God damn the west coast sectionn sucks big time!
All they do is talk about spider loc, and everybody is against that juicy girl. It's kinda funny, but people shouldn't be allowed making more Spider threads lol.
Can somebody please merge all those fucking spider loc threads into one?!

Ok I just took a look, on the first page there's 1 spider thread only but i locked one on the second page which was mostly juicy girl talking to herself.. I'll keep an eye open!

Those spider threads are just example, there are a couple of good threads in that forum.
But as some has mentioned - it's either about 90's DPG related, Detox, Crooked I or some album that won't won't be coming anytime soon.
But hell - I'mma cop that Yuk album when I get a chance! West ain't dead yet.

well, I've been here for almost six years and when I registered, (rational) people did believe Detox was coming, literally and metaphorically speaking. Things have changed since some of the long-time members registered. You've been here longer than I have, so who am I telling. And while I still love the west's rap classics I personally just don't think it's reasonable to act like there's a lot of hope on the Pacific coast these days. But no offense whatsoever to you, I'm assuming that you meant it's sad for west coast rap and not sad of the people who declare it dead

I get the feeling image is more important than dope music.
IMO, the best album from 2007, shit, probably the best album in the last 5 years came from a little known westcoast emcee, and he doesn't get the props because of his image.
At the end of the day, people would rather talk about cats like Spider Loc, Game or when Crooked I's grandson's releasing his new record, than giving props to the real artists like Murs, and up and comers like Blu & Exile.
Shit's disgusting, it's Outbound or nothing.

You're right, Evidence had some nice cuts on that record.
Eddie posted up a bulletin about Murs not so long ago, and I found it sunk down the bottom of the page without a reply.
I rarely check the forum, maybe once a month now, which is a shame because there are some decent mc's that I am probably sleeping on, but I can't deal with filtering through the bullshit to find that.
It's Outbound and WTR blog for me in the last months, that's how I got put on cats like Blu & Exile, and that record is just insane.

There you go, that's probably the point on here. I just think that most people on here registered cause they were into the guns-bitches-chrome-weed type west coast rap whose golden age happens to be the early to mid-90's. Most people on this board don't associate the west coast with Blackalicious, Murs and Dilated Peoples, but with Snoop, Dre and Kurupt...there's nothing wrong with that actually, those guys happen to have made some all-time classics, but this type of west coast rap has hardly made a noise in the last 5 years and on account of that you probably get a board full of reminiscent threads about Death Row and DPG and when it comes to more recent issues, Spider Loc is honored for celebrating the 250th anniversary of his album being pushed back. I'm not trying to offend people, but I think it's explicable.

I would say theyīre all among maybe the top posters on dubCC.

I think there's more good stuff than a lot of you think, but people are scared to check out names they don't know...
I'm aware of the fact that the West has been struggling for years, but like someone else pointed out, Hip-Hop in general is struggling, and the whole music industry is changing. People love negativity, that's why they're stuck on talking about Spider, it's not because they like Spider or whatever it's just because people love talking about controversial stuff, just like when Kurupt was on Death Row all people talked about was the Daz/Kurupt beef, or later the Game/G-unit beef...
There's still a lot of good stuff in the West Coast section, I see so many people complaining about the "good" topics not getting many replies, but I doubt that those of you who like those topics reply to them either, just because of the fact that they don't get a lot of replies.. Everybody loves to complain, but for it to change it's gotta start with you...
I wrote more than I meant to, but to sum it up, I definitely agree with you guys, but I just think that leaving the West Coast section isn't gonna help it... You know?

^^Chad, you are on point about that. I'm just as guilty of it as everybody else, but we do a lot of complaining about how nobody is making quality music and let it go unnoticed when a great album is dropped. There was a lot of good music talked about in that thread, but it's only two pages. Stupid videos with Spider Loc and 40 Glocc groupie arguments get 5 pages and more, just because the statements are so outrageous.

As Nima has said and others agree - any deprecation in the westcoast section is down to true and loyal forum members not posting as much as they could in threads that could be overshadowing poorer other topics...the amount of stuff that gets overlooked due to people not replying is immense and that is where the problem lies!

I get you, but you're kind of missing the point, all them dope artists mentioned in that thread should be across the board, not just in one topic from four months ago.
I'd like to enter the WC forum, with talk on Murs, updates on Clinton Wayne etc, I feel I would be wasting my time trying to get a topic off the ground in that forum nowadays, simply because the large population of that forum has no real interest in their music, and are more interested in drama of nobodies like Spider and co.
I'm here to talk and learn good music, that's why I find myself in Outbound.

I'm just as guilty of it as everybody else,
but we do a lot of complaining about how nobody is making quality music and let it go unnoticed when a great album is dropped. There was a lot of good music talked about in that thread, but it's only two pages.
Stupid videos with Spider Loc and 40 Glocc groupie arguments get 5 pages and more, just because the statements are so outrageous.
Sure itīs only two pages,but if you like I can go find other threads. :P
For EX. The Jacka,Rob Lo and their friends put out NON GENERIC top quality "gangster rap",
I think most people would be suprised if they checked them out,the list can go on. (and we all know it)

Personally, I haven't even discussed it because I haven't even heard the whole album yet, only the first 14 or 15 songs. Snoop's been on that pop/r&b and experimentation tip, it's not a surprise. I have heard better, I have heard worse. Either way, he is a premiere name that demands attention. The problem isn't that people talk about this, because it is a major topic, but it's that we ignore or miss good new information and music.
