Title: 2004 Honda Civic vs 2001 Mercedes ML320
Post by: Now_Im_Not_Banned on February 19, 2007, 08:35:07 PM
If the 2004 Honda Civic was $11,000 with 24,000 miles and the 2001 Mercedes ML320 was $21,000 with 64,000 miles, which would you take and why?

this is just my opinion, but if i bought an old white mercedes SUV id feel like a wannabe high roller.

get the civic. you pay less for the car, pay less for gas cus it burns less, and probably pay less for maintenance. get some woofers with some of that extra $10k and youre set.

I say look for a 2 door civic for the same price, same year. The sedans are pretty ugly, but that fucking ML is really not that nice of a car if u ask me. The ride isn't that great, handling sucks, features aren't all that impressive, and it does break down more often that any honda, toyota, or nissan. Plus, the honda has so much fewer miles on it. But then i'm not really taking into account the prestige of the BMW over the honda. I dont give a fuck though, i got a Civic back in LA and i'm pretty happy with it, though make sure you get a vtech cuz mine's not a vtech and the acceleration can be a bitch on the freeway

in the UK the civic is driven by asian people

they seem to think, because a car carries on running well over 100,000 miles its worth it

even tho its a sack of shit and u need to leave a blanket on the engine when its cold, and continually needs work done to it

the civic is a sack of shit

arent mustangs cheap in the US?

I like that Altima.  I test drove an Infiniti G35 last weekend and was REALLY impressed w/ it.  Had like 308 HP, good gas mileage, very affordable maintenance when compared to other luxury vehicles (ie $200 for an oil change on a BMW) all for $35M.  I'm getting a new ride when I get out to Scottsdale and really had my mind set on a BMW or a Lexus.  But that Infiniti came outta nowhere and really impressed me.

So if this isn't for you, what is your situation?  It's tough to give an opinion w/o the circumstances.

nope all they did was increase HP on G35 over the 350z.  G35 pushes around 300+ and 350z pushes around 260+ i believe.  Anyways man i would highly recommend a BMW, as a fellow BMW driver i got mine last May an 06 X5 i loooooooove the drive, awesome car.  Warranty is very affordable on a BMW i put the extended warranty until 100,000 miles and i don't have to pay for a dime until then.  full maintenance from the ground up, new brakes new spark plugs new everything, maintenace is every 15,000 miles for it.  You don't have to change your oil until your 15,000 miles so oil changes are free but i didn't do that, i changed my oil filter after 8,000 and just added castrol full syntec oil.  i get free road side assistance until my warranty ends and if i ever get into a wreck BMW will take care of all the body work and give me BMW loaner for the meanwhile.  I say check out a 5 series or a dope 3 series, maybe the twin turbo coupe they have.

I'm suppose to get a new car next year i'm looking at a G35, M3, or WRX STI.  I'm leaning towards the STI, 300 hp all wheel drive turbo sounds awesome and i get more bang for my buck.

yeah the STI is more sport than anything but i love the look of the car and i wouldn't have to worry about putting some mods into the engine like a bigger blowoff valve for the turbo or a fatter exhaust so the turbo can breathe better.  and if you were to get a G35 or M3 you sure as hell can't put any mods onto that shit because the simplest thing could void your warranty for example if you drop some rims onto your ride which are not approved by BMW and your suspension fucks up......your fucked and so is your wallet, you still warranty everywhere else but your suspension will no longer be covered if BMW realizes the problem happen because of the rims and BMW warns any buyer of this void in your warranty. but if your looking for the best of both worlds sport and luxury then the M3 is the way to go, that is the cheapest sport/luxury you can get for your money right now i believe so.  the g35 is sick don't give me wrong i would love to have one but there's no comparison.....M3>>>>>>G35 i'm thinking about the M3 but i'm waiting for the redesigned model to come out later this year or early next i'm pretty sure it's going to push at 400+ hp now that BMW also has a 3 series twin turbo coupe pushing 350 hp which is about 20 more hp than what the M3 is pushing now.

but honestly man you can't go wrong with either car i'm thankful and blessed for the car i have now.

The 2008 Infiniti G35 Coupe should sprint to 60 mph in way less than 5.5 seconds. The current G35 coupe does it in 5.9 with a 298 hp version of the VQ 3.5L. The 2008 estimate is 330+ hp, even with the new SAE horsepower ratings. Technically, if it wasn't for the new rule, that estimate would been somewhere in the neighbourhood of 350+. Those are amazing numbers coming from a naturally aspirated V6. The new BMW 335i Coupe on the other hand has a twin turbocharged 3.0 L Inline 6 with 300 hp. The Infiniti should smoke the Beemer. It already does in my eyes. If the production version looks anything like the concept, it will be a sure winner. Compared to the BMW, the G has a bigger, more powerful engine, better styling, more technology, and probably much more.

wait for the M3 man....hahaha just wait and see it will push more than the G35.

btw the 335i has no turbo lag whatsoever so i don't know about the new G35 smoking the 335i let alone the new M3
