Wooptywoop!

I've only heard the first half of that DJ Strong version. That was mad generic and I think his official album will suck if it's anything like this. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong when I shall listen to the whole thing :)

Damn, this is the first time in my leecher days, that an album got leaked sooner and then the artists said "don't worry the final tracklisting is different" and actually wasn't bullshiting  :pimp:

I'm downloading it right now, it's just a shame It Hurts ain't on it, maybe Eddie or Nima can ask Bishop if he would be kind enough to hook it up CDQ/no DJ.

nice props guys. this is the best bishop mixtape so far. really flows like a proper album 8) production is on point all the way.

still dissapointed not to hear bishop on any proper dre beats though, i've definitely heard him on enough focus/khalil/nottz beats for now. the last track is badly mixed (vocals are waaaay too loud) and if GOD is Dre then its dissapointing considering his involvement. shame cause lyrically bishop is all over that track.

This shit is fire! I know it has been said for his other mixtapes that they flow like an album but this one really does. Awsome production, many of the songs sound like they were made for the LP but didn't make the cut. Gonna drop a lil track by track review when I bump it for a while.

It's a shame that last track ain't mixed proper and that It Hurts ain't on it.

Props to Dubcnn as always  8)

Shit, the production is so tight I can't even pick a favorite beat. Got that Aftermath sound to it, just throw in some Dre, Hi-Tek and J.R. and you get the full team.

Yeah well if Bishop Lamont wants his breakthrough then what other way than club songs?

if anyone remembers a while back bishop said his favourite track he had recorded for the lp was called africa. obviously not gonna be on the album now its popped up here. the tracks that stand out for me on the mixtape are 'africa' and 'donkey kong savage'. aside from that the storch one is a decent smooth track and warren g sounds great on gorilla pimpin.

this might be cynical now but i think i'd rather not hear anything from dr dre instead of crappy leftovers or unmixed/unfinished tracks. 'oh my god' might be alright but it sounds way too much like 50's candy shop. i'm a bit worried that tracks like that have been considered for actual singles at some stage - i anticipate what they eventually put out to be way fresher and original than candy shop part 2...

and dre-day yeah 'the greatest trick' isn't that great imho, whatever way you look at it. beat sounds unfinished, not particulaly crisp, nothing very exciting going on in it. there are way better beats on the mixtape. donkey kong savage is a killer cut - bishops flows are bananas and danja is crazy as always 8)

Wow, The Confessional is off the chain! It was definitely worth the wait to hear all the tracks untagged and in their full length. I feel The Confessional and Pope Mobile are his best projects out so far. On Confessional, "Africa", "Donkey Kong Savage", "Gorilla Pimpin' 5008", "City Lights", "One Night", "Ghetto Song", "The Greatest Trick", "Right" and "All On My Dick" are my favorites on it. I can't wait to hear the next project Bishop will have out next. 8)

Not surprised Oh My God is Dr.Dre it sounds like he just took an element from Candy Shop/Over Here and put it on the mixtape. That other Mr. Porter and Dre track again sounds like Porter did all the work, Dre might have added that guitar riff, shame it sounds very unmixed, you gotta have some good headphones to hear it. But then again this is only a mixtape and like a naive sucker I always expect album stuff from Dre when I read the credits  :P

Word, Bishop should put out both these without DJ Whoo Kid.

There's no way "Oh my god" is a solo Dre-production, might be a Dre/Storch collabo though.
You got all the usual Storch-effects even the lil intro, but the bass might be too hard to be Storch..

And possibly edit out DJ Whoo Kid from "It hurts" & "Oh my god".. ??  :P

I think that track is another one from Dre's archives, similar to what Bishop did for the Pope Mobile intro. Drums and instruments sound like Dre from around the 02-04 era.

the production credits were looking good and i expected good album. well... it turned out to be as always. khalil, bizness and scott storch did some impresive shit but the rest is not what i expected. bishop was always not my favorite mc by the way. i downloaded his mixtapes looking for good production and again it's average. jake one did bad, the same with nottz who is one of my favorite beat makers and focus. nothing much going on in most of the beats.

based on first impression of this, its pretty dope for a mixtape...

production wise i would say this ranges from a few real dope dope joints....to mostly average and some wack....which is totally expected from a mixtape....I think there are some real standouts on this and pope mobile in terms of potential album material joints....BUT overall im glad that most this shit did NOT make the album...

Having all this shit on here makes me have more faith in dre in terms of what album dre will drop in bishop in terms of production...i dunno about how bishop will come ofcourse but in terms of production im glad dre is making sure half this shit dont touch the allbum because some of the beats aint really all that...

What i thought was bangin was AFRICA...DONKEY KONG and i thought the last joint...'the greatest trick' was pretty dope...nothing amazing beat wise but it was just a nice joint...

Anyway i agree with a cat like dills....overall the production was average at best, i know cats like khalil and nott can come wayy better....

who dissapoints me the most is focus, i made a post on this nigga a long ass time ago about how much potential he had and then he dropped 'feel on it' by bishop and instrumental wise the beat was heated and i was hoping he would move on from there but this niggas drum patterns have to be the cheapest in the game right now. I feel he has no bass at all in his beats and i could make a more 'high budget' sounded drum pattern with snapping my fingers...seriously, im a big fan of this nigga but he needs to work onhis drum patterns and get his 'focus' back. I used to clown eminem a long ass time ago for havin terrible drum patterns but that cat stepped his drum pattern game up but this focus really needs to work on that...sad to say cuz i always thought this nigga was sick!

