By the way, if you are Victor Lucas - I never figured I would meet you via a forum but props. Lol. If you aren't, it's whatever but you still made my day and my friend's day because - that Reviews On The Site is dope. I grew up watching your stuff and so did my friend, because I was a big video game nerd back in the day, but yeah back to Drake. What's your favorite Drake song, Vic?

Hes alright. A bit overrated tbh But yer I'm glad he's from Canada, maybe it will open up the doors for other countries hip-hop to come to the US. Although Canada has the advantage of similar accents and very similar music to the US.

LOL @ everybody on here who's never even heard Drake's shit besides the shit on the radio... now that's typical.  i guess no1 has heard tracks like these from Drake (1 of which is produced by DJ Khalil).  Product of the industry, maybe, but he has some of the best shit I've heard in years and his flow and ear for beats is exceptional.  Pac would work with Drake if he was still around.  Yeah, Drake raps about the bitches, but it's more than just "i love u baby" and "fuck me tonite" substance on the records.

Like i've said b4, people don't like him only 4 tha simple fact that dude is in the mainstream industry, he's signed and works with Lil' Wayne (a bigger reason for the hate), and he makes songs more geared to the females (whole time he's just keepin' it real with himself & the people on the songs).  Dig deeper between the nigga's raps, you'll see that him and LL Cool J should go down on the same podium of "player" rap (each with his own spot, if Drake keeps up).  Real talk, even if Drake wasn't co-signed by everybody that's anybody I would still check 4 his shit.  The nigga is mad nice, listen to his mixtapes and album (ep) and you'll see that you shoulda been a fan a minute ago.

I look at it like this, if u like Conscience, Political (even tho he doesn't r3ally have any), Fun, Lyrical, and Feel Good rap (like Talib, Common, and Wale) then you gotta fuck wit' Drake.  He keeps it 100 and has tite shit, you couldn't really ask 4 more.  But i guess the bloggers will never quit.  I could point out two classics by Drake (if not classic then damn near close, this is greatest hits material i know that).

this isn't a petition for Drake to be everybody's favorite rapper but what tha fuck r y'all on.  you can't call urself a fan of hip hop if u nit-pik at everything.  i loved "the chronic"s and the "ready to die"s but let's b real here, albums from the 90's isn't the only quality hip hop music.  i don't see a decline in Hip Hop with niggaz like Drake, I see the growth

some1 finally comes along and can cater to a wide audience (on all sides) and some folks still think he ain't good enough.  I ain't sayin worship the nigga or sweat bullets everytime u hear about him but atleast recognize that the nigga got more skills than most, it's not that hard to see (homie is the complete artist for 2009+)

well then who is?  i like alot (i mean Alot) of artist that made their 1st LP after 2004 (maybe not all of the music but the artist) but I can't think of anybody off the top of my head that has made shit fresh like this in a long ass time (besides Jeezy).  the last nigga I remember that can claim that status was 50 cent (i would say T.I. but he came out in 99).  There's not a lot of rappers that have a widespread appeal and can keep it raw at the same time (raw like non-mainstream hip hop).  There's not too many artist that you can pop on their LP and listen to it front 2 back on the 1st go.  I haven't quite listened to Drake's shit front 2 back but i almost did lol

Drake is dope. Great hook singer, great songwriter; can make enjoyable hits that aren't corny (Forever, Best I Ever Had, Money To Blow...) and can create a real good atmosphere when it comes to track with more "substance" (Successful, Fear, The Calm). And yeah he raps about chicks a lot but it's not on some "fuck a bitch, I've fucked 3hoes last night...), it's about everday relationship stuff that you can relate to without sounding too corny (like that Timbo joint). He's like a more articulate Wayne.

What he needs to work on is the flow, it's too one dimensional, he should adapt to the beat more often.

The guy is a fraud, plain and simple. If I never new of the guy before and all of a sudden he showed up and I was 17 maybe I'd be behind him. But I remember this kid growing. I'd even see him from time to time in the fucking mall. He was the furthest from the streets as possible. He's a decent actor with an image he knows how to play, and when you've seen the real side for so long you can't get past it. For those who don't understand what I mean, imagine Carlton Banks all of a sudden decided to rap like a thug. That's how I know Aubrey Graham. Not that I think he's bad.

His whole character is this guy from the streets. The way he talks, dresses, laughs. That is nothing like the guy he was all these years. You don't have to rap about murder to act like you're from the streets. R Kelly was very street with out being a thug rapper talking about killing people. Drake fakes it too much. I can tell it isn't legit.

I'm from T-Dot and ain't proud of nothing that guy does for Canada. My close friend owns a restaurant/nite club on College street and he is always there when in Toronto. As a person he is a cool humble dude. He doesn't rep Canada or Toronto in his music and thats bullshit in my eyes. Every artist should give respect to were they come from and he doesn't seem too.

KARDINAL OFFISHALL  Reps T-DOT to the fullest and thats why he's loved here and can go were ever he wants without people tryin' to rob him !!!

I agree completely. We were supposed to open for Drake years ago but he didn't have the support, he ended up not doing the show....he's doing what he has to to make money which is fine but really he's nothing special around these parts.

I'm from Scarborough you idiot. It's more diverse than any place you've ever been. I'm pretty much the only white guy in every classroom I've ever been in my whole life. This has nothing to do with him being confident. He was very confident as Aubrey Graham aka Jimmy from Degrassi. He acts like he's street. In this case it's New York black street, as seen on TV and movies. He acts nothing like the thugs in Toronto, which are mainly Jamaican. He is acting. That's my point. There are plenty of confident black men in hop hop that don't fake their way into a thug image; Chuck D, KRS, Saul Williams.

And their are plenty of non-blacks that do the exact same thing Drake is doing faking being street; Eminem.

I don't think anyone ever said he doesn't rep it. It's whether we want him to rep us that is the issue. Niel Young is still our top artist all time so far and I don't think he has anything to worry about from Drake.

We're talking about Canada's best music artists, and Young is the current greatest. I was just saying Drake will never get there. As far as best current Canadian pop stars; Even Nickelback wipes the floor with this guy, and I'm no huge Nickelback fan.
