Dubcnn is always keen to introduce talented new artists to our readers and today is no different. One of the hottest Hip-Hop artists and songwriters emerging from the WestCoast at present is an artist that has been grinding for some time now ghost-writing and recording material to hit the public with.

Aww sh*t... Blu Division up in this! Glasses Malone got a early X-Mas present for all the dubcnn visitors! Fresh off his signing with Hoo Bangin'/Cash Money Records, Glasses teamed up with West Coast DJ's Dow Jones and DJ Skee to drop his new mixtape/street album called "The Electric Chair" aka "187.4FM WBallz Radio" for free download!
I can feel all the old Death Row fans going "Huh? WBallz Radio? For real?" That's right! They went and got the original DJ EZ Dic and Salty Nutz to handle the interludes on the album, which fits perfectly, as this mixtapes finds Glasses Malone and his entire Blu Division crew flowing over several Death Row classics from "Doggystyle", "The Chronic", "Dogg Food" or "Murder Was the Case".
Take a ride through the Eastside with Watts' own Beach Cruiser, who introduces his Blu Division team on the tape: The Bloc Boyz, Roc Slanga, Quiz & Conflict. Additional features include Daz Dillinger, Mack 10, Butch Cassidy, The Relativez, 211, Akon, Gangsta Granny, with production by Dae One, DJ Toomp, Terrace Martin, Golden Eye, Drop, MikeCity, J Doe, Rhythm D, Conflict & J Steez.
Ain't nothing else to say about this mixtape, just go ahead and download it below:

It's only been a month since Cashis released his last mixtape called "The Leak" here on Dubcnn [see: Shady Records Rapper Cashis Brings You "The Leak"], and the Shady Capo has already returned with another new mixtape for free download exclusively on Dubcnn. Today we bring you the 22 track deep "Loose Cannon Mixtape Volume 1".
Cashis picked that title for the mixtape series because it's an early preview for the offical "Loose Cannon" debut album dropping on July 25th. That's right, Shady Records finally gave him a release date for the summer as they're nearing completion soon. Just by looking at the line-up of this double album, you can tell that this could be one of the biggest projects to hit the Coast in the last few years. It has a nice mix of guest appearances from the likes of Eminem, Young Buck, Obie Trice, Bun B, Cee-Lo, Tru Life, Juelz Santana, San Quinn, Mistah F.A.B., Goldie Gold from The Federation, Keyshia Cole, Jon B, and many more to come.
But back to the mixtape: The project, which was mixed by DJ Arkane and compiled by Rikanatti and DJ Arkane, features original production by the Blocc Boyz, Tha Bizness, C Major as well as borrowed beats. As far as the content goest, you can expect a different side from Cashis this time around. «With "Loose Cannon" I wanna set a high level of quality. It could really be an album because I really put my heart into it. It shows my maturity as an artist, because there are a lot of different songs on there. Of course you got the West Coast influenced tracks and even the radio songs because certain people didn't know I could do them» Cashis told Dubcnn.
Besides dropping the free mixtape series, Cashis will also be shooting a few videos in the coming weeks. «I got a crazy West Coast anthem called "Brand New Chucks" that we're gonna shoot a video for. It's produced by Eminem and it's about loving California and our culture out here. We're gonna shoot that, and also the jump off single which might be the song with Bun B. So we're gonna be shooting three videos real quick» Cashis continued.
As you can see, Cashis' grind is in full motion and the buzz is getting bigger by the day. To keep the ball rolling you can download Volume 1 of the "Loose Cannon" mixtape series below.
Cashis - Loose Cannon Mixtape Vol. 1 [Download page]
For booking information, hit up the official MySpace at myspace.com/cashisoc. Also be on the lookout for the full length interview with Cashis coming soon on Dubcnn!

