Cube's was a little disapointing, wasn't as good as Guilty by Affiliation. "Smell my Finger" -Suga Free the best album I've heard this year.

u weren't feelin that Nas album Scrilla? seems to have way too low of a grade. Cubes album was cool, but most of the songs were like average 3.5/5 songs. there were a few standout tracks.

i think Game has put the best album out so far. but apprently Kanye & Chamillionaire are both saying there droppin in december, so it should be interesting.

Raw Footage was dope as fuck.

Jeezy's album was tight.

Dubb Union is a refreshing one.

Ego Trippin didn't have much staying power but it was dope.

Nas dropped a gem.

Suga Free put out a good record, and Daz did too.

Hell yeah - I've run out of credits on emusic.com so have to wait until the end of the week to get it, but it should be dope. You checked their first album ('Common Market')? It's superb. Sabzi's production is awesome - see the Blue Scholars album too, it's even better.

Ļ

but everybody know u a 50 stan..u said u was feelin TOS but not LAX when Bow Wows albums >>> TOS

and nobody called u a hater cuz of that u sensitive faggot ass bitch....the reason why they called u a hater is because of the fact that u HAD to compare G-Units album vs LAX for no reason
cuz u only wanted to start a stan vs haters thread.

G-Unit is G-Unit and Game is Game. Game left 3 years ago let it go.

personally I thought that Blue Carpet Treatment had more bangers on it and standout cuts, but Ego Trippin' was a more consistant album all the way through with it's sound... I agree about it being a love/hate album, but I thought it was dope, the only song I could not fuck with was "My Medicine" even though it was funny

I've not really been impressed by any albums this year, probably because I have only bought about 5 albums out this year and downloaded about 9. Reks' album is probably best with Termanology in 2nd. I wasn't overly impressed with the efforts from Nas or Bun B, 2 of my favourite artists. Both did have their moments. I have mostly been listening to old stuff this year, shit is so much better.

For me, being a Snoop fan since day one, it is a little too left field for him. And alot of the tracks have 0 replay value for me, which is rare for me as far as a Snoop album is concerned.

I haven't really liked much this year. Found most albums kinda boring or full of average tracks. LAX, Untitled and Raw Footage all had some dope tracks but were filled with mediocrity in between. I need to check Jeezy's album cause both Put On and My President were pretty good but knowing him the rest will be pure trash. Termanology one of my favs so far but even that doesn't compare to the best from last year or 2006. N*E*R*D*'s new album, Seeing Sounds, was real creative but the only two tracks i'm still spinning are Everybody Nose and Lasergun a UK bonus.

1. Nas - Untitled

IMO, this is the best Nas album since Stillmatic. No doubt about it. I could almost say that this was an 5/5 album... Pretty much the album of the year for me. I don't care what albums are gonna be released later this year. For me Nas = the best MC ever. The fact that he can drop an album which is atleast a near-classic 14 years after Illmatic... That's just unbelievable. Cube is another contender though..

2. The Game - L.A.X.

This was the album I expected the most this year... It was a good album and I got what I wanted. But still, with few different choices it could've been better. 4/5

3. Ice Cube - Raw Footage

I didn't expect this so much so it was almost a surprise that Cube made album this dope. It's equal with LAX & sometimes feels even better. 4/5.

Honorable mention to KRS-One's "Adventures In Emceein", the first half of the album was dope but the second half wasn't impressing at all. But suprisingly good album.

Elzhi - The Preface
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold
Nas - Untitled
Illa J - Yancey Boys

By the way Black Milk was a disappointment to me. I don't feel his new album, Popular Demand for life.

