Title: Young Buck - Straight Outta Cashville 2ND Best G-Unit Release?
Post by: Lunatic on April 20, 2008, 08:06:24 AM
I think it may be. I think "beg for mercy" is the greatest and this one competes with "grodt" for 2nd place

I'm a Soldier - 4.75/5 - LOVE 50s hook on this..everything is near perfect on this track
Do It Like Me - 3/5 - probably the weakest cut on the album
Let Me In - 4/5 - typical first single..good track though
Look At Me Now - 5/5 - probably the best song on the album..mr porter kills the hook and the lyrics are straight
Welcome To The South - 4.75/5 - as much as i hate him, lil flip killed his verse
Prices On My Head - 4/5 - nice beat and banks murders it!
Bonafide Hustler - 5/5 - great unit cut..yayo fucks up his verse, wow (great)
Shorty Wanna Ride - 3/5 - typical
Bang Bang - 4.75/5 - really grown on me
Thou Shall - 5/5 - great record
Black Gloves - 3.75/5 - not bad
Stomp - 5/5 - luda murdered his verse
Taking Hits - 3.5/5 - weaker cut
Walk With Me - 4.5/5 - stat quo was nice on this
DPG Unit - 4.5/5 - great unit/dpg cut

all in all i'd say the weak records are:

do it like me
shorty wanna ride
taking hits

there's also at least 3-4 weak cuts on grodt so its a close call (poor lil rich, blood hound, like my style, etc)

what do y'all think?

the beats were ill on all of the first solo albums. But buck is a better rapper. Banks was coming hard before he dropped his album, was disappointing. Banks was by far the best on the g-unit group album.

Do It Like Me is one of the strongest cuts IMO but still I agree on alot of the other tracks and that the album is one of the best from G-Unit..

Get Rich Or Die Trying is nr 1 for me, second Beg For Mercy and 3rd Str8 Outta Cashville!

Banks was ill as fuck back when they were doing those mixtapes... he's just not your solo-album type of nigga... cashville>hunger for more. it's not the 2nd best g-unit release, though, to me.

To me, it's the best G-Unit records album ever. Anything by Buck >>>>>> anything by 50 Cent.

Yeah Bucks album was hella dope. Get Rich Or Die Tryin was better though IMO. Shorty Wanna Ride Wit Me wasnt actually that bad. It was pretty catchy.

G-Unit used to be dope, the downfall started when Yayo released his album (wack as a muthafucka), "Straight Outta Cashville" & "Hunger For More" are both very good albums.

Dope thread.

But damn Luna you dont like "Do It Like Me" that song is fuckin crazy. That beat is a crazy cruising beat in the summer LOL. It sounds real similar to C-Bo's "Getcha Mind Right" song, check it out, http://www.zshare.net/audio/108565602cc682e7/. These typa beats sounds like some Scarface (the movie) type beats that were on there LOL!!!

1. Documentary
2. GRODT
3. Str8 Outta Cashville
4. Buck The World
5. Beg For Mercy
6. Hunger For More
7. GRODT SDTK
8. Massacre

Those are it for me. Number 1 being the dopest. FUCK the rest lol!!!

1. GRODT
1a. Documentary
3. Beg For Mercy
4. Hunger For More
5. Massacre
5. Straight Outta Ca$hville

with 5 & 6 being interchangable.

I downloaded the instrumentals to The Massacre the other day and i realised that there are some really dope beats on that album. I only liked the Dre and Hi-Tek tracks on Beg For Mercy. Mobb Deep didn't feel very Mobb Deep. The soundtrack was very hit and miss and the rest just sucked. You can hate me all you want for saying this but i'm considering which album is last. I think Yayo had some good beats on his album whereas Banks album has got no replay value at all to me.

Beats don't make an album though.

Off of the rappers ability to ride a beat and turn it into something better than it already was, I'd rate.

1) GRODT
2) THFM
3) SOC
4) TD
5) BFM
6) BTW
7) C
8) TM
9) GRODTS
10) TOAPF
11) BM
12) RA

The things that hinder The Documentary's classic status:

Game's lyrics were not well-rounded.

He was offbeat alot.

GRODT remedied those problems.

PLus Docoumentary followed the blueprint for GRODT, it was like a westcoast version of GRODT. That's why I consider Get Rich to be more original and innovative.

1-documentary/grodt = best releases off gunit...production was more complete on documentary...it was a more complete sound from the same blueprint which GRODT used and since it was more westcoast the beats sounded more dre-ish...more clean....but on the mic 50 was ahead of game at the point in there careers, grodt was a finished article 50 spittin pretty much whereas documentary was a new nigga just starting in game...

2 - Straight outta cashville....shiiit if i bumped this now, there are still some real heaters to this day on this album, buck was real hungry, had less of a budget than 50 and banks but released the best solo on gunit records alone to this day....game was aftermath/gunit...50 was aftermath/shady/gunit

3..beg for mercy/grodt ost...both were decent...had bangers mixed with fillers

rest pretty much garbage/wack shit imo
