Title: Donell Jones
Post by: =[Euthanasia]= on June 23, 2002, 01:42:46 AM
Anyone know the name of the song he's done, it samples the beat to Biggie's "Dead Wrong" and it goes something like, "she wants to tell the world she's been fucking me". It's dope as hell, he uses the sample brilliantly. I'm not a huge Donell fan but I did cop his sophmore album, mainly because of "You Know Whats Up" Ft Left Eye which is a really dope song, still sounds as fresh today as it did then, the rest of the album was aight, a few fillers here and there, "Shorty" was prolly the next best track. His new album sounds like it could be dope though, I heard 2 tracks from it yesterday on the radio 1 rap show. Anyone got his new album? If you do are there any good guest appearences or anything?

My sister got this the week it came out, and from what I've heard it's pretty tight. I really enjoyed a lot of the 'Where I Wanna Be' album, and it doesn't hit me quite as immediately as that did, but it's still a lot better than most R&B out there at the moment.

I can't remember a track sampling 'Dead Wrong', but as far as a general recommendation goes, if you're into the more mature sounding R&B (Donell reminds me a lot of Joe in that polished kinda way) then Donell's probably the man. But really, if you're looking for some slick R&B to just chill to, I gotta say that any of Joe's last three albums are out of this world.

Sounds interesting. I never heard of the song before.

It must be a remix or something, it's dope as hell too. Tim Westwood has been playing it for about 2 weeks now but until I heard it again last week I forgot all about it. No doubt he'll be playing it during this weeks show so i'll have to listen out better for the title. Thanks for the mini review of his new album too, Lord_Funk  :)