After gaining a major buzz in 2007, The Bloc Boyz (K-Boy & Ace) are gearing up to flood West Coast hip-hop fans with quality music for the rest of this year. Between a new mixtape “Reality Check” that’s dropping for free download in a few weeks, and their long-awaited street album “Real Talk”, The Bloc Boyz are putting themselves in a perfect position to blow up in ’08.
K-Boy and Ace have been friends since high school, but it wasn’t until later that they officially came together to form The Bloc Boyz. “We ran back into each other somewhere on Sunset, linked up, and started doing a couple little things. Ever since then, that sh*t was just right,” said Ace. At the time, K-Boy had already aligned himself with Glasses Malone after an impromptu freestyle session. K-Boy recalls, “When me and Ace got back into contact, I [said to Glasses], ‘I’ve got a boy that wants in’. Once he heard Ace, it was a wrap. Since then, it’s been Blu Division for like three-and-a-half or four years now!”
In ’07, The Bloc Boyz appeared on a variety of mixtapes, including Glasses Malone’s “Electric Chair”. [Download Here] With the Death Row theme surrounding the project, instant comparisons were made, and some declared The Bloc Boyz as Tha Dogg Pound for a new generation. When asked about this, Ace simply said, “The Dogg Pound put it down hard for the streets. We take that as a compliment. Shouts out to Kurupt, shouts out to Daz.” The duo worked with Daz on “The Electric Chair” as well, and they considered it an honor. K-Boy told us, “To link up with a legend and a motherf*cker that you grew up to, listened to, and looked up to? That’s crazy! For him to f*ck with us, and for him to give us that stamp, it’s unbelievable. I’m lost for words.”
As of late, the self-described “lab rats” have been recording material non-stop. The first offering from The Bloc Boyz will be “Reality Check”, a mixtape hosted by DJ Ill Will, DJ Rampage, and DJ Blvd. When asked about the project, Ace said, “That’s basically a whole lot of music that we’ve been recording. We’re just gonna do it for the internet - free download. Following that is the street album, which is crazy.”
The forthcoming street album in question, “Real Talk”, is promised to be “what the game’s been missing.” Ace said, “Basically, we’re giving you us. We’re giving you what we go through, we’re giving you what everyone else might go through. We’re actually talking about something. We’re actually having fun with the music. We’re doing different things, and just trying to showcase the West. We want to show people what West Coast life is really like.”
Aside from the mixtape and street album, K-Boy and Ace are also working on solo projects. K-Boy is putting together “The Green Mixtape”, which aims to bring West Coast unity to a higher level. “I’m trying not to glorify gangbanging in a negative way. Crips and Bloods can get along, we can do music and get money together, and we can be real friends. I reached out to [artists like] Jay Rock, Lil Bam, 211, Roccett, and Big Wy [for the project]. It’s gonna be a hell of a tape. What I wanted to do is put everybody together and let them know that we’re really pushing the ‘blue and red make green’ out here.”
Meanwhile, Ace has been working on the “Get It Gang” street album with Taje. “That tape right there is something serious. Taje reached out to a n*gga because he seen a n*gga grindin’. He seen what me and K-Boy were doing.” The group also has nothing but respect for LNS’s Dae One. “Shouts out to Dae One. Dae One was actually the first producer to really f*ck with us on a heavy level and provide us with a sound that only fits The Bloc Boyz. When we get into the studio with Dae One, it’s like magic,” says K-Boy.
With a full-lineup of street offerings this year, The Bloc Boyz are making it their mission to be heard. On top of the new music, the Boyz have established their own company, Hustle Money Ent., as well. The group is confident about their position in the game, and envisions major plans for themselves in the future. “[Other artists] hear the music and realize that we’re real n*ggas. Everybody’s f*ckin’ with us.”
We’ve got a new track from “Reality Check” for you to listen to today. The banger is called “I’m Hood”, and it’s not one that you’ll want to pass up. Download it below.
The Bloc Boyz – I’m Hood [Produced by Chris Judge]
Make sure to check out The Bloc Boyz on Myspace, and be on the look out for “Reality Check” to drop on Dubcnn for free download in the next few weeks. The group wants to give a big shout out to Andino, the studio they record at, as well!

On "Hairbraider", the smooth, melodic tones of their production compliment Kellz's auto-tuned vocals flawlessly. Check it out below.

