So why is it illegal to pay someone to have sex, but its not illegal to pay someone to have sex in front of a camera? Thoughts?

Because there are enough religious nuts in this country that will go ape shit if it was made legal. The government could do it if they wanted, its legal in Vegas. Its smarter to make it legal. For one, the government COULD tax it and make money off of it. Second, it could be a more reputable business where u didnt have to have cracked out hookers in back alleys fuckin some dude for $20. There is no good reason for it to not be legal....just like there is no reason for weed to not be legal.

I don't think so. There is a big difference between a man going to a video store to take a tape home, or a man surfing the web, and masturbating to it, and a man who goes out and buys girls to have sex with.
Another reason it is protected is under art based laws. A pornographic film is an artistic expression with actors and actresses. A hooker is more or less selling herself to the buyer, and opening the door to that could open the discussion of people selling themselves to other people for money.
I'm not saying I agree with it, but it is a different entity, slightly.
