You guys believe the world is coming to a end in 2012? I think it was december 22nd?
The Mayan calender, a asteroid, war are all things ive heard.
I buy the MAyan calender theory as far as a calendar goes but not as the world ending because of it.

Another theory from the metaphysical crowd is that there will be a worldwide shift in consciousness, and religion will come to an end. My money is that christmas 2012 will go on the same and nothing major will have happened.

I was just thinking that; what does he mean by "the end of the world"?
It's not like I give a shit about such speculations either, I'm comfortable.

That's what I've heard, and that seems more likely than the world ending. Whatever though, I could care less, end.

1st, I know young people who will live past 2012, and they will never stop being religious. So that won't happen.
2nd, the Mayans didn't predict the world would end in 2012, only that that cycle of their calendar would, and that it would reset and there would be something significant, something marked by the date that would signify a change in the future of the world. Essentially the date will represent a new dawning.
It would be much more appropriate to argue that the Christ will arrive in 2012 then it would be to argue that the world or religion would end. Mayans actually have a lot of christ-like imagery in their temples and their buildings, for instance they often show winged snakes. This is similar to the Christian idea that Jesus died (went underground, to the underworld) and then arose to the heavens.
I personally believe something major will probably happen in 2012 but I most definately don't think the world or human existance will end, because the mayans themselves did not believe that.
