Title: Fat Joe Teams With Imperial, Virgin For New Album
Post by: Damien J. on September 01, 2006, 05:56:27 AM
Rapper Fat Joe will team with Virgin Records and Imperial Records, a new urban label development unit of Caroline Distribution, for the Nov. 14 release of his next album, "Me, Myself & I." The artist crowned the new deal Aug. 31 with a performance during a Virgin-hosted after-party for the MTV Video Music Awards in New York.

"Me, Myself & I" features collaborations with the Game and Lil Wayne and production from Scott Storch (on first single "Make It Rain"), the Runners and DJ Khaled, among others.

"I just started writing on my own and made the album I truly wanted to make," the artist told Billboard earlier this month, adding that the project was his "most in-depth album in terms of vulnerability and doing the music I love."

The new album is the follow-up to 2005's "All or Nothing," which bowed at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 293,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was Fat Joe's final set for Atlantic.

"No hard feelings, but they weren't feeling what I was asking for," Joe said of splitting with the label. "I've always been an artist to them, and they didn't understand me asking for my own imprint. But one man's trash is another man's treasure."

this should be interesting to hear...his last album was ass, and i think the sales reflect that fact...but Make It Rain is pretty dope to me, so should be interesting to see how this pans out