“You don’t have to go to L.A. to get your MC Eiht,” Lloyd Banks contended on his debut album, Hunger For More, which entered the Billboard pop chart at Number One. Banks’ assertion on his madly successful album keenly demonstrates how deeply it is ingrained within hiphop consciousness that MC Eiht is known as being the streets’ ultimate spokesperson for the West Coast. Period.
As signified by the title of Eiht’s new album, Veterans Day, slated for release on September 28, Eiht is one of the true O.G.’s of L.A. hiphop, a true veteran of the ghetto, emerging in 1989, with the debut release from Comptons Most Wanted, It’s A Compton Thang. Coming into the game, Eiht rolled along side Tha Chill, their luminary scratcher DJ Mike T and producers Slip and DJ Unknown. Cited as a select musical inspiration for producer/director John Singleton’s classic film, Boyz In The Hood, the group’s single, “Growin’ Up In The Hood” was picked as the single for the film. Eiht’s releases with CMW, Straight Check’n Em and Music To Driveby quickly became West Coast underground classics. Eiht, who has graced the cover of the Source Magazine twice, appeared in the Hughes Brothers’ feature film Menace II Society, and also achieved critical acclaim for his indelible single, “Streiht Up Menace,” which appeared on the film’s multi-platinum selling soundtrack, which held the Number One spot on the Billboard Top 100 R&B Albums Chart for eight weeks. We Come Strapped, which quickly achieved gold status, created controversy for its no holds barred attack on racist police officers, and was eventually attacked in a speech by then Presidential candidate Bob Dole. Rolling Stone Magazine was among the media outlets that joined in the frenzy to address the fact that Eiht’s record label, Epic Records, felt compelled to issue an extra warning sticker on the disc, which stated that Eiht’s lyrics were not necessarily the opinions of the Sony label.
Eiht released Death Threatz and Last Man Standing, officially ending his time with Epic, and then he signed with Priority, releasing Underground Hero, Section 8 and N My Neighborhood. Always in demand, he has accepted numerous offers to record duets on albums released by other artists, a few of which include Spice 1, Scarface and Pete Rock, but now he’s back on the solo tip with a new album, Veterans Day.
Eiht comes back for the kill with his new album, Veterans Day, released by West, Inc. Records though Native Records with distribution by Ryko’s Penalty Associated Labels. Again, as noted by the album’s title, Eiht is reveling in the light of a long career that has garnered him sheer respect from the streets, as well as countless props from other artists. On Tupac Shakur’s birthday this year, L.A.’s KWPR 106 FM re-broadcast the interview during which Pac stated that when he was in prison at Dannemora, he fervently listened to MC Eiht’s music. When Ludicris broadcast his video countdown on MTV, he opened it up with Eiht’s “Streiht Up Menace.” To Eiht, these were not just props---they were omens. “All of this just told me I needed to be working on putting an album out, to keep going. I had done some projects that were just to keep my name out there, but I realized this year that I really wanted to do a significant album, which will actually be my very first since being in the Priority situation.” Despite his heavy reputation in the hiphop world, Eiht acknowledges, “To some people, this will be my first solo album, because they weren’t around for my prior releases, and to them, this will be my first album.”
The production on Veterans Day was done by Tha Chill, who has also recently recorded tracks for Snoop Dogg’s 213. There is one exception, and that is the track, “Some Of These Thugs,” produced by Prodeje of South Central Cartel.
>From its provocative intro, “Vetz Day,” Eiht takes the listener into the streets with him. He potently explains of the album’s opening, “It’s the national anthem, but this version is our national anthem, for those that can relate to it. It’s national throughout ghettos everywhere. You’ll listen to it, and you’ll say, ‘That’s real what he’s saying there,” referring to the police violence, the people, my generation, and he’s trying to make a point.”
Among the album’s tracks is “Gangsta Smash,” which Eiht describes as “a gangsta groove song. It’s just telling gangstas to mash to this groove."
“It’s Alright” deals with the problems and struggles going on with males and females as they hustle up and do what they need to do to keep food on the table.
Being a true vet, “We Made It 2004” derives from a song CMW did on their first album. Eiht says, “We had a clean version, a radio version on that album, so we recreated it here. We made it a street version for 2004.”
Words from the wise, “Nobody Beat Us,” says Eiht, is a Biz Markie remake. “Like nobody beats the business,” pontificates Eiht, but I’m saying that nobody beat us. I’m using old school sounds on this record, using a little Biz Markie and UTFO. I think people will like this cut that features people from my era who started out with early hiphop.” It has a bit of an East Coast feel to it. It’s all West music again, however, when Eiht returns with “Streets Don’t Love You,” which Eiht describes as “more steered towards classic Eiht, CMW music. It’s that old Barry White that we’re known for. CM-Dub is known for heavy Isaac Hayes, the Meters, stuff like that. I was thinking of veteran shit, old school shit, trying to do something significant, so people would say, ‘That’s classic Eiht right there.’ It’s explaining the circumstances that we live in today.”
“I speak for the people on the streets and the underground,” notes Eiht. “I try to keep my music on that level. I don’t deal with how much money there is, or how much it’s going to cost to get a chick that is a celebrity. I can’t talk about people in Compton riding around in Bentleys and going to the clubs, messing with models. We don’t even have any clubs in Compton. My music is about being in the neighborhood, being around real people, who are stuck in the struggle of doing whatever they be doing, every day jobs, dope dealing, trying to take care of their families.”
He adds, “A lot of guys never get a chance to do what I’ve been doing, but I still stay true to where I started, still being able to connect with folks. That’s why I feel I can touch a lot of people.”
You don’t have to go to L.A. to get your MC Eiht, because instead, you can go to the nearest place where there’s a record store, and get a copy of Veterans’ Day. Geah.
