i dont get why people keep hating on what dre doing, this shit is dope as hell. people gotta listen to the shit he puts in every song, sick production
-
man, Dre's taking so long with Detox that his shit's getting leaked more and more. (if this really is for detox, its probably unfinished though)
-

I don't know how anyone can diss this "Topless" track.. it's insane, no denying it
-
i expected much more from Dre, but this beat IS dope 8)
-
btw... I thought the "Crack A Bottle" beat was sick.. but this song is much better as a song overall, yet still.. these two tracks prove to me that Dre's still got it.

What do you expect, like fuckin flames and sparks to fly out your damn speakers???? You guys have way too high expectations, this track is great and it's not even the finished version
-
its cool but the beat isn't by dre (confirmed to be khalil and a musican from his group 'the new royales') and he's not on it either. its a nice skeleton track and coulda been dope if dre had worked on it and spit the verse intended for him.
-
...too bad Dre didn't produce it :-\
-
fuck em all Dre is on point, to bad people are attacking his shit. thats when you know your doing something cutting edge.
Dr. Dre has DOPE Beats so it's only right dude attracts the largest amount DOPE FIENDS.
-
...too bad Dre didn't produce it :-\
The point is this was done for the Detox album, and I'm sure if Dre isn't the main producer he's co-producing or mixing this, or it is an indication of the quality we can expect on the album
-

Bump that, you can tell a Dre track. THose are unconfirmed rumors. Dre production IS on that track. The signature is all there, including the new piano trademark.
-
Produced by Khalil but Dre definetly had something to do with it. Wheter it's just mixing or additional production...
Sick track indeed 8)
-

LOL it has been confirmed that it's not produced by Dre yet you still make that claim?
the drums go hard i give you that, but it doesn't change anything.

U damn right but some call you a hater when you say that even tough it's legitimate

you should expect more, cause Topless isn't worth being on Detox
-
do we have any proof khalil did this... sounds like dre to me
and its dope. the beat is worthy of being on detox, dont know about the track itself.
the bassline during nas' verse is wack... needs to be retooled. but this is an incomplete leak so it is what it is
-

see this is what i'm referring to.
Dre's productions are being put under a microscope, yet this imitation passes the test?
i'm not accusing you of using a double standard, i'm just stating in general.
note that i don't expect Dre to make something completely different than Topless
i'm not stating that you don't have the right to like this beat or to state that it's Detox worthy,
it's just that these statements sound silly

In it's current state - it's clearly an unmixed/unfinished production. Even so, it shits on most tracks I've heard in the last 6 months.
Nas brings the heat on this one; shame it'll go to waste.

i wouldn't mind if they had actually finished it; at least the ones that liked it would have gotten what they wanted

yep this track is fucking awesome

In my opinion you're just being an idealist.
You have as much information, and their corresponding sources, as any other Dre fans on this board.
What if I told you the real Hittman confirmed (to me) that Dre actually had his hands on this track?
-
thinks its dope. Khalil dropped some fire and if the whole albums this quality it will be dope (as long as rappers are good)

btw... I thought the "Crack A Bottle" beat was sick.. but this song is much better as a song overall, yet still.. these two tracks prove to me that Dre's still got it.
Thats what I was thinking. I liked the beat a lot but Em's whiny singing almost ruined the song for me.

Its better than half the tracks on 2001
Word.. this song is better than half the tracks on 2001. Off the top of my head the only tracks on 2001 that were better were...
"The Watcher"
"Still Dre"
"XXXplosive"
"What's the Difference"
"Forgot About Dre"
"The Next Episode"
"Some LA Niggaz"
...and that's it!!!!!!! And really I'm being generous because I've always thought Kurupt fucked up XXXplosive and Nate came in and salvaged it

okay, not exactly half, but better than 6 tracks off of 2001. And thats in its unfinished state. It was one of the dopest albums in years, but y'all are overrating it. As an entire album it flowed. But look at some tracks individually and you see its weaknesses, especially from a lyrical standpoint. Some people have such high expectations for Detox that nothing will satisfy them and they think 2001 was a perfect album.
-
Yes this track is sick even if it's just a skeleton of the track.
The drums go hard, something i could expect for Detox, Khalil will be very important on Detox as Focus.

the verses of Topless certainly don't surpass anything from 2001

^^I agree...but Nas verse on Topless vs Kurupt verse on Xxplosive?
-
I agree it's the best "Detox" track so far, but better then half of "2001"? ::)

That's what i'm saying, i think we can widely expect more 'cause of his quality of work for 2001 and albums which came after (such as X, Snoop, 50, Game, Busta...) so 2 me nobody can call a hater a person who isn't satisfied about these recents leaks, cause he ain't. That just the proof we know Dre can do better than that period.

but i think detox will be classic, real hiphop, i think thats what dre should do anyways. topless is definetly on the right track i think.

