One of hip hop’s best and most revered groups has put their differences aside and reunited. That’s right, the word is that Q-Tip, Phife and Ali Shaheed Muhammad are A Tribe Called Quest once again. The group disbanded in 1998 after their fifth album and both Tip and Phife did their solo thing. Now let’s get another classic...

they must be too concerned with nas to post on some real shit...

Thats sum greatt newsss
-
dope, glad to see it
-
They said they were getting back together for a track on Phife's new joint, on Phife's website a while ago, i got mixed feelings about a full album reunion though.

Great news

Okay, first of all A Tribe Called Quest is my fav. group ever. However, I just don't see them putting out something with the magic of Midnight Marauders. Those three should just lock themselves in some studio for a year and see what they come out with. Jay Dee is a dope producer, but don't get him involved with the project. The chemistry between these three back in thier glory days was unreal and their 3 classics were the result.
The wait is on.

This is really good news. This is the type of thing hip-hop needs to see right now, instead of everyone splitting up and going their seperate ways they should be coming together and making dope music. This should bring the best out in Q too, alot of shit has happened since their split too so the lyrical content should be interesting.

My heart lept when I saw this thread! It's great news, but like C2Knuckles said, it's debatable if they could mean as much as they did way back when.
Beats Rhymes & Life was an OK album, but The Love Movement did nothing for me.
As for Q Tip's solo shit...well, "shit" really is the operative word there.
BUT, if the guys can put anything together nearly so warm, classy and - well - HIP HOP as Midnight Marauders, one of my all time favourite albums, we're all in for a treat.

;D...man this iz good news
"Tribe Called Quest Represent Represent- sent -sent"

As long as it ain't like Q-Tip's shit it's all good.

Rumors have been flying for weeks about a possible A Tribe Called Quest reunion album. Some hip-hop websites even claimed several songs have been completed for a forthcoming LP.
Last weekend, Q-Tip aka Kamaal broke down the situation with ATCQ on New York's WBAI 99.5 FM Underground Railroad show. "Unfortunately, I don't think so," Q-Tip said of a reunion. "Um, we were talking for a minute about doing something...We started getting like, offers for shows. Like we got [an offer] to come to Japan to do one show for like, I don't know, $600,000 and L.A. for half a million and all this crazy, exuberant money."
Even with the large sums of cheddar, he said himself, Phife and Ali Shaheed Muhammad aren't likely to reunite right now. He cited, among other things, changes in the hip-hop landscape and each artist's individual work. "We, at this time, are not going to be able to do it," he said. "But who knows what's gonna happen, knowhutimean?"
He also said his Kamaal The Abstract project on Arista likely won't be dropping on that label, but a deal with DreamWorks is in the works. According to Q-Tip, the new deal will involve an entirely new recording.

After our announcement a few weeks ago that A Tribe Called Quest had reunited, it set off a virtual firestorm of activity and denials from Tip, Phife and Ali. A week ago Tip appeared on an Underground NY radio show and said that while the trio had discussed getting back together, he also denied that anything was imminent or that a reunion was likely. However, the information we originally received was very reliable and further substantiated by more individuals after our original announcement. We now hear that ATCQ members are trying there best to downplay the situation in case further communications between group members break down (as they have in the past). But also, keep in mind - a few years ago, when we broke the story of the group’s breakup a few weeks early, the rushed a press release to say that they were NOT breaking up, only to break up after promotion for The Love Movement was done, so callitwhatchawant…. While Q-Tip may be playing it coy in regard to ATCQ, unless another label steps up to the plate, his experimental solo-LP, Kamaal The Abstract, will remain one of those LP’s that Internet heads scour to burn and bootleggers rush to press, as Arista has scrapped plans to release the LP. Look for Tip to record an entirely new solo-LP with Dreamworks. Lastly, Tip recently recorded a track with the U.N. for there still as yet untitled debut.
