Title: Happy Birthday dubcc
Post by: M Dogg™ on January 29, 2011, 08:06:37 PM
As the oldest still active account on the board, I want to be the first to say Happy Birthday DubCC. The board turns 10 years today.

10 years ago, many posters on the Dre2001.com board (the official Dr. Dre page back then) decided that they were tired of the new people posting who were not there from the beginning. Much of the westcoast message boards history started with the DreDay.com page, and their board in 1999 counting down until the release of Chronic 2001. Well over time people moved from board to board, since many pages were fan based pages with simple message boards. Everyone from MC Ren to Dr. Dre to Snoop Dogg and the Dogg Pound had a fan page. At the same time Dre2001.com started after the release of Dre 2001. Eventually the people there were over ran by newbie fans who were jumping on the westcoast band wagon. Well all the fan sites, including one I wrote an article for, WCKillaz.com, all joined together to have one message board instead of all these separate message boards, so everyone can come together. This was spearheaded by Overseer, who mainly posted on Dre2001.com board. This mega board that everyone would connect to would be called the Westcoast Alliance or WCA. Over time, the heads of WCKillaz.com and Overseer had a disagreement, and since they own the name Westcoast Alliance, Overseer changed it to Westcoast Connection, meaning that this board still connected everyone else, and it was a better play off of Westside Connection. Eventually the WCKillaz.com guys cameback and everyone was under the WCC umbrella, or dubcc. Eventually as the fan sites started to die off, DubCNN was started as the main news source, and many famous artist have interviewed there. So now one of the most innovative hip-hop boards in the internet now turns 10 years old.

Great thread and Post from MDogg.

Mdogg, you said you were the longest remaining active member, but I think if Overseer had not accidently deleted my account I would be right there with you.  Maybe there is proof somewhere under my old infinite59 account that got deleted.

Anyway, want to give some birthday shoutouts to the websites that were the forerunners to DUBCC...

1.  Dreday.com-  Like Mdogg mentioned, this site was the shit back in the day.  The forum had truly dedicated and knowledgeable West Coast fans who never stopped supporting and following Dre's career even during the 97-98 years when Dre was very reclusive, only releasing a few of his tracks here and there with the Firm album, and the Bullworth soundtrack.  People at Dreday.com also supported Eminem from the moment he was signed to Aftermath Records, knowing that Dre wouldn't sign an artist unless he was hugely talented.   The bandwagon fans didn't really come around to Eminem until the "Forgot About Dre" video blew up, but over at Dreday.com they were fans well before that.  Dreday.com also had some of the most exclusive audio cuts that came out well before the albums, sometimes 6 months to a year before they were released, tracks like "Forgot About Dre", "What's The Difference" (Hittman version), "Kim", "Our House" (unreleased Eminem), "The Throne Is Mine" (2001 Leftover), and more.

2.  WCKillaz.com-   Trauma was a totally different person back in those days.  He used to spend his whole day arguing in support of artists like Snoop, and anytime somebody would enter the forum and say something against Snoop or Dre, Trauma would damn near write a book in defense of the top West Coast artists.

3.  Snoopsdogghouse.com-  This is honestly the first website I ever went to when I started using a computer in my home around 1998.  They were big Snoop fanatics, even at a time of great disappointment, with Snoop heading down south to work with No Limit Records.  None of us were in support of the move, but we still stuck with Snoop even during those down years.  They had a lot of exclusive audio on the website, I remember tracks like "Tha Next Episode" and Warren G's "Dope Beat" were released well in advance of the 2001 and Want It All albums.  They were the best on news, with updates every two weeks or so, and strong opinions from the websites moderators.   On my first visit to the website in fall 98 Kurupt's "Kuruption" and Bad Azz "Word On The Streetz" albums so the talk on the forum was about those projects.  The "Puttin It Down" video was airing on BET, the website, although they were huge fans and supporters of Snoop were dissing Snoop writing sarcastically that Snoop... "Snoop, in all his creativity rhymes "Down" three times in the chorus"!...

"These Doggpound Niggaz be puttin in down.
Doggpound gangstaz make the world go round
So get your ass up before you get on down
Snoop Dogg and Badazz be puttin it down"

LOL

4.  Bodyrott Forum  (Eminem)-   I know this forum was never directly related to the formation of the DUBCC, but I think several of the OG's from this board used to post on the message board there.  The ironic thing was that it was a lot of hate for Eminem on that forum, even though the forum was named after him.  Like I said above, for the bandwagon fans it was never acceptable to be a big Eminem fan until way late after "Forgot About Dre" had blown up commercially.  People were closet fans before then, buying and listening to his work, but not supporting it in public.

5.  Official Dre2001 album website-   Not bad at first, but like MDogg said, after the album blew up, too many bandwagon fans came and watered down the forum.

6.  www.hip-hopsite.com/www.eminem.com-  This site was the #1 source for Eminem news and audio leaks, often straight from his manager Paul Rosenberg.  They were linked with the very respected undergound hip-hop website hip-hopsite.com.   This really helped established Eminem's credibility with the underground but after the MMLP blew up Eminem's website took a new form and never was as good as it was in the early days.  Sometimes less is more.

Shout outs to OG's I remember from the DUBCC that helped build this forum into the best hip-hop forum on the web-

greatest thread in years...props.

