Title: DUBCNN: Exclusive Interview With Six2 aka Mr. TwoFace!
Post by: Chad on August 06, 2008, 05:28:59 AM
(http://www.dubcnn.com/interviews/six2/six2.jpg)

Dubcnn had the great opportunity to sit down with Mr. TwoFace himself, Six2. With show-stealing features on Dr. Dre’s 2001 album, Six2 instantly became a hit with his laid-back, southern flow over the good doctor’s xxplosive beats. Then he undoubtedly took control on the D.O.C.’s Deuce album by ripping apart tracks produced by Dr. Dre, Erotic D, Jazze Pha and others. After a weathering a storm, Six2 came back and co-wrote Wait A Minute, the first single for the Pussycat Dolls, as well as writing for Timbaland’s Shock Value album on songs like Regular featuring Justin Timberlake and Bounce featuring Dr. Dre & Missy Elliott.

For the first time, Six2 talks with Dubcnn writer Chad Kiser aka Noncentz about working with Dr. Dre, why we haven’t seen a Six2 solo album, working on Deuce & 2001, his relationship with D.O.C., and what projects he has coming, like the Southern Hydro project with Big Mike!

For all you Six2 fans out there, we have an exclusive track for download today. The track is called What Would You Do, and it’s produced by none other than Erotic D. I won’t spoil the surprise with too much info, but let’s just say that Six2 flows very nicely over a familiar track, which was replayed, not sampled, by Erotic D.

As always, we encourage you to drop your feedback and comments in the forums or by e-mailing feedback and comments to chad@dubcnn.com.

Stay tuned to Dubcnn for all the latest news and updates on Six2 and the DFW!

Dubcnn: Do you have any unused beats from Dre or from that Deuce/2001 era that you haven’t used?

Yeah, I have some that Doc brought me that he said Dre was going to use for the Detox, and one from either the Busta Rhymes or Snoop albums. That song, “That’s That Sh-t”, Doc brought me the beat and said Dre was going to use it for Detox, but he wanted to see if I’d write a 16 and then Snoop was supposed to be on it. But when I heard the beat again, it was Snoop and R. Kelly.
Hmmmm..what is DOC playing at??..That is a Nottz Beat, Detox Material??..DOC..Oh DOC.. :grumpy: :grumpy:

Dubcnn: I did an interview with DOC a while back and he was saying that Deuce was supposed to be your solo album, but things didn’t work out. Can you elaborate on that?

Yeah, like you said it was supposed to be my solo album so I don’t know why he put his face on it *laughs* That kind of ran me hot. After the tour, I had missed like two cities, and Dre was like go ahead and turn yourself in that way they won’t come and get you off stage. I’m thinking while I was in there Doc was going to keep my spot for a solo album, but then Doc put it out with most of the songs on there.

Quote
Dubcnn: Looking back on that what are you thoughts now on that Deuce album.

It should have been promoted better than it was and I feel like a lot of bad moves were made as far as the people Doc had in control of it. They didn’t have enough experience. Dre wanted to put the album out! But at the time Doc’s greed messed up a lot of opportunities for people, just by being greedy. Sony ended up getting that record and he ended up being in the hole! That’s why I am glad he didn’t put my name on it like that. Because I would’ve been extra hot if it would have been my album, then he fumbled the ball and I’m in the hole with these motherf-ckers.

this is another example of why DOC's a snake; Ruthless anyone???  :grumpy:

Quote
Dubcnn: You were talking about the Timbaland project, what happened to that project.

Well, he called me down to Miami where he was working on a solo album. After he started working with me it turned from a solo album to a group album. It was me, Timbaland, Attitude, John Doe, and Ms Carrie. We did a gang of songs with him. Then when he got his deal back with Interscope or whoever, it went from the group project to his solo. A lot of those songs we did for him, he used those to get the deal back, and then used other sh-t we wasn’t on. I’d say 70% of the album my vocals was on. Me and Attitude co-wrote Timbaland’s parts. Then after he got the deal, he put out Nelly Furtado album and we were like what the hell happened to our sh-t?

While we were working on his sh-t, he said he wanted to do a solo album on me, so I started working on my sh-t at the same time working on his sh-t. To be real, I don’t think he had any intentions of doing our shit. I might be wrong, but the way things turned out, I doubt it. I wrote a song that he ended up selling to the Pussycat Dolls and I didn’t hear anything about it until it was time for them to start shooting the video. So, now I had to fight to get my percentage of that song. I got like three songs that are on the Timbaland project. There is one with him and Justin Timberlake called “Release” that I did get credit for and then I co-wrote a song called “Bounce” with him, Dre and Missy Elliott. I also co-wrote a song with him and Magoo called “Board Meeting”. A lot of the songs on there I had parts on but when I started fighting for my percentages on the Pussycat Dolls he started taking me off songs I guess because he was mad I was asking for my money.

well it's sad for six-2 how the situation with Timbaland turned out, but i'm not interested in the music that Timbaland makes, so i'm glad that Six-2's back with Erotic  :)

Quote
Dubcnn: Do you have any mixtapes in the works?

