Title: Who Would You Consider The Illest Lyrically
Post by: AlerG on October 30, 2002, 07:08:01 PM
I Think It's Quite A Tough Decision.

Big Punisher. Perfected the multi-syllable rhyme that Kool G. Rap originated and that Eminem uses to make his flow so tight. Amazing punches and metas as well as the wittiest tongue next to Jay-Z.

Favorite verse: 1st verse on "Dream Shatterer".

R.I.P. Pun

Dream Shatterer is absolutely incredible...one of the best battle raps ever written, peace.

If your just talking about a heavyweight/complex lyricist.

I'd go with Canibus (before C True Hollywood Stories) from those choices.

My favourite verse from him was on The Lost Boyz' "Beasts From The East".

Pun is up there but it would be even tougher with Gza, Ras Kass, Rakim & Killah Priest to choose from.

I was readying up for answering Pharoahe Monch, but he wasn't on the list.

I gotta go with Royce otherwise, even if Icarus, Az & Journalist is all dope though.
Never really got the buzz about Pun, and I'd take Royce before Cormega & Canibus any day.
And M.O.P. MURDERED Journalist on his own shit, so he loses a point for that.

in that list ill go wit pun...he just said some incredible shit...to me the one of the hottest rhymes he ever had was on that track "Twinz" wit Fat Joe over the "Deep Cover" beat...."dead in the middle of little italy/little did we know that we riddled to middle men who didnt do didly"....i had to rewind that part at least 10 times to believe it and i still do...

but to me TechN9ne has the best lyrics....he has a wide range of topics...everyone can relate to his lyrics...and hes understandble...very clear and crisp...a fast paced introspective multisyllabic metaphorical wonder...thats how i describe him....thats just me

EXACTLY! I had to rewind that shit multiple times to make sure it was reality too. That was just fuckin' fire. That was the best remake of a song ever after Snoop's "Lodi Dodi".

What tha?
All I heard was "Dead in the middle of Little Italy, lil-dil-riddl-middl-dilly-silly-philly"

He mumbled so bad that I couldn't hear shit, I even rewinded to try to hear it proper.
If Tech N9ne is a example of a crisp rapper, than Pun is the example of the mumbling rapper.

DV Alias Khrist is my favourite right now as his lyrics are fucking tight and no one can fuck with his flow (listen to symphony to hear how crazy it is)

From that list, I gotta go with Proof...Listen to his lyricism skills on "So Crazy"...He's definently a great lyricist...I didn't say he's the best overall rapper on the lis, thought...Just the best lyricist...PeACe
