embrace the cutural growth.
I wish West Coast artist close to this man's age would make music that actually played a role in our street culture. It probably could help alot of these street issues. Why did I have to be the first one to make a song uniting crips and bloods? I'm glad to hear the records that have been inspired from my music. *Enters "Tha Sermon"* Once I'm done with you muthafuccas(fans and rappers alike) You gone look in the mirror at your self different. You gon have to ask yourself, Why can't I keep it this real? Pooh said "Tha Sermon" is too advance for the hood. We will see.
So I end this with embrace albums that show growth. We all gotta grow up. Why not learn from someone who has been thru our same path? Oh, and I wanna give a shout out to my boy Mykestro "The best rap Nigga eva", Bad Lucc " I been listenin to yo shit today nigga", Problem "Thats why yo deal gon be for $800 dollars, lol" , Bishop Lamont "Mr I-Sneak-on-WestCoastrydaz", and Pooh "Gettin 20% of all my muthafuccin money" and every New West emcee........Not to mention my squad "Blu Division/Firin Squad" our time is now Niggaz!"

1176889905 - January 1, 1970 By : Luni Coleone and Cool Nutz are set to release their new album "Every Single Day" June 5 on Always Hustlin Entertainment / Jus Family Records. The independent album will be released independently through RBC Records (Tech N9ne, 8Ball, C-Bo, Planet Asia and more). Luni Coleone is one of the most prolific and respected Northern California rappers, while Oregon rapper Cool Nutz is a pioneer in his region. Every Single Day is the pairs first collaborative effort and the chemistry shows throughout the monumental release which unites two of the Pacific Coasts most renowned street-certified acts.
When the two hit the studio in Washington state to start recording "Every Single Day", they made a point to focus on things that people from all over the world could gravitate towards. The sonically mellow but lyrically intense title track sets the album off with a nice blend of gangsterism, lyricism and reality.
Other highlights on the album include the car anthem Skirt which describes the street car culture and includes Rocafella, whose voicebox (the voice-alteration method popularized by Roger Troutman) gives the song a classic feel. Luni Coleone & Cool Nutz know that diversity is key, which is why they switch their sound on Here Go and What, two rowdy, intense crunk and hyphy cuts.
Now working together, Luni Coleone & Cool Nutz have delivered what is sure to be one of the best independent rap albums of the year with Every Single Day. Maybe thats because the collaboration was a natural one.
Get a sneak preview of the album by downloading the 2 songs below. "That Doe" featuring and produced by Bosko, and "Luv For Slugs".

1193244775 - January 1, 1970 By : Aww sh*t... Blu Division up in this! Glasses Malone got a early X-Mas present for all the dubcnn visitors! Fresh off his signing with Hoo Bangin'/Cash Money Records, Glasses teamed up with West Coast DJ's Dow Jones and DJ Skee to drop his new mixtape/street album called "The Electric Chair" aka "187.4FM WBallz Radio" for free download!
I can feel all the old Death Row fans going "Huh? WBallz Radio? For real?" That's right! They went and got the original DJ EZ Dic and Salty Nutz to handle the interludes on the album, which fits perfectly, as this mixtapes finds Glasses Malone and his entire Blu Division crew flowing over several Death Row classics from "Doggystyle", "The Chronic", "Dogg Food" or "Murder Was the Case".
Take a ride through the Eastside with Watts' own Beach Cruiser, who introduces his Blu Division team on the tape: The Bloc Boyz, Roc Slanga, Quiz & Conflict. Additional features include Daz Dillinger, Mack 10, Butch Cassidy, The Relativez, 211, Akon, Gangsta Granny, with production by Dae One, DJ Toomp, Terrace Martin, Golden Eye, Drop, MikeCity, J Doe, Rhythm D, Conflict & J Steez.
Ain't nothing else to say about this mixtape, just go ahead and download it below:
