Nas was supposed to headline Summer Jam concert in New York hosted by Hot 97 radio. Well, Hot 97 told Nas right before the show that he couldnt perform Ether...so Nas left Summer Jam and went on 105.1 radio in New York and hes dissing the shit out of Jay Z, Hot 97, Funkmaster Flex, Angie Martinez
He was on the Steph Lova show and Flava Flav rolled thru too

Let's take a look at "Nastradamus" or Jay-Z's "Vol. 2" Both were wack albums. But Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Eminem, Puff Daddy etc. didn't run to the radio stations to proclaim it. Do you think a casual rapper would have publicly called these album wack when he didn't know the artists themselves?
Not that their personal relationship matters, it's still a diss.. Let's say Dr. Dre, or some no-name rapper did. They would be dissing Jay-Z and Nas. Understand? My point is, Nas was dissing Angie Martinez.

Listen up muthafucka. I dunno why Hot 97 refused to play "Ether", it may have been wrong and unfair to Nas, but I don't really care, it's none of my buisness. I don't live in the US, so I don't really care if radio stations there play songs by my fav. artists. All I care about is the music.

I'm listening to the interview right now, and what he said about Martinez was indirect, he said he doesn't want to hear disk jockeys making whack records, which is obviously aimed at her. And also to anyone who hasn't listened (props for the link KuRuPtion) directly to the interview yet do so, Nas speaks the truth, about hip-hop, about the whole Jay/Nas beef and Hot 97's connection with it, it's a really good listen.

That's not the point man, like he said in the interview they've let people perform diss songs for years at the Summer Jam but when it comes to his that happens to be aimed at their precious Jay-Z they won't allow it. Not only is that hypocritical but it's trying to dumb down hip-hop in it's purest form because hip-hop is all about freedom of speech and hip-hop has always thrived on lyrical battles.

Yeah, Nas has released wack material, but the points he made were all valid. He seems to being trying to take it back to his essence, and take it back to making good hip-hop. we'll see on that point i guess... but hot 97 has been lame for years, ever since flex got big and their status got up, they got gassed... they play favorites, and get paid to play Def Jam shit aka Jigga, so why not diss them? as for Angie Martinez, dissing someone who goes out and makes an LP acting as if she is an artist is a lot different from dissing someone who's not in the game. Cam'ron's shit was weak, Nastradamus weak. Nore.. well i've never been a fan of his, and his lyrics are usually pretty lame. basically Hot 97 has been shiesty and Nas called them on it, nothing wrong with that. It'd be nice if hip-hop radio could get some of its integrity back.
