I dont know how too use fruity loops properly myself, and I still make beats...what i do is just go too "Piano Roll" and select drums, make a drum loop on it, and add insturments...id probably be much better if I actually knew how too use it properly...But oh well...Ive asked Phiasko, Rap Quake, and everyone else, they just couldnt help me...PeaCe

well i can give you some tips, theres no real "way" of making hip hop beats, thats where the creative part comes in, but here's some tips...

DONT USE THE PIANO ROLL (lol sorry sccit, use the drop down piano, it's way better and easier to use)

TURN THE TEMPO BETWEEN 85-100 (96 is an average hip hop beat tempo)

DRUMS ARE REALLY IMPORTANT, BASICALLY THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOST TYPES OF MUSICS IS THE DRUMS. ILL TELL YOU A BASIC HIP-HOP PATTER FOR DRUMS AND THEN YOU CAN PLAY WITH IT... OKAY PICTURE THE SIXTEEN LITTLE RECTANGLES, NOW THEY'RE DIVIDED INTO FOURS, THATS WHY THERES FOUR COUNTS. NOW A BASIC HIP HOP PATTER WOULD BE MAKING THE HI HAT HIT ON EVERY OTHER LITTLE RECTANGLE (EVERY ODD RECTANGLE E.G. 1ST, 3RD, 5TH, ETC.)... THE KICK SHOULD HIT ONCE ON THE 1ST, 8TH, 9TH, AND 11TH RECTANGLE, THEN THE SNARE SHOULD HIT ON THE 5TH AND 13TH RECTANGLE

THE NEXT ESSENTIAL TO HIP HOP IS THE BASS, I MEAN YOU CAN BASICALLY HAVE A HIP HOP TRACK WITH JUST BASS AND DRUMS, BUT USUALLY YOU WANNA TAKE IT FURTHER THAN THAT AND ADD MELODIES AND INSTRUMENTS OR SAMPLES.

THEN YOU SHOULD LAY OUT THE SEQUENCE IN BARS, INTRO... VERSE.... CHORUS... VERSE... CHORUS... VERSE... CHORUS... OUTRO <<< or something like that, always make the CHORUS do something different then the verse part, or just throw in more instruments during the chorus.