Anyway this is my first impressionso dont y'all get hurt...but i dunno...i'm glad theres goin to be ALOT OF DRE on his actual album if this is the type of beats he gon be gettin for his actual album...because id rather have dre workin with the sound atleast makin sure its professional and bangs than some average/amatuer shit on the albumm....

and no i dont have way to high expectations...BUT i expect heat from bishops album because its comin with detox so obviously loads of work will be put into the album...right now if dre gets the production of refirmation better than documentary id be delighted...infact even its close to that level id be happy but i hope it dont sound like the average shit on here....

Anyway there is some dope shit on here dont get me wrong but right now the ones im diggin more than anything are africa and donkey kong...they just instantly are friendly to my ears...and storch is obviously a professional dude so his shit always sounds clean...

i think the stand out joints between the 4 mixtapes so far could make to be one SICK mixtape...lol...

but i guess i cant really complain too much, all original music...all free...who does that all the time?...

props and i still look forward to the album ;-)

OK, I have to give this a try. I downloaded the leak and was unimpressed, but I see there are some new tracks here, plus the untagged element is an attraction and from memory the sequencing is different. Props DubCNN.

:D who knows, not really the type of beat you would expect Dre to submit to Rakim

then again, he was also featured on Addictive (ok that wasn't a Dr.Dre production but you get the point right) :P

Yeah, I thought it'd make sense because Dre wanted Rakim to go in a direction he didn't want to...

I agree with pretty much all of the below as far as the Confessional -

based on first impression of this, its pretty dope for a mixtape...

production wise i would say this ranges from a few real dope dope joints....to mostly average and some wack....which is totally expected from a mixtape....I think there are some real standouts on this and pope mobile in terms of potential album material joints....BUT overall im glad that most this shit did NOT make the album...

Exactyly man! Play it from start to finish, don't skip anything and pay attention. Turn it up and enjoy. If you just pick and choose, and not really fuck with it, you aint gonna like it. You gotta listen to Bishop properly in order to get the full effect outta him. Anyways, amazing fuckin tape that i've been waitin for. Thanks DubCNN!

I listened to the whole thing today. I'm not so sure I'm listening to the same mixtape as the rest in here. Bishop Lamont has become a boring rapper. Standout tracks: "Can't Figure It Out", "Africa" and "Gorilla Pimpin". Maybe it'll be better on the 2nd listen.

I'm a big fan of Bishop and usually I have to spin every song of him at least a few times to let it grow on me, but this streetalbum is awesome. All the songs are more than dope to me.

I'll be listening to this alot the upcoming time.

after one listen, this shit is fuckin dope

LOL at the intro :D

Africa is a bangin ass track..this beat is unreal..gorilla pimpin 5008 is exactly that, some dope on futuristic shit..send a n home is UNREAL, i swear khalil is a beast on these boards, wow..city lights may be my fav track on da whole tape, unreal..once again khalil, wow

ghetto song is da first i wasnt really feelin..maybe it'll grow on me..what people do was another weak cut imo..one night is cool, def some album material..right is bangnin, storch did his thing..be cool is one of da most lyrical tracks i've heard in a while, wish bishop spit on it though

better than you is alright, nothing special at all..kissin tha curb is UNREAL, hope 'reformation' has a collabo with busta, this is cd material..the name is a weak cut, first rapper is weird as fuck..everyday is dope, i love when bishop gets deep like that (no homo)..

cant figure it out is yet another khalil laced classic ass joint..donkey kong savage is nice, danja does different type of beats for bishop it seems..why u wanna piss me off is kinda weak, man nottz sucked on this album..all on my dick is alright, pretty good

the greatest trick is hot..not good enough for a "dre beat" still a good track, so i could care less

overall another bangin ass tape from bishop ofcourse, 4 weak cuts, that aint bad at all - bumpin this one all day long fa sho!

No matter who produced it, The Greatest Trick is a dope beat, just needs to me mixed properly and it would be bangin'.

i think it's good that you didn't calculate the average of all the track ratings put together, but used different method for the overall rating.

I can't fuckin'understand what y'all ain't likin' about Ghetto Song.I love that shit.Nottz and his finest with a beat that sounds simple, but it actually isn't at all

City Lights is dope, Donkey Kong, Gorrilla Pimpin' is a heater and The Greatest Trick surprised the hell out of me.It's the best beat I;ve heard from Dre in quite a while (acually since Big Bang only Image has been dope to me, not that the others are bad, I just didn;t like them).I really like the orchestra voices in the backgrond, and you get how ill the instrumental is in the last 10-20 seonds of the track.I bet it would've sounded veven better with some proper mixing.I give credit for the beat to mr. Porter too

Title: My little review of The Confessional
Post by: Dre-Day on June 12, 2008, 10:39:10 AM
my review:

1 -

2 Africa – i like the unique vibe ; Bishop's flow is great on this (I like the echo too)  :)
It's just that the beat is a bit repetitive to me  :-\ I wish that the producer had added a few minor elements  :P

6.5/10

3 Gorilla Pimpin' 5008 -  updated: the song has grown on me  :) i'm glad that Bishop's flow doesn't sound lazy, unlike on the OG version (by the way, lol at the dog metaphor )  ;)
and Stat Quo did a good job too, as this is one of his few performances that doesn't annoy me  ;)
but Busta's performance was the best of all  ;) nice wordplay too  ;)

7/10

4 Send A Nigga Home - damn  :o  this song has a catchy sound :) 8) not to mention that it has a dope hook  :)

8/10

5 City Lights -  I like the rock-ish sound; it's really a shame that Bishop's flow sounds a bit lazy on this  >:(

7/10

6 Ghetto Song -  nice smooth song  :)

7/10

7 What people do - dope melody; though the frequent use of the voice same voice sample ruined it a bit for me  :P

6.5/10

8 One Night - this song is not for me, it's too smooth/ R&B-ish.  :-X

5/10

9 Right -  pretty much the same goes for this one; besides, the beat is repetitive  :-\

4.5/10

10 Be Cool -  I like the raw sound  8); it's good to hear X on this, his verse is nice :), just like Rass’.
the beat is a little bit repetitive though  :P

7/10

11 Better than you - I really like this song, really melodic  8) also I love the drum sound  :) ; I think this is Focus’ best production so far ;)
by the way, lol at the huge amount of sarcasm in this song  :P

8/10

12 Kissin tha curb -  the track is alright  ;) looks like Busta Rhymes is back into ADHD mode
Bishop Lamont sounds lazy at times though  :-\

7/10

13 The Name - this song is decent at best for now; it might grow on me later  :P

6/10

14 Everyday -  updated: well i'm not feeling this one anymore; it's too smooth  :-\
dope hook and wordplay in general though.

5/10

15 Can't figure it out -  the production fits the lyrics perfectly; though the tweaked voice samples are annoying IMO :-X, perhaps it would have been better for the vibe of the song, to have a non-sampled hook  ;)
Anyway I don't like the vibe at all; don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful song, I just can't stand its sadness type of vibe  :loopaper:

3/10

16 Donky Kong Savage - like this song  :) the beat has a dope melody  ;)
Bishop's flow is dope, just like the hook  ;)

7.5/10

17 Why U Wanna Piss Me Off - updated: the beat has become acceptable to me  ;)
the hook doesn't really bother me anymore either; lol at bishop playing the clown in his lyrics by the way  ;)

6.5/10

18 All on my Dick - the beat is repetitive, so I skipped the song after a while   bishop sounds lazy as hell by the way  :-\

5/10

19 The Greatest Trick -  I love the beat, it has such a dope vibe, i like the different elements ( notice the vocals in the background), especially during the chorus; Mr.Porter & GOD definitely did a good job!
Makes me wonder what you guys have in stall for Detox  8) :raisetheroof:
and fuck all that bullshit about Dre supposedly falling off  :psych:

anyway, Bishop's flow is good on this; I like the hook too  :)

8.5/10

20 2 much godfather - updated: i'm getting tired of these smooth/R&B-ish songs   :-X

4/10

21 It hurts - This track really has that aftermath vibe (I'm not talking about the label).
i love the elements played during the chorus.
also, it's dope how bishop switches up his flow  :)

8/10

22 Oh My God - hehehe, this club song is clearly not for me   ;)
It's not as bad as Candy shop & how we do it over here though.

5/10

Verdict

this street album is quite consistent(i think it's better than a couple of regular aftermath/shady/g-unit 'regular' albums); i think it's put together a lot better than the previous ones ( mainly the pope mobile  :P). Dre did not executive produce this, but he might have helped picking the producers.

it's good to see that bishop's flow has really progressed; he ain't there yet, but the frequency of the "lazy" sounding flow popping up, is a lot lower than on Bishop's older street albums.

since The Confessional is supposed to be the closest representation of the Reformation yet, i think it's safe to say that it will only get better with The Reformation, as the best material has yet to drop ( not to mention that GOD is all over that album  ;D )  :) 8)

overall rating: 7/10

^^ not a bad review...

Africa and Donkey kong have the best instrumentals imo and bishops flow on donkey kong is easily the best imo...if he could spit like that abit more alot of ppl outside dre dickriders would feel him imo and on africa he showed he can work with a beat and be innovative with a beat...something that needs to be done in order to make hits and he should work on doi more creeative shit like that more often...africa actually sounds like something dre would do back in the day when he was still makin fire for joke...

As for the last joint...the greatest trick or watever its called....the hook is nice and the beat is 'ok' at best imo....as for 'dre falling off etc...if his beats are anything like this for detox, it will be easily the worst shit he has ever dropped...but i already know without hearing the album that dres album will be nothing like the sound of this joint...just from following his career

it's an important factor, cause if i'm not feeling it, then there isn't much possible for me to save a track ( no matter how dope the verse, flow, hook or whatever is).

then again, i didn't comment on everything, that's why the overall rating is not the average of the track ratings put together.

besides,i think it's really hard for me to describe the feelings/thoughts i get when listening to a track.

As for the last joint...the greatest trick or watever its called....the hook is nice and the beat is 'ok' at best imo....as for 'dre falling off etc...if his beats are anything like this for detox, it will be easily the worst shit he has ever dropped...but i already know without hearing the album that dres album will be nothing like the sound of this joint...just from following his career

pz

thanks  :)

well i think we disagree about the production of The Greatest Trick then.

by the way, (to avoid confusion; so i'm not saying that you thought that i said the following-->) i wasn't saying that i thought that The Greatest Trick was an indication of the Detox sound at all.

i was just saying that, this street album track already sounds dope to me, so i wondered what i would think of the production of Detox  ;) 8)

Bishop usually uses the most average beats though. I find alot of his songs boring. But shit like Africa wit a crazy ass beat and Bishop changed his flow are mad dope.

Was that 2 Much Godfather joint on the unauthorized bootleg intended for The Reformation? It was the hottest song on that version.

First of all I would like to thank The Crip for remastiring this, sounds way better now (and of course thanks to Dubcnn for the original hook up). Here's my quick little review, before I start let me just mention that I'll only rate the production and his flow, since the lyrics are always on point. And when I talk about production, I talk from the aspect of this being a mixtape, so I expect nothing but leftovers and unfinished beats.

Intro - don't rate intro's

Africa - really dope, unique track from the production to Bishop's flow and the concept itself. I remember Bishop saying this was on The Reformation, you can tell that this is an album cut. 4/5

Pimpin 5008 - production is nice with that Aftermath sound but it sounds unfinished, like some elements would've been added if this was on the album. I love the part when the piano kicks in the chours. Bishop has a faster flow and not that lazy one he uses sometimes. Cool track overall. Oh and Busta schooled them all, OG. 3,5/5

Send A Nigga Home - craaaaaaaaaazy beat. Just imagine if this was mixed and mastered by Dre, dear Lord. Mr.Porter usually has annoying hooks but this one is fly. This really sounds like a cut that was considered for the Reformation, like Dre was involved in coaching Bishop. Just the way he flows and emphasizes some words. 5/5

City Lights - simillar beat to the Jim Jone's one, little bit better. Like the chours, they sound like Linkin Park. Bishop's flow is too lazy though, expected more energy from him, considering the chours. 3/5

Ghetto Song - clearly a leftover Nottz beat, again sounds unfinished. Bishop's flow is again too lazy, can't complain about the lyrics and storytelling though, he paints a nice picture. 3/5

What People Do - Cinematic intro and I absolutley love when the sample kicks in. Much better Nottz beat, again with some proper Dre mixing this would be banging. Bishop again stepped it up flow wise, great track. 4,5/5

One Night - Bishop has a tendecy too talk about pussy and bitches too much but this track is better. Sounds simillar to that Get Right Back from Scarface OG, some nice storytelling again. Not just "I fucked her and her" but more of a grown up vibe. Smooth chours. 3,5/5

Right Now - another clear leftover beat. Storch and Bishop make a good combo, probably because he picks different type of beats from him than the others (the tracks on Pope Mobile were great). Very simillar to the previous track, like this one better, has better production. 4/5

Be Cool - Xzibit killed it  :o X is definetly one of the best, I miss his music. The other aslo did their thing, nice posse cut. 4/5

Better Than You - "tough guy" sort of track, some big egos  :P He reminds of 50 Cent a lot on this track. One of the better Focus beats I've heard. 4/5

Kissing The Curb - Great track. From Jake One's classy eastcoast production (sounds Wu-Tang-ish) to Busta's chours and Bishop's rhymes. If tracks like this are on mixtapes, I wonder what type of crazy will we get from those 2 on the album. 5/5

The Name - cheap production from Focus, weak drums like somebody else said before. Altough I like those violins. Average track 3/5

Everyday - hype production, same sample as that new Usher/Jay track. Bishop sounds focused, sharp flow, nice message on the track. Good chours, sounds l50 Cent-ish 4,5/5

Can't Figure It Out - seriously, Khalil is by far the best producer right now. He should use piano more often and that sample on the chours is crazy, makes me wanna cry. Bishop sounds emotional, he should do more tracks like this (just like I Always Knew on Pope Mobile). Khalil for president! 5/5

Donkey Kong Savage - who would have thought this was Danja ? Sounds like a Storch & Dre production. Bishop went nuts on this one, killed it. Again, a good structured chours, nice horns in the chours too. 5/5

Why U Wanna - the piano on the chours is buckwild but it's a shame it's ruined by Bishop's awful chours. Some funny punchlines on this one, simillar to Rapper Wanna Sing on Pope Mobile, shows a more funny side of him. 4/5

On My Dick - Bishop sounded lazy at first but then picked it up in the end. Chours is awsome (who is that btw ?), cool track. Haven't heard a wack beat from Tha Bizness yet 3/5

Greates Trick - suppose to be Mr.Porter & Dre production, who knows. I figue Mr.Porter did all the work and Dre probably added the guitar riff. Dope concept from Bishop and the chours is once again very good. 4,5/5

Bonus

It Hurts: the production is unreal. That orchestra voice is exactly how I picture Detox sounding, great piano loop too. I still think Dre had something to do with it but Dready Beatz should co-produce for Detox that's for sure. IMO this is first single material, can't believe this is "only" on a mixtape, they're crazy. I want the full and no DJ version  :'( 5/5

