Well, I PMed this to Overseer yesterday because I thought it was a good idea and then I talked to maxi-padz and Gareefa on AIM/MSN and they agreed so I thought I'd post it here to see what all of the rest of you think. I think that this would be a big step up and I'm hoping it generates some interest in this thread so Overseer's more likely to give it to us.

Okay… bear with me here because this is gonna be pretty long. I know that we’ve already got a board for tournaments at WCC but wouldn’t it be great if we had a running league of emcees? I’ve seen this work at other boards (back in the day at lyricalbeatdown.com) and I think that there’s just enough emcees at WCC to do a really good job with it. The league would be called the WCCBL (West Coast Connection Battle League) and anyone could join. The steps describing the way the league would start are written below with the assumption that I’m the mod (although obviously you can pick whoever you want to mod it)…
i. You create a board for the league to be run out of at WCC.
ii. I post a topic in the new board describing what the league is all about and its rules. It would be called “WCC Battle League Rules”.
iii. I post another topic for sign-ups for the coming week (this happens every Friday and the matches are posted the following Monday… voting ends the following Friday). It would be called “Sign-Ups for the Week of 04/03/02”. A weekly schedule for the first week would look like this… (this is assuming that is starts this week)
Wednesday, March 27, 2002: Introduction to WCCBL Posted.
Friday, February 1, 2002: Sign-Ups for Week 1 Begin.
Sunday, February 3, 2002: Sign-Ups for Week 2 Finish
Monday, February 4, 2002: Matches for Week 1 Posted
- Monday-Wednesday: Emcees can post their verses but nobody else is allowed to post anything until both verses are posted. Anyone who freeposts will receive a penalty of one vote in their battle. If an emcee fails to post their verse by the end of Wednesday it is considered a no-show and they lose by default, the other emcee gets the win. No excuse can avoid this penalty but if the no-show emcee fails to provide a legitimate excuse then they are banned from competition in the following week.
- Monday-Friday: After both emcees have posted their verses others can vote. Every person involved in a battle that week must vote on every other battle in the league. I figure, if they have time to battle then they have time to vote on other’s battles too. AND I WILL CHECK. Every vote must be properly explained but a detailed review is not necessary. The penalty for not voting on even one battle the first time is a warning, the second time is an automatic loss, the third time is an automatic loss and a ban from competition the following week, and the fourth time is a ban from competition for a month.
Friday, February 8, 2002: Sign-Ups for Week 2 Begin.
Sunday, February 10, 2002:
- Sign-Ups for Week 2 Finish.
- I post my weekly wrap-up of the WCCBL’s events. The wrap-up would include the past weeks best verse, best battle, best punches, and belt holders…

Oh, didn’t I mention belts? (LOL) Belts would be at the heart of the league. For the first two weeks nobody would have any belts and I wouldn’t mention them. Then, all of a sudden I would set certain emcees against each-other to battle for the belts. The winner would receiver a win in their record and the belt and the loser… well… a loss. The following week certain emcees who I thought had performed well the previous week in “normal” battles would get shots at the belts. At the end of ten weeks the two belt holders plus the top six non-belt-holding-emcees would make the playoffs and the league would proceed as if it’s a tournament with me as the judge. The belts are as follows:
WCCBL Belt: The granddaddy of them all. The holder of this belt would be the envy of the rest of the league.
Topical Belt: In order to obtain this belt the emcee would have to win a pre-set topical battle where they need to attack their opponent well riffing off of a certain topic (decided by me).
Rankings would be determined purely by wins (not won-lost record, just wins). Where there was a tie in win total fewest losses would be the tie-breaker (a further tie would result in a judgement-call on my part based on the emcees’ “dominance” in battles).

What about current belts that we have. Middleweight, Tag Team, and Watah have been decided.

Those are tournament belts and would not be part of the league. Consider the league and entity unto itself. No battles anywhere else mean anything. The only time I'll ever look at outside records is to help with setting-up match-ups sometimes. COME ON, I WANT TO HEAR SOME OPINIONS! LOL... ;)

i am down for it..it is a totally better method than we already have..I have been in theses type of tournys..It is much more practical than what we already have..I think in this new tourny we should make all our records to 0-0 an we can all go from there

^naw u can battle outside this.. this is just an ongoing battle league that can go for ages u can still battle who u want in the normal keystyle forum

well it sounds good to me, reasonable facts listed etc. but wouldnt this also mean that ur tearing WCC apart by trying to get every emcee on WCCBL? i mean I love it the way it is now cuz this is how its been far as i know, I havent been here since day one i know but still. nonetheless I support the idea, i jus dont want anythign to change here lol :'(

It doesn't work like that. If this were to happen then you would all still have the freestyle forum to post your informal, predetermined battles (which are totally cool... I'll still battle outside of the league for sure). This is just an extra thing on the side that anyone who wants to can participate in (just like tourneys). If you participate, your record stays the same outside of league play but everyone's "league" record starts at 0-0. What do you think of that, Sikotic?

Im for it. Only thing id like to change is that, on any "judgement calls" made by the moderator (like tie-breakz)...there should be more then ONE person making a decision. Also, jus to clear shit up. u dont HAVE to participate in tha League lol. Like sikotic was askin about givin up yur rights to who u want to battle. well, thas ONLY in tha league n ONLY if u sign up. Basically how it is in tha "Tourny" section now. Id be down wit tha League tho...

All we need now is for Overseer to read my PM and say "yes". Then for him to make the board. If it happens and I'm the mod then maxi has agreed to co-mod it with me. I hope this works out. For now, let's keep our fingers crossed.

Yo, Overseer. I'd love to have maxi and inifinite's help with modding the board and they've expressed interest. Maybe you could make them mods too. Thanks.
