its a real humble, piano type of beat. there's that 2001 thx sound after 4 bars but its unique.

I can't think of anything to compare it to, but you'll know it's a Dre beat when you hear the percussion.
One thing I can say is that it's fairly simplistic by his standards (basically just the drums, a couple piano chords, and then some dramatic synth drops at certain points), but Snoop and Dre's verses carry it. Not exactly loving the hook, but the rest of the song is so good that it's hard to care.

Definitely a nice track....but for those sayin it's their best shit in ten years.....it's nowhere near Still DRE, Next Episode, The Wash, B Please II, On the Boulevard.....and that's not takin anything away from it but it's just not THAT great from the first few listens. I like the concept for it though, best concept they've ever had on a track.

Nah man....I'm not biased at all with beats....I call out ANYBODY's beat that's not great. I definitely don't knock Dre for this beat, it's coo...but it's just not thaaaaat dope u kno?? If Quik did it I would say the EXACT same thing....the same way I was VERY disappointed when Quik gave Jay that "Justify my thug" shit that was VEEEEEEEEERY average.....if he had given him a "Black Mercedez" or somethin, it could have done a LOT for him...but I definitely didn't act like it was dope just because he did it.

Yeah that's how Dre always does it. I think he's just milkin the hell out of this current sound so that he can come with something completely new for Detox.

That's exactly what I would think....they'll probably sound a LITTLE bit evolved, but it'll be the same type of sound...just like "B please" and "Buck em" sounded a bit different from everything on 2001. Hopefully he brings back his basslines though...I don't care if most rap fans think basslines are played out, that will forever be a major element of music that will be around forever, ever, ever.
Even though he didn't produce "Been thru the storm", I can see some songs soundin like that. I would probably add "Start from scratch" to those tracks too. Get Low is just ridiculous to me though!!

personally, after a couple of listens, I went from disliking the chorus to absolutely loving it and realized how much it ties in well with the intstrumental and Dre and Snoop's verses.

i dunno, you might have to be a D angelo fan to appreciate it, but im loving the hook. Ive been a fan of Dangelo since day one, and he is prob my favorite R&B/soul artist by far (at least in our generation). So when you got my two favorite west coast artists and my favorite R&B/soul artists on one track together, its a wrap!