Oh My God -  Candy Shop/Over Her leftover, nothing special, laughed couple times though, chours is annoying 3/5

Heres my take on all of it, keep in mind, Nigger Noize was like one of my favorite discs ever, so i don't see Bishop ever topping that, maybe not even with The Reformation. Still though, it's pretty much impossible for Bish to drop a disc that's not straight fire. Everything he's ever done since Nigger Noize has been crazy shit. It's just that he set the bar so fuckin high with Nigger Noize, i don't see him ever topping that with any other street album. I don't know why, i just love that crazy fuckin KKK sound to all of it. But fuck that, let's move onto this shit right here. I been waitin on this for months, now finally i got my hands on it. Imma review this shit:

First off, i'm really into that cover. The stained glass n shit, it looks sick. Stands out amongst all those other typical horseshit covers. But don't judge a book by the muthafuckin cover, so fuck that. Let smove to those tracks:

1. Confessional (Intro)
Fuck intros, but if i had to make a comment, this intro is pretty waack. He just talkin to the preist bout dumb shit, pretty boring. I know it directly relates to the mixtape, but still, seemed a little outta place.

n/a

2. Africa
So here it is, the so called "favorite" track of Bishop that was supposed to be one of the real bangers on the Reformation. If this is what the Reformation is gon be like then shit, i gotta say, i'm disapointed. The beat is aight but it gets pretty fuckin boring after a while, and is really nothing special at all considering it was his favorite. Now, Bishop's flow on this isn't that nice. He just uses his typical up n down style approach to the song which doesn't really do it for me. And that hook, i'm not feelin that either. I see a lotta people like this track though, so whatever i guess. Not everyones cup of tea. But ya, this for me is not Reformation material so it's good that they've taken it off. Make room for the best shit.

6/10

3. Gorilla Pimpin' 5008
First off, why the fuck it called 5008 instead of 2008? Well who cares, fuck that, now onto the song. Aiight song, once again though, nothing special. The beats in n out, pretty dope, but still not anything up there. The features are alright, Busta does his thing. Nothing really more to say other than it's a pretty average soundin Bishop track. I will say though, that organ/violen sound does take it's place in this song. The hook is as it should be, nothin too much. Still, with these softer tracks, they don't really do it too high for me.

7/10

4. Send A Nigga Home
At this point i'm thinkin we just gonna see another Pope Mobile type disc with nothin huge on it, nothin really standin out, but this track proves my ass wrong. It has that real Dre, Aftermath sound to it. Really sounds like a Dre song right here, has that feel to it. Wasn't feelin the drums too much though (this comin from a drummer right here, so i'm a little more picky on that shit). Bishop comes to town on this with the flow/lyrics here. The hook is a nice one too, not fallin off. This one of them joints that you bump so fuckin much, then get sick of in a week, but then bump again next week n its good as fuckin new. Sick track.

8/10

5. City Lights
I don't really know what this was all about. This just seemed to come out of nowhere with that hook in there. Seemed a bit too out of place on this disc. Bishop's flow isn't really anythin on this either. Nothin bad, but nothin good. The beat isn't bad, it's pretty tight, but that hook/chorus/flow just doesn't do it for me. But hey, whats this Jim Jones track everybodys yappin bout, i must be the only one who aint heard that shit yet. Anyways:

6.5/10

6. Ghetto Song
First off, he jackin this name off that track he did on Nigger Noize, n u dont fuck with Nigger Noize. Now, this track, another non-special, non-standount track on terms of flow. I was feelin that beat though, NICE flute up in that shit. Drums were aiight, they fit in. Loved that flute though, was Dre-like. The hook was nice, whoever she is, it was short but nice. Still though, Bish's flow on this was just too slow/boring for me. Other than that it was nice.

6.5/10

7. What People Do
Is it just me or is that sample annyoying as fuck. And that dude on the hook is fuckin ridiculous. C'mon now, that sample mixed with that wack fool on the hook was a no-no for me. That being said, the beat is nice. A nice Bishop beat right here, he can tear these ones up. Not anything special like most the others so far, but also like the others, nothing close to bad. Bish's flow on this is nice. N i think thats cuz the beat. He's good on these type of drum flowin beats, he goes well with it. Although lyrically, he does nothing much, it was a nice track aside from the dumb hook.

6.5/10

8. One Night
Weakest track on the disc right here by far (not that its a bad thing though). Its not the fact that it was too soft, its just that we've heard this typa shit time n time again. The lyrics/flow is nice, but like i said, we've seen this a lot from Bishop n other rappers. The beat is aiight, nothin special (i know, i said that shit like 500 times, but thats what comes to my head with a lot of this shit so far). I like the guitar part though, that stands nice. Hook isn't that good, coulda been better.

5.5/10

9. Right
Shit, this was unexpectedly good. After hearin on most of you not likin it, i actually really like this one. The beat is straight up chillin, that "right, right" sample fits in perfectly. The hook is pretty much on point, although (once again) nothin special and we've heard lots of these hooks from Bish before, but hey, thats his thing. He flows on it nice, but the same ol lyrics outta him. I liked it though, it all went together. MAD chills trak.

