" After a video went viral of Dr. Dre seemingly announcing an April 20 release date for his long-awaited Detox, a rep for the rapper/producer told MTV News that the clip wasn't referring to the album's arrival.
So what was the legendary producer referring to in the clip? That remains unclear at press time.
Dr. Dre has been at work on his highly anticipated LP for years now, scraping together several versions of the songs at various times; in one case, he gave several beats slated for his project to 50 Cent for the G-Unit superstar's debut album.
In November, Dre's first single, "Kush," hit the Web and was soon followed by a potential follow-up, the Eminem-assisted "I Need a Doctor."
A month later, Dre premiered the video for "Kush" featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. The clip, along with a cover story in the latest issue of hip-hop magazine XXL, seemed to confirm that the rap Chinese Democracy was finally slated for release.
The producer's penchant for perfectionism has long been the reason for the delay of Detox, which will be Dre's first album since his 2001 LP in 1999.
"[I'm] trying to put it out by the end of the fall," Dre said in an interview this past summer about Detox. "Trying to give everybody what they've been waitin' for and make sure they're not disappointed; that's all I'm doing."

this entire thing is a fucking joke. in the time since 2001 dropped, dre has probably recorded 15 songs that if put together would be a better album. but instead of releasing it, we get this bullshit.
maybe it's jimmy's fault. i have no idea.
if dre had any artistic integrity, he would have moved to another label, and released the best shit that him and Bishop had to offer. but no. he stayed on interscope because he could make exorbitant sums of money off of 50 and eminems record sales, despite only producing a fraction of their material. fuck this. i stopped caring about this album, for the most part, after topless and those other songs dropped and dre was like 'arghh i'm scrapping them all'. now i simply don't care whatsoever. Dawaun Parker, Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf, and Slim The Mobster are shitting themselves if they think interscope will ever release albums they record there.

I remember a few months back when I and Detox is A Myth!!! we're the only ones claiming that the album does not exists. People had their panties in a bunch and we're crying like little schoolgirls. Cut back some 6 months after, Dr.Dre is still playing the bullshit card.

Dre's had 11 years now.....
I think the motivation, and lack of talent are good reasons for his creativity level being so low, plus the fact he's made enough from other artists since 50 Cent to worry

You are correct (about that album). My post was meant to be ironic, I should have written "upcoming" album instead.
We probably never get any Planets album in our lifetime anyway, but...