I had one called “Mac-A-Roni and G’s” that’s on CD Baby. I ain’t had any more of those pressed up, really.
that one is out for stock.

Quote
Dubcnn: What about Detox, can we look forward to seeing you on there

I been hearing that Dre wants me on there, but it’s the fact of going through Doc. So, I don’t know about that one. Him and Doc have a relationship where Dre don’t want to step on Doc’s toes, and Doc won’t just come out and tell Dre what’s up. That’s where they always bump heads at. A lot of songs they got on me, somebody put out a mix CD of the Detox album and it had like 3 songs that I did on there. So, I’m really just waiting to see if they are going to be for real.
i doubt Dre would let it depend on DOC's wishes, but if it's true, then Dre made a really bad choice  :-X

Quote
Dubcnn: That about does it, do you have anything that you want to say to the fans?

Yeah, watch out, your boy Six2 is coming! So watch out! I got the solo album I’m doing with Erotic. I got the group album coming out. I got a lil'’ surprise for the ladies. I’m trying to drop them like hot cakes!

The song that Chad Vader is asking about from the Deuce promo is called XXX Files. It was produced by Erotic D Looooong before he took 6'2 to DOC or Dre. That is how DOPE Erotic's music is! That's why everybody here loves everything he does. He can do a song and sit on it for YEARS and you wouldn't know it. I may sound a little biased. But talent is talent.

Another hit by NonCentz  ;)

Quote
Dubcnn: Was there ever a track called XXX-Files with you and Doc?

Yeah, it was supposed to be like a skit that I based on the school house rock.
I was doing it for fun just playing but cats started liking it.
I wasn't too thrilled about it, I was just in there playing. I might put it on something.

are you talking about the track from the Deuce promo?

I love that one,who did the beat?

Quote
Dubcnn: You were talking about the Timbaland project, what happened to that project.

Pussycat Dolls he started taking me off songs I guess because he was mad I was asking for my money.

Dubcnn: So do you still have any of these songs?

Yeah, I still have some that was supposed to be on his album and some that was from my solo.
One of them, “Mean Walk”, I think they put out with Whoo Kid on a mix CD, that was supposed to be my first lil' solo song.
There is the one song called “Lil Old Apartment” that was for Timbaland’s album, and one called “Let’s Get High”.
He didn’t use any of those. A lot of the songs I was going to put on something and just leak them to try and get the buzz back.

Not really a big fan of Timbo´s beats, but whatever pays your bills I guessit'so it´s sad to hear that he got fucked not only for money but for time he could have used to work on other shit. (time is money  ;) )
"Mean Walk" appears on this mixtape;

anyone got this track?

Quote
Dubcnn: Is there a full version of that song called “Last Call”?

Yeah, we are either going to put it on Erotic’s album or my solo.
A lot of people wanted to buy it, like Greg Street. What’s slowed a lot of sh-t down for me was I didn’t really have the right team of people to work with.
That’s how a lot of folks got my ideas, because a lot of stuff I hear out now got me in it, but they use they’re own lil' things in it. But I know my skeletons!

Ahhh, now I understand why you (NonCentz) was so hyped about the full version of the "Last Call" track (that Erotic posted on his myspace).  ;)
Speaking of Greg Street,there´s a extended/alternative version of "Simple As That" on;

I might post it later  ;)

Quote
Dubcnn: There is a spot on there where it slows down is it supposed to be like that?

Yeah, we kind of screwed it up a lil' bit to try and give it that lil' south side twang.
I have some songs I did with Dre, two of them,
and I have Timbaland on one and of course I got Erotic on 4 or 5, and I have one produced by Jazze Pha.

yeah,I always wondered about that too. Must say that was odd little thing coming from Dre :P
But shit sounds dope though  ;)

Quote
Dubcnn: For some of those that don’t know, tell me a lil' bit about that OG Gena Cide group.

