Title: Nas Kills The Speculation: It's Murder!
Post by: west_coast_rider on August 08, 2002, 11:50:14 AM
Nas hasn't been granting too many interviews lately to clear up questions about his association with Ja Rule, Irv Gotti and the Murder Inc. family, but the rap slugger has broken his silence through his music. On the remix to the Inc.'s "The Pledge," which has turned up on New York radio, Nas basically kills the speculation about whether he's signing to Murder Inc. and tells the world, "It's Murder!"

"In the beginning, it was me, Nas, I stood alone," his voice echoes at the beginning of the song with Ja Rule yelling, "It's Murder!" in the background. "But now ... Murder Inc. y'all. It's Murder. It's over now, you know that, right?"

Nas' verse then commences, and he raps about the "merger" of Ill Will Records and Murder Inc. over the same beat used in the original "The Pledge" (see "Irv Gotti Says Nas May Sign With Murder Inc."). "My cash make sex with your cash," Nas says on the track, "it can't hurt us." He later boasts that he has also realigned himself with his longtime advisor/manager Steve Stoute.

Ashanti sings the same chorus as on the original cut, with Nas ad-libbing, "It's no me y'all ... I.N.C. ... Murder Inc."

Ja Rule then comes in to add his vocals to the song's second verse, but not before he gives a shout-out to Suge Knight. Ja then paints a scenario of riding with Tupac if the late, great veteran were alive. Although he doesn't mention any names, Ja goes on to verbally assail an unnamed victim that some have inferred to be DMX: "Bitch dog/ Get, at me dog / Rule n---a the boss/ You always been a pup/ Now ain't it a pity/ That you running to I.G./ Dying to be me" (see "DMX Barks At Ja Rule For Biting, Plans Dis Track").

A recording of Tupac's voice ends the song, with the hip-hop legend saying, "I shall not fear no man but God/ Though I walk through the valley of death." "The Pledge" uses the same sample Pac used for "So Many Tears."

A spokesperson for the Inc. did not know where the song would wind up. Likewise, a spokesperson for Nas said details concerning the song are not yet available.

Nas must be one of the dumbest  rappers, I lost all my respect for him. A real hypocrite, first he dissed their label and now he signed to them. And Ja rule dissin DMX is the funniest thing i heard today.

"Dying to be me" lol wtf... I hope X will eat him alive

First off, Im not one of those who said Kurupts move was ok, it was wrong and messed up what he did, but he didnt do it to make some easy cash, he did it for his family and he really needed that money or else he'd b in jail right now. But Nas is a commercial rapper and has the money, he can sell a shitload of his albums without those fags at Murder INC. Thats the difference, Nas doesnt need no paper, he could do it without them, but Kurupt couldnt cause Suge paid him the 2 mill

This is probably off the wall...

BUT...

Didn't somebody say a while back that Snoop was gonna diss murder inc? And in one of those Doggystyle allstars tracks didn't somebody say they saw a diss twards murder inc?

Dosent Ja-rule give a shout out to suge in this track and diss a DOGG?

Holla back... I dunno if the pieces fit..

Ok

I got the song....

Listen to this:
"Im talkin if he was here we'd probably right together (he's talking about pac) on this trick-ass ni**a with curls bitch dogg, get at me dogg, rule ni**a the boss..."

last time I checked, DMX didn't have curls.

True dat, I can't imagine Nas on Irv Gotti beats  :(

He can't diss Jay Z again after this.
If Jay Z should have done a similar move, then he should sign with Nelly  ::)

Ehh, did someone say Fuck Nas yet?
And as far as I can remember 85% of the people didn't like Ja Rule doing a song with Snoop.
And being on <ONE> (Well, NONE actually) song is a little different than actually SIGNING with the label where Ja Rule is the headliner.

*Heartbreaking*

I just got to say that I believe the man when he was dissing Def Jam, and the establishment that was holding down real hip-hop. I believed the man was doing good, talking about KRS like a respect vet, talking about hip-hop block parties, now this. Fucken hypocrite. It isn't a matter of music, Tha Row can have 3 straight 5 mic albums, but if you a bitch, then you get treated like a bitch, and all that matters to me is if you are telling the truth. Fuck the Eastcoast right now, the only way real hip-hop will comeback is if the West puts it back on with Xzibit, Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, Ras Kass, Dr. Dre with Rakim, hell even DPG with Daz, Snoop and them, and for sure, The Whole Damn Yay (I mean Bay too, not just the group) making real music and putting that to for front. Nas sold out, but all that means is one less fake ass bitch repressing hip-hop. It was almost better if Jigga had ended Nas, 'cause at least we knew were Jigga at, Nas turned his back on us quick.

Ive never treaded NAS as this naturally established hiphop Masaiah (even tho he came in '94 wit the trully amazing Illmatic ). Ive always thought that this whole business of presenting NAS as some kinda hiphop saviour, lately, was as fake as it may get. It was a desperate cry from heads who looked for someone to gloryfy-and who was better for the job than  mr. Illmatic who was once crowned and credited as one of the best lyricists ever.
I want yall peepz to get something right, NO tha fact he joined Murder inc as it is- doesn't disturb me(no metter how wack they are known to come), we just all know it is probablly going to effect his music...as long as he was sticking to his hiphop savior- political-knowledge spitten persona(no metter how fabricated, fake and full of contradictions it was-) we had a chance to see him more focused lyriclly and structurewise than throughout the majority of his releases throughout his career, but now he has probably comeeted one of the bigest mistakes he ever made- he contradicted the Basis to his whole fabricated, self created  image of "NAS"<<This is prolly going to turn out to be LETHAL.
Title: ...but what about KRS-One's plan?
Post by: HairWuzEre on August 12, 2002, 02:32:13 PM
I'm not too bothered by Nas teaming up with Murder Inc., and I'll still keep on buying his records (as long as there aren't any Ja Rule, Ashanti, etc. collaborations), but what really bothers me is how Nas was supposedly meeting with KRS-One and a bunch of other real heads to plan a way to destroy Nelly (and all of the other fake rappers).

Oh, well. It was a nice thought while it lasted. . .

Nas with Murder Inc.?

What are these people thinking???  I just now started to like Nas after hearing "Stillmatic".  I can't imagine him rapping over Irv Gotti's wack beats.

/me shakes is head in COMPLETE dissapointment

This is the worst news this year. Remember that line y'all, "....It's Always Forward I'm Moving, Never Backwards, Stupid...", well to me it looks like he's moving backwards right now, backwards to the times of "Nastradamus"  :P. I don't blame anyone for calling him out to be a hyporcrit now, this is one senseless move for him. What about the concept and message of "One Mic", and other songs on "Stillmatic", and all the revolutionary like things he was saying about the current state of hip-hop, and now he's bragging about making more money, what an ass. He's gonna need to step up his game again to impress his real fans and keep them true to him. I can't believe this. I just hope he stays away from Irv Gotti's recycled jacked beats and has minus appearences from the other artists on Murder Inc (which looks doubtful after this track).
Oh well, guess i'll just have to wait and let the music speak for itself before I make a solid judgement. I hope he knows what he's doing.......

Lol, it REALLY is. I've calmed down a bit now but I still think he's an ass for what he's doing (or going to do). I've supported him for so many years, through the good and bad times but i'd never of thought it would get to this. Like I said, it's like he's going backwards.
