Welcome to the world of rap music. Dre, Game, 50, Nas, Redman, DPG, Snoop, Jim Jones.... 99% of rappers rap about things that are fake. People act like 50 is the only fake gangsta. EVERY SINGLE main stream gangsta rapper is FAKE.

dunno about red, but nas has pigeonholed himself to keep up with the times. I love Nas but he does claim 'thug' in many songs. although he uses it as more of an adjective/idea as opposed to a claim/identity like most rappers do.

and for the record, DPGC were all crips at some point. at the very least they all sold some drugs on behalf of the crips at some point.

..and remember, real bad boys move in silence.

Well, yeah, that's what I'm saying. The context is really different; they don't say "look, I'm gangsta, I'm rich from selling kilo's. Don't mess with me because I'm dangerous and I'll kill you for whatever." To them it's a metaphor, more than an actual claim. In fact, that whole Escobar stuff was a surreal character more than a realistically projected image, and it was never meant to be otherwise.

im starting to dislike these dickriders more and more everytime i see an ignorant ass topic being made like a nerd like edimean 22.

"half yall was still in high school"

lol

what does that make you? a granddad who got 2 more years to live? dont try to act like your a vet or anything like that, if youre so cool with your niggas why dont you leave this forum and kill someone in the streets.

and to The King, i feel you (no homo) everyone just portrays stuff in their music that mostly is fake anyways. but people seem to hate 50 cent the most, dunno why, maybe cuz he got the most succes. stop dickriding the dipset bandwagon yall, that hate must be stopped.

I agree...it's funny how so many people hate 50 now, when the reality is that 4 years ago, they were all probably bumping "GRODT" and thinking of 50 as the shit cause he was going against Ja Rule.  Despite what all these street cred-obsessed crackers want to believe, it wasn't just the bitches that made 50 popular, it was other crackers like them.  And someday, when Cam pisses off everybody in hip-hop and Dipset starts losing their street cred (as well as sales), the next generation of crackers will pretend like Cam wasn't considered street credible and that it was just the bitches that liked him.  That's how shit works in hip-hop; I've seen it time and time again.

and for the record, DPGC were all crips at some point. at the very least they all sold some drugs on behalf of the crips at some point.

Not really.  Kurupt isn't even from L.A. originally (though I hear rumors all the time about how the Nhoods are cool with him), Daz can't seem to make up his mind what hood he's from, and Snoop's ties to 20 Crip are often disputed.  Some of the extended family (especially Tray Deee and Goldie Loc) are known bangers, however.

Lol, i dont even live in USA. How am i supposed to come over there? Is you gonna pay for my flight ticket? if so, then ill gladly visit your punk ass. You talk like youre a veteran and that we are all kids on here who "barely got outta highschool". But since you have nothing of any value to say i wont waste my time on that, keep smoking with "your niggas" and keep doing you thing, im sure in the future you will find what you looking for. But fact is you hate on 50 Cent cause he has "fallen off"....

Let me quote myself from another topic, read it and put that dick back in your mouth.

My opinion:

If a rapper/producer tries different styles he "fell off" or is "washed up" (kurupt, prodigy, 50 cent, lots of other examples, now dr. dre too)

If a rapper/producer sticks to the same old script he is boring and stuck in his prime.

The way y'all sounding is like nobody can do anything good, fuck that. Get on some real shit man, Kurupt didnt fell off he just evolved another style throughout his career, and im damn happy he did, it shows me he is capable of much more then people credit him for.

Same with Prodigy on Return Of The Mac, like people say "i cant listen to him blablabla" and "only the beats make it worthwile". If you cant listen to Prodigy dont listen his cd's and shut the fuck up, cuz the same dudes that say it now have been saying for years Prodigy fell off, and steadily been checking for every single mobb deep release, so what the fuck is up with that....

