he killed a fat black security officer
-
but 3 am is in the morning.
-
gives the track such a darker feel; i love it! 8)
-
lets see if they show him wackin off to hanna montana
-
Seeing it with a video really shows how much the song sucks. It's the same formula as the MMLP; start off with a hokey pop song and then release a darker video. The difference is the Real Slim Shady was a mega hit pop song and The Way I Am was an instant classic. The result was 9 platinum.
Given the economy and the fact his last album barely made it to 5 million. I'd be surprised if this album does any better than 2x.

nope still sucks. with shallow's post on this one.

Sick video. Not something they'll show on daytime MTV, I bet.

classified > eminem.
true story.

classified > eminem.
true story.
classified is nothing special except for he's Canadian and he sounds like he's from 1996, which Canadians like since they are behind the times in American pop culture...even though they live vicariously through it.
pretty cool rap video. I'm not even a big fan of eminem.
-
dope shit 8) next level
-
Great video... definitely overshadows the track in terms of quality...
-
brilliant video but the songs still only a 7/10 track for me. My favourite part of the track is when the woman's screams of 'help me' come in and the beat switches up.
-
I like this video, goes well with the track which I'm liking more by the day.
-
dope shit 8) next level
-
Dope video , definetely add to the song ... I agree with Shallow post though , they try to re-create that MMLP feeling ... thing is Em was 10 times better as an artist in 2000 than he is in 2009 ...
-
dope video!!! 8)

-
Dope video. I like it more than the song by itself, though...
-
Dope video, makes the song better. The accent is more tolerable also but still unnecessary.
-

yeah, i barely even notice their is one when i watch the video.

off the hook video

yep, yep.....kinda actually goes well with the psycho vibe to the video....the voice and the picture hes painting in the song go hand in hand. This track really grew on me, shits dope!!
-
Dope track, dope video....Eminem and Dre at it again...

i think the Relapse is gonna be off the hook
the video is next level shit
we need eminem to save rap!

dude got a multi million $ formula
Eminem the name is the multi million dollar formula. Encore struggled to get to 5x and that was 4 years ago. Eminem has died down since then and coming back with the same tired formula and second rate songs isn't the answer. 3 AM actually wouldn't be half bad if it was rapped in a normal voice, but even then it would have been better served on an unreleased package a few years from now.
Eminem had two choices on his 4 years off with regards to a come back; either find a new sound and come back fierce or grow the fuck up and come back mature and not sell all that well but at least have credible material.
Instead we get the same shitty sound with a crappy accent and if it's as I predict and doesn't even break 3x it'll all be a complete bust. Em will always be able to do 2x. He could release "Eminem Reads the Collected Works of Mark Twain" and each one will go at least platinum, but if he ever wants to even come close to MMLP Em Show numbers he needs to wake up. Not selling well is fine when the songs are good but when you're not selling and all your songs are just sings trying to sell, you have a problem.
-
Comparing numbers to the way it used to be is irrelevent. Even Wayne who had the most generated buzz since 50 still didn't sell that much. If he sells 1 million in the first week it'll be good.
-
great video, i was xpecting sth great like this. song is better with the video on a whole new level.
-
honestly, i didn't think they would make a video for that song.
it's like they feel that they have something to prove?

well you know, the formula wouldn't really have been a problem for me if the actual songs were decent or better.
unfortunately this is not the case.
Eminem is still getting away with it :P just look at the success of we made you.
i think the Relapse is gonna be off the hook

i don't think he could ever reach that level of sales again, no matter what direction he takes.
i never expected that Eminem would take a 180 degree turn with Relapse, but i didn't think he would continue the route of Encore, either.
hence i said before, that this is not really a comeback.
also, anyone who thinks that Relapse 2 will be very different than Relapse, is naive.
if you're lucky, you will get some good songs with each album

Yeah the accent makes him seem more like a retarded serial killer, that was what I thought anyway, maybe there was a reason behind the accent after all
-
Dope video, makes the song better.
Well that has been the case with both "We Made You" & this.
Kinda sucks, he can't make a good song without a video.
-
Comparing numbers to the way it used to be is irrelevent. Even Wayne who had the most generated buzz since 50 still didn't sell that much. If he sells 1 million in the first week it'll be good.
When something is played out, it's played. It's as simple as that. Maybe MMLP numbers are out of the question, but he won't even do Encore numbers. Most hyped rappers can do a mil a close to a mil in week 1. It's the following weeks that make wonder. I just can't see this album going 3x unless there is a real gem released as a single later on. And when you are a star as big as Em and spend a lot of cash producing and promoting the album and videos, under 3x doesn't cut it.
Dre Day, even if the songs were better the first single would still be very boring by now. It's like pro wrestling or Jerry Springer in the mid to late 90s. They would do all these shock TV storylines and the public ate it up. They still try the same thing today and no one cares. May Young giving birth to a had isn't any better than Kane and a corpse and Jerry Springer could have the most unlikely situation ever but the public won't care as much any more.
Eminem needs a new direction, plain and simple. He is losing his credibility as a serious artist with every album he releases in the old style and he's going to lose sales as well. Because it's not funny anymore and it's not shocking anymore.
As for the accent making him sound like a serial killer; that idea might have worked if it didn't sound so much like like the Ass Like That accent already. The voice is stupid and it needs to go.
-
I agree with Shallow. I just can't understand how all those label heads + Em and Dre can be so stupid. Still trying to reach todays teenagers when it's obvious that they've moved on to Wayne, Kanye and T.I.. His core fanbase is in his mid/late 20's, TRL days are over.

I don't know if the Teens of today really have anything like they did when Em was going 9x. The only album on the Top 50 on Billboard that's even 3x is by Taylor Swift. In 2000 Em was going 9x. N Sync and Britney were both going Diamond+ and Backstreet Boys were still arounf there. Hannah Montana and Jonas don't do anything close to those numbers. Are there less teens today or are they just not all as intersted in the same things?
-
i wasnt feeling the song when i heard it, but the video was dope IMO. Gotta give em props for making vids like this, def not something the pop culture pushes for.

well, from a critic point of view, i totally agree with you!
and you're right about the sales & perception of Eminem as an artist too.
i was just pointing out that, i can listen to Without Me, while it's far from original, it's still a lot better than We Made You to me ;)
-
lets see if they show him wackin off to hanna montana
lol, that line really is annoying the shit out of you, huh!? :D
It's like you're in every Eminem thread these days, talking about that line of hannah montana :P
-
lol... forgive me ;D
-
i thought that line would make an interesting visual but they skipped over it. don't think she even appeared on the tv...

They'd probably catch a lawsuit if she did. That's how Disney rolls.
-
kim prolly think shes the shit for slim callin her out or mentionin her name in his songs

Even "Without Me" was like 6 or 7 years ago when he was far less boring doing that. Yes, I do think Without Me is a better track. But I'd probably have preferred We Made You rapped in 03 with a regular voice than I would Without Me rapped with an accent in 09.
