some of the blurb from his site:

Europe didn’t just providean evocative backdrop for the story that is Last Train to Paris, it also inspired the sound. Though Combs is known for his contribution to hip hop, heis also a passionate fan of dance music, often traveling to global hot spotslike Ibiza and Berlin to take in the new sounds emerging from the techno scene.Blending elements of UK grime, Mediterranean techno and the 808s of Americanhip hop, the album represents a new sound that Combs calls “train music.”

“I’ll even take off my shades,” sings (yes, sings)Combs on “Twisted”, hinting at a new, emotional core to his sound. The multilayered track represents some of the many influences of Last Train. With a soaring synth riff that reflects the head-trip that is falling in love,he recalls a post-millennial Prince. Other tracks veer from tribal drums tochurch organs to gritty instrumentals, all combining to form the new sound.

While Combs has had unsurpassed success in many different realms, from fashion to spirits to film, the lush soundscape of Last Train represents a renewed commitment tomusic from the multitalented impresario. By opening up a chapter of his ownlife to tell the story, he’s crafted an album that is expressive and exciting. Sure, this album will make you dance, but Dirty Money is more than just dance music. It’s a movement.

I like the idea and the marketing team is on point.

"Either Get On Or Get Off"

Edit:

I'm giving this a spin.

I know for a fact if this is even decent people will cry foul because it's Diddy.

Two tracks in - intro was fine.  First song is okay.

diddy's last solo was sick in terms of the production, very listenable. the direction of this is just trash though. he's trying to do some type of concept sound and it just falls flat on its face and mostly sounds horrible. the single hello good morning is the best executed track in terms of an experimental sound.

Hmm, only gave it one qucik spin, the first half that is and it sounded dope to me. Sort of like Diddy's version of 808's or So Far Gone. He still has an ear as a producer (not beatmaking but more the executive role). Gonna give it a full spin soon

^^^

thank you.

people just don't know what good music is anymore it's crazy.  that's why i rarely get sucked into all of that blogger talk, most of the time they don't even listen to it and write it off as "The worst thing all year".  Diddy [and Dirty Money] just dropped his best album, it's way better than "Forever" and that had Biggie all over it.

i can't wait for that Bugatti Boyz album, i have a feeling that that's gonna be 1 of the albums to top next year.  niggaz are really gonna have 2 step their game up fuckin' wit' Puffy, dude got his mojo back foreal!  10 years ago you couldn't get me 2 budge on a Puffy track unless somebody else was on it (black rob, gdep, etc) but now i can't even lie i'm jah fuckin' wit Puffy becuz it's Puffy, props!  i'm still on my Gucci Mane Brick Squad shit right now tho lol.

I honestly feel like if this album was made by some new, up & coming kid, it would get love.

But considering it's Diddy & has a reputation for making "whatever" music, people don't accept it.

It's honestly not too bad at all. 8)

I really like it. Isn't over crowded like I thought it would be and it's sequenced well. Despite what I said earlier in the thread I enjoy and happy to admit I was wrong. Production is great.

It's not that Diddy makes "whatever" music, it's that he is a bitch with no integrity. I can't enjoy someones music if I can't stand the person that makes it.

My issues with the album include several tracks being too repetitive and therefore they feel too long even though they're only 3 minutes or so.  Plus, one of them singers comes off as a cheap version of Alicia Keys.   Other than that, it's got a solid atmosphere and while not too inventive it isn't really boring.  Though it does lag in areas

Angles definitely has a 2010 Bad Boy feel.  It definitely reminds of a beat I heard before

^this. Diddy is a trend setter for the most part with everything OUTSIDE of music. Musically he is a trend follower and copier and post No Way Out has really bounced around from artist to artist, fad to fad. But I got to say, Diddy can excecutive produce the shit out of a R&B album. That will always be his lane.

As far as the album, it's aight, about what I expected.

All they did was jack Jay Z's "Where I'm From" beat, didn't even change it up much, I don't think Biggies "Downfall" verse fits very well the the beat either, doesn't sound mixed right

Aren't you the one always saying people give 90's artist love for shit they wouldn't give new artists love for?

I honestly feel like if this album was made by some new, up & coming kid, it would get love.

What makes you think being a new artist would make someone think better of this album than they already do? If Waka Flocka Flame released this album would it get love?
For the most part Dubcc has a bias for the 90's and any new artist is immediatly shot down and is compared to the older generation and is then classified as being either wack or a swagger-jacker. In the end it wouldn't make a difference if Kid Cudi or Wale or whoever made this album, it'd be shrouded with doubts from before the album even drops.
