Title: when rappers get too controversial
Post by: Don Mega on July 25, 2002, 11:36:02 AM
Sometimes i think rappers go way outta line with their lyrics. I am talking about lyrics that lack so much respect for other people/events that it almost sickening and not even dope. Imma list a few lines and i wanna see yall come with some examples of lyrics that you find outta line

Biggie:
"blow up like the world trade"
For me this is a total lack of respect for the people that died during the bombing of one of the towers... dope thought of but way outta line

Chino XL:
"Yous a walking dead man like makaveli"
This could be a diss and a tribute. But i still see it as being too disrespectful towards the dead. Chino also said something about "speechless like the DOC" now thats not cool. And the list goes on with chino... thats the main reason i dislike him.

Eminem:
I dont have any specific lyrics but any song where he uses the daughter "97 bonnie & clyde" and "my dads gone crazy" to get at the mom is a little outta hand, i mean hailie doesn't know what she's doing and she's gonna regret it when she grows up.

post yours

You are really sensitive.  That shit isn't that bad.  You should of used Eminem's Columbine refrences.

Sick sick dreams of picnic scenes, two kids, sixteen
with M-16's and ten clips each
And them shits reach through six kids each
And Slim gets blamed in Bill Clint's speech to fix these streets?
Fuck That! You faggots can vanish to volcanic ash
and re-appear in hell with a can of gas, And a match
Aftermath, Dre, grab the gat, show 'em where it's at

I take seven kids from Columbine, stand 'em all in line
Add an AK-47, a revolver, a nine
a Mack-11 and it oughta solve the problem of mine
and that's a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time

I was going to say that too, but then I remembered he just didn't make that up.  The WTC was bombed in the parking garage around 1994 if I'm not mistaken.  He was talking about that incident.

Your trippin, Biggie sayin "blow up like tha world trade" n chino sayin "speechless like the DOC", damn man look at that, those lines r ILL, a part of being a lyricst is to use metaphores.  Just cuz they say shit like dat, does'nt mean chinos dissing n disrespecting D.O.C....Its creativity, lyricsm, hating rappers cuz they say shit like that is stupid in my opinion...

yea, w0rd
I got the explicit version of that LP, and EVEN THAT ONE is censored where he says Columbine and another word.
I guess his lawyers removed it not to get sued the fuck out of.
He would have gotten 30 lawsuits against him once it was released.

i guess your right about the biggie line. But i still think that chino xl has alot of disrespect when busting lines like that, wouldn't u say that his lyrics about O.J's (i think) son are disrespectful?

A line I despise is DMX's rape line in "X-Is Coming".........that kinda left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I despise rapists.

Y'all is takin' shit way too seriously.

"What's going on in the world today?
People fighting, feuding, looting, it's ok
Let it go, let it flow,
Let the good times roll,
Tell 'em Dre:

It ain't nuttin' but music!"
