Dubcnn.com received word that Crooked I wanted to speak with Dubcnn shortly after our Snoop Dogg interview (Part 2) was released. The reason why was not to discuss a new release or project, but to discuss some comments made regarding Crooked I by Snoop Dogg during the interview.
In this one hour feature with Crooked I he tells us of his surprise at the comments, his reasons why he believes the comments were made, his past detailing his youth and much more is discussed in this exclusive interview.

Dope interview fellas. Yeah I felt the same way Crook did when the Snoop interview premiered. Crrok was just trying to make his mark in hip hop history when he went to Death Row and add to that legacy. It is not his fault Suge had bad intentions and Snoop thought he is trying to dirty up his memory. I really hope that some good comes out of this and the west as a whole. I do not think they have to form a group or collab on some shit, but at least for Snoop to recognize and except that Crook ALSO wants to see a unified and successfull west coast movement.

Fans aint stupid, they could pick up on what Snoop was saying. It's good to see the support for Crook even after all these years and all the label politics he has had to go through. Although I am losing patience with homie waiting on the bomb album ;D But just look at all the post in the forum of people defending him.

I dont listen to crooked I because of the whole deathrow vs snoop thing but i really feel is interview.I read interviews with crooked i and snoop where they both call each other out but i know westcoast have great artists but not only snoop need to make power moves with them but what about dr.dre...to me i thing that nigga is selfish! and i really think snoop and crooked need to unite. remember a chain is as strong as its weakest link.

i gotta say. I've been down with most of what Snoop has had to say about unifying the West and think its exactly what is needed. But I think Crooked I comes off better on this. Crooked isn't trying to start nothing and actually wants to make some money with Snoop. I think they need each other because Snoop is carrying the West but Crooked I along with Ras Kass and Bad Azz are the best talent to continue the West. I mean Snoop can't be serious about not liking his style especially when he got at Crooked early in his career. Snoop if you are reading this be real about that unifying tip and link up with Crooked. Lets see you lead by example, like you did on that track with Too $hort and Will.I.Am. A track with 3 west coast heads from different areas and different styles.

It ain't that important to me if Snoop and Crooked I do a track together. They have worked together before. As long as they can come to a understanding and move forward. The only thing Snoop could help Crooked I with is some exposure by being on a track.

long time to be sitting still infront of the computer but that was some of the realest shit i ever read and heard. Crooked just moved up a notch in my book after that. Agree with pretty much everything in his response.

I've read a lot of Crooked I interviews in the past, and in every single one of them he came accross as a very humble guy, but this interview tops everything, period.
Crooked I knows how to give interviews. A lot of rappers give some shitty replies when asked a question, and a lot of them can't even construct a proper sentence! They just say some words combined with "and shit"/"you know what I mean homie?"/"mothafuckas" and other stuff like that. When they say 500 words, at least 250 of them will have nothing to do with the interview, but simply them struggling to make their point clear.
Sure, Crooked says "you know what I mean" occassionally too, but the man explains what he's talking about. He's not talking about stuff vaguely. He makes his point clear. Even if it takes 57 minutes! The man's articulate, and I wish that more rappers would be like him.
It's like a lot of rappers are afraid of giving the impression they're 'intelligent'. Always busy trying to maintaint their 'gangsta-persona'.
Also, the part where Crooked talks about him dropping out of junior high...that was interesting. I indeed had never heard him say that before. He must be one of the few artists in the game who actually cares for the youth. How many rappers wouldn't exploit that part of their life in interviews? A lot of them. I've read many interviews in which artists say "And then I dropped out of high school" acting like that's a cool thing to do. Crooked I had no other choice this time than mentioning it, but he immediately adds that he's NOT proud of it.
As always, I really wish Crooked I the best of luck with his carreer. There may be a lot of talented rappers on the West Coast, but Crooked is someone who DESERVES to have a succesful carreer.

