I really don't see what's big about it, outside of it being the first offical Jay-Z diss track that Game has co-signed. He's dissed him before on wax but before it was kind of tip-toeing around it a bit. The two have come very close to having a real war of words, many times, but it's never quite jumped off. The diss itself? He says he's old and has big lips. I don't really hear anything that's a knock-out. He said the same stuff on that verse on "My Bitch" and there was much better wordplay there. Jay has a lot to work with in his diss if he puts one out. It'd be real interesting to see if Game has grown lyrically enough to body Jay but I really wouldn't underestimate Hova on this one.

It's not really a beef though. It's like Jay versus Nas. It's a rap feud. Jim Jones was mainstream and he dissed Jay. He even had a press conference about it like it was supposed to be this huge thing. Everyone talked about like Jay would answer at Summer Jam and instead, he went a different route. Between this and the Buddens-Method Man thing, it could be interesting to see competitive hip-hop return but as far as beef? That shit just isn't interesting anymore. We'll see what happens with this though. Without Jay-Z acknowledging it, it's just business as usual for Game.

Like I said, we'll see what happens. I'm not a big Jay fan but people act like Nas straight-out crushed him from the beginning when Jigga actually fucked Nas up pretty good with that "Takeover". He nailed him with quite a few things that should have ended his career. But the competition really brought the hunger back out of Nas and he dropped probably one of the hardest comeback records ever.
I don't get your comment about equal marketing though. This isn't like LL vs. Canibus where the promotional dollars are gonna be a big deciding factor. Game's already established enough where it really won't matter.

What are you talking about? He's been saying how much he respects Jay as a rapper for like five years now. He says on the Documentary that Jay is a legend and he doesn't take shots at legends. If you listen to his music, he references Jay a lot more than Nas.

It's possible that something could have been done behind-the-scenes that fueled this further but a line saying, "This ain't about Game" or something to that extent is not I would call the first shot in a lyrical battle especially when Jay-Z has come up countless times in all of Game's albums/mixtapes. As a battle, I like this match-up if it goes down. It will be interesting to see who brings their A-game.

i am telling you, Game is dying for Cali/New York beef; Jay is the biggest active name out of Brooklyn & Game wants to play Pac & needs Jay to be his Biggie.
But Pac and Big was a beef. It wasn't rappers trading verses about each other. It was one rapper thinking the other one had him set up to be shot and claiming he slept with the other's wife. Game and Jay isn't that and never will be.
no doubt that Game/Jay won't be close to a classic beef, but that's what Game is aiming at.

While it would be dope to hear another Game & 50 collab or a young buck & 50 collab again I seriously doubt it's going to happen. 50 seems like the rare exception in this industry where if he has beef he's riding it out until the end.

The only thing with Game is, he is waiting for somebody to say somethin so he can attack them. If you noticed, he doesnt really pick on rappers who respected as real rappers, ie Nas, etc. Im sure he's confident enough to know that on the mic Jay cant compete, just like 50 couldnt.
What are you talking about? He's been saying how much he respects Jay as a rapper for like five years now. He says on the Documentary that Jay is a legend and he doesn't take shots at legends. If you listen to his music, he references Jay a lot more than Nas.
Game was clearly being sarcastic on the documentary and said "I don't take shots at legends" he was at great pains not to say Jay was a Legend.
If you can't see that I suggest you rethink every lyric you ever heard, there is such a thing as pitch and tone my friend, look out for it next time! ::)
