back in the day, it probably mattered, but now with all the books and even SCHOOLS, people can grow the bomb pretty much anywhere in the world.
all the old school growers are spread out over cali, canada and amsterdam, so i dont think you can specifically say that X place has the best herb....of course that wont stop people from arguing about it. ::)

but if were just talking about the US, then yeah, cali had the best. i mean, the Emerald Triangle, the bay, the valley, LA....all these places produce some of the best herb around. not to mention the amount that is grown out here for the dispensaries and clubs.

no the fact they came to cali consecutively for 4 years every summer to smoke the OG, tells alot. the people that say "amsterdam" or "BC" is the best never tried the 818 OG in their life.

dont get it twisted, cali goups have entered and done well in the cup, too. thats what im saying, the bomb shit is spread out in cali, canada and amsterdam. these three places are infamous for the bomb shit. these are the places where the best shit originates from....and then it migrates all over the world.
you think they dont have OG in NL??!! lmao come on man. OG comes from the diesel/chem dog family and those fuckers over there have pretty much perfected that family tree. no strain is exclusive to a certain area unless the grower keeps the harvest all to himself and never shares.

I can't speak on other places, I don't want to look ignorant like some others here.
I've lived up and down the west coast. Oakland California, BC, the Central Coast California, Southern California, Seattle.....I don't know anything about sitting in Amsterdam at the coffee shops, or hanging out with Vermont hippies. I've smoked a lot of NY Diesel and such while spending time out there, but they don't really belong in this discussion.
My favorite strains I've smoked were not flavor of the month names that roonatic likes to brag about getting from some rat hole dispensary in the San Pornando Valley (although they do rank in the top 10). My favorites were small independent grown batches by hippies in Northern California.
BC has great strains.
The bay area is the mecca if you're serious about weed culture.
The central coast is only good if you're getting it from the bay area.
Seattle is awesome, there is a sizable medical marijuana culture growing and strong political movement towards legalization.
Southern California is also a mecca. That being said, Los Angeles doesn't seem to meld with serious cannabis farming culture. Too busy, fast, polluted and hot to really feel what cannabis is all about (in my opinion). While I really enjoyed my time in LA, smoking out at night on my offices rooftop, you just can't compare to the the experience of cool, coastal Northern California. Blowing a small independent crop and tripping out to the sound of waves crashing.
This is all my opinion though, take it as you want, which will probably be up your butt and hurtful knowing the people here.
