I'm not sure how reliable my souce is, but a few months back T.I. was asked if T.I. VS TIP was gonna be a double disc, 1 side TI, other side TIP...he said to do that would be a waste for him, because 2-disc albums don't get tallied as 2 sales like they use 2...he said he mines would of been giving away the music 4 free
i am not 100% though, but that is what he said...

I know they have to be so many minutes each to be considered a double album. If it has that, they would count it twice. Seems like those numbers are counting it as one purchase. If it goes gold in a few weeks including the dropoff in sales it is probably counted twice, just not on the actual tally HDD is posting.

If that's true then he's retarded. Who cares if the RIAA counts it as two or not (the basic rule is that if the music execeeds 80 minutes it's 2 if not then it's 1) it has no affect on the money either way. If you're selling a 2 disc album for 20 to 25 dollars you get more money per unit than selling a single disc album for 12 dollars. It's not like you could sell a double disc for 15 dollars and somehow soundscan makes it worth 30 dollars.

cool, I picked this cd up on Saturday at BestBuy, came with the dvd, an extra bonus track, free ringtone, and free wallpaper, I also bought Commons cd, 2 dope ass releases in 2 str8 weeks..

I finally got around to coping this but haven't had a chance to listen yet. If they hit #1, that's good for them in this day and age, but I kinda doubt they're gonna hit Gold with those kinds of first-week sales. Still, the fact that the reviews have been so positive is encouraging for me from a musical perspective, which is what counts the most.
Although I've certainly noticed the attention "International Playas' Anthem" seems to be getting down here in the South, which is kinda odd cause I slept on it for so long.

i went to three stores yesterday looking for the UGK & WC albums...all 3 stores looked at me like a retard, because they had NO idea who WC was...2 of them new of the UGK, and said they *may* be receiving it...1 of the stores said perhaps in a few weeks, and for 27.99...the other store didnt say anything really...the third said they'll be receiving it for 30.99
Im not very interested in paying 27-30.99 lol..my homie is goin 2 Philly soon, im'a give em $ 2 cop me the WC, and maybe the UGk as well

You don't have to sell 1 million records to go Plat; your label just has to ship 1 million records to stores. It's entirely possible that the album will just get certified now if there's 99,000 copies of the album sitting on the shelves of record stores in America (which there might very well be) or if the stores have ordered more copies from the label recently.

901,000 sold. That's what Soundscan tracks. The RIAA tracks albums shipped, and issue certifications on that basis. Paul Wall's first album went Plat even though it only sold about 700K because the label shipped 1 million copies.

UGK On Topping The Charts: 'It Feels Good!' — For Now ... (mtv news)
For two weeks in a row, two legendary hip-hop acts have debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart for the first time in their careers. Last week no other LP sold more than Common's Finding Forever,and on Wednesday, UGK were officially given the news that their long-awaited LP, Underground Kingz, is the highest-seller in the land.
Both well-respected acts have about 15 years of experience under their belts, so does their new place atop the charts bode well for the rest of the game? "Absolutely," UGK's Bun B answered. "The music is still here. People are still here to support you if you make good music.
"It feels good," he added. "But I really don't know how you're supposed to feel right now. We want to thank all the fans and the supporters who wanted to see this happen really more than we did. It's really vindication for the fans, for the cats who were fighting for years telling anyone who would listen that UGK was the sh--. It's really vindication for them."
While Bun is enjoying the group's long-overdue, well-deserved moment at #1, the Port Arthur, Texas, native says he has no delusions of grandeur.
