Flo Rida ~ What has he actually contributed to Hip Hop apart from a continuation of weak watered down repetitive garbage? and half of his music is sampled by the most pathetic dance and pop songs there have been in the last 15 years, and his raps can be ghostwritten by pre-schoolers. Not what I call ideal listening. I like my music hot, and my raps either mellow, meanigful or hot/raw, not this
Gucci Mane ~ "See above"... A fag who trys to market himself as a real drug dealing balling killer lol, but in reality he's none of what he proclaims. Using outdated drug slang, and jumping onto other wack talentless bandwaggon rappers and spitting on dull new school trashy mixtape beats makes his music wack. He can't rap worth a fk, and demonstrates no emotion or tone leveling in his raps. Sorry, but I like my rappers to actually spit in different tones, not in monotone - I had a science teacher who done this, and it puts me to sleep. He also likes to wear over-the-top "fake" bling bling in order to get attention, like a girl would do!

Mainstream Success in the pop charts does not represent a 'rappers' intelligence or rap ability. It only reveals how much a label is willing to go to, to cut short, and deprive the listening audience of quality and substance in music, and yeh some dubcc members and others may defend the whole situation by saying dumb shyt like "who cares, they make hits, people buy them, dont buy it or listen to it if you don't like it" but fail to see the negative ripple effect it has in the music industry, and how it may affect YOUR favourite artist(s).
These bubblebum 2 minute wonder club hits may sell enough in the 2 weeks they're sniffed at to attain a number 1 chart position, but does nothing to retain interest levels. Cheap, quick and nasty, and as a result, it leaves the overall average music sales down, and does nothing to boost confidence in the industry when all these labels invest in these talentless puppets.. Talented artists with fan bases have been waiting up to ten years, and some over, just to get an album out, and can't because they don't create a path or opportunity for genuine talent to flourish, and recapture confidence in a lacking industry... They wonder why we don't buy CD's anymore? I was sick and tired of paying £13-16 for wack albums back in 2002, and from there they got worse.. From Nelly, fabolous etc. (average rappers receiving huge air time) to the more wack current bunch - eg. Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, flo rida etc. It's no surprise no one buys music, and it affects labels and managment attentiveness for risks, and nuturing for talent for a craft that should be priority over gold & ice teeth and chains and whether a guy sucks dick or not

As said before, these people who make "sell out" music as you put it can't do anything else and are not talented - that's the problem!!!! It has nothing to do with tastes... There are other rappers who also do this, but can rap very well behind closed doors.. Example - Cassidy - Someone I'm not at all keen on - he made some pretty commercialised garbage, but he still dropped stuff for the streets, battled in freestyles etc. and showed some decent skills, so that comment about personal taste isn't valid. Soulja Boy & Flo Rida are empty shells of an image. I've yet to see them show any kind of skills that show me they deserve to have a glimmer of mainstream success

I agree with majority of your post, and think 99% are in it for the money, but there are a good number of examples, who although their mainstream hits were weak lyrically, they put out a few underground joints to let people know they got the talent. From 2000-2005 they done both - over-commercialized retail albums, but had a few mixtape bangers and other rarities, which showed they had some intelligence to spit some decent tracks here and there on the rare occasion which was the complete opposite of their retail albums, only recently in the last couple of years has their been these rappers who can't even put out mixtape tracks or anything anywhere with at least 1 hot verse to show that versatility, even with the aid of ghostwriters, they're just 100% empty and lack talent, which in turn can be classed as dumbness if that makes sense.
They should have a social responsibility to show the streets they're justified in their position that enables them to milk a genre, and profit from weak terrible music. Others did before, in the last few years they haven't. Not their fault though at the end of the day
