-

lol yeah. but they have removal now, so it's a matter of who you go to as well. some shops will comp you the removal fee if you're not happy or if a former artist fucked you up.

it would be a good idea for Punk'd or somethin. Have some sort of tool that feels like a real tattoo needle, but uses a fake wipe off ink. And just completely fuck somebodies tattoo up. Theyll think its real, and flip lol

Yes, tip, unless it's the owner tatting you
-
I tip
-
Never have but I'm hearin' now you supposed to? From personal experiences, have ya'll?
???
I THINK YOU SHOULD
-
no
all of the tattooists ive been to get like 75% of the money you pay for the tattoo, while the owner of the place gets the other 25% or whatever
-
I didn't know you we're Jewish watcher
-
I didn't know you we're Jewish watcher
if thats beening a jew than the Jew I know is not a Jew
-
Propz to ya'll course.
-
I didn't know you we're Jewish watcher
i'm not jewish @ all, but going to a tattooist who isnt getting paid properly will likely end up with you getting that mess in that fail picture
-
What does that have to do with tipping a tattooist? If they do a good job I like to tip. They appreciate it and it goes towards developing a relationship with the artist especially if you plan on getting more

and if they don't do a good job, what do you do, not tip?
the last tattoo I got cost me $600, with the artist getting like 500 of that money from memory. i'd rather that than the artist getting paid some $10/hour wage and getting a $50 tip or whatever, not giving a fuck if he loses his job or not
-
I still don't get what that has to do with tipping? If you go to a shop like that you deserve whatever happens.I don't get what the quality of the shop your going to has to do with tipping?
-
where as you're tipping i'd guess because they aren't making a good wage and want to give them a bit extra, i've only been to tattooists who are already getting the majority of the money i'm paying, which is like a wage+tip+tip+tip combined i guess
also, i'm in .au, not the us/eu. we don't really tip here since the minimum wage here is like $15/hour or something from memory
-
tattoos are for squares
-
I dont. Mostly cuz my tats have been done by family or homies.
-
it's rude to not tip; the tip should be substantial too.
if you get a multi-hundred dollar tattoo, it's not unusual for the artist to get like a hundred dollar tip.
jaydc is right, it's very much about establishing a good relationship with your tattoo artist...

you got a tat, QT?
-

thats the key. you find someone that does good work and that you can trust
-
nah i didnt and prolly wont lol
-
you got a tat, QT?
Yeah, but it's not like artwork. That's why I ask ya'll....So, like ya'll do it like a restaurant? Give them a percentage of the price? Bigger the tat, bigger the tip? Madd curious.. :P and I prop ;D
-
So the dude I use charges 100 per hour. He usually does 4 hour sessions at I time and I would give him an extra 100 as a tip. Thats 25%. It's quite a bit, but if you are happy with the work, and want to get more done that's not too much. Mine took like 13 hours, so I wanted dude to be happy lol. Anyhow if its something small that costs you like 75 bucks 25% tip on that is ok as well. As long as you like the work.
-
and if you dont like his work....youre fucked
-
yes you do if its from a parlor, not really if they doin it inhouse.
-
dont tip, and just go to a different tattooist for your next tat.
-
dont tip, and just go to a different tattooist for your next tat.
basically yeah in the sense that...if you don't wanna tip the guy that is currently tattooing you...then don't go to him again.
but if you like them and want their work again, tip 'em.

ever since i worked at Papa Johns when I was younger...i understood the importance of tipping lol
-
Yeah, a tip's a good look, shit I felt terrible after I found out you should. So after that, I thought I ain't goin' back there. It's embarrassing, LOL. But I mean, if it's somethang small, do you really, if it don't require personal artistry?
-
all right show us the tat and tell us how much you paid for it
we'll discuss your best course of action/level of righteousness only after that
+1

I don't own a digital camera, so I lose.
But I'm mainly talking about lettering, writing. I mean you giving him the text font and words, and all they doin' is puttin' it to the skin and tracing and coloring, basically.
So how you tip that?
Mines mainly costs around $60. That's the hourly rate.
Doesn't take any longer than 25 minutes.
But if your gettin' artwork and portraits, etc., thangs that put personal touch and effort too or anythang costin' madd hours, I could understand the tip.
You understand where I'm coming from word? Propz back course too.
-
What did you get truth ?
And for my first tat I gave the guy 25 bucks I think.
-
Various writing, words, on my arms, neck, torso. Put it on your torso, it means it's 'always on your side.' Put it around the collar bone cuz it's a 'pain in the neck'. LMAO.
Nahhh, haha..but a 25 dollar tip? What was that for? Writing too?
See I only had a 20 dollar bill and I didn't know if that was too much to give dude when I got my neck done, cuz it's small, took approximately like 6 or 7 minutes.
-
you're probably fine, if it was that quick for real buuuuut were it me getting a 60 dollar tattoo, i'd just give the artist a bill.
