G-Unit General is putting out a project of all-new material called War Angel LP on Tuesday via ThisIs50.com. He says it's more like a street album than a mixtape. (Click here for an exclusive look at artwork for the release.) Fif -- who's in L.A. right now recording Before I Self Destruct with Timbaland and Polow Da Don -- said he's throwing heat rocks all summer long, then dropping his official LP in September (dare we dream he drops the same day as Jay?).
"I'm finnin' to get on the street, you already know what time it is," he said via cell.
The tagline for the project is "Prepare for Total Destruction."
"You know what it is, it's a conflict," Fif described. "The exact opposite. I didn't want to write Angel Demon. It's not the contrast between good and bad. But ... if someone's at war, I'm sure they're saying their prayers. They believe they have angels around them. What would you call an angel around a soldier at war?"
A War Angel, of course.
"That's why I titled it that," he added. "Creatively, this is not even a mixtape. That's why I put LP next to it. ... My core audience will understand it immediately, and it's written specifically for that."
With such a potent title, some people are obviously expecting him to go at his last known enemy: Rick Ross. Fif said that's not the case. He's done with the Miami MC.
"You're gonna see," he promised, before explaining why the beef with Ross is over. "I think if you don't identify when you've won a race, you'll continue to run victory laps until you've exhausted yourself. There's nothing else to win in the Rick Ross situation. There's nothing else to do to that guy from my perspective."
So who will 50 be firing missiles at?
'It's not a specific target, a specific person, I'm writing about," he clarified. "When you hear it, out of all the material I put on the street, you're gonna say that's the best body of work I put out in the mixtape circuit, period. The way the mood of music is right now, when they hear what this is, they'll say, 'That's what we needed.' "
More 50 Cent underground releases will follow in just a few short weeks.
"I have two other tapes to follow it," he revealed. "Fourth of July, Sincerely Southside Part 2 coming out with mostly '90s music on it. Timeless music, classic hit records. Then, after that, there's a G-Unit mixtape. It's actually untitled. I'll be finished with it in the next day or so."

I think its more to do with the fact he wants to get a buzz going and realease music that isnt controlled by interscope to get his fans who like his raw music back on side.

We'll see. "Before I Self Destruct" was supposed to be a more edgier concept album where he was going in a different direction but so far all I've heard are songs that seem to be aimed toward the usual club crowd. But from what I've heard from G-Unit in the last few months (mostly that "Deep Cover" mixtape), they seem like they are back on their A-game.

Who's time is it exactly? He's still coming out with platinum albums while the youngsters in the game are lucky if they even go gold. I'd say there's still plenty of interest judging by sales.

i think everyone i know either cringes or laughs if i mention 50 cent these days. i'd say the amount of people on here that think 50 is still reasonable or can make good music isn't very representative of most hip-hop fans.

i think he can make dope songs now and again. there were some alright songs on curtis and he did a couple mixtapes that were pretty dope. I dont discriminate, if someones making hot music i'll bump. Alot of people i know still check for him but they prefer his mixtape work to his albums

I agree with you, i myself prefer his mixtape work i think this is due to the fact hes not under pressure from interscope to make candy shop type records on his mixtapes. Thats why ive got high hopes for this war angel.

A friend of mine hates 50 cent with a passion and is into his murrs, little brother etc(im uk as well by the way).....i ask why he hates 50 so much and again as you say he comes with hes not real hip hop hes killing hip hop, he sold out etc. I try and show him some decent old school 50 but he wont have none of it...to me thats worse then any 50 cent stan.
I try to explain that hip hop needs both sides of the coin, and then he will tell me he cant relate to 50 but he can relate to little brother....again i try telling him it aint that deep some times its just about enjoying the music whether it be the beat or lyric or what ever("if you smart you be shook of me/i get tired of looking for you spray ya mamma crib an let your ass look for me" i cant relate to that but i still enjoyed it lol), you aint gotta take it so personally.

Yes, it's worth it. You'll like it. I'd give a more in-depth reason, but it's better than most of the 50 we've heard recently.

Im really feeling this, exactly what i was hoping for from 50. Production ins brilliant imo. Only tracks i dont like are london girl and cocaine ft robin thicke but i could have told you i wouldnt like them just by looking at the title.
'Get the message' is a brilliant track in my opinion. 50 talking about all hood people, disses preme. Even sounds like he says the name of some 1 he shot then mentions they came back to shoot him and shot then wrong person something along them lines lol, i line niggas is hot as well.
On the mixtape outro he says there having a party in baisley and 40 projects on a date in august.."taking the hood on an adventure" all celebraties flloyd mayweather etc.....sounds interesting.
Anyone whos gives this mixtape a serious listen and says this isnt a big improvement from what weve been hearing is honestly in my opinion be biased.

Well, I'll take back what I said, because after the first listen this is pretty good. 'Redrum' is by far the worst track, strangely, but I liked pretty much everything else. Some of the beats are great - I especially love 'CREAM 2009'. And 'Cocaine' is dope, although Robin Thicke showed 50 up with that Curtis Mayfield-style shit.
All in all, dope. And for free, you can't complain.

I can't take this material serious because he's one of the richest rappers today, he lives in a mansion, and he's making movies.
Look, he's grunting on a tape and saying he'll murder people. It's not like Moving on Up from Curtis where he reflects on his past life. Instead he's saying he'll shoot you and leave you in the street. I wouldn't even mind if the rhymes were hot but they're not.
The beats are the best thing about the release but that ain't saying much.

I was really surprised by this album. I really liked it. I think there was only 1 track out of 12 that I didn't care for. This might sound strange, but I sort of have a feeling that I might end up liking this album better than the official one when it drops. Of course I'll try to keep an open mind, but I just have a feeling the official release may have a lot more commercial sounding tracks on it.

It kind of serves the same function as a mixtape (getting people hyped about the official album), but with no annoying tags (and I'm assuming no re-used beats...?). Well it was a good idea being Dre probably had him scrap what he was working on anyways to start fresh. And 50 felt the material was still strong enough to release so it worked out. I like this album alot, has a Massacre feel to it a lil bit, which I actually digged that album so it's all good.

but i notice reading his album reviews he gives like 4.5 too great songs, could be the best on the album but compared to other hip hop it's not.
usually when i do a review i compare it to like the most classic thing possible, like New York State of Mind or something real, 5/5 classic.

He needed to narrow down the atmosphere of the album. Either go straight R&B and pop influenced tracks or go grimy. It was a solid project and did what it needed to do.Made him relevant musically again.As for cocaine I actually own robin thickes CD and that song is off his album the evolution of robin thicke so I thought it very odd for them to dig up an old song and add vocals to it.People shouldn't sleep on robin thicke he makes some smooth shit his albums are baby making music