50 Cent same thing, aaaww man Power of the Dollar is classic underground shit, and damn, Get Rich Or Die Trying, that shit is really dope. But man Massacre, it sucks. Lol, yall dont even make no sense, Massacre is different compared to GRODT the same way GRODT is different compared to Power of the Dollar. He just changes his styles, looks for new ways, improve his originality, what the fuck is wrong with that. I can see the critics building up this summer when Before I Selfdestruct is dropping, people gonna say its wack and all that, but he will still sell millions, and the same people saying how wack his album is on internetforums, aare the ones that are buying his cd's as well.

Just my opinion on it, its stupid to say someone fell off. Stop dickriding and criticizing those artists man, they just do their own thang.

i like POTD and GRODT and even though I don't like 50, I will admit those are dope.  BUT that doesn't mean massacre is good.

furthermore, we gotta criticize the art. it's what we do, it's discussion

the guy's like 17 now (right?) and was like 14 when GRODT came out.. he was just a kid, and i know because im the same age... i loved GRODT then... although i still love it now, its for a different reason... i used to like it just cuz it was 50 cent, but now i like it cuz it shows talent (imo)... and in oklin's opinion, 50 has no talent... so what?

cuz talib kweli makes "real" hip-hop, thats undisputed... but what hes saying is 50 cent ISNT real hip-hop, hes a rapper, and thats what he likes: real hip-hip... so, he doesnt like 50

i feel the same way with nelly... used to bump everything of his, then i realized "hey, this guy is just a pop artist... fuck him"

True, everybody takes it personal and picks sides in beefs as if they were actually involved. But every body listens to G-Unit one way or another, most on this board just don't want to admit because they thinks it makes them less "hip-hop".

it's cause of MTV and reality TV. BET, VH1

people think they know the artist and they pass a judgment. all that shit boils down to who's hot, you know? it's stupid shit. but Biggie never would have blown up in today's environment. he'd be portrayed as a fat unlikable criminal while Tupac would be encouraged to do songs with T.I. and Timberlake. it's good that they weren't around for this, but perhaps it wouldn't be like this with them around....

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the slaying of two rappers has really changed anything about the music industry on a whole. It just made the rap fans more sceptical than they already were by the time Biggie started making fancy songs. He was good at it, but it sure was fancy.

well BIG did Hypnotize, he was one of the 1st rappers to guest on a lot of r & b records, and you also have "I Love The Dough" & "Mo Money mo Problems". I think Biggie's sugarcoating was mainly due to Puffy's ifluence, but Biggie did sound better than most over those tracks.

Tanj, I think it's the other way around, B.I.G. would be doing the songs with T.I. & Timberlake, while Pac would probably be another washed up west-coast rapper.

if Pac looked like Big and Big looked like Pac, that would be the case. but it's all image based, shows make people look how they do based on how attractive they are/marketable etc.

though that's a crazy anterniverse to contemplate.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the slaying of two rappers has really changed anything about the music industry on a whole. It just made the rap fans more sceptical than they already were by the time Biggie started making fancy songs. He was good at it, but it sure was fancy.

what do you mean fancy?

well BIG did Hypnotize, he was one of the 1st rappers to guest on a lot of r & b records, and you also have "I Love The Dough" & "Mo Money mo Problems".

I dunno, Pun was very popular, Fat Joe, E-40 still is mainstream, and there's plenty other ugly mofo's rappin in the mainstream right now. Big was just that special that I feel like he would still be mainstream, still selling records.

thats hipocrit, cause you know, its about the music, not the rapper, this personal stuff is trash, its about the product you buy, and you dont buy the rapper, but his cd, if thats good, fuckthe whole rapper, i rather buy a dope record of a wack personality then a trash album of a cool dude....
did pun, e 40, ANY of those dudes blow up in 05/06/07? nah. I'm saying if they were coming up in the game now

True, everybody takes it personal and picks sides in beefs as if they were actually involved. But every body listens to G-Unit one way or another, most on this board just don't want to admit because they thinks it makes them less "hip-hop".

it's cause of MTV and reality TV. BET, VH1
