E-40 - not the best emcee in the world...but then again hes a game spittin not a rapper cuz uh "im not freestyla dont rap fo free mane/this paystyle on mines cuz i love money mane"...one of the most innovative artists...very influential...has everyone jockin his slang...jockin is actions...and was one of the first indi rappers to make it big...plus hes so damn player...cant help but to jack ya slacks and pop ya colla to his music

All time:
2Pac - Deep, emotional and introspective lyrics. The flow and voice are ill.
Ice Cube - Politcal lyrics mixed with gangsta style. Flow and voice are dope.
Now:
Nas - Lyrically [meaning balancing skills with content, not just spittin' out pointless jibberish] and conceptually the best in the game at the moment IMO.
Snoop Dogg - Snoop in his early years would be in my top favorites of all time. Right now Snoop is still one of my favorites though. He can still make good music.
Scarface - One of the last older M.C.'s that are still puttin' out great albums. Face's subject matter has matured and he improved lyrically.
DMX - In '98 he was my favorite rapper. He has fallen off but still can make a banger if he wants. Lyrically he was never one of the elite but his voice, flow and charisma are what make me enjoy his music.
Eminem - The best in the game only second to Nas. He has the best multis since Pun isn't here and his subject matter is steadily improving.

Favorite "Artist" has to be Dre no doubt....straight up the best producer....brings heat.....has been in the game for over a decade now....that prett incredible and still is up there in the game....cant nobody fuck with him IMO....others i really like is Tupac, Eminem, Snoop, Cube, Knocturnal, WC, Ice Cube, DJ Quik...and i can go on forever.....but my fav artist no doubt is Dr. Dre....it just seems like he brings out he best in everyone with his production.

2Pac - he was the most complete MC ever. Had the ability to flip any type of track and make it dope, and his message will carry on forever. The man was way ahead of his time. There will never be another 2Pac.

Favourite artists lists keep changing but Rakim has been parked there since I got into him in '97. Then another at the top, The Last Emperor has been there since 2000, can't get enough of him. I'm going to review his unreleased album in the album review section soon.
If I had to give 5 favorites right now, the others would have to be: Nas, Devin & Em.

Snoop Doggy Dogg- When he first came out, I could'nt believe how dope he was. I used to have this chanel called the Box, and they would allways play 187 on a cop, and I loved it, then nuttin but a g thang, and just every song he did was tight as fuck. He's not what he used be by any standards but I still love some of his music. I met him during the filming of Gin & Guice and we kicked for a while. He was the biggest rap star at the time and he acted like he was just like me. He never talked down to me or acted like "Yeah Im a rapper and your just a school kid" He even gave me some of the crews food. Just a real cool muthafucka
honarable mention:
Nas- eventhough everytime I look he's contricting himself, lyrically he's the best. Every time I write rhymes I listen to Nas first, he sets the standard for me.
Biggie-style and voice was dope together blended words that don't mix perfectly.
2pac- I like the pac before Death Row, I think his concepts were better and lyrics were deeper. His stuff was so real that I really believed it. Most rappers I just listen to it for fun but pac was serious.