7/10

10. Be Cool
Hands down, the most in-yo-fuckin-face-bitch song right here. I've heard it a billion times and it just wont get old. PLAY THIS SHIT IN YOUR MUFUCKIN CAR! Its crazy shit in a car. Ya, them Xzibit/Kass parts murder this fuckin track. Bish dont even gotta be on it, its raw as fuck, that beat = RAW! Straight up drums in this shit. Need MORE of these drums in songs!!! The open high hats n shit, its crazy. Nice bass too. Nothing bad to say bout this track. At first a wasn't feelin it, but now im fuckin all over this shit. But like i said, Xzibit & Ras kill it. The others aren't bad, but Xzibit n Ras Kass just fuck with these beats like mad. Crazy track. N a nice outro on it from Bish, he puts them bitches away. You SHOULDA got Crookeds ass on this!

9/10

11. Better Than You
One point to this song you need to know...Bishop's better than you! That's pretty much the point to this whole song, but it works though. Beat is nice, and once again, them straight up drums in there! Luvin those! Nice flow, aiight hook. Nice track, but nothing amazing.

7.5/10

12. Kissin Tha Curb
Shiiittttt, Busta wreked this shit. Off the bat, you KNOW this is Aftermath in the fuckin house with some raw ass beat like that. Another Dre sounding beat, but you know it that Aftermath shit. Sick flow from Bishop, nice lyrics, nice hook from Busta. Good shit, n i liked that kissin tha curb sample (even though i usually hate samples).

8/10

13. The Name
I gotta be honest, i fuckin hate dirty birdy. He has that E-40 flow n i gotta say, its not my thing. Too out there for me. That being said, the beats aiight, better than average. The guitar is nice. Focus is nice with them strings. Them other guys are aiight, none standing out, but none bad. Could have been better if it was just Bishop.

6.5/10

14. Everyday
Nice track. This one means something! Good lyrics in this shit, great flow. Beat is one of them in n out beats, but a good one at that. Good shit, nothin amazing, but good shit. Hook aint much, but its aiight considerin Bish did it. Not a lot more to say bout shi track.

7/10

15.  Can't Figure It Out
This is one of them like-it-or-not tracks. You do or you dont. I happen to fall into the "do" section. Bishop has them deep lyrics, which rappers need to go somewhere. The beat has them nice keys on the piano n that nice trumpet in the background. The hook is nice, i liked it. I little slow, but still you need them slow beats. Can't just stick to the same shit over n over agiain. I liked this one.

7.5/10

16. Donkey Kong Savage
Shiit, them keys on that piano be goin apeshit on this one. Nothin to complain about on this song. It's a good one, nice flow, aiight hook. Another track that you can't really say much about, but a nice one.

7.5/10

17. Why U Wanna Piss Me Off
Eh, this was a real hit or miss track. The beat was nice, nothin too much, the hook wasn't much, not that bad. Bish's flow was a bit lazy, same ol shit. This track wasn't bad though like a lotta peeps sayin. Thats all.

6/10

18. All On My Dick
Wasn't feelin the hook in this one, but the flow was pretty good. The beat was pretty average. Nothin special, not much to say.

6.5/10

19. The Greatest Trick
Let me just say this: It would have been so much better if it was just fuckin mixed better! Also, this really aint much of a Dre beat...it can't be. He must have had very little to do with it...it's nothing you would expect from the GOD himself. Not bad, just not much for a Dre beat. Bishop flows on it, but that hook, wasn't feelin it. Needs to be fuckin mixed better! Ey, the lyrics are NICE in this one though. Bish returns to his political roots with this and really goes hard with the words here.

6.5/10

LEFT OVERS

20. It Hurts
What the FUCK?!?! This beat is FUCKED! Seriously, this is some mufuckn Detox shit right here. This is what i think of when i think Detox. Man, the beat is just so advanced, i never seen shit like that synthesizer sound before. Crazy beat...but what about the flow??? It's nice. The hook, nice. Sick track, but needs a 3rd verse and WHY wasn't it on the fuckin Official copy!?!? The flow/hooks are right on, but this is some real Reformation shit right here man, purely for that beat!!! I wouldn't go as far as saying Detox, but it's up there. Its just so advanced man, sheeeet.

9/10

21. 2 Much Godfather
Don't know what the title has to do with the song, but it's aiight. Beats pretty dope...nice chillout shit. Flow isn't that good though. Bish just goes on with his typical flow. Nothing bad, hooks aiight. A little to R&B, but nice track, not bad.

7/10

22. Oh My God!!!
So this supposed to be that Dre track? Once again, def nothing special. Sounds like some MAD 50 Cent GRODT shit right here. Was for sure not made for Bishop, instead he musta just copped it. Flow is aiight, hook mediocre.

6.5/10

23. Get Right Back
Where the fuck was this?!? Wasn't on either copy! It was good enough to at least replace one of them earlier tracks. Nice beat, the samples aiight i guess. Nice flow from Bish here. The hook is pretty good with the beat. Still don't know why they didn't put this shit on it.

