Post by: kuruptlon on January 20, 2011, 08:07:14 PM
Did any of the other stuff Rakim did with Dre ever leak, the stuff could've been epic.

Rakim - After U Die (Prod. by Dr. Dre)

Not a Dre production but more than likely intended for his Aftermath album "Oh My God".

Rakim - Cold Feeling    Prod. Ayatollah

Another one Rakim recorded during his Aftermath stint, not by Dre either.

Truth Hurts ft. Rakim - Addictive (Remix)   Prod. DJ Quik

Thanks! Haven´t heard this one before. The chorus/hook is not that good, but I like the beat.

Here's another dope track from the Aftermath Era. It's called "R.A.K.I.M." and it was released on the "8 Mile" OST.

I thought the work Rakim was doing over at Aftermath was sensational...

1.  "Addictive" Truth Hurts feat. Rakim
2.  "R.A.K.I.M." Rakim produced by Denaun from 8 Mile Soundtrack
3.  "The Watcher" remix with Jay-Z and Dr. Dre
4.  "After U Die" leaked track

all great tracks

This track is one of my favorites, the beat is great. A Cold Feeling and After U Die are great tracks as well. I wish more of his stuff from that era leaked, I'm sure there were some gems in there.

Rakim used 50 Cent's Back Down (the beat) for his Oh My God album, it was later used on 50's album

GIANT: “Family Affair”?

Rakim: Yeah, I had that track first. That’s the way Dre do. If he got eight beats he feel is hits, he’ll pass them to his camp until he get a hit off of it.

Rakim would of sounded great over the "Back Down" beat, but the way 50 killed that song, I couldn't have seen it any other way.

And somebody above said the production was "messy" on R.A.K.I.M?   Messy... So what?  That shit bumps man, I mean, every beat doesn't have to sound the same.  That was a unique sound Denaun came with on that joint, and the track is bangin, so how can you argue with the end result?   Instead of "messy" I would describe it has "full"