Now you're just tripping. There were a lot of weak verses on 2001. Go listen to the lyrics. Nas's verse on Topless beats anything Kurupt spit on 2001. Not to mention Hittman. And T.I.'s lyrics for Dre are pretty damn good, better than all of Dre's verses on 2001 except the ones Jay-Z and Eminem wrote.

sur·pass [ sur páss ] (past and past participle sur·passed, present participle sur·pass·ing, 3rd person present singular sur·pass·es)
transitive verb
Definition:
1. exceed expectations: to go beyond what was expected or hoped for, usually by being bigger, better, or greater
2. do better than somebody or something: to be bigger, greater, better, or worse than somebody or something else
you were the one with the silly statements, so don't get it twisted
-
you're right, he didn't state that.
yet, he DID state that DJ Khalil produced it.
can you link me to that quote please.
i really think Dr. Dre had some part in the musical side of this record, but obviously Octo has denied he was involved...
-
Without having heard the quote or whatever off this octo cat, i would say it sounds like dre had something atleast to do with this song. It sounds more to his recent sort of sound, just more dope.
Regardless of who produced this, its better than the shit dre officially put out for eminems crack a bottle and 50 cents i get in without doubt for me. Def more 'worthy' of being on detox than the joints we know dre has done for sure.
Real nice joint but lets see what dre has stored for eminem. I think we'll get a better indication then of where his direction is going atleast abit.

D.O.C. only said that he liked the R.Kelly track and that he wanted it to be on Detox ( yes that's what crack can do to you but that's another story)
and that he thinks that Dre liked it too.

Thats what I was thinking. I liked the beat a lot but Em's whiny singing almost ruined the song for me.
i expected much more from Dre, but this beat IS dope 8)
U damn right but some call you a hater when you say that even tough it's legitimate
you should expect more, cause Topless isn't worth being on Detox
Its better than half the tracks on 2001
haha! comedian
Light Speed
Let's Get High
Bitch Niggas
Murder Ink
Housewife
Ackrite
okay, not exactly half, but better than 6 tracks off of 2001. And thats in its unfinished state. It was one of the dopest albums in years, but y'all are overrating it. As an entire album it flowed. But look at some tracks individually and you see its weaknesses, especially from a lyrical standpoint. Some people have such high expectations for Detox that nothing will satisfy them and they think 2001 was a perfect album.
no i'm not overrating it.
i like almost every track of 2001, so there goes your statement.
about the comment related to the lyrics: don't make me laugh
the verses of Topless certainly don't surpass anything from 2001
Now you're just tripping. There were a lot of weak verses on 2001. Go listen to the lyrics. Nas's verse on Topless beats anything Kurupt spit on 2001. Not to mention Hittman. And T.I.'s lyrics for Dre are pretty damn good, better than all of Dre's verses on 2001 except the ones Jay-Z and Eminem wrote.
haha, so now it's me? :D
i didn't shit on the verses from Topless in the first place.
it's just not something that surpasses anything from 2001 to me
You've got a shitty taste in lyrics then
nah, i just don't mess with crack.
you should take notice ;)

@ Dre-Day - what is it you don't like about that track? OK, it's a little corny on the lyrics with R.Kelly talking about smelling shit ;D
But I thought that beat had potential, and was more complex than the simple piano loops we've hearing out of that camp for the last few years.

lol i couldn't listen to the whole track
i immediately got a generic warning, in my brains ;D
well, as far as simpilicity goes,
i used to feel the same way about Dre's sound, when i first came along this forum.
but a lot of stuff grew on me over time, and more of the latest Dre style stuff was put out that i also like.
i think Dre's sound is in good shape.

really? I was actually surprised at T.I.'s verse, thought it was pretty good. It was written for dre so the final version will be dre spittin. And just cause Nas is on the song doesn't mean the whole albums gonna be east coast. Dre said he wanted to work with all the artists he's worked with before. And he and Nas have been hooking up since back in the day. I'd be surprised to find any other east coast artists on there except Nas and Jay. I'm just hoping wayne isn't on there.
How is this verse shit?
Its the DR try to save an artist out the ER
bring em back to life, beats like CPR
made the west side worldwide no PR
gangsta rap god I'm the end all be all
california love from the blood to the C-dog
the Compton monster make you wanna cut your MP off
greatest in the game, haters should be ashamed
for not acknowledging the reign of the west coast king
brought Chronic to the scene for the ? and the lean
now the game full of puppets, look at me no strings
again and again I've shown, you've seen me
shittin on niggas egos, ruining they self esteem
sky's the limit no roof I can do what you dream
did it all before you ever did a thing, na mean?
Tees and black jeans no bling just bang
officially deranged, clinically insane
look eazy, ain't a damn thing change I promise
still live like we did back in straight outta compton
taught niggas how to have attitudes on some hood shit
told em what to smoke when they were blazin that bull shit
then while you smell the dro roamin while my record play
not a blemish on my image, decorated resume
a legendary legacy
all that I was you'll never be, fuck what y'all telling me
forever on top, face it you'll never be better than the doc, ask Pac
I wasn't feeling crack a bottle either. But I bet it would sound a million time better with a decent hook.