7/10

OVERALL, this thing was the fuckin shit. I don't care if most songs are 6s n 7s, its still a crazy "mixtape". All tracks make up for one powerful ass disc. It just goes from start to finish, n u gon be like...shit that was dope. This aint one of them "every track is good" discs but its more of a "crazy disc from start to finish, but not all tracks are bomb" disc. BUMP THIS SHIT IN YOUR CAR! Its a real banger n cars n shit. This is some CD material shit right here, n if you aint feelin Bishop, you really aint feelin rap (no offense, but i find it hard to not like the guy, he's fuckin fire man). Once again my favorites were Be Cool and It Hurts. Them 2 are just fuckin illlllll. Thanks for readin. Peace!

8/10

nice job on the reviews people  :) really honest and detailed  8)

Better Than You - "tough guy" sort of track, some big egos  :P He reminds of 50 Cent a lot on this track. One of the better Focus beats I've heard. 4/5

haha, i can see why you had that impression  :D

but unlike 50 cent, i don't think Bishop is arrogant, he's just often being sarcastic, and has so many subliminal messages  :P ;)

by the way, are you going to come up with a conclusion later?

Ok, here's a quick recap just for you:

Overall I'd give it a 4/5 (too lazy to calculate all those ratings). Like I've said before, I've rated it from the aspect of a mixtape, hoping to find some album material on it. And I did. Send A Nigga Home, What People Do, Right, Kissin The Curb, Everyday, Can't Figure It Out, Donkey Kong Savage and possibly The Greatest Trick are all album worthy and of course It Hurts, which we now found out was planned for the album (hope it still makes it). The other tracks were good too, just felt unfinished from either production or Bishop's lazy flow. And his flow is the only thing that still remains a question mark, when he's focused he sounds great but when he's not he's like a westcoast version of 50 Cent. I still think that Pope Mobile was the best representation of what the Reformation is gonna sound like, it ahd that Aftermath feel to it. Now I'm patiently waiting for the suppose leak of Grown Up.

lol thanks  ;)

your review looks complete now  ;)

i think it's good that you didn't calculate the average rating; i think the way you rated it is more accurate.

anyway, so we're on the same page when it comes to bishop's flow  ;)

i can't figure it out why he sounds lazy at times; didn't he get enough guidance or?  :-\

I still think that Pope Mobile was the best representation of what the Reformation is gonna sound like, it ahd that Aftermath feel to it

interesting; you reviewed the pope mobile too right?

i'll check that review later to get a better understanding of your quote  ;)

my review:
You basically judge those songs by it's beats?  ???

it's an important factor, cause if i'm not feeling it, then there isn't much possible for me to save a track ( no matter how dope the verse, flow, hook or whatever is).

then again, i didn't comment on everything, that's why the overall rating is not the average of the track ratings put together.

besides,i think it's really hard for me to describe the feelings/thoughts i get when listening to a track.

well i think we disagree about the production of The Greatest Trick then.

by the way, (to avoid confusion; so i'm not saying that you thought that i said the following-->) i wasn't saying that i thought that The Greatest Trick was an indication of the Detox sound at all.

i was just saying that, this street album track already sounds dope to me, so i wondered what i would think of the production of Detox  ;) 8)

fair enough

I think bishop has 3 fan bases right now....the ones who followed him from the start, the ones who joined in just because he is signed with dre...and SOME who started to like him after hearin hs music recently...

I think its natural for an average music fan to feel someone even if they aint good simply because they are signed to someone they love...in this case dre...and no i aint sayin bishop is not a good rapper...im just speakin in general...

Then there are people like me who check his music because of his affiliation with dre but are still on the fence in terms of how good he really is...I really do not think bishops buzz is big at all right now outside aftermath fans but i think that can improve hugely after his debut single if its heated.

As for do i think dre has falled off? Without doubt, dre aint been the dre who made every other producers shit look like a level below his music for 3 years now...Im a huge dre fan but im not one who can not be critical of him too, i never cling on someones nuts...i've been highly critical of alot of people but i too have faith. Unlike some people who believe dre has fallen off period, i think he will come back with heat.  I think a good indicator of this is when bishop said that 'i dominate' is 4th single material...meaning that since that was made dre has been stepping his own game up alot because he mst have alot better shit now if 'i dominate' went from 1st to 4th single material.

As for the last comment about detox will easily be his worst shit ever if the greatest trick joint is an indication of how the album will sound, thats really self explanatory if one has heard his two previous joints as im sure nearly everyone in here has.

Then there are people like me who check his music because of his affiliation with dre but are still on the fence in terms of how good he really is...I really do not think bishops buzz is big at all right now outside aftermath fans but i think that can improve hugely after his debut single if its heated.
perhaps you should have posted this the first time, as you pretty much got rid of the generaliation, from your old post.

again, i don't see why it's so obvious.

you need to come with better arguments, otherwise it's pointless to defend such a statement in the first place.

-how do you know that it's a common thought that, Detox would be wack, if the production of "The Greatest Trick" was an indictator of the "sound" of Detox; did you do thorough research?

