Bill Maher, despite this being a funny clip is just helping to prop up the myth about the Iraq War going wrong. The Iraq war has not gone wrong, the neocons are guilty of war crimes but they are not guilty of bumbling. They need the population at war with one another to weaken Iraq, therefore bolstering the position of Israel in the region. They needed a permanent foothold in the middle east and that is exactly what they are doing by building 14 permanent bases in Iraq. A permanent residency in Iraq, means fighting and invading further middle easter countries is made easier, because then there are not the logistical issues and the geopolitical tightrope that other coutnries have to walk when allowing attacks to be launched from their country.