The Gena Cide consists of me and El-Dog, the first album we put out was called “Waste Uva Cular” back in ’93-’94.
Then the second was called “Mixed Up Murder”. That’s before I hooked up with Dre or any of them.
I wasn’t really as serious as I'm now, I mean we were serious, but we didn’t have as much know-how as we do now.
When we started doing sh-t, Doc was trying to get me to go up and work with Dre and try to go over and work with Death Row,
but I felt like they were trying to split us up. But we have a new album that we should be dropping in August.

Death Row? that early?
Anyway,Genacide is dope. So do yourself a favor and pick up their albums  ;).

Quote
Dubcnn: What kind of features and production do you have on that?

With the production we’re mostly working with Erotic, but we’re trying to use a lot of cats that are down this way that need to be heard.
We got a track from Cutta, and one from E-Man.
With the features, we got tracks with Twisted Black and as a matter of fact, free Twisted Black!
Yeah, Six2 said that!
We are working with other artists like Awol, Maniac, Cube, Cadillac Seville, and that’s about it as far as the features on that one.

-AWOL? From Blac´ Monks?
-Cube? Ice Cube?

Quote
Dubcnn: Do you have any collabs coming up with Devin the Dude?

I got this one on the Southern Hydro album with me, Big Mike and Devin the Dude called ”Spread Yo’ Hustle”, it go hard, too!

Dubcnn: What about Pimp C? Did you ever work with him?

Yeah, I got this one that I did with me, Big Mike and Pimp C called “Up Close & Personal”,
and I wanted to take all the bread made from that and donate it to Pimp's family.
I got a problem with people who try to put out shit after people passed away to make money off them, that’s why I want to give it to his family.

Hey,wait... didn´t Warrior say that the "Southern Hydro" album got stolen and that they got to re-record the album?  :P

It's good to see you katz getting a better understanding on why DFW feels the way we do about DOC. His main issue is that he still wants to be the star. His favorite qoute is "n**ga if it wasn't for me" That's the main reason silverback folded. As a matter of fact DOC got into DFW last week. He was talking that same bull shit he been talking for years. I don't think anybody went near him, but I could be wrong.

Song # 10 is called Mass Confusion and that version was produced by Jazze Pha. There is a version that was produced by Erotic before that one. Not sure what they did with it. But i agree that Jazze Pha did a good job on that version as well. Hopefully one day the original version will surface. From what i understand, DOC started getting tracks from Jazze Pha when Erotic started refusing to work with him. That's why the Deuce record wasn't entirely produced by Erotic. They weren't seeing eye to eye on DOC's business decisions. I can only imagine what that album would've sounded like if they had managed to work out their differences.

Nothing surprises me about producers anymore...if Irv Gotti can produce a good song then anything is possible and these pop/south-producers must have made some actual quality material in some stage of their career.

That's why the Deuce record wasn't entirely produced by Erotic. They weren't seeing eye to eye on DOC's business decisions.
I can only imagine what that album would've sounded like if they had managed to work out their differences.

Again thanx for the info.... I would love to hear a full version of it.
It suprises me that Jazze Pha did that one, don't sound sound like him at all.  :P

^^^^^
yeah we need a full version.....surprised too that jazze did it.....i was sure it was a Dre beat  8)

Nothing surprises me about producers anymore...
if Irv Gotti can produce a good song then anything is possible and these pop/south-producers
must have made some actual quality material in some stage of their career.

It's not that,it's the style....
Jazze Pha has done a lot of dope shit. For ex. MC Breed and Too Short,a more "funky underground sound" or whatever you like to call it.  :P
Not the style you're usually hear from him these days (club).
But I've never heard Jazze bust "gangster beats" like this....

Great interview Noncentz again...!!!  8). Thanks man.

Good to hear from two face and after all the sh*t that has happened he doesn't sound too bitter about it. I really think in 1999/2000, he could have been a star and sold a lot of records. biggest shame from my perspective is that we missed out on a lot of dope music.

I totally understand why erotic and two face are looking to do their sh*t without doc and dre and wish them all the best with it and look forward to the music but it's sad that erotic can't repair that relationship becuase we need six deuce (and el dog for that matter) on detox!!!

what happened to doc is genuinely a tragedy. it's worth remembering that when his voice went it was just after his album came out and he was just becoming a superstar and suddenly became a bit of a nobody. that has to have a huge effect. without knowing anyone involved and just speculating i guess everything that has happened since has to be seen against that background.

if any of you cats got more questions for Six2 (part 2) hook me up with them...

i know you asked six2 about hittman in the first interview but i noticed on his myspace hitt is one of six2's friends (i know i sound like a stalker!). have they now recently been in contact? any chance of them working together. i would love to hear that!