Dre needs better beats, better lyrics and better songs and album cohesion to top his first two albums....greatest trick is on a mixtape for a reason...because its simplu not good enough for album material and should not be anywhere near detox in my opinion.

i got this thought that as soon as we hear bishop over some actual recent produced dre tracks things will fall into place. to me the most banging beat dre has put out in the last few years is outta control remix he did for 50. that track was ridicolous. pretty much everything else has been poor or just average to me.

people were loving the tracks on the busta cd but they didn't do much for me - outta control rmx is the best dre beat since in da club, no actually the best track he's done since 2001. its the only track where his new mixing/drums have combined with that classic dre bounce and a heavy bassline. if thats an old track then hopefully his new stuff is on another level. its just the busta project that makes me doubt - that was a dissapointment from dre. that 'get me some' track was experimental and everyone was loving it but i didn't like it because it didn't have that bounce - 0 funk appeal or bassline. not what i want to hear from dre.

in conclusion, i hope bishop gets on a track thats better than outta control rmx, then he'll be laughing.

OK, the last track isn't produced by Dre, it's co-produced by GOD, as in the actual God, the man upstairs, that gave them the inspiration to do the song.

Dude you lack such basic intelligence to understand the concept of the most simple thngs...its quite funny actually. You go around asking questions which there aint nuttin wrong with but the amount of stupid shit/groupie shit you be asking is quite funny.

First of all....As i said...i didnt say it was a fact...you asked me a question and i answered....how you percieve my answer the question makes no difference because it was my answer.

Next...my reasons for thinking why detox would not be anywhere near level of greatest trick are quite clear and well thought out and very simple to understand for a hiphop fans.

As for for whether you asked if greatest trick was detox material or not, i never said you did..infact i know  you did not ask if it is detox material but you asked why it would be obvious if detox would be wack if that joint was an indication of how detox would be like..which i did answer and again, simple logic for my answers...you walking into dead ends son...like i said you make to many stupid comments...And yes u hav just as much
right as anyone else in here to post your shit, just don't expect to recieve any respect for your garbage.

As for the 'my arguements are pretty simple for those with a good mind' statement...again you lack any true intelligence to understand such a comment. Any academic cat or intelligent cat will tell you that the best arguements are the most simple ones but the most simple ones are the hardest to make...and the most simple ones are understood by those with a good/intelligent head...why? Well those which come across as 'simplistic' really have many flaws in them therefore it takes one with a good mind to understand a true simple arguement which is easy to understand but doesnt have many flaws if any.

I could go schooling you all day kid, but its pretty obvious your dicks pretty stuck up on dre by the sounds of things so imma stay hiphop talking back n forth from now on with those who understand the music and culture much better than yourself.

Yeah I notice that with his mixtapes. N*gger Noize for me being one of the few from him that I actually digged the 1st listen.

I bumped the shit outta this record the last days, so hereīs a little review by myself  8)

Overall, itīs a really good street-album with some strong cuts. My favs are Africa (love the synthiesound on this one), Can't Figure It Out (DAMN  :o one of the best shit I heard from Bishop until now, love the catchy production and chorus, and Bishop is on some deep shit), Gorilla Pimpin' 5008 (just a dope joint, good to hear the G-Child spitting on this), Donky Kong Savage (Bishop flows like a monster on this), Be Cool (X and Ras straight killed that shit  :o) and Ghetto Song (nice beat and hook, Bishop also is very good on this). Other songs I feel are City Light and One Night, even if this is very RnBīish, but you never really go wrong with that type of tracks IMO. Donīt really feel Better Than You, Everyday and The Name. Nice filler material, nothing I save on my PC. A lil bit disappointed of The Greatest Trick, I mean GOD was working on the beat ;) Serious, really like the guitar-sample on this and Bishop was dropping some nice rhymes. Like I said before, a really nice street-album, with good beats(Khalil did a great job on his productions), nice features and a constantly good Bishop. But I slowly start getting tired of Bishopīs "lazy/boring" flow, he use on a lot of songs. Hope he will change this in the future. But damn, I really appreciate that he gave his fans all this nice street-records. Looking forward to the next projects,  but itīs time slowly at the time for "The Reformation" ;)

Would rate it with a 7/10.

Copped this recently.

Tracks to look out for:

Africa
Gorilla Pimpin 5008 (Beat is sick and Warren G wreks it. Kmon)
What people do (ridiculous weaving of chorus and lyrics)
Can't figure it out (raps/chrous)
Donkey Kong Savage (Bish tears it up)
The Greatest Trick (ONLY ON HEADPHONES)

Overall album: 7

It's good, but there's too many to pass up on.  Need a LITTLE cleaner rhymes and noteworthy beats to be a classic...although this is my 1st post.  WTF do I know?  8)

Overall conclusion;
It's a pretty solid album,but the ones I deleted just ain't my style.  :P
I kept 13 out 21. One of them is the intro,so I wont count that one.
Overall rating:
3.5/5

http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=183424.msg1876330#msg1876330
Verdict

this street album is quite consistent(i think it's better than a couple of regular aftermath/shady/g-unit 'regular' albums); i think it's put together a lot better than the previous ones ( mainly the pope mobile  :P).

Peace!

8/10

GOD=Dr.Dre?

All that The Greatest Trick/Dr.Dre/Detox material talk is pointless because;
OK, the last track isn't produced by Dre, it's co-produced by GOD, as in the actual God, the man upstairs,
that gave them the inspiration to do the song.

 :P
It could be that Bishop/aftermath staff is just pulling Eddie's/our leg.
But for now we got to take their word for it.

so until Mr.Porter denies that Dre co-produced The Greatest Trick, i'm going to stick with my vision.