Um... if I read correctly, Nima asked him the question "You hooked back up with Crooked I yet?"
Snoop replied with a simple "I ain't never really had no problems with cuzz." (No diss)
Then Nima clarified his question a little to try and get more outta Snoop regarding Crooked by asking "I mean have ya'll worked together recently?" (Valid follow up question)
Then Snoop says "Nah, me and him ain't never really like... To be real with you I ain't never really liked cuzz' rap-style." (No diss IMO... just Snoop's opinion)
Then Nima is somewhat thrown off and responds by saying "You serious?" (Valid response)
Then Snoop says "I'm being real with you! It ain't never moved me like that. He wasn't like... To me, nigga, I had Kurupt on my team back in the days, cuzz! So if you weren't fuckin' with Kurupt..." (No diss again IMO... Snoop was just saying what he felt... why fuck with a Crooked I when you got Kurupt who break fools down on the mic)
At this point Nima should have picked up on the fact that Snoop didn't want to speak on Crooked... you can tell by the short answers he was giving (compared to the long ass answers he had given to all the previous questions). Snoop was cool about giving DubCNN a nice long interview and I feel like Nima was proding a little with his next comment...

At this point Snoop said how he felt, but again, I don't see that as a diss... he was explaining his position:

5. Crooked was from the "second team".

Then Nima is somewhat thrown off and responds by saying "You serious?" (Valid response)
Then Snoop says "I'm being real with you! It ain't never moved me like that. He wasn't like... To me, nigga, I had Kurupt on my team back in the days, cuzz! So if you weren't fuckin' with Kurupt..." (No diss again IMO... Snoop was just saying what he felt... why fuck with a Crooked I when you got Kurupt who break fools down on the mic)
At this point Nima should have picked up on the fact that Snoop didn't want to speak on Crooked... you can tell by the short answers he was giving (compared to the long ass answers he had given to all the previous questions). Snoop was cool about giving DubCNN a nice long interview and I feel like Nima was proding a little with his next comment...
"Crooked I can flow, he got the rap style down... He been waiting like eight years to put a record out, and he's still got a following."
At this point Snoop said how he felt, but again, I don't see that as a diss... he was explaining his position:

1. Crooked didn't "grow up" in the LBC.
This was clarified by Crooked and it appears that in fact Crooked was forced to leave given his situation but then came back... but I guess Snoop spoke truth... Crooked didn't "grow up" in the LBC during those years he was gone.
2. Crooked went to Death Row and had Suge in his ear.
Crooked said he told Suge he didn't want to diss them, but Suge told him "yes you are going to diss them because they are going to diss you"... OK... nice little alibi there... I "followed the sergants directions" but not really... I didn't want to do it... come on.
3. Snoop was dissing Suge and checking the Death Row inmates with Pimp Slapped... he even checked Kurupt to keep it crippin'.
I guess being called a "crumb" really hurt Crooked. That line by itself kinda says that Snoop didn't give fuck about the inmates... his beef was with Suge. So then Suge takes that diss and tells Crooked "see, I told you they was going to diss you... now you gotta diss them back." Crooked didn't want to look weak, but in the end he did.
4. Why fuck with a Crooked I when I have a Kurupt (at the time).
Again, Snoop is right... could nobody fuck with Kurupt at his prime.
5. Crooked was from the "second team".
Yeah, that might be a diss, but Snoop is right... Crooked wasn't in the starting line-up... Snoop just kept it real.
6. And the whole time, Snoop is saying he doesn't mean any disrespect and that he still loves Crooked I... Snoop just gave honest answers IMO.
So yes, you are right, Snoop did speak on Crooked first, BUT ONLY BECAUSE HE WAS ASKED. And Snoop gave three really short no-diss answers and Nima still proded. So if y'all wanted Snoop to keep his mouth shut, you should never have asked him to speak on Crooked in the first place.

Yea, true, Crooked I didn't grow up his entire life in the Long Beach, but he's never claimed that he has. It's a known fact that he moved to Philly at one point in time. Crooked's not mad cuz of that, he knows he didn't grow up there. But, Snoop talks West Coast this, West Coast that and NEVER brings up the fact that Kurupt moved out here at 16-17 straight from Philly, or that Pac came here at 16-17 from B-More.
