I ain't mad at that list. Everyone listed is an arguable Top 10 MC. Obviously I'd switch a few people here and there like take Jigga out of #1 and replace Eminem with Scarface.
-
well atleast the mc's t hat are mentioned are idd as u say arguable top 10 MC's.. though i would put Nas, Rakim & 2pac above jay-z anyday.
-
I don't think Jay deserves the first spot maybe top 5

Here's #4-#1:
http://www.mtv.com/bands/h/hip_hop_week/2006/emcees/index8.jhtml
For some reason Nas at #5 is replaced by Honorable Mentions.
-
the list could have been a lot worse, obviously everyone will have their own corrections to make...
-
Nice list.
-
Its very good to see ICe Cube up in there man, he aside from KRS, RA, Kane and LL influenced that whole list man, I mean Cube started alotta shit Big Pac Jay rapped about, theyre album sequence and concepts are heavily influenced by Cube's albums...Nas really deserves a spot but Jay-Z is great and all but shit man he is as commercial as Snoop is, and Snoop has influenced and innovated, sold units brought in artist and help bring back artist as much as or if not way more than Jay-Z so that shit is disrespectful in a way to me, granted Jay-Z kept his name hot, but "Reasonable Doubt" dont hold any weight toward "The Chronic" "Doggystlye" and "Dynasty" dont hold any weight toward "Dogg Food" or "Murder Was The Case OST" against "Streets IS Watching" come on man! but its all good i guess it is what is....
-
of course Jigga is number one, his made the industry tons of money, and they reward him. Same with BET putting Jigga number 2 right above Rakim and below 2Pac.
-
No way is Eminem top 10 Im sorry not even close
-
fuck jay-z being number 1....that's bullshit. i'm not surprised though a new york rapper who always does shit for mtv programs. i say the list 2-8 are legit but as for everyone else i think that list is fuckin wack.
-
Jay-Z has to be the most overrated rapper in history.

::) Go to any non Jay-Z dedicated board and ask who's the most overrated rapper and most'll say Jay. And I love how you say people from Cali catch feelings yet you have to resort to dissing Cali in most of your posts.

You actually think 2Pac, Nas, Ghostface, and Biggie aren't worthy?
Not at all. I'm a big Ghost fan, but he's not that great (yet).
-

While I'll say he's not the best MC in Wu(GZA) His work on Wu-Tang's 1st 2 albums plus 2 great albums in Supreme Clientle and Ironman would get him a nod.
-
I haven't seen his influence yet in artists like say we saw from KRS, Cube, G-Rap, Chuck D, BDK, DOC etc.

Jay is overrated. To say he's better than Big, Kane, or Rakim is absurd.
-
Jay is mad over hyped. Pun>Ice Cube.
-
Jay is mad over hyped. Pun>Ice Cube.
:loco: He never dropped anything remotley close to Death certificate and AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. And Ice Cube is top 5 most influential rappers.
-
I feel Pun a lot more than I do Ice Cube. I respect Cube and definately think he has been one of the more influential artists. However, Capitol Punishment was a classic and I have never heard anyone that can fuck with that album lyrically. Pun could have been the greatest lyricist of all time if he could control himself. If you saw the DVD on his life, you would see what I am talking about. I am a bigger fan of Pun. No Pun intended, lol.
-
can somebody explain to me what makes jay z "greater" than anybody on that list?
-
Damn the top five are almost exactly the same as mine, just switch Biggie and Pac and perfection...and by the way i'm not from NY, i'm from Long Beach
can somebody explain to me what makes jay z "greater" than anybody on that list?
He's got a sick flow AND sick lyrics
-
^^^he's definitely talented, but "great?" i gotta say the nay no, my damey.
-
its all gonna come down to personal opinion, people will NEVER agree on this
eg: i think tupac is overrated as fuck and should be down near #8, but most people will disagree

Never said he was, but you cats compare him to emcees like daz and snoop and thats an insult towards Jay.

Im a big ghost fan be he isnt top 10, i dont even know if hes top 20. Snoop isnt even close to top 30. D.O.C. didnt have much impact on the game and has one true album, even tho its a classic he aint top 10

Why wouldn't Ghost be in the top 10? He is the most consistan rapper in the game. Been here since 1993. He was in Wu-Tang + His solo albums are all dope. Lyrically he is above Jay-z, LL, offcourse above Eminem and many more...I know everybody has a different opinion, but nobody can deny that Ghostface is one of the best in hip-hop lyrically.
-
I predict that by next year Proof will be in this list, lol.

Ghost without a doubt is one of themost consistant to ever do it. But his influence as a solo artist is minimal at best. Now that I think about it, hes top 20 but not top 10.

doubt it.

DOC didn't have much impact on the game?!? You're kidding right? DOC was pretty much the father of Dre and Snoop. If that's not having much impact then i dunno what you're smokin.

One album.... and dre was the one that got DOC in the game so how is doc his father.
-
The D.O.C. ain't the father of Dr. Dre haha. But it were Dr. Dre, The D.O.C. and Suge Knight who brought up Deathrow Records. Without The D.O.C., Dr. Dre wouldn't have done business with Suge Knight from what I have heard.

I knew this was gonna turn into a "Name Your Own Top 10 Greatest MC's Of All Time".....

I'm ok with the list except that I would take of Jay at nº1 and change the numbers of some. Also I would give honorable mentions to Big Tray Deee and Kurupt.
