WTF LOL

Beat is average as shit (Dre?)

Eminem was sayin' real shit but the flow was terrible

Jay-Z was average

Dr. Dre was pretty bad minus a few cool lines

I know the hook is supposed to be comedic but it's still terrible

50 Cent started well but ended bad

Stat Quo was the best on here

Ca$shis was ok

I thought this was just gonna' be Em, Jay, Dre & 50?

What a disappointing song lol.

After hearing this song & the message behind it, does this explain what happened to these guys?

Ever since Get Rich or Die Tryin', 50 just sold hooks; Recovery was sold on two songs with the catchiest radio hooks this year; & Jay sold Blueprint III on Empire State of Mind, Run This Town & On to the Next On, which is another bunch of catchy hooks.

Hmm..lol.

How are u so sure it's unfinished?

And let's be honest, I'd normally cut slack, but this wouldn't be much better in finished form unless all of the lyrics & chorus was changed LOL (which is unlikely)

cause the beat sounds too cheap and skeletal for a finished dre joint. but your right, the track isn't much cop regardless.

^ ya the beat would make the biggest difference in finished form but that's it. Even if in finished form the beat was that incredible, it may be a hit for the exact reason it pokes fun of (incredible beat with poppy hook). IRONIC lol

The lyrics, flow & hook are so garbage.

The simplistic beat fits.

Honestly, I prefer Eminem encore over both of these because despite being drugged up and having an unfocused off the beat flow his lyrics were better and he wasn't not over the top with multi-syallabe rhyme patterns.

Dre & 50 sound golden over this.

Jay sounds decent but he sounds even better today.

Stat vocally was a little sloppy but him & Cashsis were dope

The lyrics are on point.

Having expectations is fine but some times people trip over some imaginary sound a cat is supposedly "supposed to have"

Obviously old but I like it. Em on his Encore flow, better than the yelling he's doing right now. Jay was on point, Dre's delivery is the shit. 50 started off great but went on his weak flow at the half. Cashis and Stat Quo were nice. I dig the subject matter.

Indeed, it's funny how people are dissapointed when they (Em, Dre etc.) tried to show how wack commercial music is, while still making a dope track overall. I like the concept, this shit right here is innovative and creative.

it's not ironic, it's called the music industry, when your contractually obligated, your contractually obligated to make a widely-marketed/marketable product. there's a reason why we didn't hear this song when it was made cuz the fat-cats don't want you to hear the truth, they want you to hear & BUY soulja-boy & justin bieber... when your in Em's position you'll know why he makes the moves he does... it's all business & NO ART unfortunately. :-\

Ca$his addressing Syllables from a VIBE article.

Quote
Syllables was cut a couple of years ago, around the end of 2007. I think it was going to be for one of Em’s albums or Detox. When we first recorded it, the hook wasn’t even the same. It went something like ‘Happy Birthday…’ But when I heard it this time, I thought it was ridiculous and even better. I laid my part at Dre’s studio with Stat, 50, and Em. I heard that Jay had just left when I got there. Fif’ was there kicking his verse in another room when I did mine.” He continues, “I was more so excited than intimidated because I already had held my own with Em, and I think they believed in me this time. After I kicked my verse, Em, Dre, and 50 all said it was dope. That was the cosign I needed. I learned more from that session than any other before that.

There's a difference when around 30 to 45% if not more of Bishop's content is constantly hating on modern hip-hop and when one song from a group of artist is.  I'm a fan of Bishop Lamont and am glad to see him move away from talking about hip-hop as much.

i wouldn't or haven't (rather) looked at it as "preaching against" "hip-hop" whatever in fuck that statement/notion is supposed to mean?? saying that is to arbitrary & general for there to be any conclusions that can or will-ever be drawn from it, w/o examining even further the purpose, intention or reality of what's being said by Bishop. you see to me it's more of a conscious expression it seems, of the current "mainstream" state of hip-hop & therefore it's over-all diminished, ineffective & lackluster state, in contrast to it's origins, through Bishops point-of-view. Bishop Lamont is all about Hip-Hop, he is hop-hop i.e. The Reformation, he like many others are trying to bring it back, restore it in a sense to it's origins to take it to the next level that it SHOULD be at. Bishop's raps to me are like the modern equivalent of what it really was like when hip-hop had a REAL & POWERFUL influence on the people that changed things, positively, that would have a lasting, meaningful impact that inspired people to grow & create. now it's all about doing drugs w/ Soulja Boy, kickin it wit stanky-assed chicken-heads, wearing wack clothes & tight pants, pining about riches, cars & bitches... i mean come on, Bishop is too real for bastards like Interscope to push, same w/ Hittman, say what you will but... the slightest form of 'conscious-rap' or ANYTHING w/ remotely above-average intelligence in rap/hip-hop, the less likely it'll be that ANY corporate/mainstream giant is gonna wanna put MONEY behind you, to fucc wit you, to put you on... :-X

fuck a Industry mentality, dogg! ;D

troof, somebody had to say it, already!

Bishop's criticism of hip-hop works best on a song like Grow Up (which has a message) or Translator (which in itself isn't about anything but a plea to listen to the lyrics but there's nothing of substance in this particular track except a plea)  but beyond that it's mostly him being a hater which for the most part I still enjoy but find tiresome when he continues with the same complaints.

Besides I think it's all a stupid ploy.  Bishop appears to be a hypocrite with tracks like Everyday In The Streets or Feel On It.  How are these any different then the hip-hop he likes to criticize?

I don't find it annoying from another artist(s) due to the fact they're not constantly reflecting on hip-hop.

I like it.  Hands up?

Everyone cam correct.  It's dope.
??? when bishop does this, you call him a hater, but you like this song

There's a difference when around 30 to 45% if not more of Bishop's content is constantly hating on modern hip-hop and when one song from a group of artist is.  I'm a fan of Bishop Lamont and am glad to see him move away from talking about hip-hop as much.
he's not hating & the message is the same.
that's why i think it's weird that you like this

When you're constantly preaching against hip-hop even when it's improving it starts to look like hate.

i wouldn't or haven't (rather) looked at it as "preaching against" "hip-hop" whatever in fuck that statement/notion is supposed to mean?? saying that is to arbitrary & general for there to be any conclusions that can or will-ever be drawn from it, w/o examining even further the purpose, intention or reality of what's being said by Bishop. you see to me it's more of a conscious expression it seems, of the current "mainstream" state of hip-hop & therefore it's over-all diminished, ineffective & lackluster state, in contrast to it's origins, through Bishops point-of-view. :-X

fuck a Industry mentality, dogg! ;D

troof, somebody had to say it, already!

origins?
ur lookin for that Kurtis Blow and Afrika Baambaatta sound?

not really, look at all the people he shouts out & the features.

I don't find it annoying from another artist(s) due to the fact they're not constantly reflecting on hip-hop.
you're right, he does shoot himself in the foot, i'm just saying that i think that the concept of this eminem song isn't executed better than the bishop songs.

I don't think I ever intended to draw a comparison or even a contrast to Bishop Lamont's art.  I never brought up Bishop Lamont.  I never said it was any better or worse than songs he's created.  I simply said I liked this song and everyone came correct.
