Dr. Dre’s Detox has been a long time coming and the delay is about to get even longer.
When asked by ABCNews.com what’s been keeping him busy, Dre laughed, “Only my album that I’ve been working on for the last 10 years, that’s it, Detox record.”
The hip-hop pioneer shot down any glimmer of hope that the project is coming out this year. “Hopefully I’ll get it done at the end of this year and we can hear it next year.”
What’s the holdup? “Motivation, other things getting in the way, that’s it.” And headphones. Just last week he unveiled a cheaper, lightweight version of his popular Beats by Dr. Dre.

I remember when the myspace said "2009 is the year of aftermath". Relapse, Relapse 2, Before I self Destruct, The Reformation.
Only 2 projects I can see coming out is Relapse 2, and 50 Cents album. I don't give a fuck about 50, so I guess I only get 2 aftermath albums this year :/ Reformation lol Bishop Lamont sealed his own carrier into the grave by saying "It will be released after Detox" lol

I hate to sound negative, but chances are that next time this year we'll still be discussing the potential release of Detox. Time will obviously tell but don't hold your breath people, Dre is swimming in money and no longer needs the fans.

So is he saying that he is not motivated or he has too much motivation toward other things ? Not sure what he is saying there. There is no real surprise there anyway . We knew his shit wasn't coming out until 2010. But , Relapse 2 won't come out this year either bcuz they won't release it so soon after 50's weak album in November . Eminem won't come out until March and then we'll get Dre's shit in the winter time of next year.

What a bunch of shit. I can't believe it would take somebody 10+ years to come up with enough songs to drop on an album. If he were really that talented, he would have dropped 2 cd's within this time frame. Look at all musicians from accross the board and you wouldn't see some chicken shit like this. However, of course I will buy it when it comes out.

I agree, I have a bad feeling about this. I mean if he's got 50, TI, Wayne, whoever else it's gonna be wack. The shit I've heard so far has been disappointing. But outside of a few beats here and there, Dre hasn't impressed me in several years. Nate Dogg is on the disable list, Em is wack nowadays, Snoop is wack, Game is gonna name drop every celebrity 400 times, etc.
I haven't been anticipating this in years tho, and i haven't gotten my hopes up for it since I heard him talking about it in like 2000.

Detox is an ultimate project for Dre, why do you think he lists Quincy Jones as an influence?
this project may or may not ever see the light of the day.
Dre has nothing to prove & the biggest pressure comes from himself.
while Detox was first priority for Dre a few times in the past and may become again in the future, it definitely isn't first priority right now.

IMO in between these years since his last album he could've AT LEAST dropped 3 or 4 quality albums..instead of workin on 1 for years and its still not here 2day

I agree with you. He could have easily released many albums and that this album will be hard to live up to expectations but I think he'll pull through. I think there's a reason we haven't seen or heard much from Dre lately. Especially really dope shit. It's all being saved until Detox drops. And, if Detox doesn't drops the beats are most likely going to be sold to other artists.

if i was Dre i would be worried about expectations of the public, so i can understand it from a motivation point of view...u know, if the shit they've cooked up so far isnt up to the high standards he's already set himself, is it worthwhile rushing the project? i know 10 years isnt exactly rushing but u know what i mean lol 8)