I'm pretty sure WCA stood for West Coast Affiliatez, though.

a revival of this board would be great, since most of the fags are gone anyways. all bs aside, the last couple years of this board reminded me of the same exact shit that we left dre2001 for. still, WCC (WCA) in it's prime was by far the illest message board online...PeACe

ps...lets not forget to give credit to B-Please, since he was also largely responsible for starting this site.

All bullshit aside, the following people off the top of my head really made this place special over the years:
Trauma
NIK
Hip Hop Hoe
Jamal
Infinite
Big Bad Ass
Narrator
Seer
Suffice
Engies
acgrundy
Big Jake
Tanjint
Big BPG
Doggystylin
AlerG
Blade
DreSnoop00
Tom
Rud
Nima
M Dogg
Lil Jay
King Tech
Zilla
Adon

List goes on, but those guys all played a part, whether making me laugh or creating good music discussion or both. The original people from the Dre board back in the day who made the jump here were the core original OGs 10 years ago. Whether I'm cool with ya, got beef with ya, whatever, I give you props for making this one of the best sites on the net.

But he's right. It was "immature" and pretty low, but it had entertainment value. And I think Nik deserved an exposure for his arrogance and naivety.
But yeah, Nik is important for this board, his return could revive it.

His importance to the board is based on the fact that no one really likes him. Also that he had nothing better to do with himself so he posted about a million threads a week when 99% of them were not necessary. Either way, the board IMO is no worse without him. Still the same bullshit on here, just less of it.

Come on this is supposed to be a thread about Dubcc ten year anniversary and like someone said before with Dre coming with Detox this year, this should be a big year for the forum.

Maybe ya'll can put down yur obssession with Sccit/NIK for a few minutes and speak on the forum, Daygostyle I know you've been around a while and u can come with something much better then hatin on Sccit.  Sikotic and MDogg had beef with NIK but they put they "put that bullshit and jokes to the side".

And your wrong anyway about NIK's value only being that people didnt like him, if anything the dude was so open and contributed so much to the forum that alot of people were jealous of him and wanted to make him a target of their immaturity.  But if u want to debate Sccit set up another thread, dont do it on this one.

You gotta be real about the shit too though. NIK loved the hate too. A lot of people received as much hate coming their way and either backed off or just left the forum. NIK was always down to go back and forth with someone for an eternity. We got multiple 20-plus page threads to prove my point. It was entertaining as hell though whether I was in the middle of it or just a spectator.

lmao sorry but I couldn't read on after this

lmao it's so funny that the  board is so dependant on a single album that was supposed to come out 5 years ago. People awaited a single album like a Christian would await Jesus 2nd coming, that's really depressing if you ask me. And it's even funnier now that people start to realize Dre might not be the savior they all waited for :D

lol@ Obsession with NIK. I was responding to others comments on him. Not exactly an obsession. And yeah, NIK made some contributions to the board. But most of those contributions were in the beginning. Ive been here damn near the whole time, back since ToNe1904, so I remember. Over the last few years (even longer), most of his contributions really came in the form of talking shit to other people and making enemies. So I was commenting on the idea that his "return could revive" the board. Over the last 4 or 5 years his main value to the board was that people didnt like him.

Anyways, like I said before...peace to all the OG's. Even Scittles.

yeah homie, I still remember your thread you made back in the day where you predicted where people would be in 10 years and you had me down as one of the members that would be long gone and inactive, lol.

And people wanna diss Dre but there would be no dubcc if not for Dr. Dre, we should all be biggin up Dre right now hopin Dre puts the west back on the map once again.

And Sikotic, to answer yur question about Sccit yeah we all have our arguments and I used to antagonize mutherfuckers myself here on the forum, but at the end of the day Sccit is a cool ass mutherfucker.

It's not about kissing and making up. I respect the guy's contribution to the forum over the years. NIK has been a part of some of the most memorable discussions and "moments" throughout Dubcc's history. Nobody can deny that, and I'm level-headed enough to acknowledge that regardless of the shit that has gone down in the last couple of years. We'll probably never ever see eye-to-eye and the majority of people on Dubcc understand why. I'm perfectly fine with that.

I don't agree with Infinite on almost everything, but he's generated multiple discussions over the years that were interesting in the music sections and ToT. They could both reply in this thread and shit on me, but I still respect them for doing their part to make Dubcc a good place to kill time over the years.

i think we all know when the board started drastically declining, no need to get into it. even though i barely come around, it's still nice to see some og names posting.. infinite, mdogg, sikotic, ag, etc...honestly, who knew we'd still be here 10 years later? crazy shit.

are you two finally going to kiss and makeup?

Sik, I think we see eye to eye more than you think.  Because until a year or so ago we were always respectful and then as soon as we communicated directly about our beef we were able to dead that shit right away.  So that says alot right there as far as I'm concerned.  And I'm not going to hold the shit that your followers continue to do against you.

And I may not agree with everything u post up on the forum, but its not like your a one-dimensional dude, and you can bring it on other levels that I appreciate.

LOL...the white-Asian guy who thinks he's a blood is still mad. hilarious. get over it, homie, i came in here to talk about wcc's glory years and 10th year anniversarry, not how much fun you had riding my nuts on this website when the groupies took over, resulting in the downward spiral that killed the fuckin forum.

For one....what am I mad about? I simply responded to something other people were talking about.

Two, what does me being Mestizo have to do with anything? I dont think I'm a Blood. Its just what Ive grown up in. Same way youve grown up around other overpriviledged white kids. No big deal.
