Aight, me and S.G.V. (aka Ray Diaz, aka FOO) had a discussion some time ago, and it all boiled down to S.G.V. saying Royce is WACK, while me myself, I think he's kinda dope.
He has released "Rock City" & "Rock City 2.0" which is pretty similar, and I think a rapper with verses like these CAN'T be wack:

lyrically he has much talent, he just needs more exposure and he shouldnt fuck with that Trackmasters no more,

anyone who says royce is wack shows little dedication to hip-hop...with tracks the callibre of king of kings, boom, my friend, life, all appearing on the same lp which has been getting fucked over for way too long can't be wack...as an emcee i can't see wack anywhere in royce, although he has made some decisions i wouldn't, he's made way too many dope songs to blemish his track-record, peace.

average, inconsistant with his lyrics,can be real good at times though.........makes me laugh tho sometimes but i dont like his flow sometimes.....got charisma but is def missing something to make him a superstar for the moment

Royce = Wack...LOL
No way, give me one reason other than he has made poor attempts for commercial tracks (which I'm not a fan of) like "You Can't Touch Me" and all his Neptunes tracks, but that alone doesn't make him wack. The above mentioned tracks plus "I'm The King" and both sides of the Bad Meets Evil 12" are also great and show his skill.

Nah, he is definately not wack, in my opinion he is really dope. The two versions of his album don't really show how good he really is cause they are riddled with too many attempts at commercial tracks. "Boom" is an absolute classic song, as is "I'm The King". He was really dope on the Bad vs Evil tracks, and most of his guest appearance have been really good too.
Hopefully he will stop all this commercial bullshit on his next album and get Primo, Alchemist and co to do the production. If he does then I think he will drop a straight classic.

i never liked anything from royce...hes always been too cocky for me...callin himself detroits king and shit...lmao...rock city was so so...nothin special to me...i just think its funny that he tries to clown d-12...when proof would rip him...

Ask alot of the people on what I said about him...I said he was straight wack after I heard Rock City, but just listem to "King of Kings" and "Boom" and youll see how dope an mc he is! ;)

I wouldn't call him wack, but he isn't anything special. You can use all the metaphors and complicate rhymes you want, but if the flow and beatz are there, you going to have trouble gettin fans. How much Rock City sell? 15,000? Can't believe he had the nerve to diss EM. Best tracks were done with Em too.

I'll admit he gots skills as an emcee but what good is that gonna do if he keeps makin garbage ass music. I peeped him a lil before he nearly blew up.. on this track called "Nickel Nine"... I thought that song was pretty dope.

No one wants to hear those Royce/Neptunes tracks or songs like "U Can't Touch Me" but if you haven't peeped the rest of his album you should cause the rest are tracks like "Nickel Nine". "Life", "Solider's Story", "Take His Life" and the aftermentioned "Boom" & "King of Kings" are all bangers. Also, are Nas or Ras Kass wack for thier commercial attempts?

^^^Nas' first commercial attempts were horrible...at least now its a lil more natural now...as for ras...his attempts were not that great either...back it up was coo nothin lyical about it tho...thats really his most commercial track...but like royce he shouldnt try to make...he should let it happen...

Yeah, and I think we can conclude that Royce infact is a dope rapper.
Even the foo S.G.V. thinks that now after I made him see the light, even if he says otherwise on the board to keep his underground image.