Kurupt & Roscoe - The Frank And Jess Story [2008]

it's banging!!!!!!!  8)
my fav track is "Lap Dance" - goddamn!!! I'm new Kurupt-fan!!!
8/10

also: Raw Footage, L.A.X.
but imho: Cube wit "Raw Footage" soundin' much better than Jayceon!!! I'm tired off "name-rhyming" and "Impala-64" word in every track. yea - Game is cool, but became boring as fuck with 3rd album!
in "The Documentary" - it was new & original  :D
in "The Doctor's Advocate" it was as a rule  ::)
but in "L.A.X." - it was boring as hell  :(
anyways: Thx to The Game for "Letter To The King", "Angel" tracks. they're best track's on album

Raw Footage: 9.5/10
L.A.X.: 6.5/10

I've never heard any of their shit.... I must say that their album covers sorta put me off  :P
Like this one;
I know that I shouldn't judge shit by the looks, but sorry I can't help it... :-\ shit looks a little too "white" for me,if you know what I mean?

Shit, that's a classic cover and the underground classic album of course! Cover matches the title! Would you create a nice cover for an album titled ''God Loves Ugly''? Every Atmosphere album bang as fuck, much better than 80% of today's hip hop shit. No studio gangsters shit, just a nice music and nice lyrics that you've never heard before. Try it.

First I don't mind "Studio Gangsters",it's not what you say,it's how you say say it....  ;)
Most if not all of the so called "real gangsters" can't rap for shit.... they can stick to what they do best; crime  :P and let the "studio gangsters" do their thing. (music)
If you're speaking "gangster pop",well... shit has been watered down...but there's still cats doing their thing.

Anyway,Atmosphere....
hmmm the first one;  Trying To Find A Balance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbEwHJX95QE) has a hella dope video... the music is too "alternative" and "white" for me.
The second You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8zwE3qkhTA)    wtf  :-X sorry... but the cat that direct their videos is hella tight, the finger board concept is tight.... love the way it narrates trough the scenes. Dope close upīs.
The third one Fuck You Lucy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlr1H_iV6qs)... this is a little better, actually sounds like something.
The beat and piano is tight. Not sure about his skills as a rapper or voice... but it ain't bad,I just need some time to rate his performance.

Thanks for the links though,at least now I know some what, what it sounds like  ;)

God Loves Ugly re-issue dropping January 20, 2009! ;-)

I wanted to cop it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Great news that they'll re-release it. So if somebody damned that album because of hard finding, go get that on 20th Jan.

Thanks for the links though,at least now I know somewhat, what it sounds like  ;)

What about these?

Atmosphere - The Arrival (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l2SgCkOLiU)
and
Atmosphere - Pour Me Another (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxyW_KXqNZ8)

He's always on point, I'm deep in this group, great music and great lyrics. I think you should give it some rotation.

-Atmosphere - The Arrival (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l2SgCkOLiU) The beat is alright,it's on some Hip Hop shit...it sounds live, the sound quality is ehhh  :P.... what I liked best about this track though is the outro, when the DJ cuts shit up.... and ends up the classic Bushwick Bill line from "Fuck EmīAll" (comes around 1.20) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbtJMP8wZhQ) from Geto Boys first album.

-Atmosphere - Pour Me Another (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxyW_KXqNZ8) it sounds alright, but damn the sound quality is really on some bootleg shit.

BTW. this is too white too? (go on 2:15)
Hell Razah - Renaissance Director's Cut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv5xav2vnwk)
RA would murder anybody.

-Hell Razah - Renaissance Director's Cut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv5xav2vnwk) Nah,this is some real shit....
yeah he got skills, tight rhyme but I didn't like his slurring flow.... so for me this cat is better off as songwriter, because there's no doubt that verse was tight.  ;)
When I say "white",I clearly don't mean color... but I assume you got that already, since you asked me about this cat  ;)

What's wrong with the quality?

I can barely hear the vocals.... after around 3;30 (I believe),when the breakdown comes and goes into a instrumental outro it sounds clearer.

Then you might need to get some new speakers or get a new set of ears. I find the vocal good.
I could hook up the track from the album if you want?

You can't judge a quality, when you get the links from youtube Chad.

People do a lot of bullshits (converting, etc.) go and buy an original album, you'll hear.

Suga Free; Smell My Finger .......well,need to find a link for this one.

The majority of the tracks are on youtube, in bad quality though, if you want a feel for it. Takes a few listens to apreciate it. First listen I thought it fuckin sucked with all the auto-tune, but the beats will grow on you.
