My guess is it's a response to people using autoplay all the time. It never bothered me as long as it was in the g-spot. Killing the embed feature isn't the answer...

Well, actually, it is a working solution. It just might not be perfect though, because we will miss having direct access to videos in threads. How much trouble is it to just click a link though?

I def like the embed feature, in fact whenever I'd pop into a thread that somebody threw in a youtube link I'd usually embed it for them.

Is there no way to enable an embed function, but disable autoplay. I don't see what the problem with embedded videos would be if everyone could click play for themelves, the autoplay shit I don't mind being switched off at all though

So what's the trouble with everyone then... Autoplay becoming impossible, or embedding being disabled? I don't think embedding itself was a problem, but if the only way to get rid of the lame autoplaying is to totally disable embedding - just click the fucking link when someone posts it... Turning off the embed feature is seriously the most fucking retarded idea ever. Autoplay can be both funny and annoying at times, but just mute your shit for the 10 seconds you're in the thread. It's not that fucking hard.
And as far as I could tell, it was only happening in the G-Spot. It's not like any relevant topics were inundated with autoplay. G-Spot should be the most mod-free spot on this board.
This is purely a bitch move by doggystylin - it's made the forum worse and it's all because of some gay beef he has w/ kain.

People may or may not have watched it (I agree with you on how people might not feel challenged to click these youtube links all the time), but to blame that for the discussion that followed, is absolutely way off. That's what happens in any thread which Job enters: it ends in a whimsical hatefest.

Well if Doggy actually did his job properly, he could delete / edit threads that quoted autoplay. What's the point of letting him be a mod if he's not going to do the job?
Removing the embed was completely stupid and not the answer. If people want to be annoying, they can find MANY other ways than autoplay. Kain could spam the shit out of every section on this board and you couldn't stop him because he can't be banned.
Again, it wasn't an epidemic and it wasn't like they were going into worthwhile discussions in other forum sections and completely ruining them. At least not that I can recall. It was relegated to random joke threads in the G-Spot which is exactly where it should be.
And now you've taken away a very useful feature of the board, thereby punishing the rest of us.