There's no damage with the relationship of Six2, Erotic and Dre. The biggest issue is that D.O.C works extremely hard to stay in the gap between these guys and Dre for fear of getting left out this time around.  I know for a fact that if Dre said D.O.C lets get these katz up hear and do our thang. I'm a 100% sure they would be on the next plane. But they call would have to come from Dre,Jimmy or a shot caller from Aftermath. D.O.C word is Void and can't be trusted to do what's best for all involved.

great interview. kinda makes me angry dat doc n timbaland used him n played him like dat. didnt think d o c was like dat

-he talked shit about Eazy-E & Ruthless, to convince Dre to head over to the new label
-he stole music from Dre

You can't put the Ruthless situation strictly on him. Dre was gonna leave. He wasn't happy over there. Doc might have been one of the people who helped him come to that decision but he wasn't happy about the money he was making. Jerry Heller has even said that Dre was not making what he was worth at Ruthless.

i didn't say that, did i?

i was just saying that DOC was in Dre's ear.
and that DOC talked shit about Eazy-E and Ruthless Records in general, like:

Quote
ThaFormula.com - Now I wanna speak on a rumor that has been going around for years. Is it true that you sold your publishing for a...

D.O.C. - for a watch and a gold chain?

ThaFormula.com - Yeah, was that true?

D.O.C. - Sure it was. I mean I didn't know what I was doing. I was a fucking 19-year-old kid. I didn't know shit about no fucking publishing and this and that.

ThaFormula.com - Did you sell it to Eazy or Jerry?

D.O.C. - I sold it to Eazy.  He took advantage.

ThaFormula.com - Do you think that he did that, or do you think that Jerry Heller was behind that?

D.O.C. - Nah, I think Eazy did that.  Eazy was always a money-hungry muthafucka. Eazy was a greedy one, and I was a perfect match for him because I'm a giving person.  Money don't mean nothing to me because I make great music.  Its in my heart and you can't keep that shit down forever.  I kept saying to myself, one day it will be my turn.

anyway, yes Jerry Heller said that Dre may not have been paid for what his name was worth at the time, but that's a different statement than Dre made.

Yes. Those projects are coming thru Erotic. AFFILIATED is produced entirely by Erotic and THE WAKE UP is a bunch of songs Six2 did with Timberland and i think Erotic is just putting it on the street cus Six2 wants to. It WON'T be an official release from what i hear. It will be a "promotional" cd. AFFILIATED is done. Erotic says they are doing a photo shoot for the cover today and it should be released in a month or two thru ALL online  and traditional retailers. THAT'S what I want to hear! Peace fellas!

I spoke with E this morning. He told me to let you guys know that he has accounts with ALL of the online stores and THE BLACK BRUCE WILLIS is the first release. It has been submitted for upload but the digital distributors cannot give him a firm release date. They just say within the next 30 to 60 days. AFFILIATED will be submitted within the next 7 to 10 days. They are waiting on SIX-TWO to complete a photo shoot for the cover. E let me hear AFFILIATED!! WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! Can't even describe this album! It is definitely in it's own lane and only has 2 replays out of 15 cuts. SIX-TWO is INSANE on the mic!! He says that they will drop a follow up so fast it will fuck your head up. Didn't get too specific as to why, but he says that he couldnt mix some of the songs the way he would have liked because some masters were stolen from Erotic's studio while he was in jail on a probation violation. But it sounds GREAT to me!!!!!!!! He said the assholes that robbed his studio even took the gold and platinum plaques off the wall. E owns two or three other studios here. So that shouldn't slow him down. IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOOOOWN!!!! PEACE

Post by: Dre-Day on July 03, 2009, 11:00:59 AM
For all you Six2 fans out there, we have an exclusive track for download today. The track is called What Would You Do, and it’s produced by none other than Erotic D. I won’t spoil the surprise with too much info, but let’s just say that Six2 flows very nicely over a familiar track, which was replayed, not sampled, by Erotic D.

Six 2 What Would You Do (http://www.dubcnm.com/audio/2008/august/six_2-what_would_you_do-(dubcnn).mp3)
with all the MJ drama, it seems like a great moment to bump this topic.

Out of all the unreleased Aftermath affiliated projects this one was one of the best.  I still bump a lot of those joints he was doing when he was in camp with Dre and DOC... a lot of bangers...I'll have to check the song titles from Crips fanmade Aftermath 6'2" album but off the top of my head..

-That "South Is On Fire" joint with DOC and him tradin back and forth is a banger
-That chopped and screwed joint where the speed changes is hella hypnotic

Damn..lot of other joints I have to check the titles.  It's not to the degree of dissapointment I felt when King Tee's album not being released but still a Damn shame!
